Can a lvl 17 rogue and lvl 19 cleric camp at least the first floor? If so when is it safe to move to the 2nd floor? What kind of gobs are they cause I see pickclaw on the pics but the name of the place is Runnyeye? If it's runnyeye I will sterr clear of this place seeing as I'm a dwarf and my standing with them can't get any worse.

What is the spawn time Runney Eye.
Went there today to camp the warlord room some and we go in clean the room out and sit to wait for the 20 min spawn back. Well 20 mins come and go, then 30 min. We give up and get bored and leave.
Has the spawn time been changed after the dungeon was changed ?

What drops BA stuff.. I need to know, and also I hate how those Pickclaws, Mezz you, I killed 5 of my allies because I was mezzed! I have a 11 39 1hs so hehehe.. Also where are the merchants?
RE: BA stuff

Blacken Alloy armor is mostly dropped by Pickclaw Destroyers and Veterans on the 4th floor. The merchant and a banker are also on 4th floor. BA longsword and ******* sword can drop from destroyers and veterans, as well as the Battlemaster and Lord. BA medallion drops from Slayspells, Battlewizard and Lord. BA coif and mask seem to only drop from Lord Pickclaw himself. Hope this helps.

Just a bit of info to add to this, the first time I was farming here, I looted a BA Coif, unfortunately forgot what I killed, but I did *not* touch Lord Picklaw when I was there. Basically meaning the coif doesn't only drop from Lord Pickclaw.

Sporelet????
# Aug 27 2001 at 12:17 AM Rating: Good
Ok, i walked into the 3rd lvl to kill a few sporeguys, and being a druid i tend to forage in between battles. I incedently initiated a trade with a Sporelet (last 3 letters i cant remember but thinking it was "let"). My character only being lvl 32, i called a lvl 40 over, and then a lvl 52 happened by, Guess what, he con'ed RED to all of us!!! The creat is invis, such that seeing invis doesnt even show it, the only way i found to target it was to either use assist or to give it something (yes i know 2 spots that it sits). Curiouse as heck and having a little exp to blow i attacked it, no message, but did get to see an explosion in mid air. Walked over to slash it, and 100% whiff, casted dual DoT's, snare, and root, no message for any of them (believe me i was there for over 2 hours). It never once attacked me, but it did go away and come back on occation. There is another invis thing there (didnt get to con it) something mold, handed it veggies on accident (was looking for the sporelet) and poof it exploded, no exp, no corpse, but i got a message that is exploded. If anyone out there has a clue as to WHAT THE HECK these 2 things are, please post, they are both pretty easy to find, just seemingly impossible to see/damage/or even to get it to agro. Neither one showed up on track, so that is even yet another variable, perhaps something was left off or maybe the veliose upgrade or even the new SoL upgrade might give more answers, just FYI, use it wisely, and if ya can figure it out PLEASE POST i am gonna go crazy til i get ganked by it at least once!!!!

Runnyeye (what else?)
# Aug 18 2001 at 2:23 AM Rating: Good
Well ok i've camped in runnyeye several times. Lots of great cash here people. MoldMaster and fungi boys are on level 3. Most spawns seem to have about a 20 minute timer.

The Lord, BattleLord, and BattleWizzard seem to have somewhat random spawn times, but they usualy have a 2 to 3 hour respawn rate. Ive seen the Pickclaw Lord spawn two times in the same hour. Other times it was much longer. They all spawn in about 7 diffrent places in the zone.

The Pickclaw Lord somtimes spawns behind a locked door. Do not go behind the locked door even if it opens when a gobbie comes out unless you can Gate, Pick locks, or have a druid who can tp you. You can get TP'd through the locked door. Ive had to do it. Also you can summon your dead corpse through the locked door if its close to the door. Ive done that too.

Many diffrent spawns drop the black alloy armor. The ones that do the most are, The Pickclaw Destroyer, Pickclaw Veteran, Lord Pickclaw, BattleLord, and BattleWizard.

The Lord and BattleWizard are very underconed. I saw a cocky lvl 51 druid try to solo the BattleWizard and the Druid was down to one red quickly. BattleWizard casts for 240 damage. A lvl 41 War and myself (then 35) Ranger took the whole floor for many hours. Only trouble we had was the Wizard and that Locked door.

