Classes: The Shaman

Shamen - primitive power. The only magic using class of the barbarians, ogres and trolls, shamen get a variety of spells that combine aspects of most of the other magic using classes. This combination, along with the racial strength, means the class can be played in a variety of different ways.

What is the best way to develop and play your shaman? What spells and skills are the most and least useful? Can a shaman be soloed, and if so how? How should you play your shaman in a group?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Shaman and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Depends on what you want to do, really...

Shaman is a great class to play, and of course, if you're going to use your beast as a tank, it can be useful to have a healer.

But if you want to do someting you haven't done before, you should pick something else, because shm/bst are rather close to each other. So if you're want a healer type, pick druid or cleric.

But I suggest that you try something completely different, why not a necro/mage/wizzy? Or create a couple of different ones, level them to about 10-15, and find out what you like most.

Where to fight?
Well, the newbie zones Crescent Reach, Blightmore are providing good hunting grounds and quests, so you can get real good gear for newbie gear and save your plat for later, or just buy things you really want.

Pretty sure he is talking about as a new main. Shamans are pretty verstile and can solo stuff later on that bsts can not unless raid geared. They are similar, but that is mainly because bsts are a hybrid between shaman and monk. I say go for it and try out the shaman class, if you don't like it, go back to playing your bst.
