OOT on cyclops fury island in the corner got it after clearing everything for about 1.5 hours- was clearing everything with my 85 bard chanter 40 needs it parked in druid ring
Yesterday I camped S Ro for about 5 hours and couldn't get ancient cyclops to spawn. Today I thought I'd try OOT and got him to pop within half an hour. This was on Tunare/7th Hammer and I was killing on the south side of cyclops island. Only thing I killed were seafury cyclops, no other PH.
Killed him many times during the "Changes of Fall" 2020 bonus event today in OOT, which provides a boosted chance for named mobs to spawn, along with increased faction.
He spawned 6 times during an uncontested 2.5 hour clearing session of the entire island during early morning hours.
He was clearly not affected by any in-game time requirements; he spawned at 7PM, 3PM, 6AM, 12PM, 8AM, and 6AM respectively.
Also, he apparently has some aggro dialogue I've not noticed before:
Quote:
An ancient cyclops says, 'Long have I lived. Crush you I shall!'
The information listed above: ~Placeholder is: a dervish cutthroat~ ~ This mob spawns at +1251, -1635, +34. Northeast of the wizard spire.~ ~Respawn Timer: 24 minutes 42 seconds on progression servers confirmed~ May be for the AC in South Ro - the link is for the AC in OOT, and the photo is from OOT. If it is for OOT then it is no longer correct and has not been for a long time. The coordinates put you out in the middle of the ocean.
Just go to the cyclops island and clear it until you get the spawn. It is the second island west of the teleporter on sister island +1600 -2700 -290
It can take several hours and multiple full island clears, or it can take minutes.

The above info is for the South Ro AC, it shows above it's for South Ro. If a NPC shares the same name, the wiki info that's attached to them will be shared, so in order to tell them apart we set their zone names above the info. I've added the OOT info as well.
Just zoned in to OOT on a nostalgia trip after jumping off Plane of Sky into Freeport Bay. Thought I'd just go and splat a few seafuries, since I levelled there many years ago. Interesting zone revamp, don't know why they bothered, I was alone in zone, typical... Anyway, I killed a few seafuries and was surprised to find a Ring of the Ancients on a corpse. wtf? D'oh, an Ancient Cyclops corpse?. I spent many, many hours camping this guy many years ago, even more "queueing" for my turn at the spawn point on the adjacent island. I was really proud when I got my jboots. Obviously useless now, like the zone.

For all those too low a level to "just clear the island" as I was when I first went there. 2 boxed a 34 cleric and 38 chanter. Every thing con'ed red to the cleric, red, yellow and a just a few dark blue to the chanter. Used one tank merc and the seafuries weren't too hard to kill. but could only keep 6 or 8 killed off before they started to repop. Left the named alone, well sept for that one bad pull when it seemed to set of a chain reacation of aggro and I seemed to get the whole beach on me. Good thing I kept my swimming skill up. anyhow, I spent quite a few hours there over the corse of a week. when I left I think the cleric was level 46 and the chanter was 47 or 48 and got 3 Anicent cyclops. I can say for certain you don't have to kill anything but seafurries to get the anicent cyclops to spawn! sometimes I spent 3 hrs and never saw him, other times I got him in about 45 minutes. How long it takes is just the luck of the draw. The more seafurries you can kill the better your chance's.
Ok, so I started a new character on FV, at level 60 I went into OOT to do the jboots quest, I was on the island for 6 hours, killed over 1000 cyclops, and cleared the island over 50 times, got around 10 quags, and finally when i sat down to med, he spawned.
So the AC is supposed to be fairly common? I don't think so. Killed Seafuries for about 3 hours, several hundred killed. Saw about 25 of Quag. Not a single AC.
Kill all Seafury Cyclops.as they are ph for Quag (have resist magic up as he sucks mana) and ph for Tainted/corrupted (summons).....Had three AC's up at one time.....all alts have JBoots and most of my guild now lol....GL and remember it's a big bad world out there
I'd love to pick up jboots for my necro twink. I just started playing again after 4+ yrs off and I remember camping this mob in OOT back in '02 or '03 and tried for about 8 hrs and he never popped. My luck, he probably popped right after I left.
I'll try it again though, but won't lose sleep over it :P
In the new OOT, he can spawn anywhere on cyclops island in place of ANY cyclops. I had two Ancient Cyclops' spawn within a couple of minutes on different parts of the island, in place of Seafury's I had killed.
