Anniversary events tend to run from mid-March to mid-April (sometimes to mid-May) each year. They are not available during the "off season".

For an overview and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry.

This is an anniversary group mission introduced with EverQuest's 14th anniversary. It begins with Crusader Rylroth (map) in the Chapterhouse of the Fallen, located at -130, -90, 0 (this is the same room as Holy Defender Ioris, on the main floor).

You say, 'Hail, Crusader Rylroth'

Crusader Rylroth says 'Greetings _____. As you may know, we've been tracking down all the shards of fear that have fallen across Norrath. Our spies have discovered that a larger than average shard has come into the possession of a necromancer by the name of [Xmiticzin].'

You say, 'Who is Xmiticzin?'

Crusader Rylroth says 'Our information indicates he has a somewhat unstable personality. Apparently he enjoys playing deadly [games] with anyone who attempts to come into his lair.'

You say, 'What games?'

Crusader Rylroth says 'In order to reach him, you'll have to get through his games alive. No one has managed so far _____, but we need that crystal. The Harbingers are prepared to offer a generous reward to anyone who can manage to [obtain] the shard. Do you think you can do it?'

You say, 'I can obtain it!'

Crusader Rylroth says 'My instincts were correct! You certainly look like you can handle this. Try to keep an eye out for any other items of interest while you're in there. Let me know when you're [ready] and I'll lead you to his lair.'

You have been assigned the task 'Surviving Xmiticzin'.

You must survive Xmiticzin's games and recover the shard of fear in his possession. If you lose important items you may find inside, they can be obtained again in their original locations.

You say, 'Ready!'

Crusader Rylroth says 'Let's go then.'

You have entered Chapterhouse of the Fallen.

Examine the door down the west hall 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

When you approach the door to the west, you'll see this emote:

Xmiticzin shouts 'Oh ho! Some new entertainment has arrived. I was getting bored. Let's start off with a simple game. Do you see those four torches on the wall next to the door? I'll move them in a certain order and all you have to do is copy what I do.'

Be ready to watch the four torches around the door.

Complete Xmiticzin's Game of Observation 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Xmiticzin shouts 'Oh, you should try not to make any mistakes or. . . tehehe. Pay attention now!'

One torch will move (down, then back into place).

Xmiticzin shouts 'Your turn!'

Click the same torch.

Xmiticzin shouts 'So you can pay attention. My turn!'

One torch will move, and then another torch will move.

Xmiticzin shouts 'Your turn!'

Repeat the movements by clicking on the torches.

If you get one wrong, you'll see this...

Xmiticzin shouts 'Wrong! Time for some fun!'

...and an add spawns (regular Chapterhouse mob difficulty).

You'll have to do this eight times (note that the order stays the same; he only adds one more torch on to each set, up to eight movements total).

After you've done eight:

Xmiticzin shouts 'Bah, that's enough of this game. I'll let you come in now. Try not to get yourself killed on the way to my next bit of fun!'

Search the guarded artifact on the pedestal 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Task Window Says: The artifact on the pedestal in front of you seems to emanate a strange power. You should inspect it more closely.

Kill the three undead in the room, then click on the artifact to receive an "Ancient Gem".

Make your way through the vault 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Head west, then south (there will be a few undead trash to make your way through) until you come to the next update room:

Xmiticzin shouts 'Finally! You sure took your time getting here. This game is much easier than the last one. I'll summon various minions for you to fight. If you're entertaining enough, I might even let you rest for a minute.'

Survive Xmiticzin's Game of Strength 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Xmiticzin shouts 'All you have to is survive...hehehe. Are you ready?'

Here, you will have five waves of mobs:

- Two mobs
- Two mobs
- break (one minute)
- Two mobs
- Two mobs
- break (one minute)
- Two mobs + named ("Sir Rothan Beldemor")

The mobs are fairly standard for Chapterhouse difficulty (hit for a max ~12,000-13,000; mix of immunities to mez/stun).

Wave 1: 1x "an undead cleric of Marr" + 1x "a fallen knight"

Xmiticzin shouts 'That looked fun! Let's have another round.'

Wave 2: 1x "a defiled paladin of Marr" + 1x "a fallen knight"

Xmiticzin shouts 'You're looking a bit winded. I don't want you to die too soon. I'll let you rest for a minute.'

Xmiticzin shouts 'Time's almost up. Get ready!' (10-second warning)

Wave 3: 1x "a disgraced knight" + 1x "a forlorn cleric of Marr"

Xmiticzin shouts 'That looked fun! Let's have another round.'

