Hard buggre
# Dec 22 2001 at 2:17 AM Rating: Default
I'm a level 35 shaman, and was talking with a level 34 druid when we decided to try and take this sucker on.

He resisted every snare, every malice, and almost every root, and the only thing he seemed to take without much complaining were DoTs. Took both me and the druid down to almost out of mana and almost out of life before the sucker bit the dust. Moral of the story: Buff up and be prepared to either melee hard or DoT.

He does seem hard to get spells to stick to. I ran at him as a level 36 bard and found out the hard way that my snare/slow song was resisted about 5 times out of six. As was my fear song. Finally, I just ran around him in circles, singing Fufil's Curtailing Chant (DoT & MR debuff) until he dropped. Called out the location of the skull in /ooc, but no one bothered to come by and loot it. *shrug*

Could not solo at 29
# Dec 13 2001 at 10:57 AM Rating: Decent
Maybe this goes without saying, but I gave it a shot with my 29 Druid with 185 wisdom, and I could not solo him at all. He conned red. Could not ensnare or root. When I got just into enough range to cast combust, he was too quick and always interrupted my spell. If I stayed too far away, he was out of range. In short, I could do nothing to him but bring him down to about 2/3 health before I had to zone. Rrrrrrrrrrr...
cant find his spawn

Casters in area of Aviaks
# Sep 25 2001 at 4:58 PM Rating: Default
I was hunting aviaks this morning and clearing the yard trash. When I went to loot a rook, my screen went blank. At first I thought my PC screwed up, so I LDed and relogged. When I finally got back on, I went back to my character and took him into Norrath but when I came into the world, my screen went black again. Still thinking my PC was screwed, I repeated the process and decided to give it up for a while since it was patch day and I only had about 35 minutes left before I had to log. When I sat and thought about it, the only thing I could come up with was that I got hit with FoL. My question is this...does the undead cyclops cast? He was the only thing remotely nearby that I could remember. If not, I really don't know what to make of it. Any input would be appreciated.

Last I knew, he was just a straight up melee mob. But, some gnoll shammy mobs roam that area, they may have just popped a flash of light on ya or something, otherwise, all I can think is that something went wrong with your computer or ISP. Also, to note, I am pretty computer illiterate, good luck taking care of the problem, friend. =/

I think he may be a miscon to an extent, I've had two lvl 33 Paladins, one human the other a dwarf and he's been to tough to solo alone both times and I've had to zone...it's probably different for druid or bards who have the ability to kite reasonably well and a variety of direct damage spells/songs at their choosing to solo this thing...it has to many hitpoints I feel to be soloed by a melee type until higher lvls...more likely lvls 38-42, unless the melee person is a pure warrior with a good weapon or weapons at his or her side.

High magic resist

I'm a lvl 33 druid and this guy just conned blue to me. He resisted ensnare 8 times in a row. Luckily, something else ran by to draw his attention so I could camp out real quick to clear aggro.
easy

could jus be me but me being a 29 bard and a 21 monk killed this thing last night. seemed to have very low hp and hit for 1-64.

Most likely it was already injured when you came across it. It will fight other things in the zone, the splitpaw gnolls for instance. My monk used to pull it to the paw area if I was on when the zone was pretty empty and feign and let gnolls soften it up, then I'd finish it off after the gnolls were dead.

Well, I finally made it to lvl 30 with my pally and was pumped to get my new spells. I saw him roaming around and knew i needed that fine noggin for my Helm of Ro. When i was done i was crawling to the zone... Used my LoH, i was oom and had 34 hp. The ghoulbane proc'd twice for 127 each and the expulse dead didnt do too much. He was yellow to me at 30, fortunately not red. I have lame gear, but barely managed to beat him. Hope this helps! --- Xehn Roughbeard

almost killed me at 45, heh...
# Apr 06 2001 at 2:26 AM Rating: Default
this is no joke. i was goofing around one night in SK and this guy popped pretty close to me. so i decided, well i have have some serious undead ammo to hit this guy with. why not?

so i start off, the same way i always do solo. i lead with a nuke to get a feel for the damage i can do, MR and all that. heh, this guy proceeded to resist everything i hit him with. no idea why. just a tuffy i guess.

anyway, i start running at 2 bubs of health. thank Tunare for SOW. after i pull away far enough i start with the banish undeads again, then run again.

well, i finally killed him with under a bub of health, and OOM.

i loved it. i was bound in DL at the time so my hands were getting pretty sweaty amd my heart was pounding pretty fast. usually one root will stick, but none did. not one in the whole fight. he was one magic resistant POS that night. i never conned him, figuring he would just be green. but i got EXP for the kill.

just something to consider, if you ever fight him, i think the level 35 version, i am guessing that is what he was, might just be a lot tuffer than the other versions. man he laid the beat down on me hard and fast.

i was fully buffed, with around 1600hp and 740ish AC. level 45. the undead cyclops shouldn't have been that tuff. but he was.

