Rain of Fear Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This task is the first in a series of six. It's a shared task (1-6 players) that begins with Reena Kedson (map) in Grelleth's Palace, the Chateau of Filth. She is located at 1200, 265, 0 (zone-in area).

- Level 85
- No tasks

You say, 'Hail, Reena Kedson'

Reena Kedson says '_____? Nice to see you. I hope you're here to help us out. These Fear Shards are causing more trouble than we expected. Still, I've had enough of these Alaran gods. We have enough trouble with the Norrathian ones. Let's put an end to this together, as one people. And we have a [plan].'

You say, 'What plan?'

Reena Kedson says 'It's simple. In theory. First, gather [information] on our enemies. Second, we'll have to take out the [scouts] and any other [defenses]. Then, after we gain [access], we'll have to deal with the palace [forces], and recover any [clues] as to their further plans.'

You say, 'What information?'

Reena Kedson says 'First, you'll need to talk to each member of the Valley Expedition so you're up to date. After that, we'll need you out on the field finding what you can. When you are ready, talk to me first.'

You have been assigned the task 'Rise of the Swinetor'.

Gather information about Grelleth and her army. Details about the swinetor's advance will be crucial to the success of the expedition.

Talk with Reena Kedson 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

This opens up the next five steps. All the hail NPCs are found at the zone-in area (note: Relco is a little ways from the pack, northwest).

Consult with Ain Kavus 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

You say, 'Hail, Ain Kavus'

Ain Kavus says '_____, it's good to see you. Thanks to you and your people, my home of Sarith is seeing freedom and safety again. And now, we'll deal with this new threat together as well. The swinetor have never been this bold to my knowledge. This source of Fear is going to put Alaris and all of Norrath in danger.'

Consult with Marrien Kavus 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

You say, 'Hail, Marrien Kavus'

Marrien Kavus says 'Ain and I consider it an honor to work with the Norrathians against this new threat. The swinetor are generally stupid, but they are strong. We may need to test our mettle against their main forces guarding the palace. Just a skirmish. We can't launch a full attack yet.'

Consult with Jaris Calmur 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

You say, 'Hail, Jaris Calmur'

Jaris Calmur says '_____, Reena mentioned you'd be over. That disgusting fortress of refuse is locked up tighter than you would think. They have powerful necromancers and decay priests, as well as brutal warriors, keeping it defended. I think the scouts are the key though. See what you can find on them.'

Consult with Sherri Ganes 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

You say, 'Hail, Sherri Ganes'

Sherri Ganes says 'These swinetor are disgusting, _____. Have you seen that lake and the piles of refuse? I think we can find some clues in there, though. I'm going back out shortly, so let's keep an eye out for anything that might give us some more information on them. Try to keep your lunch down, if you can.'

Consult with Relco Finn 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

You say, 'Hail, Relco Finn'

Relco Finn says 'Oh? So you're _____, huh? All these others keep talkin' about you. Anyway, what we really need to do is see if we can sneak inside and find anything useful. Uh, that's all you though. I'm busy out here.'

Find information on swinetor scouts 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

Kill palace scouts until you get this update.

a palace scout has a tattered note on it. You take it. It's signed by a Turo, and shows instructions on how the scouts should start to spread out over Sarith and start looking up for places to put outposts and camps in the Beast's Domain. This looks serious.

Find information on swinetor palace guards 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

Kill palace guards until you get this update.

a palace guard has a muddy notice tucked into its belt. You remove it. Someone named Zurel has ordered the guards to be on alert for intruders, and shows hints of a push up towards the expedition camp. Reena and the others should hear about this.

Search the polluted lake for information 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

A "Filth-Encrusted Note" is a ground spawn at 2435, 1200, 14 (southeastern coast of the lake). It appears as a scroll on the ground. Right-click it for the update.

The note reads, 'Turo ordered me to take care of pushing back the idiots who have trespassed into our new, much more improved valley. Alarans and Norrathians both. Lelri and Lelro have brought extra beasts to start doing raids. Grab more food during these. Swinetor warriors, I'll get to the point: It's time to smash! - Gulta the Filthy.'

Search the junk piles outside the palace 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

"Wuran's Decree" is a ground spawn at 4160, 25, 110 (south of the palace's entrance ramp). It appears as a book on the ground. Right-click it for the update.

The decree reads, 'Swinetor, fellow worshippers of Sholoth: I will be preparing wards with the help of the necromancers and Kotul to guard us from this expedition that threatens our queen and our eventual domination of this world. We will win, because of Grelleth's power, and because of Sholoth's favor. For Sholoth, Wuran.'

Search the palace entrance for documents 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

"Kotul's Journal Page" is a ground spawn at 5185, -70, 200 (just inside the palace, due north of the doorway that opens into the first big room). It appears as an open book on the ground. Right-click it for the update.

The torn page reads, 'Even the stupidest of my fellow swinetor realize what this new move means. I don't know how it is my mother managed to get this power, but I know it is exactly what we've been waiting for. Zurel has the palace under control, her guards patrolling the corridors regularly at my insistence. This expedition on our doorstep won't be enough to stop us. As for the plans moving forward -.' The rest is cut off.

Report to Reena Kedson 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

You say, 'Hail, Reena Kedson'

Reena Kedson says 'So, Grelleth and her offspring are ready to move. I was afraid of this. I was hoping we'd have more time. Turo is her youngest, is in charge of sending the scouts out. Lelri and Lelro are twins, and are in charge of the beasts. Wuran is the priest of decay who handles palace protection with his sister Zurel, a fighter who organizes the palace guards. That leaves Kotul, her elder son, apparently brilliant for a swinetor and a necromancer to boot. Heh. This is going to make all that business in Windsong Sanctuary look like a treat.'

You've gathered a significant amount of information about Grelleth and her offspring: Turo, Wuran, Lelri, Lelro, Zurel, and Kotul. The expedition will need additional help to have any hope against the swinetor threat.

It took 4 palace scouts for that update, and 10 guards. It's probably random for each kill, but I'm not sure.

The scouts were all killed outside, down on the plain. The guards were killed mostly around the raised outdoor area around the palace entrance where you get the Wuran's Decree, with a couple from the lower plain mixed in. The 10th, and only guard I killed inside the palace, was the one I got the task update from. It's likely a coincidence, but it's possible that the inside guards have a higher chance to give the update.
