the only reason i can see doing this is because it has stats, can go in a ranged slot AND is magical. I have a troll shaman that STILL does not have a magical weapon at 11. If a ghoul jumps me or I accidently hit a willow wisp... Im dead. It does however share the common trait almost all piercing weapons do, and thats crappy stats. but in a pinch even with its bad ratio you could switch it out for a magical. I imediately thought Rogue when I saw it I think the bonus' are better for that class then pally.

strangely enough my dark elf cleric of innoruuk, who was dubious to all halflings in Nek, was contentedly hunting the piranha for xp when the leatherfoot deputy aggro'ed on him and assisted the fish! for you lighties as well as the chosen of innoruuk do not hunt the piranha west of the bridge (where the leatherfoot deputy roams), as those miserable halflings have apparently made some sort of alliance with the pointy-toothed menaces. also, the drop rate on the raw D.P. must be unbelievably low as i hunted these for many, many moons and have yet to see the blasted thing!

acctually pallies can fight with pericing weapons what would the Messenger ot the queen be to a pally since it is a pierceing weapon i am a pally and my skill has rissen to 90 all ready and i am at level 17 so far so this sounds intresting i am goping to find out if it is worth it but yes pallies can use peirceing weapons i am proof and i am not too bad at it either lol
Actually, paladins can't use most piercing weapons. They can use some select FEW spear-type (2handed) piercing weapons, but for 2-handed weapons the ratios on these usually suck.
If you can learn to use a piercing weapon, maybe you could learn to use punctuation too?

Does this quest really go all the way from Kerra to Nektulos? Wouldn't it be more logical to go to -Toxxulia- Forest, which is the Erudite zone?

this weapon's use is not the fact that it does or doesn't deal dmg. It is useful for swimming underwater for long periods of time. At high lvls this is an issue.

No all the fish in Nek are KOS to everyone so you will have to go in the water and kill it. These fish are usally about 12-14 not too hard but underwater Parana trains happen along with the fact that Deputy Leather foot swims in the river once in a while to get across to the other camp. The Duputy is a 18-25 Spawn. So watch for him.

Everyones concerned about the Pally's and their piercing that noone answered the intial question. I was also wondering if anyone knows the spawn rate ot loc where this thing spawns. i couldn't find it either and I think I saw that first guy floating in the river from exhaustion.....lol

Anyone have any tips on where the piranha spawns? I have been swimming around in the game so long, my fingers are wrinkled when I get done playing.

Try by the bridge - there are some really nasty piranha there that tear the heck out of my troll every time I swim around there and I'm 14th level. The bridge also makes the most sense since there are gaurds nearby just to make the quest a b*tch for light races. These fish hit hard though.

I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

It use means that they can EQUIP it and to a certain extent use it but you would never want to as your piercing skill will forever be at 0

They just fixed this in a patch...
Paladins CANNOT use piercing weapons...they don't have the skill. Items have now been corrected to show this.

And now in another patch, paladins have gained the piercing skill. I think Absor explained it as a 2-handed kind of piercing (think lances, which um, were one handed but oh well). So now the question is if these items have been patched again so low level paladins can find a weapon to use and improve that weapon skill.

I believe you are thinking of a pike which is two handed and you don't need to be on horseback ;)
