  • Placeholder is: an aqua goblin shaman
  • This mob spawns at 2507, 921, -194 deep underwater by the base of the aviak ramp that also has the flame of innoruuk; on the island east of the Arena ZL.
  • Respawn Timer: 4m 30s

PH's are: an aqua goblin shaman AND an aqua goblin

Method 1: Sit and wait approach

Park yourself next to Rykas at 947, -610 on the land, and kill the PH that comes through there. Wait time is about 20-25min. (on a fast run, its 17ish min) Webclaw attacks Rykas! (Not the PH's though). Kill Rykas. No faction hit and problem solved.

Method 2: Faster sit and wait approach. Park yourself next to Rykas at 947, -610 on the land, and kill the PH that comes through there. Once PH is killed, move to 2507, 921, -190 (under water, right below the Aviak tower island). Respawn is 4 min 30 sec. Best Farming method.

Notes on Method 2: If you can find the PH on anywhere along the path, you dont have to wait long, but waiting at Rykas will be the guaranteed method. There are multiple mobs sharing parts of the same pathing.

#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 18 2001 at 1:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Was bored with a guildmate today killing aviaks guards and jumping off the ledge cause some big dumb ogre said there was a shiny thing in the water at the bottom. Yeah there was some ugly dragon head or something for a warrior quest i just found out. Saw this guy he was blue to me. Pet in nuke nuke resist his spells and he dies. Gave the staff to some wide eyed noobie who wanted this piece of crap. Good for nothing if you ask me

Hey Alek,
I've killed him 3 times so far. Twice tonight alone in Lake Rathetear. He spawnds on the Aviak Island with the big ramp going up in to the air with the fountain/tourch on it. His exact spawn location is at the base of that ramp. He or a "place holder" (which is usally a aqua goblin shaman or something) will spawn every 7 minutes after being killed. The problem is that as soon as he spawns he runs over the mountain into the water. He heads towards the arena and wil actually come on sure on the same pacth of land the arens is at. On the south side...He'll make a circuit and do this for awhile if you miss him, he will come back. Just ait there..After waiting and he still doesnt show, I have sometimes found him by the hermit in the back corner of zone.

His magic is nasty so be careful. I was hit for 170 4 times tonight. Hes easy after he runs OOM. To help cast/ or get someone at arena to cast resist cold or endure cold. Helps a lot.

I'm on the Xegony server. I'll be gald to help you if you are on my server or if anyone else needs help with this guy. Shoot me a tell.
Where is he?

Back when I was a 19 Rogue (not too long ago) I fought this guy while partnered with a 21 Monk. The Monk was able to Feign Death, but he killed me. Hit me for a 175 dmg with one of his spells. About 15 minutes later we found him again, but this time we took him down. I suppose we got lucky because I only saw him cast once, and that was on the monk. He dropped the Water Crystal Staff, Hunting Bow, 4 Arrows, and a Gold Medallion.

I took my 31 Cleric over today for the purpose of getting the staff. Only 4 people in zone, imagine that. Didn't really want it, but I bought one for my chanter a long time ago and just wanted to loot one. I buffed up to 847hps and my +10sv vs magic and swam to the island. I arrive, 2 birds at top of ramp, no one at bottom. After about 2 minutes an aqua goblin pops at the bottom of the ramp and meets a quick death. Then about 4 or so minutes later he pops at the bottom of the ramp. He cons blue to me at 31. He resists my first stun, root sticks, second stun sticks and its a nuke fest. He nuked me for about 600, I resisted one of them. I nuked him for over 1000, that's what it took to kill him. He blew his mana after nuking me for 600 then started to run after my root wore off. Got my staff and gated, pretty gravy for me. Best of luck. No idea how much the staff sells for, I paid 75pp for it about 6 months ago. I assume it will be given away. The point was to loot something I once paid all my money for as a noobie.
Multiple levels?

