After you complete the last quest for your Cudgel of the Channeler (and many congrats by the way you are an elite Iksar Shaman by now) you speak to Hierophant Dexl, the other Hierophant. This is the conversation.

You say, 'Hail Hierophant Dexl'

Hierophant Dexl seems to be preocupied. He is examining an egg. 'What?!! Who has [sent] you to me? Bah!! Away with you.' He ignores you and continues chanting.

You say, 'Di Nozok sent me'

Hierophant Dexl drops the egg he was holding. Egg yolk splatters on your foot. His eyes roll back into his head. He speaks, but his voice is that of a female. 'I await you, Cradossk . My sisters and I yearn for the return of our skulls. We are the [Sisters of Scale]. Find us and bring to this hierophant our skulls and your iron cudgel of the Channeler. Go.'

You say, 'Who are the Sisters of Scale'

Hierophant Dexl wipes egg yolk from his clothing. 'My, what a mess!! Hmmph!! What did you say? Sisters of Scale? They were a legendary trio of mystics. We once had their skulls sealed within this temple, but now they are lost. I sent a channeler to retrieve them. His name was Vagnar. I am sure he shall find them.'

You say, 'who is vagnar'

Hierophant Dexl says 'He's a capable channeler, I trust he knows where to look and will prepare himself. Any competent servant of our Lord would prepare potions and supplies before going on such a quest. If he doesn't come back, it's no great loss, he wasn't Hierophant material anyway.'

This is as far as Dexl goes. The next set of clues was found on the Herb Vendor Island in West Cabilis. The dialogue goes like this.

You say, 'Who what where is Vagnar'

Jaxxtz says 'Vagnar? I don't recall.....Unless Vagnar was that shaman supposedly on some quest to save our entire race from total destruction..someone always on one of those. He bought some charms to ward of [Dragon kin]. He's most likely in the belly of some beast now.'

You say, 'What Dragon kin'

Jaxxtz says 'Yes he said he needed to steal secrets from the hated Sarnaks to aid him in his true quest. He said the sarnak know ways to cleanse the mind from intrusion, he would say no more.'

There is an Alchemy potion recipe that drops off Sarnak Adherants in the Sarnak Fort in Ill Omen. This ties directly into the text given by Jaxxtz the herb merchant. The recipe is written in Lizardman and when read shows this:

Xinth
From Opal Slush and Dristilate shall come Xinth. From Sarnak Nightdust, Gorge Moss, and Sponge Mushroom shall come Opal Slush. From Firiona Drixie Dust, Stoneleer Emerald plume, and Slate Chant Rock shall come Dristilate.

OPAL SLUSH - OBTAINED
1. Sarnak Nightdust - Sarnak Partisans in Frontier Mountains
2. Gorge Moss - Foraged in Gorge of King Xorbb
3. Sponge Mushroom - Foraged in Mines of Nurga

DRISTILATE
1. Firiona Drixie Dust - From Drixies in Firona
2. Stoneleer Emerald Plume - Found on Cockatrices in Overthere
3. Slate Chant Rock - Found on Goblin Rockchanters in Nurga. Tan in Color.

Once made the potions will be called "A Potion of Swirling Liquid." It is not a drinkable potion, only a potion in name. It is trivial to make with alchemy at around 40.

At this point you will need to head into the Crypt of Dalnir. On the second floor there is a spawn called the Coerced Channeler. He mumbles to himself and if killed screams about a river of Xinth. Give the Coerced Channeler the Potion of Xinth. He despawns and is replaced by our Friend Vagnar the Channeler. Vagnar gives you the first of the skulls of the sisters of scale and immediately becomes KOS and runs off screaming "Go to where the pines have been smashed. Must reach great heights!"

If you go to the Burning Woods outside the Sarnak Fort/Chardok there you will see 2 guard towers. The top of the East Guard Tower is reachable. You must go back 150 feet from the gate on the zone wall. There is a spot there where you can climb high enough to be above the roof of the guard tower. Fire up levitate and scale of the wolf. Then run straight at the tower, preferably in windowed mode. You should run right in. Inside you will meet an NPC named Atheling Plague.

He tells you,' Ahh!! A conversationalist. How good to meet you, Cradossk. Yes. I have heard of you. Go ahead and ask for that which has brought you to my tower and emboldened you to slay my weaker minions.'

Say to him "Give me the skull of the sisters of scale"

He replies, "'What a coincidence! I, too, seek a skull. Perhaps you might help me [obtain the skull]. Perhaps then you shall have the skull you desire.'

