There were a few post below saying that there are no fish in the Kerra lake. I just completed this quest 22/03/27.
FYI the Kerran Fishingpole doesn't seam to be usable as a fishing pole

There is a lone spikefish in the Kerra Isle lake.
He stays in the deep area and is usually around -10 to -15 depth.
Some stopping points are near:
-500,2300
-450,1950
-850,1850
He stays deep around the outside bank but also goes to the inside bank and gradually gets shallower from the south tip toward to dock until he is near the surface, staying near the inside bank.
That is where I found Razortooth after many spikefish kills, near -525,2000,0
He looks just like the other spikefish.
The path is like a crescent with a South point, a larger outside path, a smaller, shallower inside path, and a West point.
Only ever seen this one fish in the lake.
The channel outside of Kerra has 3 or 4 spikefish, including the poisonous spikefish.
I did not see a poisonous spikefish in the lake during my hunts.
I did receive the Karran Fishing Pole when I turned in the fish-looking Razor Tooth to Feren.
I was amiable by that time, killing rats and erudite emmisaries between spawns.
If it makes a difference, I was shrouded to level 20 when he spawned.

After of the nerf to Kerra isle(making it part of the new tox) no fish of any kind can be found in the water within Kerra isle.

Can anyone confirm this?
After reading the above post, I logged on my tracker and went and checked. I found no fish within the waters in the isle area, however, I did find all the fish just outside the isle, in the waters between the isle and the mainland.
Just finished the quest and received my pole, so still works. Took about two hours of constant killing of all the Spikefish spawns to get Razortooth to spawn.
Updated stat's on the pole:

My druid was feeling guilty after killing Nomala (poor kitty) for the Hero Bracer quest (Escaped Catman), and came here to see if she could rebuild her Kerran and Prexus faction. No luck on Prexus faction, btw. Did the Sharp Tooth rat quest a few times, then saw a spikefish fly by the dock... yes, it was flying through the air. Rooted it, killed it mid-air. Only 4 other spikefish on track, so I figured I'd go for a swim. Killed them. Waited... watched track (zone was empty but for me). The last pop was razortooth, so I went for it. Darned hard to target that fish, kept trying to click on him, finally used F8. Got the drop, swam around tracking Feren until I found the boat. Had a bit of trouble getting in boat, but it was do-able. Did the turn in with apprehensive faction, no problem. Faction boost with Kerra Island, same as rat tooth quest.
If the posts are right, I'm a bit disappointed. Got no real use for a fishing pole I can't fish with. Thought maybe as a no drop pole with stats it might not break. (Haven't actually tried fishing with it yet.) Hmmm, wonder if there's a mace in the game that can only be used as a fishing pole? :oP

I just finished this quest about 30 mins ago. It still works (Obviously hehe :wink: ).
I found Feren on the boat out by Tiger Island. I hailed him, did all the "What fish?" etc...
I started the quest, and just went out and killed every spikefish I could find on track. I'd go back to shore and med/afk come back and repeat. From what I have gathered, everytime you kill a spikefish there is a high chance to spawn another spikefish, a low chance to spawn a venemous spikefish, and a very very low chance to spawn razortooth. I know I camped him before and it took about 3 and a half hours. This time it took eight hours (Of course I wasn't always there to kill the spikefish as they spawned :rolleyes: ) Just keep killing em, and eventually u'll get him. He is not on a timed spawn. I have killed him before and someone kill him again an hour later :yippee: When he finally does show up on track or u see him, and kill him, he drops Razortooth (Icon looks just like fresh fish)loot it, and give to Feren. You'll get some exp, the *cough* fishing pole, and some faction with the kerrans.
If your are just barely high enough level to kill the spikefish, be careful as fish can attack out-of-water (Looks funny to see a flying fish :eek: )
and it is not a bug either. I used it to my advantage by luring them out of water and rooting them. Also their pathing for the most part keeps them against the wall all the way around the water's edge except for a couple of places, so if u don't have track the best place to hunt them is close to the waterfall where there is a ledge u can climb up from out of the water (and is also close to the zone). Don't get disappointed :banghead: , and u'll get it "yippee:

I've just finished the quest with a level 22 druid. It took me 3 hours to kill the placeholder Spikefish, but finally I got Razortooth on track. It was an easy fight at my level (coned light blue to me). The Pole is nice and fast, good for practice and fun! :o)

If anyone still cares about this quest, some updated info would be wonderful! I have leveled from 16 - 18 here. (WOOT!) I have just about every other quest on the island. This is by far the most time consuming! (The health potion one was easy compared to this!) Any more clues on getting Razortooth to show?
Also I got at venemous fish sac from the venemous spikefish. What is that for? I can't find it on the Rogues poison pages. Hmmm.....R A R E drop anyone??