Seems that there may be different leveled versions of him now. I know he was green to me when I was 29, maybe 30. Lately he has been blue to my level 32 ranger. I killed him yesterday, but today he got me (he was SO close to 0 HP. Unfortuneately, I was closer :)

Just a note. a lvl 25 mob will still give you exp at 31 and sometimes at lvl 35. My Iksar Necro stayed in Swamp of No hope and Killed mobs there and got exp at lvl 35 and highest of normal mobs in swamp is around 25.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 28 2001 at 7:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ...and not too hard when you're 6 levels higher than your target. Why do you bottom feeders even post about MOBs that are so far below your level that they con green and don't even give you exp? Why don't you fight stuff close to your level or (gasp!) higher than you? Then you might have something worth while to post.

Uhm, I hate to break it to Darryn, but when your up at level 30-35, 6 levels below you is still blue, and can still beat you in a solo fight. At least as a warrior I spend most of my soloing time fighting stuff that is about mid 20's and I am level 31.

I just camped him in lake rathe while waiting for a guild thing in the arena. i just want to say that he does spawn running toward the mountains, but if he hops over them jsut cast on him or hit with an arrow. the mountains are walkable and he'll jsut run back at ya. I couldn't succesfully interrupt his casting but it didnt hurt too bad (low 100's per cast) and he ran out of mana quick. after the first spawn was dropped he was next to pop again. its about a 3 minute spawn for him or his place-holder( regular aqua goblin). The staff isn't so great, only sells for about 100 on Sol RO. but was fun to pass the time.

We killed it with me (lvl 20 Warrior) and my friend (lvl 22 Druid). When he is out of mana, he really sucks. You can just watch him trying to hit you with his small staff... well, watch out, he casts for about 150 dmg.

Another thing fun is that he popped twice in 5 minutes. Te second time he took me down real fast. Grr !! i'll have him back.
Just a thought....

Has anyone here who has hunted Webclaw used the bashing technique to interrupt his casting to some degree? It would be nice to hear of posts which also include melee battles. Since I am a warrior who likes to hunt the gnolls in HighPass, I know how important it is to at least use bash when possible...though this doesn't always work since some of the casters seem to regain concentration rather quickly. I'm just wondering if Webclaw is like that...quick to cast regardless if interrupted or not. And for dual wielders who don't bash, just set up a hotkey for the switching bro's...it won't hurt and it's extremely effective.
Easy camp
# Apr 27 2001 at 6:20 PM Rating: Default
I camped for about 45 minutes, got a couple Aqua Goblins and Webclaw (its about a 7-8 minute spawn overall), the Auqa Gbolins dropped arrows and a Hunting Bow, and then Webclaw popped. To start, he looks exactly like an Aqua Goblin, not the reddish-purple that is shown above. I am a lvl 21 wizzy and resisted his Force Shock multiple times. He didn't hit me with anything, but did resist my magic-based spells. My lvl 16 Flame Shock wasted him, and (with the help of a higher lvl warrior that was helping me) we wasted him without either of us taking more than 100pts of damage max.

He didn't try to run during battle, but a warning, he and his PHs spawn running toawrds the mountains. The hardest part of this spawn was getting them before they jumped over the hill and swam away. You have about 3 to 4 seconds from the pop to the time that they are up to the top of the mountin, so be aware and watch the staircase for the pop, then blast immeidaitely. Another good way to get around this is by having your tank sit right in their path, that buys you some time to hit them as they aggro fairly violently, the Auqas and Webclaw. Other than that, if you are a caster of at least 20th lvl, you should resist fairly well, and not have too much trouble with Webclaw.
Highly variable difficulty...
# Dec 14 2000 at 6:58 AM Rating: Default
I fought him twice (solo) with my warrior at lvl 25. The first time, I beat him with 2 bubbles of hp left. It was a long, hard fight but I won. The second time however, he had me down to one bubble in the time it took me to get him to four, so I zoned.

So either I got lots of resists/interupts the first fight, or else he was higher level the second time around (Consed even the first time, didn't even have time to /cons the second time)
:)

Be very careful of this guy! He took me down to half hit points before I killed him and I'm a lvl 35 Ranger. I hit him for around 400hp before he died. He conned green to me at the time so I decided to see what he dropped and found myself in a heluva fight!

I am a lvl 26 Shadow Knight, first time I took him, he conned blue, and he killed me very quickly, I only got him donw to about 3/4 life.

Second time I got a 28 monk and a 30 bard and we killed him in no time flat without even a dent in any of us. One thing to remember though, is that he nukes HARD. If you wnat to kill him, you should prob. get a group and have them attack him instead of pulling, cause chances are you will be dead before you get back to your group.