Wave 4: 1x "a defiled paladin of Marr" + 1x "a fallen knight"

Xmiticzin shouts 'Now that was entertaining! You barely got through that one. I'll give you a minute to gather your strength for the final event.'

Xmiticzin shouts 'Time's almost up. Get ready!' (10-second warning)

Wave 5: 1x "Sir Rothan Beldemor" + 1x "a disgraced knight" + 1x "a forlorn cleric of Marr"

Sir Rothan Beldemor has been slain by _____!
Sir Rothan Beldemor's corpse stumbles and collpases

Xmiticzin shouts 'So, you managed to survive that game. Well, no matter. There's more fun to be had up ahead!'

Search the undead for another piece of the amulet 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Loot this from Sir Rothan Beldemor's corpse.

Make your way through the vault 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Head northeast.

Solve Xmiticzin's Game of Thought 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Xmiticzin says 'You made it I see. I would have been sad to be deprived of my fun...hehehe. This game will be the most challenging yet! To get through this door, you'll have to select the proper combination by using the orbs next to it. Colors may be used more than once. When you are happy with your choices, try opening the door and we'll see how close you got.'

Xmiticzin says 'I'll give you some hints on how close your guess was and you can try again. The poorer your guess is, the more fun I get to have! Get to it!'

Here, you will see four orbs. You need to figure out what the (random) correct combination is. To change the color of an orb, click the orb. To see how many you have correct, click the door. When you click the door with any incorrect combination, a single undead add spawns directly across the room from each incorrect orb (one add for each incorrect orb; correct orbs will not spawn adds).

Work on one orb at a time. Choose a color and click the door. If the number correct increases, then you know that orb is now correct. If the number correct decreases, then you know the orb's previous color was correct. If the number correct stays the same, then you know that neither the previous color or the new color is correct. (You can also judge by where the add spawns.)

If you do the door click with Invis Vs. Undead on you, you will be able to see where the add spawns and be able to tell which orb(s) you need to change. An example of what you may see upon clicking the door:

Xmiticzin says '1 of your orbs are the right color in the correct position'
Xmiticzin says '1 of your orbs are the right color, but in the wrong position'
Xmiticzin says '2 of your orbs are completely wrong! Fun Time!' (An add now spawns directly across from both these orbs.)

Continue working the puzzle until you've finished all four orbs:

Xmiticzin says 'Heh, no one has ever made it this far before. No matter. You're not powerful enough to hurt me, but feel free to try anyway!'

Collect the final artifact piece from the pedestal 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Head to the south, clear the artifact room of undead, and click on it.

Assemble the completed artifact 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Right-click any piece to assemble this.

Kill Xmiticzin! 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Xmiticzin says 'That`s enough fun for today. Time to die.'

As soon as you engage Xmiticzin, right-click the artifact to debuff him:

Barrier of Blood: Self 0', Unresistable (0)
1: Invulnerability

Xmiticzin says 'How could you possibly remove my shield? You're cheating!'

Xmiticzin hits for a max ~15,500 (no flurry; no rampage). He casts a random-target fear spell called "Terror" as well as a random-target DOT called "Death Spiral":

Death Spiral: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
: Decrease Mana and Hitpoints by up to 3000 per tick
2: Decrease Endurance and Hitpoints by up to 1000 per tick
3: Increase Disease Counter by 50

Terror: Single Target, (-960)
1: Fear up to level 200

He spawns two adds (two mobs when low in health, around 15%): "a defiled paladin of Marr" and "a fallen knight"):

Xmiticzin shouts 'Minions, get over here!'

Make sure you kill the adds before continuing DPS on Xmiticzin, or he will regenerate and begin casting an AE Death Touch:

Xmiticzin shouts 'Hahaha, I can't believe you fell for that!'

Destroy II: PB AE 50', Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 500000

Once he dies:

Xmiticzin has been slain by _____!
Xmiticzin says 'How could you...impossible...'

Hand over the Ancient Talisman to Crusader Rylroth 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

Crusader Rylroth says 'This is an interesting find, _____. I'll take it back to the Harbinger camp so we can examine it further.'

Claim your reward from Xmiticzin's Cache 0/1 (Chapterhouse of the Fallen)

You were able to survive Xmiticzin's games and defeat him, recovering the shard of fear.