You say, 'I will help you obtain the skull'

Atheling Plague says 'I am sure you would not mind removing the head of a scaled mystic. I hope not. There is an old Iksar who once called me slave. Now he shall adorn my wall, mounted on a fine plaque. His name is Digalis. Find him. Do not return until your task is complete.'

In the Temple of Droga in the Jail there you can find the room which spawns Iksar Prisoners. One of the Spawns is an Iksar Slave. There are 2 that look
identical but say different things when hailed. You want the one that when hailed gives you this - an iksar slave peers up at you. His face is covered
with grime and he shows scars from goblin whips. He shakes his head and goes back to his thoughts. If you ask him his name he tells you he is Digalis. This is a weird part of the quest in that you must kill him here to get your skull. You do take negative faction with Scaled Mystics which doesn't make a lot of sense. He's an easy enough kill.

Return to Atheling and hand him in your skull of Digalis. It shows as Iksar Skull LORE NO DROP. After handing it in you get this:

Atheling Plague tosses the skull over the edge of the tower. 'Excellent. You show signs of a true Iksar slayer. Too, bad I have already given the skull of the Sister of Scale to another. Perhaps you would like to meet him before he departs. Say hello, Doval.'

Atheling then spawns Clerk Doval who resides in Cabilis. Doval is a Traitor and friend of the Sarnaks it seems. You get time to get a pet out and prepare to do battle. He is no particularily tough but he is healed by Atheling. Atheling doesn't join in the fight though. Once you've killed him he says this:

Clerk Doval says 'All Iksar residents.. shall learn.. of my demise. Ungghh!!

Loot the 2nd skull from his corpse.

The 3rd skull info was discovered before the 2nd one was completed, it is probable that asking about Clerk Doval could produce results leading to Klok Poklon. By asking Klok Poklon, in the "Upstairs Bar" near the shaman guild, "Who are the Sisters of Scale"...

He responded "Hmm, yes, the Babble around here is that one of the Kloks in the Lake Garrison has one of the Sisters of Scale Skull up for Auction. The Temple will bury him when they hear of it!"

Asking around the vendors in Lake of Ill Omen yielded this:

Klok Sargin says 'Looking for the skull I had for sale? I am afraid I sold it to a staunch lizard champion. I would gladly give you his name if you
would do me a [slight favor].'

You say, 'what slight favor'

Klok Sargin says 'The lake garrison has requested that I work on a helm similar to the ones worn by sarnak dragoons. The problem is.. I need one to examine. You go get me one and I will tell you who purchased the skull.'

The Helm is dropped by Sarnak Dragoons in the Sarnak Fort in Lake of Ill Omen. The Helm is TEMPORARY so run straight back to the garrison and Klok Sargin. Hand him the Helm and you get this:

Klok Sargin appears a little shaken. He has a few bruises on his face. 'Uhh. Thanks. I sort of told the lizard who bought the skull that you were asking for him, and, well, he was kinda mad, and... Cradossk, meet Bruiser.'

He spawns an Iksar Warrior named Bruiser who says this:

Bruiser Noz is a battle-scarred lizard with arms the size of tree trunks. He approaches and speaks. You feel the lager-tinged breeze blast your skin. 'Stay out of this, Klok !! I didn't spend 30 seasons in the legion to be pestered by the likes of you!! Here I am, you little croak!! You want my skull? Come and get it!!'

Klok Sargin shakes with fear. A dark stain begins to spread across the front of his trousers. 'Ye.. Ye.. Yes.. Yes, Bruiser.'

Bruiser Noz says 'Ha!! Who dares to take what is Bruiser's!! I will make swamp mush out of them!!'

Bruiser gives you time to get a pet out etc. He's an easy kill at lvl 51 I'd say he's at most lvl 38 probably less. Kill him and you loot the 3rd Skull. Take this skull with your 2 other ones and the Cudgel of the Channeler back to Cabilis and down to Hierophant Dexl. Hand all 4 to him and you get this message:

Hierophant Dexl goes into a trance and speaks with the voice of an ancient. 'You have returned the skulls of the Sisters of Scale. For this you shall be rewarded. Take this hierophant's weapon. May you use it to smite the foes of our people.' Dexl comes out of the trance. 'What?!! Whew. Hey!! Where is my cudgel?'

You now have the cudgel.

(Meet Clerk Doval in East Cabilis.)

You say, 'Hail, Clerk Doval'

Clerk Doval takes a sip of lager and looks up at you. 'Ahh!! An adventurer of sorts? Looking for work, are we? If you have the time, I might have a bit of a [proposition] for you.'

