Just killed him again and he dropped minor shadowrune this time. Found an easy way to pull him from his friends solo... on the south west portion of the platform there are solo orcs standing near the edge; the orc that is second to the left of the northwest bridge walks away when he gets down under 20% or so and paths directly to the commander every time... you can either root him after he gets close enough or basically just nuke him after he pulls the commander... regardless the commander will come and not his bodyguards. The commander on the other hand does not seem to run. To give yourself enough room to work with it would be smart to kill the guards at the bridge and the other solo orc near the bridge before attempting. Hope this helps

Killed him twice today, was surprised there was so little info about him here... I forget which rune he dropped the first time since I was killing several named mobs (including the other commander and picked up about 7 runes that day) But I do know the second time he died he dropped a greater shadowspine rune.. the first time I killed him he dropped one of the tradable runes. I thought it was a bit odd for him to drop the greater shadowspine rune. I'll try to kill him a few more times over the next few days and see if it drops again.
