These shared tasks are available during the holiday season as part of Frostfell events that run from December into the first week of January.

M.C. Tinkerton and his Clockwork Party Machine made their debut in 2005. They are located next to the Great Divide portal in the Plane of Knowledge.

You say, 'Hail, M.C. Tinkerton'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Hello, _____! You've caught me in a bit of a [bind].'

You say, 'What bind?'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'I'm trying to get my clockwork party machine up and running but the dang thing just wont move! Its primary party motivator was stolen by the [Dark Mistletoe giants]!'

You say, 'Who are the Dark Mistletoe Giants?'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'The Dark Mistletoe giants are a grumpy old clan that lives in the Great Divide. Their leader, Old Frostbeard, complained my party machine was keeping him up at nights! Bah! The old geezer goes to bed at five thirty in the afternoon! We'd be well within our rights to [steal it back]!'

You say, 'Will you steal it back?'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Wait a minute, _____! Steal it back? That's a great idea! Why didn't I think of that? Here's what you need to do! Once you return with that motivator, we're going to party like it's 3199!'

From here, you can choose one of three tasks:

Frostbeard's Lesser Minions (for groups under Level 30)
Frostbeard's Greater Minions (for groups Level 30-50)
Frostbeard's Elite Minions (for groups Level 50+)

After completing one of those tasks, you can request another:

Old Frostbeard (for groups 60+)

Frostbeard's Lesser Minions

Kill 10 Dark Mistletoe Clan Scouts 0/10 (Great Divide)

Kill Scout Master Hemlock 0/1 (Great Divide)

The above mobs are found around the giant mountaintop in the center of the Great Divide. They are levels 19-21.

Frostbeard's Elite Minions

The Dark Mistletoe Clan lives in the Great Divide. Careful, these giants are well versed in the use of potions and other forms of nastiness. They once put some holly thorns in someone's eggnog and didn't even think twice about it! They're pretty crazy like that!

Venture to the Great Divide and take out 10 Dark Mistletoe Elders. Then give Elder Gnarled Pine a sound thrashing! The gods know he deserves it! When you've cleared those goblins out of the way, you'll be ready to get my motivator back from Old Frostbeard.

Kill 10 Dark Mistletoe Clan Elders 0/10 (Great Divide)

Kill Elder Gnarled Pine 0/1 (Great Divide)

The above mobs are found around the giant mountaintop in the center of the Great Divide. They are levels 60-64.

Return to M.C. Tinkerton 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)

You say, 'Hail, M.C. Tinkerton'

Old Frostbeard

It's time to get my machine's party motivator back. Look for Old Frostbeard. He stands on a high mountain amidst his summoned storms. He's big and nasty and cold. You can't miss him. Get a group and steal back my motivator.

Scatter five of Old Frostbeard's summoned winds 0/5 (Great Divide)

The above mobs are found around the giant mountaintop in the center of the Great Divide. Old Frostbeard is found on the east side of the mountaintop. He hits for a max ~725.

The mobs in this task summon. The dervishes cast "Blizzard of the North Wind". Old Frostbeard also casts that spell as well as "Gale of the West Wind".

Blizzard of the North Wind: Unknown(32) 100', Cold (-200)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 1375
2: Decrease Attack Speed by 50%

Gale of the West Wind: Single Target, Cold (-200)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 500 per tick
2: Decrease AC by 300

Recover the party motivator and return it to M.C. Tinkerton 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)

This drops from Old Frostbeard. On handing it in to M.C. Tinkerton:

M.C. Tinkerton gives you his thanks for returning the primary party motivator.

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Well done, my friend. Let me just slide that party motivator back into place.'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Hmm. . .'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Should be working. . .'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Initial-i-zing par-ty start-er sequence one-one-niner.'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Pri-mary firework cannons: online.'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Gy-ro-scopic dance mod-u-lator: online.'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Par-ty favor dis-per-sal hopper: online.'

