Ok, you want to know if hes a gm?
# Jul 16 2002 at 8:45 AM Rating: Default
This is my 2cents seeing on how nobody else thought of it. Now, a person playing EQ would have to play A LONG TIME! to get mob pathing right am I correct? yea I think so, so nuke his *** and run anyway (pray he dosent cast at you instead of running) if his happy *** runs straight at you instead of the retarded way that mobs run, you got yourself a GM, so, somebody go get him, I myself dont want to lose exp lol. try for yourself.

What I heard, Mayong is a part of a quest related to the Sleeper and cant be killed. Maybe he gives info about how to kill the sleeper if you ask him right questions.
It would make sense if he did do that, like gave a quest for some uber weapon that must be used in the fight with sleeper.
Maybe it takes only 1 person to slay sleeper, but the whole guild must help the "hero" to get the weapon. Whats what I think anyway. In all fairytales there is always a "hero" that challenges the dragon alone.

i to have thought about this the same way.. mayong create a sword that was used to entomb the sleeper.. maybe that sword is the item that can be used to destroy him as well.. or at least make it possible for him to be killed..
sure doesnt make it much easier since you have to find mayong when hes poped lmao what? twice a year? or something like that lol.. my palys bard faction is goin straight down the drain.. cause i wanna try this quest for that sword lol.. heheheh

Tower
# Jun 03 2002 at 2:42 AM Rating: Decent
In the old days the tower did not have a roof and the casters up in the tower would occasionally peak over the top and nuke the ^#$@ out of some poor unsuspecting dwarf cleric fighting familiars at the bottom of the ramp. Then Mayong stopped spawning and they put a roof on the tower and the sniper fire stopped.
I killed this bastard

I am an Ogre monk and use a peircing skill, and my weapon is a Vampiric stake, which is 25dmg 28dly magical but no other stats, but anywho here's what happened. I walked all thru the zone and there he was! Dark Elfula! Long dong Mayong! So I walk up to him and tell him "hey dude, who the hell do you think you are!" So he gets out of his coffin real fast and runs at me talking some bull jive. He said "I v'am Mayong Mvistmoore, and dis is v'my castle" So then I get real ogre on his *** and kick him in the gut, which is followed by some damn sharp fangs being bared, so I Feign Death and he goes back in his coffin. He shuts his eyes, I wake up, he comes back out and I stab him in his damn heart. I put the stake thru his heart and he is hurting real bad. He falls to his knees and gasp for blood. The I targeted him and type /laugh. It was very funny since he became dead and all. After that was done, I pulled his body to Butcherblock Mountains and his body burned real good. Then I went to Kaladim and took over the city and renamed it Underthemountain. So that made me Steven Segal, King Underthemountain, the greatest Ogre Monk ever born. Then I had a party and a GM told me that the bards music was to loud and we fought and I kicked his *** and logged on my alt, my High Elf warrior, and then I took over The Deepwater Goblin tower in Oasis, and called it a night. It was great!

yes, mayong is a gm, yes he only spawns 2wice a year. I have heard of another gm-controlled mob.
sometimes they change everfrost to everfrost-unseasonably warm anyway, u know the place by the 2wo guards and the wolf, you will find 1ne guy who says he is wounded beyond help, and gives you the diary of elleara, says that she is an evil wizard who he listened in on last night with her bodygaurds, got caught, hocked diary and just escaped alive. I think you can find elleara in cave bear tunnels during the gm event, but you'd better be prepared for a hard battle.

