MalachiteWell it looks like the spawn has been changed.. Last night I was running back thru BB from Kali to GFay. I kept checking Track and low and behold looks like they (Verant) has added a bunch of new creatures and I counted no less than 5 Emerald Drakes in Five minutes... I killed two and both dropped turquoise. There were 3 between Xroads and Kali and two between Xroads and Gfay... So happy huntin... Oh yeah south of the huts outside the zone to Gfay is new creatures as well...
But since I was on a mission for another true shot bow I didn't take time to go check em out...

From what I can tell, the spawn is once per EQ day. Normally it spawns in the area of the Goblin camp south of CheckerBoard, fly's south to the path then along it (or just south of it) to the cross roads where it heads north towards Kaldium (ran into it, once along this route).
All I have every seen it drop was the copper band (1), lots of turquoise (about a dozen times) and nothing at all.

I have killed MANY of these im talking like probly 80 or 90 and he dropped sum weird gem like 3 times that sold for like 29 pp to a merchant. O well good exp for a 10 now 13 rogue and not bad loot when he drops the gem >:)
Try killing him a bunch maybe you will be as luck as my uber twinked Rogue (32k pp thanks to a 59 Wizzy and a 60 Paladin slayer of God Innoruuk)and get the gem pretty good exp but kinda a rare spawn

I have hunted them and killed about 20 or so. I find them mainly in the area between Gfay entrance and the 2 buildings being the most common spawn spot. About 1 every 2-3 real hours. Then I have found a few between the 2 buildings and the Crossroads. Because I usually find these latter while traveling, I cannot predict the spawn rate.
The one I killed last night dropped what I think was called a Copper Band (not Ring. I will look at it tonight for stats, since I don't see it here. It was not a No Drop item though.

Hlaf of the drakes i kill drop gems. ive gotten many a-gem from these critters

These things have a rare drop of gems and jewelry.
They can drop the first 12 gem types.

I've killed a few of them, and they haven't dropped anything. They don't give much exp either. I just fight them for the heck of it.

I killed 1 last night with my lvl 8 ranger. I did about 21 dmg to it every time, it bit me for 6 and its breath fire thing did like 18. No good loot though.

I have only seen 1 before near the fay zone but i didnt have a weapon on me. where can i find more of these monsters? and where do the spawn?

They spawn about halfway between the crossroads and the twin cabins on the way to GF zone, to the right of the road.

when i was a lvl 18 wiz i was headed to freeport and i saw one.i attacked it and it got me too 30hp.i was wondering how much hp does it have.

just saw one omw to gfaw, killed it with one combust and few blows, so iguess it had just over 200hp

I reccommend putting on something that boosts you resistance to fire. When I was a level 8, around what these are in BB Mts., I decided to attack one of these. It casted its breath on me once every two hits. It deals 18 damage each time it uses dragon breath, it deals around 20 - 24 damage maximum melee.

nah, I soloed one of these at 7 and i still had about 2/3 health. I'm a 7 Dwarf Rogue. All i got for loot was a silver stud though.

Last night my level 9 'Chanter took one out that conned blue to me. It dropped a Lapis Lazuli.

i was walking around and saw one of these and thought it was a griffin skeleton that coned black...so i killed it pretty quickly

They have a fire effect on attack which I suppose would be reduced if you had some fire resistance.

I'm a lvl 8 ranger with only 1 bubble towards 9. I've been hunting in BB and the past 3 drakes I've seen conned white to me and I didn't have too hard a time killing them.

their level has to be a range. Pretty wide too. when my ranger was lv 6 and my cleric friend lv 5, we *almost* got one. then, after he was lv 6 with alot more spells, we couldn't even make a dent in one before it killed us.

I believe that the level on the emerald drakes posted here is incorrect, i once saw one that conned even to me at 14th level

*DUH* you said it conned "even" which i'll assume means white/black when you where lvl 14, the range given above is lvl 8-14 so how is that incorrect? (man the deductive powers of some of the people who post here never cease to amaze me :::sarcasm:::)
