- Corrected issues with the quest from the Iksar hermit.
when the servers are back up, i will go see him and see what he says differently. Everyone else who has the sorceror's skullcap should check also. maybe we can figure out the end of this quest finally.
ok i went to check this out today. I tried a long time ago and it gave me an item (a flaxen hilt). it shows a cone of the mystics type graphic and does not open. well i tried it when the servers came up and the hermit gave me a new flaxen hilt that is considered as a container(four slots with a combine button) and looks like a spool or something. thats all i got so far will update as soon as i know more.

Just FYI, it has been said that every npc and every item is there for something. It has also been said that only about 50% of the quests in the game have been found. So, this guy DOES do something.

Hail him, at level 20, and he will say he is looking for a great sorcerer. If you say "I am a great sorcerer" he will hand you a jeweled hilt (i presume for a dagger or something) and then tell you to complete it by putting back its four pieces (or something like that) . What the heck is this guy talking about?
Its got a tiny blue top to it, and is gold handled....shrug
i have no idea what your faction was like pre 51 with the brood, but i am thinking it might eb more of a faction thing then a lvl thing. but thats just a guess, without going through and trying with maxed good or at least highly allied faction witht them at various lvls, its hard to say for sure. best of luck in figuring it out though, just recently started a new iksar necro and am awaiting the time i can start this quest and wrack my brain on its conclusion. 8)
The Iksar hermit is the quest holder for the 8th iksar necromancer skull cap i believe. The first question he asks you, are you a sorcerer? and the sorcerer skullcap is the 7th skullcap. As far as i know the 8th skullcap has never been completed?
Ok, i know that the existance of lv 61+ monsters has been pretty well established on this board, but i just wanted to mention...
if u don't know that there r monster higher than lv 60 then u must be a newby cuz even trakanon is lv 65.... and ppl take him on all the time.... these mobs r ment to be taken on w/a group, that's so when u r lv 60 u r not an unstoppable godly force... lv 60 guys need to have a challenge too...
there r tons of guys that are above lv sixty..... why dont u take a look at the temple of veeshan in velious.... the mob list for that zone is pretty large.... and there isn't a monster on that list that is BELOW lv 61!!!!!

I've never seen a softy in cabilis and i never want to see one either..... U DAMN SOFTIES NEED TO STAY OUT OF ARE FAIR CITY!!!!! I'M GLAD THERE ARE NPC'S LIKE THE HERMIT AROUND TO TEACH U SCALELESS SOB'S THAT U DONT BELONG IN CABILIS!! US IKSAR CANT GO INTO ANY OF YOUR CITIES (it's hella hard to do it anyway)... CAB IS THE ONLY PLACE WHERE WE ARE SAFE FROM YOUR KIND!!!! AS IT IS, YOU'VE INVADED OUR CONTINENT TO THE POINT WHERE THERE R MORE OF U ON IT THEN THERE R IKSAR!!! IF I EVER SEE ONE OF U SOFT-SKINS IN CABILIS, WHY I'LL... TACKLE U, KNOCK U INTO THE CAB WATER-WAY, JUMP IN AFTER U AND HOLD U UNDER AS U SLOWLY DROWN, LAUGHING MANIACLY AS I WATCH YOUR FUTILE STRUGGLE!!!!!