Lord drops BA coif, BABS, Alloy Grotusque Mask, various alloy armor, And BA medalion.

BattleWizard drops BA medalion, and various other items.

BattleLord drops BABS, and various alloy armor.

Ah and the sludge guy for the cleric quest pops in the 4th floor in the room in front of the bank. He hides in a pretty cool place there.

The goblin bank is usable. Merchants too if you have sneak.

Reply on getting trapped behind the door. A bard and rogue were hunting (both 35) and the bard got trapped behind the door. Only way he got out was to have the rogue aggro a mob, pull him to room, and the bard assisted. Bard then charmed mob, and the mob opened the door when walking to the bard.

Murderer of the Battlelord
# Jul 19 2001 at 2:21 AM Rating: Default
A little twist that I would like you all to be aware of.

I killed the Battlelord at lvl 39, even got experience. So far so good. However, after I've done that, some green small goblins called Foeseekers, started chasing me all over the dungeon, popping up right behind me and backstabbing for around 150 damage. Plus all goblins near them started aggroing on me.

This only happened after I apparently committed the crime of mureder of the big boss. Before that, I used to walk right past the foeseekers and not aggro them. They cast some search spell, it appears and zero down on you without fail.

As a lvl 39 monk I had to slowly withdraw from the dungeon, pulling a LOT of feigns, and wasting a LOT of bandages, hehe. It was fun, though

RE: Murderer of the Battlelord

You took a big enough faction hit with killing him that you became KOS to the other goblins. I was able to kill the goblins in front of other wandering goblins without them jumping in to help, until I became KOS. Then they began to swarm.

Just go back to King Xorbbs Maze and kill the minotaurs and muddites to reverse the faction hit.
Ore on Janitor?

I have heard that the Goblin Janitor has high quality STACKABLE ore as a rare drop. This is needed to make the vale sewing kit used by halflings in tailoring. Has anyone gotten this ore off of him? And if so, how rare has it been? I am looking for some on the Tribunal server if anyone has any I would gladly buy it from them. Need 2 pieces to make the sewing kit.

The janitor does drop it. Got one today on Xev. We were waiting in the room that the goblin king spawns in, and the janitor kept walking through so we killed him. Dropped the ore and a rusty weapon.
GREENIES!!!!!!! ARG!!!
# Jul 12 2001 at 5:26 PM Rating: Default
I thought that Varent had fixed the greeny aggro problem. There is nothing more irritating than walking in here and having 6 greens jump you and no give you exp. I know that some greens that are close to being blue attack and that's okay, but the darn things that have no buisness attacking you should leave you alone. It's like walking into a swarm of mesquito's for crying out loud, they're always nipping at me and it's a pain in the butt!! Anyway I was really wondering if the lower lvls have less aggroing mobs. I read that someone said the sporali's were doubiously or something so does that mean they wont mess with me as much for just walking by? Also, what lvl is the sporali defender on?? I WANT THAT DANG BLADE!! HEHE)

Alrigty:
Im a Cleric of the 29th season on the Quellious server. Ive gone to this zone several times since 27 and each time there are no more than 15 people in the zone, and ALL of them are 40 + in level.
Is this the same on your server. Ive looked at the maps and even though it has twisted hallways, it should be an extreamly camped dungeon in my eyes.
So far I cannot solo, because too many greens swamp me from 2nd floor down, and when I bring a Warrior friend, we both died and decided against the dungeon.
The main reason we were going there were for drops (not in exp either).

So, why is it so empty... the city on the 4 level, looks like it would be fun to destroy. (only from maps)

So your input would be greatly appreciated.

My server is completely different. I play on Sullon Zek and last night, PC outnumbered Golins 2 to 1!. I think there were 50 something people there. Anyway, it might have something to do with the ae of the server, or maybe because of the territory issue, but either way, our group had very litle to fight.