You say, 'Who is the sisters of scale?'

Clerk Doval removes the stein from his lips. 'I have heard some babble of that. I know all [about the skulls] of those ancients.'

You say, 'What about the skulls?'

Clerk Doval says 'I heard the dragon called Trakanon swallowed them up and their skulls now lie within the belly of that vile beast. Of course, that could be just babble. One hundred gold coins may give you the tink.'

(Hand 100gp to Clerk Doval.)

Clerk Doval fills his purse with your gold. Each coin makes a tinkling sound. 'Music to my ears. Here. This may give you a hint.'

(You receive Mudcomb Muffin.
Klok Unlar in East Cabilis selling it.)

You say, 'Hail, Klok Unlar'

Klok Unlar wipes flour from his hands and turns to greet you. 'Welcome! Please look over my many treats. Do not think of the coin you shall spend. Heavy coin buys the finest and sweetest of treats. Feel free to ask me about any of the rare pies you see as I can tell you exactly how I make them.'

You say, 'What is mudcomb muffin?'

Klok Unlar says 'Mudcomb muffins are a rare treat indeed. Who would ever think such a sweet tasty morsel would require mudcombs from the giant wasps?'

(giant wasps living in Burning Woods in Kunark and Misty Thicket in Antonica, Greater Faydark and Lesser Faydark in Faydwer. But it story for Iksar. So you notice you need to go Burning Woods.)

After two attempts at the Atheling Plague / Clerk Doval part of this quest and finding A.P. on the ground near the east end of the wall inside the courtyard instead of up in the tower, but never managing to find Clerk Doval (I even made my way up into to the tower after getting the text from A.P. introducing C.D to me and not seeing him anywhere near), I decided to check the the Spirit Realm (http://crucible.samanna.net) and did a search for "atheling plague", which uncovered a patch message from 10/27/05 that includes this cryptic statement: "Atheling Plague has decided that heights aren't to his tastes, so he has left his tower."

I, of course, discovered this after filing a bug report complaining that A.P wasn't spawning in the tower. I also mentioned not being able to find C.D. anywhere, so hopefully it's not a completely wasted bug report.

Has anyone managed to complete this part of the quest since 10/27/05? If so, where did you find Clerk Doval?

Today I went to attempt the turn-in again, with a couple of friends to try to track down Clerk Doval, but Atheling Plague was not down at ground level.

So I went up to the tower and there he was, back in his old spot! I did the turn in, Doval spawned up in the tower, I killed him, and looted the skull.

I then attempted to kill Atheling for all the pain and suffering he caused me by not being where he was supposed to be before, but he resisted everything I threw at him and then punted me into the inner-most section of the room that has the zone in to Chardok.

There is nothing wrong with the helm. It is a TEMPORARY item (known as NO RENT back then). This means that it will vanish from your inventory 30 minutes after you log out or are disconnected.

Has anyone tried this quest lately? Since new patches have been added? I only ask because I just got everything done for the 6th Cudgel today handed my 3 skulls and the 5th Cudgel only to have the Hierophant take them. Nothing in return. I was amiable to him and yet he didn't give me the cudgel. Is there a new portion to this quest that is not here?

New slave location: Frontier Mtns, goblin mine entrance at approx -1900, +2200. The skull needed for the 6th cudgel from Digialis drops here....in the very back cave here is where they moved the Iksar slaves from Droga. Named as "an enslaved iksar" and an "iksar slave". The enslaved iksar has a crapload of hp and none of my dots landed....ended up letting pet tank him...and he calls for help as you beat his ass... the other one, iksar slave dropped quickly. The quest iksar slave
Digalis, spawns after you kill these two. See post in quest for cudgel 5 about the new location of overseer Dlubish, he is now here too.

Reaching Atheling Plague
# Apr 03 2003 at 11:39 AM Rating: Decent
I have two computers. After failing to reach the top of the Sarnak tower several times, I switched computers. Same character, same buffs, same equipment. On the second computer I could reach the tower consistently. Just to make sure I tried again on the first computer, and as usual didn't make the top. I have not compared the options settings on the two computers to see what differences might be responsible for this. Bottom line though is that there does seem to be a bug somewhere that prevents at least some configurations from reaching the top of the tower.

I am trying to remember having just created the potions... I am almost positive that the Drixie Dust is droppable. I remember thinking that maybe I should have hit all the shops in hoping to find some, though for me the experience wasn't too bad. Only about 50 Drixies before getting dust and no failures on the combines with alchemy skill of 79. I consider myself one of the lucky ones =)

Luck on your quest!

