In all Serpent Spine zones, it's doing the quests that gets the good loot, not killing the mobs. Each quest has a reward, each series of quests has a better reward, and groups of series of quests give very nice rewards. Killing Queen Nhyalea, as the last quest to be finished in Gorukar, will yield almost a complete set of Flawed Defiant armor.
