Night of Shadows Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor You can obtain this task from Kejaan Kerrath in Darklight Caverns. You can find Kejaan at /waypoint 624, 13, 212. He is on the find tool as well CTRL F. You say, 'Hail, Kejaan Kerrath' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'I last told you about all the fighting between the descendants of Kajek, Karani, Shahar, and Shir. Are you ready to hear the story's [conclusion]? If you don't want to hear me ramble, we can skip right to my [final advice] for you.' You say, 'What's the conclusion?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'The clan leaders grew old and regretful. They recognized that none of them were the 'Wise One', and that their squabbles had been ultimately meaningless. They urged the next generation to let go of the hatred each clan had for one another. This was [not easy] for some.' You say, 'Who was it not easy for?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'You'll recall that Kajek and Shir both wanted to claim the Stonebrunt Mountains, but Shir was instead left with barren land until, somehow, he could travel to the moon we now know as Luclin. The resentment between the two grew into deep-rooted, pervasive prejudice that affected their entire clans. Even generations later, it wasn't easy for the clans to [let go] of the preconceptions each had about the other.' You say, 'Did they let go of them?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'Safra, Kajek's granddaughter, met with Vahaan, Shir's grandson, to negotiate peace. Determined to right the wrongs of their predecessors, they did what their grandparents had done decades before. They climbed to the tallest peak of the Stonebrunt Mountains and asked the spirits for [guidance].' You say, 'What guidance did they receive?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'The spirits said, 'Ask yourselves, 'What is important?' Then, have the courage to build your lives around the answer. Focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new. Let the graves of the kerrans who fell in battle always remind you of this.' In an instant, the spirits disappeared and the world grew silent. Then, through the mist and rocks, [stepped forth] the Wise One.' You say, 'Who was it that stepped forth?' Kejaan Kerrath chuckles, his eyes sparkling. 'A kerran by the [name] of Kejaan Kerrath.' You say, 'Isn't that your name?' [Kejaan Kerrath says, 'That's right. I am the Wise One. At the time, I was completely unaware of this fact; I was a simple nomad, expanding my horizons by climbing a mountain. I suppose the spirits saw something in me that I did not, and that's why fate made my path cross with Safra and Vahaan's. I believe my current purpose is to bestow all the things I learned as King onto others. So, I'd love to give you my [final advice].' You say, 'What's your final advice?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'I was welcomed by the kerrans with high hopes and open arms. The clans didn't know how to unite as one, so they looked to me for guidance. My first proclamation was: 'We kerrans are far too wise to be the only things standing in the way of our strength and happiness. It is time to start moving forward. We'll start with doubt. Pain. Fear. But the important thing is that we will start.' And so, I began to [intertwine] the clans.' You say, 'How did you intertwine them?' [Sat Feb 17 21:36:24 2024] Kejaan Kerrath says, 'Clan Shahar lived in the plentiful forests of Odus, so they became the hunters and farmers of my kingdom. Clan Karani was filled with skilled crafters, so I made them my artisans and traders. Clan Kajek was filled with scholars, so they became my advisors. Clan Shir was filled with warriors who became the kingdom's guards. It was abundantly clear that the four were stronger when [united] as one.' You say, 'Are you going to teach me about the importance of being united?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'Yes. The unusual creatures in this cave all excel at different things. Try to identify the unique characteristics that make each strong. The best way to figure out their strengths will be to fight them. You can put everything you collect in this bag. Then, return to me with your discoveries.' You have been assigned the task 'A Lesson in Forgiveness'. After years of strife, the 'Wise One' of the kerran prophecy finally appeared: Kejaan Kerrath. Though it wasn't easy, he was able to unite the clans and help their kingdom prosper. Years later, the arrival of the erudites ushered in a period of unease, eventually culminating in a tumultuous encounter between Kejaan and the Cazicites. Kejaan wants to teach you a final lesson about unification, love, and forgiveness. Kejaan would like you to battle various creatures around the cave and identify what characteristics give them their unique strengths. Kill an overgrown nematode. You complete the trade with Kejaan Kerrath. Speak to Kejaan and discuss your discoveries. You say, 'Hail, Kejaan Kerrath' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'Wonderful job, Shabu. Much like the clans, each of these creatures is very distinct in their capabilities. Now, [watch] how I unite them....'' You say, 'I'm watching.' Kejaan Kerrath forms the spider silk into a bowl, then places the root within it. He crushes the flower fangs and sprinkles them on top. Kejaan Kerrath says, 'I harvested a seed from the nightlight petunia fruit you gave me.' He shows it to you in his hand, then puts it into the bowl. 'The spider webs form a strong structure. The fangs make potent fertilizer. The roots can sap the magical energy in the cave. Let's see what [happens] to the seed when we add water from the nematode gullet.' You say, 'What happens?' Kejaan Kerrath lowers the bowl so you can see into it. Something mystical happens. The root tendrils begin pulling sparkling spirit energy from the cavern air. Kejaan covers the bowl with his hand. When he lifts it, the nightlight petunia seed has sprouted. 'Look, Shabu, at the way things can bloom with a little help from the world around it. It's the perfect representation of the kerran clans growing stronger once they unified under my [rule].' You say, 'What was life like under your rule?