i killed this guy the other day, i dunno about poofing but i darknessed him and he died fine, didn't drop anything besides a couple coins.
shoot him with an arrow, he go poof.
hit him once then stop attacking (melee), he go poof.
nuke him (don't over kill) once, he go poof.
AKA..if you attack him in anyway and stop he KILLS him self. so if you keep attacking him he WON'T go poof.

As it says above this guy is a cleric and likes to Gheal himself when Loh. Other than that, wimpy.
Didnt see any portal in the 5 times or so i killed him, he never poofed. Maybe fixed.

he's not opening any portal to some new plane, he's just buggy...personally I like him buggy like this....attack anything near him and when he moves to assist he goes poof..../cheer no cleric mob to ruin my fun...he's easy enough to kill if you WANT to...just charge him from behind...sorta from the direction of the crazy pete and his mushroom henchmen... and on I didn't root or stun....I even chased him up onto the big rock on his right...sucka healed himself a lot....barely hit back at all....and my nice 72MR stoped his smite nukes both times he casted....a pansy man really....no items...don't remember if he had any coin or not...

I killed him fin as a lvl 31 pally. just by keeping him rooted that is How I start the fight with him!

I have killed him a few times with my 43 level Warrior. I target him from afar then run behind him (closer to wall) turn and fight him. As has been said, the wall behind him is buggy; if he steps toward it he despawns.

Its not hard to kill him, i am a 58 warrior, i charge him and beat the stuffing outa him, and he dies, i have only seen him drop 1 thing, and only 1 time, it was a fungas coverd helm, was like 8ac 5sv des 2str or something, and had the icon os a turtle shell helm. sold to a merchant for 3pp

That helm is the uncommon drop off of Crazy Pete. When I hunted there, I would give Darian loot from other mobs in the mutant area. It was better than letting the items rot.
I was only able to kill Darian a few times. You have to keep him from moving (aka root his ***). Even rooted, if you hit him too hard, he'll back up into the "hole" in the ground.
It seems kinda odd that a "preacher" would "fall" into some void. Sorta like Verant implying that preachers drop to hell. Maybe Darian was molesting that halfling that hides behind the rock?
He does in fact fall. When you agro him, his toon goes into the falling animation just before he goes poof.
Also, if you are chasing down other mutants and they run near Darian's spawn point, they too will go poof. I wish I could find the spot and go poof myself.

It is not that he despawns, but there is a buggy wall behind him. He will run into the wall, and fall under the world, thus despawns. Same with other mobs that run into the same wall. Happened twice with the priestest as well, she ran right into this wall and poofed as well.
Best bet. Either kill him in one shoot, or root him. Never dropped anything for me either.

i had the same problem, he despawned the first time... then i told pet to attack him... and my pet poofed instead! so i rained the ******* with lvl 55 rain... he dropped after second wave... no loot

It is not an easy task because he despawns veryquickly when you get near him or attack. But I rushed him and hit him with a Harm Touch then bashed him and he stayed spawned. He stayed put long enough for me to get him to 1 bub of health then Cyrithia spawned and healed him up. Soon there after I died. But he can be killed you just need to inturrupt his initial casting and engage him after that

While wondering around exploring I came into this cave and being a DE necro wasnt too well liked, So Imagine my surprise when after killing everyone else around and leaving this guy to last guessing he would have better loot, Every time I tried to attack him with either pet, DoT or DD he just dissapears :(
Maybe he part of a quest? by then faction too bad to try the talking approch :)

You can kill him, but you have to root him first. Me being a War, I walked up to him a Slammed him first, which prevented him from moving at first but as soon as he could move he poofed. Just Root him first or hit him with a big DD (assuming there is one that would work).

But i've tried rooting,dding,doting,snaring,pet,fearing,i even lead off with a missed dagger peirce to try to gethim to stay but he's always poofed on me.