Old Vs New
I would say that for the intended lvls and the groups that hunted or hunt here the old RE was harder. Prekunark, during the glory days of RE, if they can be called that. The major draw was the BIBS. This dropped in what was called the knights room, The seconed floor. Because of the EEs you had to take the long ramp down and break the spawn the hard way. Also even after the spawn was broke you could be flooded with mobs and it was inpossible to keep them from running for help. Furthermore this was befor twinking became rampent. Also even untwinked have better equipment now. Chain, and Bronze were the most common armor typs, and FS weapons were the norm.
Now most of the action is in the kings room area. There are, and always have been fewer mobs in this area. Yes the new mobs are higher lvl, but then the people who hunt here for exp and loot are higher lvl, and much better equipted then in the old days.

Black Alloy ******* Swrod:
Alot has been said about how the BABS compairs to the Mithril Two Handed Sword. I'll leave the theroy to others. But since leaving RE with my BABS, I have been in groups with other using more expensive weapons, and this is how I feel the BABS compairs.
The BABS is much better than the Ax of the Iron Black, the Drakkel Forged ******* Sword, the crystallized two handed sword, and the Runic Carver.
The BABS is noticable better then the Nathsar Greatsword, the Blade of Xalgoz, and the Jarsath Battle Sword.
I would say that there is no noticable differance between the Drakkel Icereaver and the BABS, save for the proc. Some say that there is a big damage differance between a 39 delay and a 40 delay. If so I have yet to see it. The last two evenings I have spent at the FM Giant Fort in a group with another Barbarian War weilding the Icereaver and me using the BABS. His best hit 108, my best hit 107, Frequency of above 100 hits is the same.
The best thing about the BABS is the weight. While rasing skill in 2hb, I just carry the BABA also, and if there is a bad pull or I'm the only tank i have a good damage weapon, with a lvl maxed skill to fall back on.
New Runney -- one persons thoughts
# Jun 19 2001 at 12:06 PM Rating: Excellent
Info on RunneyEye:

For starters this dungeon did not get any easier. In my opinion it got harder. There are a lot more wondering goblins and sporali. I will break this down by floor to the best of my ability.

Floor 1:

Pretty good for low levels a few wondering goblins and some standard spawn areas make this area nice for low levels. I can not say which levels it is best for since nothing on this floor agros on me. The dangers are simple several MOBS and a few casters that have some nice damage spells (highest I have seen is 50+). Plus the majority of the MOBS have damage shields.

Floor 2:

This floor is much harder now then the old Runney. Yes they removed the EEs from this floor so nothing way to high to mess with you. Most things appear to be around 16 - 20(odd to find something 20, but has happened). The real danger is the number of goblins on this floor and the combination of classes. They have wizards, enchanters, shamens, warriors and rogues. I have been hit by a wizard( I think they are Fleshburners) for 100+ damage. Have not spent much time on this floor since everything is green to me. Blackened Iron Armor drops of the ArrowEaters and Bladestoppers. Most rooms contain up to 4 goblins plus there are always wonders. Occasionally a sporali will wonder around this floor also. The sporali will not agro on you right away. They should con dubious to you at first. If you kill a few this will change of course.

If you want to venture down to the second floor, I recommend using the blocked stairs not the long ramp. The blocked stairs lead to the room that use to have the EE siting in it. If you go down the long ramp you could be in for a huge fight with all the MOBS that move around that area.

Floor 3:
The home of Sporali or as I like to call them shroomheads. These guys are pretty tough and seem to be around level 18 - 22. The hardest being the defender that hits for 50+. There is also the named sporali the moldmaster. He is a caster, not sure what type but would say Shamen class. He is very tough, not sure of what level though. Sporali are great exp but they dont drop good loot. You will get some high quality ore and gems but not often. They do drop a nice caster shield on occasion too. The Sporali defenders blade can be found on the Moldmaster or a defender on occasion.

A few things to note about the Sporali:

1 -- They regenerate faster than average.
2 -- When they die the leave some seeds on occasion. These turn into little Sporali that will jump you in a fight. They do not have a lot of hp but hit hard. If you stay in one area and fight for some time, you will have like 5 of these pop at once and be on you.