Where he spawns, and where he goes, and STAYS or his ph

hes he spawns on that 3 spawn island, what I call "escalator island" since that is what that stair thing reminds me of. If you are waiting on the island, between the escalator and the cliff he will come. If you are high enough level to take him, the people killing the aviaks for xp will actually be glad that you are there. I was nice a couple times and after gettin his staff I hung around to help others kill him and get their staffs also ( it is lore)

He or a shaman spawns there. They then go immediately over the mountain, and virtually straight out for quite a ways. Where they eventuall go, is what is known by some as the MAD MONK spawn. That little cove all by itself with the hut and the beggar looking guy who is a monk.

If he or the shaman IS NOT spawning, it is because one or the other is back in that cove. If you go back there you will see the top of its head bob in the water sometimes, or see it on track. Kill him or the shaman (usually the shaman) and make your way back to escalator island to camp for webclaw.

# Aug 08 2000 at 5:06 PM Rating: Decent
Not to discourage anyone...cause he can be soloed by caster or melee. Just 90% of his spawns..he will resist 3-4 every spell you throw at him. Ive seen level 18-21 group of casters kill him. Ive seen level 35 wizard get killed by him. It varies. The reward is a staff that is one hand blunt with effect:shallow breath...level one enchanter d.o.t. It also procs at level one..nice weapon to give to your newbie friends.
LOL

He is on tough cookie. If you are caster 35 or below.....GET A TANK. Ive spent months in Lake rathe watching people hunt this guy. He spawns at the aviak tower..if noone kills him he swims to the cove where Jonah Brucker is and just kinda hangs out there in the water. I ALWAYS go to watch the fights. Webclaw resists 80% of spells thrown at him. So if pure caster...you can get into alot of trouble. The best way to avoid dying..is to simply get out of the water...preferably by the 2 aviak spawn...cause if you get out near Jonah hell start beating on you. A group of melee class atleast level 18 can waste him easier than 3 wizards . Sure the group of melee will lose a couple of dearly loved friends...but ..hehe.. webclaw doesnt resist a Sword or Axe upside his head. On the Water Crystal Staff....he ALWAYS drops the staff..and if you are a party member is holding one and near the cove...just jump in the water when he spawns...he will come to u..trust me. That is if noone kills him at his spawn point.
Webclaw

Like all spell casters, PC and NPC alike, this guy can be a relatively normal drop or a deadly mistake. I have encountered webclaw 4 times. The first two times, myself, 21 mage, a 22 ranger, and 19 enchanter had a go at him. He was not too tough at all. The third time, he got some really good spells off and nailed us all to near death... for some reason, he resisted my first 3 dds which is horried in a group like ours.

At 22, I went to help a lower friend of mine break an aviak spawn. I went from SK zone to the point where i could see the Barbarian village when webclaw blasted me. He likes to travel from the 3 spawn to the arena, but this time he went a bit further. I lost him in the village, i think one of the barbs attacked him and had to gate out. In the mid 20's a lot people have swimming skills that outspeed the boats, but being in a canoe is less likely to aggro something you don't want.

This guy was a relatively easy kill for his lvl. Myself (21 Enchanter) and 21 Wizzy made short work of him. Just used my usually worthless pet with Quicken. Poor guy only got off 2 spells and lasted about 20 seconds. Gave great exp too. /Conned tombstone Red.

# May 23 2000 at 12:42 PM Rating: Decent
Murkwave Webclaw spawns under the 3 spawn/flame tower in the water. He then proceeds to run up the mountain side to the West. He spawns randomly as far as I could tell but he did spawn about 8 times in 3 hours. His place holders are other aqua goblins (esp shamans). He cons red to me at lvl 21 so I guess lvl 25 is reasonable.
He seems to drop the Water Crystal Staff (nice caster item) everytime and various other things including bows, arrows and gems. I once looted a gold medallion off him as well.

Now the hard part - killing him. The trick to killing Murkwave is to withstand his initial magical onslaught. If you are a mage let your pet attack him. Once out of mana he is not too bad. I have however seen him drop a lvl 23 warrior in about 10 seconds with his spells - so beware.
