This is the second task in a series of three. Upon completion of the previous task:
Y`ssuria the Elder says 'Thank you, _____. I do feel a bit better knowing that you have seen the great scale and that it is safe, but there are many more things that I do [not know] that have me worried.' You say, 'What do you not know?' Y`ssuria the Elder says 'Yes . . . While I cannot venture close to the Reliquary, perhaps you might be able to get a closer look.' You have been assigned the task 'The Agony of Uncertainty'. Though your words brought Y`Ssuria comfort, they mean little to her compared to the sight of the artifact itself. Now that you have tempted her with your titillating tale, she has asked you to embark on a second task. See Merchant Jhenner in Crescent Reach to procure the means to sketch the chamber housing Veeshan's scale. You will need some basic sketching tools and a blank canvas. The act of sketching will require your undivided attention for some time, so you may wish to bring friends to 'eliminate' unwanted distractions. Merchant Jhenner is located at -1405, -1560, 34. From her, buy a set of sketching tools and blank canvas. Then head to the same place in Ashengate and begin your sketch. at 118 got the quest, got the materials, clicked the quill and after a minute i created the sketch. however the quest step did not advance. after 3 more attempts (destroying the sketch and returning to buy another lore blank parchment) finally gave up. (trying to return the created "Sketch of the Scale of Veeshan" to Y'Ssuria did not work since the step to give her the parchment had not unlocked yet)

This is any easy SoS rogue solo. On the edge of the overlook, you are out of mob aggro range (you do become unhid when you use the sketching tools), but no SoS seeing mobs are on the way that Ive seen.

Here are some tricks for level 70+ Necros wanting to do this solo. Prerequisites are runspeed 5 AA, Conjure Corpse AA, DMF, QVoX and Harmshield.
You can bind yourself in Direwind in front of the Ashengate zone line. Bring along a big stack of tiny coffins and Essence Emeralds. Split it into two stacks of the same size. Keep one of the stacks in a top level inventory spot. The first time you enter Ashengate, when you die you can just run back across the zone line and use your AA to summon your corpse. Loot each item individually but don't loot one stack of coffins (the one that was ine top level slot). You now have your EEs so rez the corpse and leave it lieing there. The next time you die, you can loot the stack of coffins, summon your corpse, rinse and repeat. This made it easy to do the Wanderlust quest. After doing that quest, The Sanctity of the Scale seemed trivial (I didn't die once).
Use both Harmshield and QVoX to get to the scale. Start in the middle of the entry room (there is no agro if you stand in the middle). Make sure you have DMV levitation up. Cast QVoX and run down the north hallway. When you get to the big room with the left turn, there are hardly any mobs there. Clicked off QVoX, run to the back wall (straight out from the tunnel), stop and click Harmshield. Make sure you come to a complete stop before casting Harmshield so you don't get a fatal interrupt (that's quite a crowd following you). Then just complete the run to the scale. Just run right off the edge and (with levitation) head towards the rear of the cave at the right (or the big rock in the middle works too) feign death and wait to lose agro.
When you lose agro, run to the big rock beneath the shield and levitate up it (run up any forward slanting surface). When you reach the top, run around to the front of the scale and then leviate up as high as you can. From there you can reach the ledge where you need to make the sketch. You can stand on that ledge without getting any agro. You can now sketch the scale in safety.

Not so hard gettin there, but the scale guards repop right after you kill them and they hit harder than any on the way there. So, if you a cleric bring a back up healer cause you wont be able to spare the 60 seconds to scetch

You don't need to be in combat to sketch this.
Simply levi up one of those huge pilliars that the status are standing in front of... then levi to the very edge of that overhang where you need to do the sketch.
If you levitate to the right spot then you will safely be out of agro range of everything, and can easily do the task.
I simply took a group in, we camped the scale room... and when camp broke I levi up and finish my sketch.

Basically to go to the exact same spot you updated the previous quest on (the furthest point in the north wing of Ashengate -- right on to the tip of the precipice) and click the set of sketching tools (I think it has to be in your primary slot). It takes about one minute and your blank canvas will update into an item you can return to Y'ssuria.
