You say, 'hail Malloy the Songbird'

Malloy the Songbird says 'Hello Dryanna ! I am Malloy the Songbird. Are you just [traveling] through, or would you like to hear a [song] of my adventures?

You say, 'what song'

Malloy the Songbird says 'Ah well, I'm sorry, I do not have time to sing my joyful and mournful songs today. I have traveled back to Norrath from the Hall of the Realm of Heroes to reward those that perform heroic acts in the eyes of the gods. Perhaps if you come back later, I may have time for a song or two.

You say, 'what if i am traveling'

Malloy the Songbird says 'Very well then, Good Luck to you on your travels. If you journey to Qeynos, you may want to speak to Jaylia the Faithful. She has adventures of her own that she may wish to tell you.

You say, 'what of the realm of heroes'

You say, 'what of your adventures'

Well, I've spoken with Malloy...and it is like getting blood out of a stone if you ask me. Time and time again, I've rephrased my questions to the Bard...and time and time again...he takes like forever to answer or finish is 'farting' around with alot of sweet words and even longer pauses. When I think that he has nothing more to say...I think my back to run off and then...HALLO...he starts singing!

He didn't tell me to go to Qeynos City...just ended what he was saying right then and there. So I left.

But if the Quest hasn't been written yet, I for one would like to know what it is. ;P
Plane of Music

Wonder if it is possible for Verant to implement a method that would allow only those accounts tagged as involved in the Hero quest to download the appropriate Plane files??? Bet ya didn't think of that one when you assumed that since the files were not on your machine the zone cannot exist. ;) BRU HA HA!

They are every where!
# Aug 25 2001 at 6:51 PM Rating: Decent
I recently got the urge to check out all of the races and classes and thus have begun a quest of on pc in every combination possible. In that quest I have found a Realm of Heroes NPC in every town of size. There is a Dwarf in Kaladim near the warrior guild, an ogre in Oggock, a paladin in Qeynos, A barbarian in Hallas, a lizzard in Cabalis, and the bard in Freeport.
I feel there is one in every town, I have not tripped on any more. It has become a passive quest for me, the Realm of Heroes.

The answer is already posted below. These npc's are for people who recieve coins in GM events. Not the usual mob appears and butchers everyone, but the special events that are part of the EQ story line. 2 of my friends took part in one of these (b*stards didn't call me to tell me to log on). They and 2 others retrieved some books for Alkabor and he rewarded them with a NO RENT coin and told them to take it to one of the heroes of the realm that could be found in their home cities. They all went to the same npc in Kelethin but recieved different awards based off the coins they had. Each coin had a different name, like Coin Of Bravery , Knowledge, stuff like that (can't remember the exact name but it was along those lines). The items they recieved in return were NOT godlike as someone suggested, they were nice items typically with a couple of stat bonuses around the +4 +5 range. Good loot but nothing to compare with stuff dropping in the high end dungeons.

They give the coins out to role players at GM events. Each class has a "hero" accosiated with it.

You can sometimes find coins in bodies of water in cities. I wonder if that is what he talks of?

No, sorry... those are for an Enchanter quest.
Also one in WFP

There's a bard in WFP where everyone does their brewing, or more correctly, on the side of the white building away from the building with brew barrel. He says the same thing, spins big tales. Think i'll /petition for the quest.

The only way to do this quest is to participate in a GM quest. They will give you a coin that you then hand to this npc and then they give you an item that is godly (sometimes only demi-godly). That's all there is to these npcs throughout the world that speak of the realm of the heroes. Hope this clears things up.

It doesnt exsist now but it might one day.... if the planes are the home of gods and demi gods, and the goddess of music, (ayonae ro I believe) has her own plane, verant might very well decide to make the plane of music a zone

Others from realm of heroes

I've come across other people from the realm of hereos throughout norrath. An NPC in Cabilis who tells his tale about training under 2 mastaers who hated eachother. This young iksar later defeted both masters using the other masters training. The iksar did many other great deeds and became tribe leader of the iksars. He was taken to the realm of heroes then much later sent back to norrath to gather more heroic adventurers

Whilst wandering around Freeport, I spied this NPC lazily stood next to a tree and hailed him [Mallory].

He then asked me if I was travelling or if I had time, would I like to hear some of his tales. When I remarked that I was travelling, he informed me that Jaylia the Faithful (see above) has some tales of her own to tell.

However, I was in no particular hurry as I had no particular destination in mind, so I asked Mallory to relate some of his tales. Mostly, they related to his childhood spent growing up on his [farmstead]. Although, he did mention a tale about the [Realm of Hereos].

When I pressed him about this tale [Realm of Hereos] he broke into song and verse about his travels from Qeynos to Freeport, when upon he spied a [vision of loveliness], who possessed such beauty he had not seen before.

So entranced by his songs that she whisked him to the [Plane of music] and asked him to perform in a concert with other beings. She is then refered to as the 'Maestra' - Ayonae Ro.

I have yet to go to Qeynos to talk to Jaylia -- perhaps Jaylia can elaborate a little more on:
(1) who this vision of loveliness is. Is she Ayonae Ro? (2) maybe the start of a quest to discover directions to the Plane of Music (if such a plane exists).

Interesting tales if a traveller has time to rest their weary feet.

Malloy sings

I talked to Malloy today, and he sang his songs (not very good ones,) and told me about the realm of Heroes. I gave him some money and he said thanks. That's more than just saying he doesn't have time. Didn't send me anywhere, though.

Prolly hasn't had a story completed yet... just tossed in with all the rest and had some filler text put in...

It could be that. The poster doesn't say what their faction was with this Hero. I'll stop by this evening and check it out. Maybe with my high charisma and the fact that I'm a Bard she'll be nicer to me and sing me her song.