So this guy I know, said that heard from this one mercenary who heard from a mage who heard from this cleric...(the list goes on for about 15 minutes) that he knows of this kick-*** night club in Faydwer....well being the little party animal I am, I said hell yeah and I ported us off to Steamfont. When we got there, we got mobbed by about 20 leppers (that claimed to be gnomes, but they were just too pathetic and poor which is why they were bothering us to begin with) asking us for money, armor, food, SoW, or just about anything we could spare. I told if they didn't back away slowly and promtly run the other way, then I would tie them to a tree and Calefact their more tender parts of their bodies. They happily complied and practically left skid marks on the ground (and in their leggings). So we took off toward Lesser Faydark. By the time we got to the border of Lesser Fay, we decided to rest, it being only midday and most clubs dont even open till around the evenig anyway. We crossed the border in LF, and let me tell you, that place if just friggin miserable. First thing we see is this little brownie by the name of Pickle Undernuts, or something like that, yelling at us saying that if we didn't leave, he would continue to tuant us to the point of utter annoyance. Keeping to his word, he called all of our mothers nasty things I never knew existed, in positions I had never fathomed. Well being utterly annoyed, as he fortold earlier, my warrior friend that was with me promptly skewered Pickle on his Wurmslayer. Deciding that we needed to calm down a bit from the prior experience, we roasted the brownie over a fire and a few spices, a few foraged veggies with a fine Elven wine. Absolutely delish!! After we ate we headed for Mistmoore Castle. We almost got the when I notice a black shadow-like creature heading straight for us. As it got closer, I noticed it was a beautiful black horse! Well being the crazed druid I am, I walked up to meet it so i could pet it. I heard yelling from my group, but paying no attention I met the horse. She truly looked pissed! She reared around and kicked me about 10 feet in the air, about 50 feet back. Needless to say....I was pissed too. Before I got a chance to react, the wizard of my group decide he want to know what a horse looked like from the inside out. As the horse (I later found out that this was the corrupted steed, Equestrielle) charged for the wizard, he cast a truly wonderful spell....at point blank range. If you ever wondered what a horse looks looks like from the inside...use Ice Comet...it works well :) So after we finshed wiping blood and entrails and brains and what other unmentionables that happen to be inside a horse off ourselves, we finally got to Mistmoore Castle....this place was ROCKIN!! Little did I know that this was more a Gothic Club, I would have dressed a little different. As it were, because we didn't dress accordingly, it seemed to **** off the locals quite furiously. After beating down half the place, this guy shows up by the name of Mayong. Claimed he owned the place. He told us if we didn't leave imediately, there would be trouble. Well the Palidin of my group got the balls to call him a "Pale-assed Wimp" and told him to shove it bacause we were crashing this joint. Well Mayong didn't think too highly of that so he grabbed the knight by his finger, ripped it clean off his hand and shoved it in his ear. I was enthralled!! Everyone in the club was shouting for joy at this point since the bouncer/owner finally showed up. Mayhong grabbed the Wizard by his robes and gave him a tremendous wedgie!! Split him in half actually! He then turned to the warrior and said, "You're next!" Mayong wasted no time with the warrior. He just punched a hole straight through him, and on the other side of the warriors body, Mayhong was holding the man's still-beating heart in his hand! Well I decided that tis wasn't the kinda place for a girl like me. So I said "Mr. Mistmoore, sir. I promise I didn't come in with those people. I don't know these people, and I thank you for giving these jerks what they obviously deserved!" Then I kicked the dead Pally in the head just to look more convincing. "I will be on my way now. Sorry for the interruption!" I started to back out, when all the dark elves, and Mayhong himself, started laughing. I was confused and terrified and I was sure I was gonna die. Mayong said, "You're alright kid! Why don't you come and join us for some ale for a while?" Resolved that I wouldn't dare **** this guy off, I happily accepted. I hung out for about 3 or 4 hours, drinking merrily, eating heartlily, elating stories of past battles, and slyly removing Mayong's stray hand off my thigh more than once. After half the crew passed out, I decided it was time to leave. I bid everyone farewell and left. It really was a great place. I frequent the place often now. Mayong is a great guy, once you get past the whole bloddy fangs, kill kill kill, I am unbeatable, I ate your mom routine. He is just one of the guys now. If you want I can introduce you sometime. Send me a tell on Terris-Thule

aye, he is GM controled, once we killed him with one grp of lvl 55+ he was light blue to me, 56 sk
...we tried again, he owned us...so we got more grps, he was red to a lvl 60 and was a 7 min battle, so, he is very hard, but also can be very easy, beware :)

Whether he's a bard or not.

