Ahahd Tolm says, 'So mate, are you just in from a patrol?'
Taruun Jaur says, 'Aye, the Sergeant's had us in the moor all week. It's been a long week too. The critters out there are behaving all peculiar.'
Erat Almar says, 'Eh, what do you mean by peculiar?'
Taruun Jaur says, 'Well, I'll tell you a quick story if you fill my mug again. Sound like a deal? Otherwise, I'll just head over to Rawlf's place and let him hear it.'
Ahahd Tolm says, 'Sure thing, mate. You know I'm a sucker for good gossip.'
Taruun Jaur says, 'Okay... here it goes... We were all sneaking along on patrol one night. We had just broke camp and were moving along the ledge near the big Hollowshade wolf cave. When we got near the cave, we notice a large pack of those nasty buggers... like eight or nine massive wolves... and they were coming right at us!'
Ahahd Tolm says, 'Oh my! Did ya kill 'em!'
Erat Almar says, 'Whoa! What did you do?'
Taruun Jaur says, 'No no... this is where it gets weird. The creatures just walked right through our patrol. They acted like they didn't even see us. We were all tensed up and ready for a fight and those beasts just ignored us. We stood still for a few moments and let them pass. Then it got a bit weirder.'
Ahahd Tolm says, 'Bah! It couldn't get weirder. That's weird enough! Take a moment to finish your drink and then tell me what happened.'
Taruun Jaur says, 'Well, it does... We didn't just stand there. After the beasts walk by us, we followed them for a while. The critters let us walk right along with them. It was the first time I'd ever heard of anyone doing that. We followed them until they moved into the palms just outside of the owlbear den. We took cover, while the wolves moved up to attack the den. That's when we took off. Things got ugly really fast.'
Ahahd Tolm says, 'Well... is that it?'
Taruun Jaur says, 'Well, once the fighting broke out, we moved to safety... so... Yep, that's the story. Thanks for the ale, mate.'
Ahahd Tolm says, 'Welcome... Welcome... have a seat and let me know if you need anything.'