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Initial-i-zation complete. Beginning par-ty start-er sequence one-one-niner'

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Whew! It worked! Thanks again, my friend, and have a happy new year.'

Rewards (for everyone in the task):

Emerald of the New Year

In addition, several chests spawn around the Party Machine and have various items in them (some champagne, fireworks, and invisibility potions).

Received 1 dose potion of group Mist of the Ant in chests after completion.

There is also a free chest available tucked into the base of the Great Divide Stone in POK that has free party stuff in it. Was there before the quests so not a reward - just something for everyone I guess.

Can't complete this quest. Old Frostbeard is nowhere to be found. Using a tracker, and checking all over. He isn't around.

When hailing M.C. Tinkerton I do not get a choice of tasks. I am given "Frostbeard's Lesser Minions" repeatedly. My group is all lvl 105 so I should be getting "Frostbeard's Elite Minions." Also, upon completing the Lesser Minion task I do not get "Old Frostbeard". This has happened several times. I have killed the scattered storms and spawned Old Frostbeard, looted the Clockwork Party Starter however M.C Tinkerton will not accept it, no doubt because I have been unable to get the task "Old Frostbeard".

Task: Old Frostbeard
This is a group task with two stages:
1. Scatter five of Old Frostbeard's summoned winds.
(Kill 5 'Frostbeard`s summoned storm', scattered around the west side of the mountains at the center of Great Divide).
2. Recover the Party Motivator and Return it back to M.C. Tinkerton.
(Kill Old Frostbeard, loot from him the Clockwork Party Starter, and give it to M.C. Tinkerton. Note: This stage of the task is updated by handing the item in to M.C. Tinkerton, not from killing or looting. I got the drop before I even got the task and it worked with no problems).

Upon completing the second stage:
M.C. Tinkerton gives you his thanks for returning the primary party motivator.
You gain experience!!
You have been given: Emerald of the New Year
M.C. Tinkerton says 'Well done, my friend. Let me just slide that party motivator back into place.'
M.C. Tinkerton says 'Hmm. . . '
M.C. Tinkerton says 'Should be working. . . '

(Clockwork Party Machine starts to do a dance....it appears to be 'the robot').

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Initial-i-zing par-ty start-er sequence one-one-niner.'
Clockwork Party Machine says 'Pri-mary firework cannons: online. '
Clockwork Party Machine says 'Gy-ro-scopic dance mod-u-lator: online. '
Clockwork Party Machine says 'Par-ty favor dis-per-sal hopper: online. '
Clockwork Party Machine says 'Initial-i-zation complete. Beginning par-ty start-er sequence one-one-niner'
M.C. Tinkerton begins to cast a spell.
M.C. Tinkerton says 'Whew! It worked! Thanks again, my friend, and have a happy new year. '

Six chests now appear in a circle around the two.
Free Party Favors regards you indifferently -- You could probably win this fight.

These each contain a random assortment of party related items. In total the six contained:
13 Champagne, 3 Firework: Typhoon Dragon, 2 Firework: Phantom Fire, 1 Firework: Volcano Burst, 6 Firework: Dancing Lights, 1 Mist of the Ant, 1 Potion of Invisibility, 3 Party Cake.

Attempted to get Old Frostbeard task (the final one) with a group of 72,71,71,71,71,53. Average is >68, but getting a message that the level spread is too high. Was able to get the 2nd highest, but not highest. Anyone know what level spread is needed to get final task?

The group avg level has to be 68 to get the Old Frostbeard task for the final item. You need such a high group because the mobs are very very mean. The summoned mobs I beleive are lvl 70, and Old Frost beard is probably 72+

I'd like to thank Sony for giving us very easy ways of getting great upgrades, this season!

first one was the Bone Mask for completing the Halloween event. also if you did the MonsterMission that was part of it, you had the chance to get a Shield of the Void that was also very neat. And for the holidays we have this awesome range slot!