Whether Mayong is a bard or not, I'd have to say the guys got balls, and probably is a higher lvl then 53. And most likely, if he went head to head with the sleeper, he's probably undead, something along the lines of a necro. But, there's no class that is more well known for "staying alive" then the bard. Of course, this is entirely pointless, but it's also 9 in the morning and I haven't slept all night. ^_^ WOOT! Anywho, peace peep's.

Do you proc lifetap when in WW form from lute of the howler?

Anyway, there are "mistmoore battle drums", someone has to play those. He has ambassadors from the gypsies. There are two piano's in the house.

The guy's a vampire, but he's also a musician, sort of like Lestat :)

Anyway, I'm just waiting for them to finally allow Iksar to follow Innoruuk like Venril Sathir and be one of the Forsaken (outcast iksar/iksar bandits).

His name is cyan or whatever because he is targeted...

Also when a gm event is going on the gm is usually a mob but they do not have green names and cannot be found by using /who <name>.
They look like normal npcs..
Info on Mayong
# Apr 09 2002 at 9:12 PM Rating: Decent
I remember the days when Mayong was around, he used to spawn in the tower near the entrance and was guarded by about 5 level 45 casters if I remember correctly. If argoed he would wipe out the entire zone easily.

After he was removed for being too difficult an encounter, I heard he still DOES spawn, but only twice a year, he is/was run personally by Brad McQuaid, and he would spawn him on his two son's birthdays for a few hours.
RE: Info on Mayong
# May 09 2002 at 12:14 PM Rating: Default
Ummm question. Why would Verant nerf something for being too difficult? They have plenty of raid mobs more difficult than this guy. Do they just want to spare the rest of the zone? Why wouldn't they make the spawn time every two days or something rather than totally nerf him?

Lame. I wanna kill a vampire lord.

Realm Of Heroes
# Mar 16 2002 at 12:40 AM Rating: Default
This is a guess and posting here. I have devoted alot of my questing time going after a very large quest never before solved, throughout the starting cities you may notice NPCs that all talk about the Realm of heroes and babble on about a coin etc. One is in Cablis near Nec guild, another somewhere in rivervale, and one in the attic of an in in felwithe. All clues from these NPCs point to Mayong and some old folktale about him turning people into vampires and an orphan girl. Each person seems to have another similar "epic" possible GM quest attached to them, the reward being a coin, once all 5 coins are collected then you "can enter the Realm Of heroes" Seems to me this is an intruiging quest since as far as i kno its never been solved. Supposedly the 5 quest givers are the origional "Eq" team. And each like to babble on about his past before menitoning the Realm of Heroes, most saying they wish they could go back and why they left
RE: Realm Of Heroes
# Mar 25 2002 at 11:25 AM Rating: Decent
Its for GM events. They give you the coin and then in turn you hand it into the NPC for a reward. I saw the one in misty thicket and got curious myself. My search led to this answer. Im not positive of its accuracy, but more than one person/post back it up.
RE: Realm Of Heroes
# May 03 2002 at 2:53 PM Rating: Default
I received a coin of hero's after a GM event with Fironia Vie in Sky Fire mountains. The Coin was ent. I handed the coin into a NPC in the FV Zone and received a reward(Ognits Aqua Collar 8ac Effect: EB).

To my knowledge they are only given out by GM's, I don't see how it would be possible to collect 5.

Whatch the name of a person next time you target them... It Blinks/Flashes to let you know what you have targeted. Most likely, the photographer targeted him and snaped the shot when it flashed white.
RE: Name
# Mar 09 2002 at 6:55 AM Rating: Default
Not neccessarily; GMs when turning into an NPC (specifically an NPC that can be killed and looted, not just a shapeshifting) have the same name color as regular NPCs. Otherwise, everyone could tell when it's a GM in a quest or invasion.
Not a necro

He's a vampire, as in he prolly doesnt use regular necro spells - he prolly has Death touches, and huge AoE lifetaps and stuff of that sort.

The guy who talks about the old days is correct. The game was better back then. And yes Mayong was one sick puppy. As for being GM controlled that makes sense, as he dosent come when theold school triggers are used. Guess that only worked in beta. I miss Mayong wiping out entire zone. that was always fun to watch. :-)
