Classes: The Bard

Bards - the jack of all trades. Each level is a new song and a new way to play. Handy with a weapon and able to wear decent armor, bards can hold their own in a fight. Plus, the ability to twist two to three songs without using mana gives the bard a magical ability like no other class.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of the bard? Can they solo, and if so how? How should they best contribute to the group? What is the best strategy to develop your bard? What skills and songs are the most important for you to master? What equipment should you be trying to get for your bard.

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the bard and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

I am currently a level 42 bard. I am stuck on which song to chose, i have been using them in groups for a while now, well since i got them both, and i always which one i should use, they cancel each other out which is a pain. I was wondering which i should use, or should i just base it on the circumstance? the two songs are psalm of vitality, and the other is psalm of mystic shielding, one gives magic protection, health regen and absorb magic damage, and small amout of ac, and the other gievs a ds, poison resistand armor class, any help would be appriciated

Psalm of mystic shielding will probably be more useful in most situations. Just remember that the absorb damage component is kind of like a rune, so if you're tank is getting nuked a lot, the song is going to keep dropping.

Another thing to look at is the DS from your other psalms. It's not huge, but it is modded by voice, so if you wanted to amp it once in a while, it could be nice, especially since slowing at that level really isn't that effective.

So, if you want the extra HP regen and MR, go with shielding. If you want a specific resist and a stacking DS, go with one of the elemental/disease/poison psalms. It's going to depend on your group and situation more then anything.
