I am a rogue currently. There is no key, that is all I'm willing tell you.
There is a trick to getting into this room that still works on Al'Kabor.
Camp with your back against the door and relog and you should be inside the room. You will need to have a way out however or you will be stuck in the room.
This trick used to on PC EQ but was patched sometime in 2003 I think.
The Coterie can also drop some nodrop ashes or a random piece of coterie gear such as a gorget.

the room he's in is locked, i have not found a key. so far i've come to the realization that only rogues can get in this room. cause all the bard's that have tried did not have the lockpicking skilll. there must be a key. that would not be right not being a key.
he still spawns. *crosses fingers*
He only spawns about every 3/5 spawns and the wait time is like 20 mins. Kind of a pain to farm this guy. At 66 with epic 1.0 and a few aa's, its quicker to farm high keep guards. I can farm 1k in the same 20 mins that it takes to spawn one mob from this room. Not to mention I fall asleep sometimes just waiting to get my hands on this guy. Its waiste of time unless your a pet class and in which case you need someone like me to let you in. Enough said.
