At level 32, I have had 2 battles with The Great Oowomp. When we first met, I slayed him and had over a bubble of mana left. The second time I encountered him, I had to use Spirit of Cheetah just to lose him after running out of mana with which to damage him. He dropped nothing when I first slayed him.
The problem is that I'm a Shaman at level 32, hence our class is equal but at level 34 (and he was level 34 exactly both times) he has 1 more spell circle than I do -- this gives him a better direct damage spell, DoT, et cetera. As a general rule, fighting the same class of a higher level that has met the level requirement for the spell circle above yours is a bad idea. At level 34, with my little doggie, I will beat him down repeatedly, into the late hours of the night and early hours of the morning.

Im a 35 druid and this guy was hard for me,kited him and he was almost dead 1 more nuke but then his dots killed me

For those iksar monks who need your Shackle of Rock, and need Oowomp to summon the Dancing Skeleton, without Oowomp killing you:
Oowomp is not agressive to evil races (apparently including Paineel Erudites, as he didn't agro on an Erudite Necromancer). However, the skeleton he summons is agressive to all non-Iksar. If oyu can convince a necromancer or shadowknight to help you (since they have FD), have them give Oowomp the 5 gold, run a ways away from Oowomp when the skeleton's summoned until he's out of Oowomp's agro range, and FD, you can walk up to the skeleton easily avoiding Oowomp, ask him who Talon Southpaw is, and talk him out of his fist. A lot easier than the sneak/FD method people sometimes try. Make sure to warn people doing this for you that the dancing skeleton is powerful (higher level than Oowomp, I think!) and very agressive, and to have their FD ready. Takes very good timing to use FD as a spell while being attacked.

I camped oowomp the other night for about 6 hours. I got 2 earrings, a mask, and a few bracelets. Use cancel magic if ya got it, he won't resist all that much. And there is no faction hits with OT.

Anyone ever try and strip him of all those nifty shammy buffs? That's probably why he resists so much, runs so fast, hits so fast, hits so hard. Just bring a chanter with ya when you go to kill him. Try pull with mez, and strip all of his buffs first, that should weaken him considerably.

He ask you to find some components :

from the sounds of it those are the ingredients to the lvl 39 shaman Cannabalize II spell. It is a quest only spell last time I checked.

He is one resistful ****, at level 40 he resisted dooming darkness about 50% of the time, invoke fear (using click effect on staff of the dreaded gaze) 40% of the time and venom of the snake about 20% of the time. now take into account that hes 6 levels below me his resists are HUGE. no one under level 38 will be able to beat him every time.
i helped my 35 druid friend kill him, about half of the time oowomp would have killed him without me stepping in, so he a tough one alright.

Uh huh, yeah...I'm a 35 mage, and he has resisted maybe 3 or 4 nukes. so about 5% of the time.

I have killed this guy lots of times on and off since lv 40 without to many problems and have gotten most of the stuff he drops, however, to day he droped an "eye of Serilies" which I've never seen before. Could just be junk but anyone else seen it?

Posted: Jun 27 2001 at 10:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok now apparently i just read a post from another full of himself caster. i am a lv 36 sk and i had no problem soloin him at all. in fact i succesfully killed him 16 times. keep somethin in mind casters, when you are in a group, it is the tanks that take the beatings. we have the hp. we do a big portion of the dmg. and you would be dead if not for us meatshields taunting mobs offa you. i often hear casters spouting off how great they are, but even more often i hear the casters screamin for us to taunt when they get aggrod. it seems to me that casters can pretty much do nothing when they are being interupted. so remember, be nice to the tanks we know how to play our chars, and we can mess you up bad if you pi** us off )

At 35 I can solo him 4-5 times with my mage, I just have to let him get really mad at pet b4 I let loose with the 322 point nuke. I pull him with Nullify Magic to get rid of those buffs he casts on himself, and then he rarely resists my spells. The exp is good enough to make 4-5 not bad odds at 35, but I garauntee that when you die you will lose the camp, Every time. He is very in demand.
For the Fighter who posted weakling, I have had the bad experience to play with the casters you are talking about. this is what they do.
1. they dont assist you, If they did chances are you would be taunting the mob off them as soon as it aggroes them
2. they run when aggroed, making it extremely difficult to save thier stupid asses, If they just stood thier ground they would take less damage and the fighters in the group could pull the mob off
3. They Nuke too soon instead of giving mob a chance to get good and pissed at you
4. They have the audacity to say things like My nukes do more damage then any fighter, I personally have a buddy SK that doubles for 60 points and has a pretty fast attack for 2hd slashing. I know he does a lot of damage when he is fighting.
This is from a caster, who gets fed up with other casters talkin ****, Group = Team, Everyone has a parrt to play. If someone doesnt do their part well the Team suffers. Fighters and casters alike should keep that in mind

Tank, they never get one spell off on him, and the pet always goes down FAST! When he fights other tanks he just switches his gear to get all his AC up. I guess what Im saying here is that any class can kill any class, if they are well equiped and know what they are doing. I dont know if the same goes for Pallies though =P

For a short time after Kunark opened you could bind in TD. There are people who are still bound at the Firepots and will never change. Lucky or smart enough to realize it was going to get nerfed because it made any class that could bind a class that could port self.

The oowomp is a ***** cat im a 34 mage on xegony server and i soloed him with no problems, just make sure if you are a mage to fight with an air pet to stun him because that poison dot is pretty nasty but with your self regen spell (phantom chain) you can outlive the poison pretty easilly. Now that im lvl 39 i can camp him w/o getting hit its a jolly good time!!!

At level 49 I just rooted him and starfire him for 600+ each.. he died got 3 chiped bone in 8 hrs.. and lots of alcoholic beverage.. my alcohol tolerance now up at least 10 points.

first thing is he doesnt give or take faction from anyone and that he pretty easy to solo because the low lvl guys will only heal him with low healing spells and wont help hurt you. Suprisinglv the sheer bone mask is rarer then the batskull earrings on him while fighting him we got 5 pairs of bone leg plats 3 batskull earrings 1 bone braclet and nothing else but money. It ws worth it for the earring that i didnt have but he is fun and a pretty easy kill for a group or 2 or 3. He does have a mean posien spell because our warrior was almost wasted by it but our necro saved her.

I read all these posts on oowomp but this is a nice island as a whole. If your in a guild and you have many lvls of difference its a good island to work together on. Only drawback is evil city in ot . You can take those lvl 17 char work them up in lvls while a group of lvl 40 's hunt oowomp and those birdies . INstead of just seeing guild chat you can awe your low lvls in your guild . Just a little more spamm i guess one ye willy the STARGAZERS