Floor 4:

This is where the good loot is. Like level 2 they have several classes out there but are much harder. Every room seems to have 3 - 5 spawns in it + there are wondering mobs. The casters hit hard and fast the worst being the Slayspell. This guy ripped of 3 spells on me each doing 175 damage. There are the Zekspeak which are shamans and they hit hard too but nothing compared to the slayspell. I have not run into an enchanter on this floor.

The Rogue class is represented by the Foeslicer and loves nothing better then to Backstab you for 150+ damage, so dont turn your back on him.

The warrior class is represented by the Foechopper (lowest level) then the Destroyer and the Vets. These guys all drop BA armor. It is a very rare drop off of the Foechopper and not a common drop off the destroyer or vets. The destroyer and vet also drop the BA longsword and ******* Sword, but these are also rare.

Most of these goblins have some plat, have gotten 5 plat off of one before. They drop alot of words too.

The Battlelord, Battlewizard, Lord Picklaw all have random spawns so they can not be camped and can not be avoided.

Just a note all the the casters can cast through walls around corners and out of sight.

If you go and are 18 - 22 take friends, hunt level 2 and 3. Run like hell if you get 2 or more casters on you. 23 - 28 can partner pretty easy if there are others in the zone and on the same floor. You want to hunt level 4 and depending on your group and levels avoid the Battlewizard. His spells are up to 250 damage. After 28 I would say most things, except names, will be green. So that is your choice as to what to fight.

At level 25 nothing on the 2 floor gave me exp. The 3rd floor was all light blue and some greens.
The 4th floor is all blue except the named spawns that are all red. Battlelord is yellow at 26.

Hope this helps someone.

Update
# Jun 17 2001 at 5:03 AM Rating: Decent
Whoever says the story doesn't make sense, you are high, and didn't go very deep into the zone at ALL.

You were hanging out in an area obviously designed for high teens-low 20's, so of course you found it fairly easy in your late 20's.

Go pick on Lord Pickclaw or any of his friends in the old King area, and you will see how they chased the Evil Eyes out and beat the Runnyeye goblins.

Individually, they are tougher than the old goblins. And they have better loot to compensate for that.

The zone isn't EASIER, it's just that whoever redid the zone did a GOOD job on it. The flavor text, the goblin rhymes, etc, all show a nice attention to detail. Once again, it isn't EASIER, now it's PLAYABLE. There's a difference.

Population is much better done. Too many mobs, packed in too tightly before, pathing was a problem, trains would ruin your whole day, and only a few parts of the dungeon was being used.

In short, the old Runnyeye was a mess, with only a few places you could hunt, and usually it was just a quick shopping trip to pick something up and leave.

Now, there are not as many mobs in a given area, there are fewer 'greens' if you are in the 20-30 level range, and the loot is pretty damn good.

And just plain exp'ing there is FUN. And the Sporali add a nice bit of variety to the zone as well.

In my opinion, and I've spent MANY MANY hours in the old Runnyeye, from back in Beta 4 and early release, it's a solid rework, much better than the original, and for those of you who haven't checked it out, I encourage you to do so.

/RANT ON
If you're just into getting exp and tacking new levels to your sig, stick in SK, Oasis, or LOIO, and work on your mad outdoor skillz.

If you want a good place to learn teamwork and dungeon handling in your late teens to late 20's, go to Runnyeye. Trust me, those skills will come in handy later in your career, and I think everyone who plays the high level game would appreciate more people learning to dungeon crawl instead of kiting.
/RANT OFF

As for the evil eyes, they also drop quest components for the Warrior Crafted armor.

As somebody else said, if you choose not to adventure in this zone, you can use it as a base. It's not hard to get good Pickclaw faction by killing mobs in Beholder, or Halflings. Then you can sell and bank there. Another very nice touch.

I do wish they'd put better merchants in, but at least they are there.

Greetings,

Was wondering if anyone knows where Sludge Dankmire/Darkmire (whatever his last name is)has moved to since the patch. I've been looking for him for the cleric quest armor and he hasn't been at the bottom of the well like he used to be (when I was too low of a lev to kill him...grrr). Does anyone know? Thank you in advance.

Sludge still spawns at the bottom of that well. If he was killed, he can take a while to respawn. I have seen him respawn 2 hours after he was killed.

