Dark Sendings vary in appearance. I saw them as Skeletons, Owl Bears, Goranga and others.

Grieg's Notes

We took in two groups of 6 and started at the DS zone. All members were lvl 50 to 57. We cleared the zone area of about a dozen mobs in 20 minutes or so. They were Dark Sendings and Dark Visions all blue or light blue to a 52. Some kind of poison no drop glove dropped right by the door. We moved in to the courtyard and set up a camp. Then the fun began. Each mob that the monk pulled took on a different form, but the form was different to each viewer. Sometimes one of those attacking would take on the form of something else. I, a male woodelf Ranger, was turned into a naked woodelf female, a lightcrawler, an owlbear and some kind of 4 armed geisha. At least from my point of view. Interesting. We moved in deeper to a tomb where Grieg himself appeared. I couldn't con him. A couple in the group could. He conned red indifferent. I must note that I checked my tracking often in there and Grieg seemed to be constantly moving although he appears as a statue. We had one mishap. The monk pulled an Umbral Somnium. He hits up into the 200's and has a nasty AoE Blind spell. Very high magic resist. This caught us off guard. Our cleric did a great job click healing his group while blind. The mob went down but dropped nothing of note. We fought for about 3 hours. Had the one glove drop, one Shaman spell, lots of pages and words and about 110pp. We are still debating the faction hits we took against Luclin, Grieg and Dark Sendings.
Odd Encounter

Myself and a lvl 53 monk zoned into Griegs End last night. We were doing fine killing some undead mobs at first that were blue to both of us when out of the blue appeared a Dark Vision. Kicked my butt in three hits and I zoned only to leave the monk Feigned in the first room after entering from Dawn Shroud. This Dark Vision appeared from now where, was hitting me for around 204 a pop and the monk was getting hits in the 190's. I healed up and medded up to full and re-entered the zone to attempt it again but a little more prepared. The Dark Vision was no more, but the monk managed to find a Dark Sending.
From what I can tell these mobs are not undead when they take form. The monk put up a good fight and the Dark Sending seemed to regen faster than a well trained lvl 53 monk could dish out damage. After what seemed to be a 5 minute smacking session we retreated to the DS zone again. Not willing to give up just yet we healed and got mana back to full and charged back in for one more round. When we got back in the monk found another undead zombie type mob (can't remember what it was named and not listed in the zone list yet) and we killed it with ease. Then another Dark Sending appeared. This was the oddest thing I have ever seen in two years of EQ. The mob was was now a gnome looking creature with a centipede creature figting with it and on my screen my monk was now a camel looking creature. Understand that the monk is my husband in RL and in the same room. On his screen he was normal (or as normal as a lizard can look) and the mobs looked like people. This was odd so the illusion capabilities of this mob seem to be random and they don't seem to be the same for each player. That is my story!! Going back today to see what else I can find.

The dark vision is a triggered mob....it is triggerd by the flooer somehow...not sure....lvl 56 shammie took it down with me a 43 pally healing her...mean as hell and has HT'd me for 645 before. didn't drop anything..This mob also has the ability to turn you into any mob it wants to....durning the fight with the shammie I was an erudite female, a vampire and a light crawler. The shammie got turned into an owlbear and a vampire bat. Fighting this mob is very fun and lots of laughs can be had!

The Dark sending seems to be able to take any from, but it is not consistant. I was working with two accounts in that dungeon, and my cleric say the dark sending as one model type, and my necro saw the EXACT same mob as another model type. Wierd.
Dark Sendlings

Actually Dark Sendlings have the possibility to look like any form. (ie- I was exploring the zone by myself and encountered one that was a flower - zoned out and came back - it was a stone man - zoned out and came back - it was a barbarian female.

the loot sucked for all the work that it took to kill it.

These things look like a spectre. Bombed me repeatedly for 374 or thereabouts. Had friends too.

Wouldn't suggest going in there without friends and a HEALER.

Group of 50+ sounds good to me.
