Yes I am replying to a really old question. Serra is Baenar's daughter. His wife left him for Maligar and Maligar abused the daughter and killed her. This is easier to know if Baenar's dialogues are posted in the Singing Short Sword epic write up. You're supposed to be Denzel in Man on Fire and the epic write up drops the ball.

Braenar Swiftsong is located at -17.59, 90.86. There is a pool in the middle of several other NPC's (one of which is Vhalen (Cool name)) and Baenar is due West of the fountain about 15 paces next to a tree. Can't miss him if you have the Loc and track.

I see alot of messages on killing him but none really on Epic quest. After getting the note, I came back to turn it in and he wasn't there.I saw Vhalen and checked my coordinates and tracking a zillon times. Considering this was 3am and noone in zone, i don't believe someone killed him. Is Vhalen a PH? Whats his spawn time??
VHalen is not a placeholder - I've seen them both up at the same time. Though he popped while people were killing everything in SK trying to get Quillmane to spawn.

I didn't go looking for the quest till I lead a 4 day raid into PoH. Here's what I can say on the mobs...
1. The Deathrot Knight. Easiest level 63 mob you'll encounter. 2 groups of mid 50s should deal with him easily.
2. an unkempt fanatic. Again 2 groups should make her an easy target. But you'll have to move to her, not pulled. She won't move to chase ya, but she will nuke ya. So, have the groups move to her. She does wander so prolly best to ambush her away from the druids.
3. Ikurenm the Sly. Did him with a 62 rogue, 56 monk, me at 58, a 61 enchanter and 57 druid. Work your way up to the 3rd floor. Enter Ikurenm's room under invis. He can't see thru. Melees surround Iku. Don't snare, root, charm or stun. Be sure to switch weapons to ones that don't proc those, or does a knockback. Then attack where he stands. Stay in his melee range at all times. Did him in one try.
4. Zrithsadioun. The most god awful camp I've had the torture to wait for. Zrith spawns bout 1x in a 24hour period, but can spawn as soon as 12 hours from last spawn. He spawns very near a level 50 bard named Baynard Swiftson will beat up Zrith. Here's what I did to succeed....
Park you character bout 1/2 way tween Baynard and the well, sit and use Hide. You can step away from the puter now and do your house chores, but have the speakers up. When you hear a spell being cast or some fighting, this is it. Observe the fight. If Zrith is winnning, let him kill off Baynard, then attack Zrith in his weakened state (cuz Baynard hits for up to 195).
If Baynard is winning (which is what happened to me), wait till Zrith is down to his last bubble of health, then ambush Baynard till Baynard turns on you. Hopefully Zrith will help you take Baynard to his last bubble. I was able to keep this going till both mobs went into run mode (their last bubbles of health). KILL THE BARD FIRST! This is very important because the bard will get the kill because he did the most damage to Zirth. You will get nice exp and NO factions. Unfortunetly, there is no lute for loot. Then deal with Zrith in his weakened state.
If you find Zrith roaming the zone, then he's already beaten Baynard, and is probably back to full strength so be sure to get a group of about mid 50s to deal with him.
It took me 5 days, one session for 18 hours straight to get Zrith, by far the worst wait I've had, so bring a book. :)

Didnt know what he was for, Killed him tonight. No faction hits, blue to me at 55. Everything stuck, nothing resisted, just rooted and rotted.
I don't see any factions listed. Would I have to run if I saw him? Is he on Bard faction or none at all? I'm an Ogre warrior. Glared at threateningly to most other bards. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Not bard faction, because I kill VHalen all the time - and swiftsong is still dubious to me. Haven't killed him yet so i don't know if he produces any factions hits.

Had to talk to this guy a couple of times for part of my epic.. He is level 50, not 45.
I tried to whack him at 55... good buffed pet, all my own buffs up, entire lineup of DoTs ready... he resisted Darkness, ignored my pet and charged right for me, and punched me for 193HP before I managed to FD. He then proceeded to chew through my pet in under 10 seconds. Needless to say I won't be trying this again anytime soon...

baenar swiftsong conned white to my level 50 monk the last time I saw him. perhaps his level varies.
