The Butcherblock Mountains are the land of the dwarves. This rugged mountain range serves as the gateway into Norrath for the dwarves of Kaladim with its citizens, guards, and vendors well-represented throughout the area.

The Greater Faydark can be found to the East while Dagnor's Cauldron lies to the South. These mountains also connect to both the Ocean of Tears and Timorous Deep as the docks in Port Faydwer service both oceans.

Buffed up goblins?
# Jun 06 2001 at 9:08 PM Rating: Default
I was wandering along in BB when i ran into a goblin. I saw this goblin killing a dwarf. Thinking this dwarf was a low level player in need, I proceeded to do the 'paladinly' thing and save this dwarf from impending doom. The goblin then proceeded to kick my butt very very hard and I had to proceed over to the guards so they could take care of this goblin for me. This goblin was red to me 18, something I have never seen before. Can someone please explain to me why the goblin (not a crazed goblin, just "a goblin") is so tough to beat? Any input would be appreciated.

Can confirm he acts as a pet if items given to him. Some folk disagree on best items or that he doesn't follow. I think he mostly doesn't follow when he is already a pet to another char. His pathing can be whacked and seperate him for quite some time. I gave food & drink when he was sleeping in the docks. Thereafter I gave 1cp/fight and 1sp/food/drink if he did well.
He is affected by buffs but have not tried weapons or armor on him. Heh, acts like hyper-rabbit under Sow.
Crazed Goblins
# Jun 03 2001 at 9:04 AM Rating: Default
These are white/yellow/blue to my lvl 28 druid.
They can be kited easily as long as snare holds.
Do not try to melee unless you are a high lvl warrior, they hit me for 50+ and interupt casting.
The loot is very good. Most drop between 2-4pp and small ringmail mantle that sells for 2 1/2 pp or a fine steel dagger that sells for 3 1/2pp. Very good exp if you live. BTW make sure you have the MOB targeted before you cast snare..OUCH! thats going to leave a mark!
Crazed Goblins

Those goblins were also yellow and red to a 25th level.

They spawn at the dwarf stones between the BB newbie hill and the midlevel field. Its number 6 on the EqAtlas map
Crazed Goblin
# Jun 01 2001 at 12:24 AM Rating: Decent
Noticed a new set of mobs on track as i was running through. Crazed Goblins. Were yellow and red to a 24 ranger and had 2 or 3 on track. I'm assuming it's a typical goblin camp with a couple tents and a firepit. I didn't go in to check it out, but their location seemed to be: North of crossroads, then east/right into one of the canyons along the path. Just thought folks might be interested in something a bit higher than the usual lowbie stuff in the zone.
RE: Crazed Goblin

It's a completely typical goblin camp as long as you like lvl 30 goblins. They drop a piece required for the Sword of the Nobleman quest (Ghoulbane).
Walnan

Does anyone know the abouts of where Walnan roams? I scoured BBM for an hour with my Druid ('Master' Tracker), and could find her.

I've seen her a few times. She hangs out mostly on the path between Kaladim and the Docks. I saw her standing outside Kaladim once and then she walked up the path back to the Dock area.

Greedy Halfing

There is a new mob named A Greedy Halfling in the zone now. Giving him money doesn't yield any further clues what he may be here for.

i ran into this greedy halfling myself. No idea what he is for, but if you give him some money, he will follow you and help you out in the zone. I gave him 6 copper and after that, he followed me from docks to gfay zoneline, and i decided to do a little hunting before zoning. he actually helped me fight mobs. can hit for as high as 12 as i see. and you can NOT hit/kill him. i tried ;)

# Jun 04 2001 at 5:09 PM Rating: Default
That's odd. I found him on a trail in BBM and decided to give him a whack. He was only blue to my level 6 character and died quickly and easily. His faction hits were bascially opposite Runneye gobs (but nothing on dwarves ... just Halflings and Rivervale stuff). Odd. Perhaps next time I'll try giving him something ...

Once you give him some money, he's essentially a pet - which is why you can't attack him. Might be able to kill him otherwise.

Qued
# May 15 2001 at 11:19 AM Rating: Decent
I dont see Qued on this list. I beleive he is a Bandit. I see him often running to the guards at crossroads and getting killed. He is white to my level 11 Pally. Have not killed him so dont know faction.

No, if you have not killed any Dwarves or anything, you will simply be dubious to the gaurds, human-dwarf race relations are relatively good.

I too have seen this walanan. I did not get much out of him/her because it did not show up on my "who" list and was red to me.
It wore a purple/pink robe. I was very afraid of it.