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'We prospered. If you've seen Shar Vahl, then you'll have an idea of what our kingdom looked like. Decades after our unification, the erudites arrived on Odus. They wielded magic and elements in ways we had never seen before. They did not take kindly to us, nor us to them, but we did our best to stay on our own sides of the island. There was no devastating conflict until the [Cazicites] emerged.' You say, 'Who were the Cazicites?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'They are a faction of the erudites, banished for practicing necromancy. Their rituals impacted the spirits that we kerrans communed with. They were corrupted and used in the Cazicites' dark magic. My people felt helpless against the strength the Cazicites wielded. Each time we skirmished with them, we were left with nearly no survivors. Enough was enough. I lead through action. So I ventured out to discuss [peace] with the Cazicites.' You say, 'Did you make peace with them?' Your task 'A Lesson in Forgiveness' has been updated. Kejaan Kerrath says, 'Heh. Try it for yourself. You and this cave have had a hostile relationship. Take this petunia sprout and try offering it as a symbol of peace. Instead of hurting one another, maybe you and the beings in this cave can grow peacefully like this seed. Use this sprout as a peace offering to a nematode, a spider, a root creature, and a living flower. Then, come back and tell me what happens.' You are given a Nightlight Petunia Sprout. When you target any of the following creatures and click the Nightlight Petunia Sprout, they will attack. It is suggested to just engage them in battle. Everyone can freely right click the creature during battle to update these steps. If you try to click on the sprout and you've already offered it to this type of creature, it will show: You've already offered this kind of creature the sprout. Try a different one. Kejaan would like you to offer the nightlight petunia sprout to nematode, spider, root creature, and living flower. He'd like you to experience what it's like to negotiate peace with those hostile beings. Target a nematode creature and click the Nightlight Petunia Sprout. Your task 'A Lesson in Forgiveness' has been updated. The nematode looks at the sprout curiously when you extend it as a gift. In seconds, it loses interest and begins to attack you. Target a spider creature and click the Nightlight Petunia Sprout. Your task 'A Lesson in Forgiveness' has been updated. The spider immediately lunges at you. Target a root creature and click the Nightlight Petunia Sprout. Your task 'A Lesson in Forgiveness' has been updated. The root creature whips your hand away and aggressively attacks you. Target a flower creature and click the Nightlight Petunia Sprout. Your task 'A Lesson in Forgiveness' has been updated. The living flower ignores your offer and attacks you. Give the nightlight petunia sprout back to Kejaan Kerrath. You offered 1 Nightlight Petunia Sprout to Kejaan Kerrath. Your task 'A Lesson in Forgiveness' has been updated. Kejaan Kerrath says, 'Oh dear. It didn't go well, did it, Shabu? I would be lying if I said I didn't expect this. If you have a moment, let us discuss this further.' You complete the trade with Kejaan Kerrath. Discuss the outcome of your peace offerings with Kejaan Kerrath. You say, 'Hail, Kejaan Kerrath' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'It didn't go well when I met with the Overlord of the Cazicites either. To show him I wanted peace, I offered a gem from my crown. I expected nothing tangible in return. All I asked was that the Cazicites leave our spirits alone. Unfortunately, the Overlord was truly, irredeemably [evil]. He had no regard for me, for the kerrans, or for our spirits.' You say, 'What evil did he commit?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'I was invited to the palace on false pretenses. I was ambushed and thrown into prison. Day in and day out, cultists sat outside my cell and chanted dark, vile things. Each time, their ritual drained parts of my soul. I don't know what their intentions were. Perhaps they wanted to leave me a soulless husk. Maybe it strengthened them. But one day, a spirit spoke to me and showed me a way out. Though I was battered, starved, and weak, I escaped under the cover of darkness. Eventually, I made it back [home].' You say, 'What ensued when you got home?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'I knew I was not long for this world, so I bequeathed all the knowledge I could to my son, Vah. As I passed, the spirits presented me with a final gift. They ascended me to the level of a primal spirit and I became what you see before you now. In this form, I could watch over the kerrans even after death. I am forever grateful that the spirits could grant me this [serenity].' You say, 'You felt serenity even though you were killed?' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'I did not immediately find peace after my passing. I was bitter that the Cazicites lived on without retribution for their actions.' Kejaan Kerrath pauses and thinks. 'Would you humor me for a moment? I promise it's related. I'd like you to think about all the things in life that you love. Think hard and make a [list] in your mind.' You say, 'I've thought of a list.' Kejaan Kerrath says, 'Good. May I ask how long it took you to put yourself on that list? Did you at all? Although it can be hard, the most important things I can teach you are: [Love yourself and forgive others].' You say, 'How do you love yourself and forgive others?' Your task 'A Lesson in Forgiveness' has been updated. You have received a replay timer for 'A Lesson in Forgiveness': 0d:1h:0m remaining. Kejaan Kerrath smiles and nods at you. Kejaan Kerrath says, 'I am happy with the things I accomplished. I'm at peace knowing I lived the best life I could, even if my death wasn't a happy one. It takes great strength to forgive someone who isn't sorry, but if it's out of your hands then it deserves to be out of your mind too. So, I forgive the Overlord and the Cazicites, and I have put them out of my mind. I hope that you, too, heal from all the wrongs that no one ever apologized to you for, and I pray that you love yourself. With time, you will heal, grow, and flourish like the flowers in this cave.'