I've bumped into this guy many a time with my iksar necro.... but didn't realize he was lv 61 (OUCH!)... well at lv 7 basically every npc cons red to me so how would i know....
for that bambammer guy- how come he attacked u? Did u accidentally hit 'a' while u were facing him or what (i do this all the time, its very tragic).... or does this guy kos everyone but necros... just wondering, since ive only talked to him with my necro i dont know...
I am an iksar necro, he cons amiably to me (way red of course). If I right click on him, I get the training menu that you get from the trainers at the guild. So he is definitely a necro. I have used him to trained when I leveled in Lake of Ill Omen (since he is closer than my necro guild). When I hail him he says something about a great sorcerer. I say, "I am a great sorcer" and he says something to the effect that I am not. Does anyone know what this is about? I would love to know.
hehe, you got to learn the paiful lesson that necroes and all the iksar classes have thier own seperate factions. sarnaks, gobbies and bone chips will only help with the gaurds and a few of the other factions. best of luck in getting the necros to accept you into cab. 8)
It is very possible that he is 60+. There are a lot of very high lvl creatures that are higher than lvl 60. It would take probably two well rounded 55+ groups to take the hermit down. I would not go to kill him without 3 well rounded groups of 55+. I am disapointed that the robe is only ac 7 with no other stats but it is the best looking robe in the game as far as I am conserned. You dont see anyone wearing this robe and at higher lvls the int that you would lose to wear this robe has already been compensated by other high lvl int items. When I am higher lvl I will deffinately organize a raid to take the hermit down and would love to see an Iksar necro wearing this wonderful display of creativity in programing art from Verant. I have for the most part been disapointed so far with most of what they consider to be creativity. Especially when most weapons look the same no matter what lvl of weapon they are. They are getting better and with Kunark and Velious things are looking to better. When I see the hermit dead I will post more about him. Good luck to any of you who attempt to take em down.
Who cares if he's 59, 60, 61... whatever. HE WILL KILL YOU! You will know that you can beat him when you look to your left and your right and see at least 5 of your friends all over level 50 standing next to you who have just helped you kill the 4 guards to the city who would aggro on you if you try to attack the Hermit. If you look left and right and don't see these things, keep your sword in it's sheath and your nose buried in your spellbook and walk on past.
I can sympathize with you Lindassiel. I finally was able to get faction up enough to get into Cabilis and got a little too close to the hermit. He hit me twice in the 390's and aggroed all the troopers nearby. Needless to say I died. Very nasty.
This guy has necromancer faction -- as such, your Trooper faction is meaningless to him, so you want to get past him, take another route in or hug the wall AWAY from him as much as possible.
This guy is on the Brood of Kotiz faction. Only way to raise this if you're not an iksar is to kill lots and lots of outcast iksar (iksar bandits, etc.) The iksar newbie quests, such as giving Trooper Mozo bone chips, does not raise this faction.
Another iksar necro for you softskins to be aware of is Grype, who hangs out in the Tink and Babble in East Cabilis at night. If you have bad necro guild faction, you'll be dead pretty quick when you walk by the bar at night.
This guy is on necro faction, but its backwards. He wont give you the hilt unless you con indifferent to him or less. If your anything above indifferrent he wont give you anything but that many more deeds line. Once he gives you the hilt it raises faction with the necro guild and you can't talk to him again. Its strange but its the way he is designed right now.
Actually your wrong. Just tonight i got the hilt from the hermit and i'm amiable to him. Cause im a necro. The bad news is that we get a faction hit, WITH MY GUILD! Fortunetly im still amiable to them.
I find it wierd that hes on Necromancer faction and you take a faction hit for talking to him.
P.S. If anyone has Info. on the quest he gives out it would be much appreciated
Jezikez, lvl 9 Necromancer of Cazic-Thule Tholuxe Pealls
if you go down and read some of the fine books available from the forbidden scribe, you will discover an interesting story line that might have something to do with your faction hit issue. there is a story that i remeber the jist of but not the names or exact wording to, it goes a bit like this;
in the days of the first iksar empire in cabilis there was a member of the necro guild who was a master smith and he also happened to have a thing for the magical realms of wizardry, which was a blasphemous thing to the iksar necros and the people of cabilis. this necro also had a sarnak slave servant, by the name of kly, (which ties in some thing about why the kly are the main fighting force in charge of dalnir, but any way.) this necro was summoned to aid in the making of an enchanted dagger designed for torturing the victims of kurn himself, so that necro made his servant kly drag out the always working forge (which now rests in dalnir) out to kurn's tower and started work on making the dagger. while he was away other members of the necro guild stumbled across some of his notes and found out about his traitorous blasphemy. they sent word to the head masters of the necro guild at once who in turn sent word to kurn to have him dismembered and dusted (not totally sure what dusting is in iksar culture, but it sure cant be too good for the ol' bones, hehe). kurn decided that he would allow the necro to finish his work, and as soon as he was done, kurn had him shackled and used the very dagger he just comleted to punture his chest and disembowel him, after doing so he decided the dagger wasnt complete and had it sent back to cab to be finished properly. to keep this whole thing on the down low, they had the forge, kly, and most of the necros remains and belongings sent off to dalnir to be kept under wraps and never be heard of again, but the cursed dagger, as i had said, was sent back to cabilis, where it has supposedly remained to this very day and never finished for fear of its curse.
now if its still in cab, and was bestowed upon a necro for safe keeping, he would probably be some sort of outcast, or maybe even a HERMIT, see where i am getting at? this hermit might be the chosen one to keep hold of this dreaded dagger with a curse that all necro wish to avoid, makes sense to me anyhow, that once you come into possesion of such a hated item, that you too would loose a bit of standing with those that have the most reason to despise its very existance. maybe we are all on the wrong track. maybe this is a cross over point where we go from caps to another ethnic epic wpn quest. i have no solid proof as of yet, but i think there might be more than enough cause to keep that up as a valid presumption.
a few more notes that are worth mentioning as potetial leads to other items that are needed to complete the hilt. there are two quests that i know of that have yet to be solved that seem to involve things that are tied into the necro story line, one is the quest in kurns that involves the hollow skull container that the skeletal cook drops. makes sense to me that some how in kurns there is still a piece of this unfinished dagger that was worked on there. now the other i think that might be worth investigating has to do with the loom in kaesora, now i know there are lots of rumors floating about the book mark and yellow whip that that both have flax in their id's, maybe we got to find the proper components to assemble in the 12 slot loom to make either another peice, or a turn in item that is used in a quest to get the peice needed.
as my young scaley necro scholar works his way up in rank and order with the brood of kotiz, i will be sure to keep you informed of any head way i might come across on those leads i would like to pursue. hope some of this helps in getting this mystery solved. laters all. 8)
Actually you are wrong. Its not dependent on faction. I have seen people who are aimable who cant get the hilt and some who are indifferent who can. I have tested it, and using 2 people who con the same, one got the hilt and the other didnt.
I am not sure what controls it, but its not faction. At least not entirely.
Its possible that this has changed since I tried last time.
I too am an Iksar Necromancer, and the last time I tried to ask him anything he wouldnt say anything other than the usually "you have more work to do". In my experience he only spoke when I conned indifferent to him. Perhaps now as your Guild faction lowers, your hermit faction raises. I will have to check again. Are you sure you conned aimable to the hermit, and not indifferent?
This site probibly had a level 60 player con the hermit, and he either conned yellow or red. He's 61+, unless someone gave false info back when they submited.
He drops a robe of the scholars. AC7 IKS NEC only... no other stats, but it looks like the ones in the necro guild (i.e. badass). That's why I wanna know what level he really is.