About the Changes
# Jun 13 2001 at 9:46 AM Rating: Good
Ok, here it is...some info on RunnyEye. After playing EQ since it's first release, RunnyEye is basically a stripped down version of it's self. The way the story goes is this...the Runnyeye clan of goblins; ruled by evil eyes lost the war with the other clan of goblins (there name slips my mind; but it's not important anyways). Interms of the game it's self, makes the zone much, much easier to play in. After a year and more the zone wasn't easy to play in so Sony/Ver. add a zone bonus to the zone to try to attract players to the zone.....it didn't work. So recently, they changed that. For those of you who know the story of the two clans fighting...probably came to the same conclusion.....What a weak story! I know this is a little off the subject that I'm trying to let people know, but there is a point. If the zone is much easier to fight in; and trust me, it is. Me and my girlfrind who is a lvl 26 warrior can for the most part fight all over this place with ease. How in the heck did this new clan of goblins win the war! Before the patches, this place was pretty dangerous, now woot! My point is the story over this place really doesnt't make sense, and with that in mind...in your lower mid 20's with just a partner you could just have a heyday here.

Now take in mind that most of the quest items are still here. Just not where we origially post them on the internet before the patch. If you have followed the story line for this area it become apparent, since the one clan won and the leaders of the old clan lost...they are no more. For those of you who know what I'm talking about, the blackened armor is still around, just not on named goblins. Interms of the BI armor you have look around for goblins who drop them. I would tell you which one and where to find them, but the maps that we where using didn't have half of these location even named, and I'm sorry....but we where fighting so many I didn't get there class names; but the BI armor is still there, there is one place I do believe we went to that there are four mid 20 gobs in this room, which three of them after camping there for awhile drop some of the BI armor. Like I said before...I'm sorry for not being able to give you a /loc or the kind of gob that will drop the armer. :( You will have to search for them, these gobs are easy pick'ens for a mid 20's 2 person group. And hopefully someone will get there goblin class names; Note I didn't say there NAMES,as in named goblins, if guessed that BI now drops off of no named gobins but named types of goblins, you guessed correctly. In one sense it make it hard to Isolate one particular goblin for one particular armor, but since these goblins are much easier to fight and easier to wonder around Runnyeye.....I guess this is far.
Now on the other hand, the lens for the Eye of the Observer quest was easy to find. Going by the story line, Borxx died, but his two comrades servived, and they are in captivity. Easy to get too, you just have to go to the Captured Evil Eye room. But watch out, they charm and they are lvl 30's. This room is the only room that you will need a mid too full group in(depending on the level of players in the group). You will also need someone to be able to keep you from getting charmed or get you uncharmed. There at full spawn there should be two Evil Eyes and four goblins (sometimes five) who are more a bother than a real fight and there is a bit of a lvl difference between the goblins and the eyes. For high lvl groups, you're more there for the exp. than the lens. for high teens and low twenties this quest might be worth it; especially if you don't die. In terms of whether this weapon is worth the risk, especially if you are in your 30's, I would have to say NO...at least for the Priest class. There are better weapons for this class, at a lesser cost to you. But on the other hand, if your in the pure caster class or in a priest class, and your not to concerned over the melee portion, then this is a 3 and a half star weapon for you, as long as you follow my advice, the room should be straight forward.

I hope I was some kind of help to you all. We went through the zone rather quickly, killing everything that was in are way, so I didn't get the time to spend on getting more post patch info that I wanted to get to help you all. But anyways, happy hunting to you all, and if I go back I'll try to get more percise info and post it here and send some to Muse and EQatlas.

Kitty Cap

"I want the Cat's Skull Cap. I am a level 19 Enchanter. Can I take the Gelatinous Cube? Can I make it to level four invis? If I start fighting the cube will other creatures come to its assistance? How does the cube fight..mele or casting? "

Unless you kill a lot of them on the way in, almost all of the mobs in the zone are indifferent, so you can go to lvl 4 with no invis if you want. The only cube I have spotted in there was blue to my 24 warrior, and put up a decent fight. I would recommend you take a group. Also, I have killed a few random goblins with the cap, so don't just run down and look for the cube...