Island?
# Apr 21 2001 at 1:36 PM Rating: Default
I am a 12 Monk on the Innoruuk server.. I know almost every area in the game pretty well but the other day a guild mate of mine (Undead Legion) said he had been on an island in Butcher Block with gnomes on it? He was swimming around oot and was completely lost and got a port from a GM to Butcher. He said she took him to some gnome island but i got no more info from him. Anyone know where is this, what its for, any way to access it?
Durik Battlemaster?
# Apr 16 2001 at 9:20 AM Rating: Default
Pulled the guards at the first hut towards the sea from Kaladim, and this guy Durik Battlemaster came with them. He was blue to 51, but had a TON of HP (I'm guessing around 16k, hard to tell with the damage penalty DoTs get to moving creatures).

I'll be starting a dorf to see if he can talk to this guy and find out what's up.
orc runner
# Mar 28 2001 at 10:36 PM Rating: Decent
i killed something called an orc runner today,it conned blue to me. It droped a runner pouch, is this a new item, because it's no-drop and i don't know which quest this is part of. please reply.
RE: orc runner
# Mar 30 2001 at 11:43 AM Rating: Decent
The orc runner isn't listed yet. He drops a Runner's Pouch and "A Sealed Letter". They are both no drop quest items. The Runner's Pouch can be handed in to 2 different NPCs (General Jyleel in the Paladin guild in Felwithe or Dill Fireshine in the Ranger guild in Kelethin*) and "A Sealed Letter" also can be turned in to Dill Fireshine. I haven't tried turning "A Sealed Letter" in to General Jyleel yet. I'll post again once I try it.

Reward was(Dill Fireshine):
Runner's Pouch => Leather Skullcap
A Sealed Letter => Long Bow

* Dill WON'T respond about this in conversation. The quest info is given after completing the Orc Hatchet quest.
Lesser spirit
# Mar 22 2001 at 9:40 PM Rating: Decent
Um, you guys forgot the lesser spirit. He is a very low level wolf form transparent thingy. He does spels, gives no loot (as of yet) and Talks a lot.
Who is Qued?
# Mar 20 2001 at 5:25 PM Rating: Default
I just killed a NPC called "Qued". he is blue to a lvl 10 HalfElf bard. He is KoS to HalfElf. and he drop a "Qued's tougue". its No Drop. Anyone ideas whats it for? where it spwan? I lost the faction of Bandit and gain the Dwanf guard faction.
RE: Who is Qued?
# Mar 21 2001 at 6:17 PM Rating: Default
Qued is one of the bandits. He and numerous other bandits in the zone all drop tongues. The one tongue you need for the quest involved that can't be found in BB is found in Crushbone on Rondo Dunfire. If I'm not mistaken, there are two different quests requiring two different sets of tongues. Hope this helps.
2new dwarfs
# Mar 15 2001 at 1:24 AM Rating: Default
There are 2 new dwarf chicks at head stones close to the docks. Have same last name, something like Dandum. THey conned blue to me at 37, hit max about 95. conned indifferent to troll shadowknight
RE: 2new dwarfs
# Mar 18 2001 at 7:08 AM Rating: Default
Their names are Darm and Ganbar. 20 minute spawn; level 35; double hit 70+; always drop 2h bronze battle axe plus up to 5p; occasional fs weapons, small ringmail armor pieces, dwarf blood, and dwarf meat (parts?). Easy for level 36 druid, ensnare, DoT, combust until dead. Pretty high resists. About 1,700 hps.

Walnan
# Jan 27 2001 at 8:43 PM Rating: Decent
I just ran into a NPC human woman named Walnan out in the hills. I couldn't get her to explain her quest/s. Anyone know anything about her?
RE: Walnan
# Mar 12 2001 at 5:17 PM Rating: Default
I ran into Walnan with my mage and couldn't get her to say anything interesting to me, so i forgot about her. Later, i brought my rogue to her and when she asked if i might be an elementalist in search of the truth i told her "no" and got a whole long response! lol
Walnan: not worth camping
# Feb 18 2001 at 7:27 AM Rating: Default
As the subject indicates, walnan is not worth camping.

Class: Mage
Race: High elf
HP: Approx 15,000 (Yes I logged and parsed the battle hehe)
Max damage: 115
Level: 45 (I think, was blue to 55 bard, but barely resisted any snare / fear spell)
Loot: Purple sr. apprentice robe
RE: Walnan
# Jan 29 2001 at 9:52 PM Rating: Decent
You know, got into a conversation with her, which culminated in her asking me if I was wanting to learn about magic, and when I said yes, all she did was cast a spell on herself. I think this is a broken/not yet implemented quest NPC, OR you have to be an enchanter to get any result.

She seems to be new (don't recall ever having seen her before), so perhaps they're still working on it.

Of course, if anyone has any solid information on this, it would be appreciated . . .