Very nice for those who are not in raid guilds and cannot get much better. Even if you're not at level 70 to get the best version, the lesser version for lower level chars are still pretty good and has the same effects!
Greater Minions

Kill 10 Dark Mistletoe Guards
Kill Champion Stinging Nettle
Return to MC Tinerton in PoK

all mobs DB at lvl 48. Did it solo in about an hour (48 shm with virt, KEI, self-buffs ... Pet fully equipped with hands, muzzle and belt and only what buffs I could give it). a couple of double pulls to break camp, not too difficult.

Stinging Nettle doesn't hit dramatically harder than guards, but has a LOT of HP. had slow wear off twice, used entire mana bar, canni'd 1/2 my life and was still oom at end of fight. He does rampage from time to time.

NOTE: Mobs with sword and shield seem to be War class, with hammer seem to be CLR, no eqip Wiz. Plan pulls accordingly.

hope this helps someone.

Old Frostbeard (high tier version)

- Kill 5 Frostbeard's summoned storms
- Recover the Primary Party Motivator from Old Frostbeard
- Return the Primary Party Motivator to M.C. Tinkerton

Yellow text appears upon turn-in:
M.C.Tinkerton gives you his thanks for returning the primary party motivator.
You gain experience!!
You have been given: Emerald of the New Year

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Well done, my friend. Let me just slide that party motivator back into place.'
M.C. Tinkerton says 'Hmm...'
M.C. Tinkerton says 'Should be working...'

A few seconds pass, then the gnome kicks the Clockwork Party Machine.

Clockwork Party Machine says 'Initial-izing par-ty start-er sequence one-one-niner.'
Clockwork Party Machine says 'Pri-mary firework cannons: online.'
Clockwork Party Machine says 'Gy-ro-scopic dance mod-u-lator: online.'
Clockwork Party Machine says 'Par-ty favor dis-per-sal hopper: online.'
Clockwork Party Machine says 'Initial-i-zation complete. Beginning par-ty start-er sequence one-one-niner'

The Clockwork Party Machine does "the robot" dance, followed by spinning in the air and spawning 4 chests named 'Free Party Favors' when targetted. The chests contained expendable 'Firework:Dancing Lights', 'Party Cake' no-trade stat food, and 'Champagne'.

M.C. Tinkerton says 'Whew! It worked! Thanks again, my friend, and have a happy new year.'

The tier 2 and 3 mobs also spawn around the EW zone line / Nexus spires area. I think 4 elders spawn in that area and about that many guards.

tier 2, 3, and 4 all spawn on the mountain in center of GD all around its base and up the sides tier 1 also spawns near the mountain but they can wander away (some of tier 2 do as well but there are static spawns also)

also anyone know if you can turn in all 4 for a better reward?

In GD, middle of zone on mountain. We had to keep killing a few extra storms to get him to spawn. but from what I hear, he pops random places on the mtn.

from what i have seen doing this quest, at lvl 70 i was able to get the 4th task, and then u can invite 65+ into group and /taskadd them to recieve mission and they will recieve emerald. i haven't tried getting the task as any lvl lower so i'm not sure if lvl 65+ are able to see the task on the list. my understanding is that if you are too low of a lvl for a specific quest, then it will not show up on the list. and also you will not be allowed to be /taskadded to the mission. i guess soe just did this to avoid a lvl 1 getting the emerald version of the prize now, but rather only allow those of proper lvl to attain it.

I was grouped with a lvl 70 SK, and a lvl 58 cleric. we requested missions and it only gave us the first 3. we all disbanded, and tried to get solo. me and the sk were able to get the 4th mission and the cleric was not able to. we invited a 61 shaman and had the same problem. when we tried to taskadd the 61 it said that required lvl was 65. just so you know how i recieved the information that i posted.

Just to clarify:

I am level 52 and had no troubles getting or finishing any portion of each of the four tasks. I own this with no troubles. Yes, Level 1's cannot get this item, but not for the reason you list. It is REQUIRED level 55. That is the lowbie failsafe.