I've tried this for far too long and refuse to camp like this.
I've killed spikefish for hours, occasionally got a venomous one, never got razortooth on track.
Spikefish actually seem to despawn and respawn occasionally so even razortooth spawns, he's gonna despawn if you're not there to hunt him down in a decent amount of time.
So now, if I'm in the vicinity, I'll pop in, check track, farm the Fishbone Necklace to give away (now THAT's an easy spawn!) and go about my business.
Only good thing is that I maxed my swim here and can swim almost as fast as I run now.

Yes, Razortooth is No Drop.
I was a level 17 ranger, so I went into Kerra last night to hunt the spikefish and wharf rat for exp. I learned 3 things very quickly:
1- Spikefish train.
2- Spikefish are very difficult to take on in batches, especially in the water.
3- I can't swim.
That said, I started off on a bad foot with a corpse run.
Luckily, I killed both Sharptooth (who just showed up as "wharf rat" but dropped "Sharp Tooth" anyway) and Razortooth in a half hour and got my (worthless) necklace and (super!) Kerran Fishingpole. Nice exp for a level 17 ranger. It's just a shame that there's not a bank anywhere on the island.
Also, Razortooth showed up about 5 or 10 minutes after I killed the venoumous spikefish, so that may be the placeholder.

I have been killing spikefish for a few hours before coming here and I have seen as many as 5 at one time on track so I dont know what the people saying there is only 1 are talking about. I even killed a venomous spikefish (it could poison me even though not in range to bite) but only seen him once. I still get xp at 21 from spikefish even though they are green.

I've been camping this whole lake for in excess of 15 real time hours and have yet to see a single razortooth spawn. I've killed at least 50 spikefish, and a couple dozen rats. everything is green to me at level 22, so I don't get exp, but the fish and rats hit hard so plan on medding alot. At level 20, I was getting exp, and got to level 21 on nothing but spikefish and rats. Most boring 8 hour day I've spent in this game. I gained 100 points of skill in swimming that day.
At this point I'm ready to scrap the whole quest. In this amount of time, I could have skilled up my 1hb skill with a splintered club. If you want to do this quest, go there, swim around and see if razortooth is there, if he is, kill it and finish the quest, if not, go do another quest, this isn't worth camping for.

...a monkish friend of mine carries this in his primary, and a Fool's Gold Stein in his secondary. This and Feign Death will make you lots of friends in-game.

thought it might help someone if i put this tidbit out there:
you can get the fishing pole if you have already ruined your faction...i used sneak as a monk to sneak up behind feren and he gave me the pole (in return for the razortooth corpse of course).
for anyone who has bad faction but cant sneak or hide get someone to invis you, should work just as well

Although my level 20 ranger is getting experience from killing the spikefish and the wharf rat, I shudder to think just WHY I'd do this otherwise.
Think about it... You at least need track (or some sort or sense animals spell), you can't be KOS by kerrans, and you need to spend a lot of time killing fish after fish after fish...
I've got a few "rare" items myself, such as the Crookstinger, the Larktwitter Bow, A stick that lets me change into a tree (charges), and some other rare items... But I think this one takes the cake, simply because there's often only 1 spikefish swimming about.
Add to the fact that this item is NO DROP, the only way you'll get one is by being very very patient..

Razortooth you elusive swine! I have completed this quest in 2hrs once no problems. I just stood by the catfisher and cast sense animals frequently. After killing several spikefish i got razortooth and the pole which is a great fun weapon. I went back with my druid to do the same and spent 12 hrs on the lakeiside with no sign of razortooth. No great loss though i went from 17-18 in that time. However I was wondering if razortooth has a very limited time on after spawning? I think ill head back at 20 when i got track and try again.
what i do is jump off of the dock (after killing the rat INSIDE the house for the sharptooth quest)and face the island.It swims past that side of the island.The spikefish spawns every eightish minutes and i cast of it THEN i swim back to land. the fish will come up onto the land and once its near death it will follow the pathing on land.This makes it a lot easier to persue. I love my pole. It beats the bastid out of people in the arena(I smell fish!!Kasmash!) And; no, you cant fish with it.