Hmm, my lvl 44 cleric takes this guy down with ease. Pull him with turning of the unnatural, and then hit him with the undead nuke for 535hp each. he doesn't seem to resist it. I didn't bother rooting him, just faced up to him and tanked and casted. I have done this 4 or 5 times, and never ended below 1/2 life. usually end at 3-4bubbles, and 40-60 mana left. Buffed I have 1694 hp, 736 ac, and 191 wis. So I don't know what you were doing wrong, but he's not hard. Got exp each time, and he was dark blue con. Dropped the skull, and nothing of worth otherwise.

Just a way to ease the boredom between placeholders for Lord Grimrot.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 20 2001 at 4:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) He almost killed you because you are a pansy. Ensnare and three spells later, this guy is toast. I am a level 44 druid, and he has NEVER resisted any of my spells.
I solo'd it at 35
# Mar 18 2001 at 1:58 PM Rating: Default
I'm a 35 war and managed to take this brute down by myself, leaving me with 25% of my hp's back. It conned blue as well. From the other posts it would be tougher to spellcasters due to high magic resistance.
Susceptible to taunts?
# Feb 14 2001 at 9:10 AM Rating: Default
I killed my first undead 'clops last night. By all rights, he should have killed me, but he didn't.

He kept breaking my pet's root and coming for me after I popped him with a second Blaze. He would pound on me; I'd back up; he would turn on the pet; and I would pop him again. Even when my health dropped below 10%, I backed up and he turned to the pet. It's very unusual for a mob to leave you alone once they smell blood, but he did. I wonder if they are unusually susceptible to a taunt? My pet, of course, taunts constantly, and somehow I survived when one more hit from the big bones would have killed me.
RE: Susceptible to taunts?
# Feb 14 2001 at 9:14 AM Rating: Default
Oh, yes. And he was blue to my level 34 magician, so I have no quarrel with the levels shown. We need to remember that almost every mob in the game spawns not at a fixed level but within a level range. If you see something that is below a certain level, it doesn't mean it is always below that level.
2 Eye Sockets???

RE: 2 Eye Sockets???
# May 14 2001 at 9:54 PM Rating: Default
Well i think someone before all of you said he had two sockets instead of only one (IMHO i say the developers were just lazy and just enlarged the Skele and called it an undead big thing, so they got the MAGICAL VERANT HAT OF NAMING monsters and pulled out cyclops)
sow on
# Nov 29 2000 at 11:05 AM Rating: Decent
if you have sow on and one of these kills you you are an idiot, they are so easy to run away from its not funny...in fact kiting them as a druid can be a pain becuz they stop chasing you so easily
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 03 2000 at 1:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) IF HE IS TRUELY AN UNDEAD CYCLOPS, THEN WHY DOES HE HAVE 2 EYE SOCKETS, BEING A CYCLOPS AND ALL HE WOULD REALLY ONLY HAVE 1, CORRECT?

He is lower than 35 but...
# Nov 03 2000 at 11:17 AM Rating: Default
This thing resists magic like a madman, even hill/sand giants are easier to fear than this mob. I think the first time I killed him I was somewhere around level 40, he may have been green with experience then. After getting in his face, tanking and seeing how hard he hits I fired up chains and fear only to have both drop almost as soon as they came up. No problem, fire up selo's and take him for a run planting DoTs...nothing shakes up all those paw campers like some blue flash and a giant skeleton to come crashing through their spawn (don't worry, mobs HATE bard dots and they rarerly aggro anyone else unless they do some serious damage or taunting)
wrong level

blue/black to a level 32. definately not 35. but seems to have VERY high magic resist and a ton of hps

Dude was red to me at 30th last night, so must have been at least 33rd. Level must vary a lot.
a pain for 39
# Sep 08 2000 at 6:56 AM Rating: Decent
Ran across this guy last night while going to Aviak City. I am a level 39 Cleric, he conned blue, so I figured I would slay him and save the lower lvls some heart problems. HE RESISTED EVERYTHING!
I started with root, panic the dead, expel undead, all were resisted. I could not believe it.
Needless to say, he was mad then so thank God i had SOW. I ran out and tried to cast again with no luck, only resists.

If he is 35 or lower, he has an ungodly magic resist. Be careful with him.
Lower Than 35
# Aug 29 2000 at 1:05 PM Rating: Default
I've fought this guy several times at lvl 34 (barbarian warrior) and it was always blue. The first time my shaman friend went LD in the beginning of the fight and it was a pretty close call. Got the cyclops skull every time. As matter of fact, i'm still carrying around one of the skulls for a few pp's... :)
