Opal Darkbriar [ Necromancer Guildmaster ]  

Created a human necro (Nov7-2003)for something different.FOund myself in a dark dingy room with a female Dark elf..Conned her and she was amiable so i hailed her "Opal Darkbriar".
After a discussion regarding hate and Innoruk she asked me to take a letter to her brother "Perrir Zexus" at the spires in Neriak.
What the hell im level one i got nothing to use :)..So off i head to Neriak conning everything after i hit Nektulos Forest..I find "Perrir"in the 3rdGate(end zone)to find out he is the Cleric GM..he conned dubious I hand him the letter,receve 1and half yellow bubs of xp,faction PLUS with King Naythox,Priests Of Innoruuk & Opal Darkbriar..then conned him and it was upto Indifferent..I thenhailed him and he asked me to fetch him a Leatherfoot Raider Skullcap from the halflings in the forest,after handing this in (a further half yello bub of xp)faction plus with Priests of Innoruuk and minuses with a cupl of tunare factions..Hailed him again and he said he sensed a great deal of Hate within me but i needed to dore more..Oh well gonna try handing in more caps and see what happens next..As a Hum Necro (Innoruuk worshipper)could walk thru all zones of Neriak and was only KOS to ghouls outside of Nec Guild..

According to the "Realms of Norrath: Freeport", from the EQ Role-playing Game, Opal Dark Briar (as it is spelled in the book) was one of the original members of the Divine Rage (now known as the Dismal Rage). This group was sent out by decree of the king and queen of Neriak, with a mission to undermine the authority of Aataltaal, a high elf that was rebuilding Freeport (or "Landing" as it was called at the time) after the fall of the Combine Empire. Keeping mostly to the tunnels under the city, the Divine Rage plotted, until one night they got together with the orcs and attacked Aataltaal and his army, expecting to win. However, the Arcanists joined up with Aataltaal and together they defeated the orcs and the Rage, and Opal Dark Briar was the only Divine Rage leader that escaped. From that night on, the group was known as the Dismal Rage, and the fate of Aataltall is unknown (though some guess that he may have taken dark elf form and may have followed them back to Neriak in order to infiltrate their city). Since it was the Academy of Arcane Science that caused her downfall, Opal Dark Briar kept a close eye on them. Back before necromancers were expelled from the Academy of Arcane Science, she made up a name and a story that she was essentially a dark elf traitor and human sympathizer, and she infiltrated the Academy. She then seduced a high elf wizzie by the name of Savean Moonsun, and she stole his spirit and locked it in a shard. With this shard, she can make herself look like a high elf, and if she maintains the illusion for long periods of time, even begins to act and think like a high elf. As the high elf, Sapphire Moonshadow, she rose through the ranks of the guild and bcame the wizzie guildmaster. As the dark elf, Opal Dark Briar, eventually she broke off from the clerics of Innoruuk and formed the Church of the Firstborn (necros and sk's). Hope that helps. :)

My dwarven rogue is KOS to the Opal in East Freeport. I was running out from the rogues guild and headed out through the slum area, and all of a sudden got attacked for 354 points of damage and got feared. Made it to the zone though.

Not sure if dwarven rogues are KOS to her to start with, or if it's a faction I have taken hits in during my career.

Hmmm. I'm a dark elf wiz, and I'd really like to be able to train and buy spells in FP - but they won't talk to me! (I'm agnostic, so the guards aren't a problem.) The quests to raise the Arcane Scientist faction lower faction with Opal Darkbriar. What's an inkie wiz to do?

Sooooo, anyone know how raise faction with the -correct- Opal Darkbriar? And whether the spell merchants are the same faction as other FP merchants? And how I raise FP merchant faction? Thanks.

I think it's fairly likely that Opal Darkbriar is the mole in the Arcane Scientists for the Dismal Rage (I think that's the faction the necros are tied to). I don't know what race the EFP one is, but find it very silly that she'd be a High Elf like the Arcane Scientist. Since Opal Darkbriar facton Darkbriar is a necromancer, and the Arcane Scientists one is a wizard, well why can't she be an enchanter too? Like Miragul, utilising the abilities of all disciplines of magic. The fact that she's in the same place at once...we can pretend she's just really fast.

Perhaps Opal has finally discovered the way to make a duplicate of herself, in a different form, race, and even make it talk!! Well ill be damned, them casters have finally found a way to defeat the purpose of disguise!

Before I knew this, I turned in my human wizard newbie note to Opal Darkbriar and my faction with her got worse. It was the other one hehehehe i was scared for a minute

I'm KoS (found out the hard way) with the necro version but my faction is fine with the one in the Arcane Order. I think the factions listed above are for the 'good' Opal. You can also lose 'evil' Opal faction by killing the named prisoner in HighKeep.

It would be nice if Verant put in an Opal1 and Opal2 faction. *grin*

Yes, she is a Dark Elf in the Dismal Rage guild, and also a High Elf in the Hall of Arcane Science.. I hailed the Dark Elf version and she merely gave her greetings. The High Elf said nothing though. I don't believe the work off the same faction, since they regarded me in different ways