Got him down to 10%, very fast and without any issue, before he spawned 2 add's:
"A Defiled paladin of Marr" and "A fallen knight"
Stopped DPS on X + focused on add's, thats when AE started going off. Killed both adds, but also killed X (b/c of DoT's) before last add was killed + X re-spawned w/ 10% health. After he re-spawned (or possibly absorbed last add when he was killed), i noticed both Necro pet's were dead (96 Air pet alive w/ ~35% health), and everyone in the group, including mercs, were near death+OOM. Some DoT's were still on X, and Mage + Wiz merc (now set to Burn) quickly burned him down, and we finished with only 1 healer merc death.

nothing could be rooted. We were pal/shm/mnk so don't know if necro mez or enchanter mez/charm would work.

Had "Bladed Belt of Frenzy", "Blue Stone of Power" and (Already listed up there) "Mantle of the Mastermind" drop off this event today. Also, while I haven't seen it drop here personally yet, I think it's safe to say due to the name that "Xmiticzin's Earring of Dominion" drops here as well though admittedly at the moment that's just a wild guess on my part :P lol

Also, bit of hints/info.

At the part with the orbs and the locked door. If you have someone with group Invis to Undead, this becomes a cakewalk. Cast ITU on the group, go up, click the door. The skeletons that spawn will not auto-aggro, and because you are invis to undead they will not see you. Whichever orb has a mob standing in front of it, is wrong. Any orb without a mob standing in front of it is right. Pull the mobs, kill them, then remember which orbs had a mob in front of it, click each one of them ONE time, then click the door again. Rinse repeat until the door is correctly unlocked.

As for the Xmiticzin fight. The SECOND you pull him, click the artifact on him to drop his buffs. They make him invulnerable. As soon as the buffs drop you will not have to click the artifact on him again (at least I didn't). Things to NOT use on Xmiticzin:
Swarm Pets
Damage Shields
and WATCH RIPOSTE. He doesn't have many hp, MAYBE double that of a trash mob, he will die fast. Nuke him and melee him and use static pets that can be withdrawn and held. That is all. At 10-15% he will spawn his two adds. They come in the form of generic Chapterhouse trash, so be ready to tank all 3. You can kill them but you do not HAVE to kill them. After maybe a minute he will "reabsorb" the undead adds, gain ~20% hp, and you may proceed to kill him without the death touch from that point on. He only spawns the adds once at 15%. Best method I found is to back all things off, let tank tank all 3, heal tank through it, when the adds depop, kill him. Win the mission.

Chest seems to always drop 2-3 items per run. The augs (InsertColor Stone of Power) seem to be global chest drops for ALL 14th Anniversary missions (Steamfont, Plane of Mischief, Xorbb, Chapterhouse, both Convorteum missions), the gear itself, however, is mission specific. Aside from the augs it seems the rest of the chest drops you see drop in a mission will not drop in other 14th Anni missions. This includes the pet/player illusion wands from Steamfont. Either way, on a 6 hour lockout and considering this mission drops renamed copies of existing RoF T2 slot 3'd group gear, this is a GREAT way to deck people out in gear. This and the Xorbb Anni mission. Very easy too. Run them while they are here!

The fallen knights and decaying knights are only ones that can be NECRO mezzed (no idea about chanter) and none can be mem-blurred by Necro.

The orbs:
The tips above don't really help me, as you get it, correct color in correct spot, correct color in wrong spot, and completely wrong. you only get add(s) when your completely wrong. i found this part so confusing and stupid as I changed all the colors in different spots and got the same answers 3 times in a row, so I dont know if its a bug or what, i did /bug it. also the adds that spawn when wrong are not as hard, they conned dark blue to lvl 100 and seem to die faster than the normal white cons do. (do ivu! before clicking door)
green green orange black was the combo i got.

on the end guy he has very low hps, first time around he died just from my ds, so 2nd try i removed ds and got the adds down and then finished him off

To make the first game (levers) easy, draw a square on a piece of paper and write down the number 1 in the corner of the square that matches the lever flipped. Continue this for numbers 2-8.

Trash can't be rooted. Cleric mobs can't be mezzed, but knights can.

During the colored orb game, he spawns adds in the room with the orbs when you click the door, the number of adds is the number of orbs that are completely wrong -- 4 wrong colors means 4 adds. So have your party wait outside the room. If the person clicking is invis to undead, he might be ok and not get aggro during add spawn. Then pull and kill the adds so you can try again. These adds give very low xp and no corpse.

During the final fight, click the assembled artifact on Xmiticzin right away, because you can't land spells or damage until you do. He spawns 2 adds at 20%. Switch to the adds and do not damage Xmiticzin, because if you kill Xmiticzin first, he just DTs you and resets. Kill the adds, or at least survive them, because after a while he absorbs any adds still standing. Once the two adds are gone, kill Xmiticzin.

Chest loot includes:
Mantle of the Mastermind
Sir Rothan's Blackened Fingerbones