The sarnak dust, mushroom and gorge moss were simple and trivial at 21, but cant seem to get the other half to combine. Please reply if you have the info or send me tell in game please.

I spent two hours yesterday trying to reach that dang tower in BW. Special thanks go to Spiritrend from Bertox for giving encouragement and advice on how to reach it.
For those who are still having problems, stand at loc pos 5552 neg 4246. Point yourself at the tower, give yourself Levitate and Spirit of Cheetah. (I don't think it can be done with Spirit of Scale, at least not by me!) Look up and run straight at the tower and you go right in. If you've any amount of lag at all, turn your clip plane down to 0 or near it. I didn't think I was having lag problems, but couldn't do it till I turned my cp down.
Pull out your pet and buff/med up before starting dialog with Atheling. Attack Doval as soon as he spawns (will be near the small stairs leading up to ledge of tower, behind you if you're facing Atheling) and kill him quickly. He was green at 53, very easy kill with e-bolt and pet. (I threw a frosty one in too just to kill him quicker, but I doubt it's needed). I saw Atheling casting while I was fighting, perhaps he was trying to heal Doval, I'm not sure as Doval went down fast enough for it not to matter.
Good Luck!

I too spent several hours trying to get to the top of that ****ing tower. My husband (iksar monk) made it fine the first time. Then came down and carried my gear for me. Im not sure how I finally got up there but I was completely naked cept for my no drop items that were in an EE bag, I weighed 8 stone using spirit of the cheetah.

I want to know why a monk can make it to the roof of that tower with no problems, when he is fully equipped and carrying all my equipment too.

Good luck to the rest of you trying this quest. Dont give up

No, I don't believe there's a special location for the Sarnak Dragoons. I had several particularly bad strokes of luck with this quest, and I ended up going through three of the helmets.

The first time, I went in to get the skull from the adherent so I could go to Dalnir for the turnin. The adherent was three or four kills down the hall, and the dragoon added while my pet was killing the adherent. I figured I'd kill him and get the helmet while I was there.

Through complications with the Chardok fight, I ended up camping for the night without the second skull. So, the next day I went back to LoIO, with zero luck. Nobody was in the fort, so I killed everything, including the Chancellor. I never saw a dragoon. Finally I was fighting my way back out, and there was a dragoon at the door. I killed him, looted the skull, and went back to the merchant. And, smooth me, I gave the helmet to my pet rather than the merchant.

I went back to the fort and killed another dragoon, he was about 8 kills in.

So it seems like a completely random spawn to me. Usually there are groups in the castle, so just /auc for them to send you a tell if you get one. Between that and killing things yourself, you can probably get one pretty quick.

Just for clarification on the chant rocks ...

Chant rocks are dropped by Stonechanters in Nurga, not Rockchanters as some have reported.
The 3 types are blue (id's as bedrock), green (id's as shale) and tan (id's as slate). The tan colored one is what we need, and is a RARE drop. Got mine just the other day after camping gobies for a combined total of about 12 hours.

I am having a problem with reaching the tower in BW. I have tried it with SoE, and also using levi and SoS, but alas I cannot reach the tower I always miss it. Perhaps if someone could provide me with a LOC they started at, it may help me in completing this part of the quest.

This is how I did it:

You'll notice a ring of white bone-like thing sticking out just below the open part of the tower. If you can't seem to reach the ledge, with lev you can stand on these things. Just run from one to the next, and in the back part of the tower there is an opening that is on the same level as you, just walk right in!

well, i used lev and SoCh. i spent a long time trying to figure it out... you have to go back a fair ways along the zone wall to get to a spot where you can get enough altitude. i went further and further away from the entrance and was certain the information i had was wrong, but you finally get to a point where you can go way up. you'll know it when you get to it. if you're having troubles staying afloat with lev, bank as much stuff as you can before making the flight, i guess.

the coerced channeler spawned for me in about 3 or 4 cycles in the imprecator room, i handed him the potion, he spawned channeler vagnar, and in a minute or two, ran off. i may not have been close enough to hear what he said, or he may not say anything at all, but i heard him casting for a while, killed the other stuff in the room, dumped my puppy, reinvis'd and went looking for him and he must have been killed. regardless...

ok, this is getting really annoying... i started cudgel 6 cos dlubbish isn't popping, now i've got everything i need for cudgel 6 except i have to turn in my xinth potion to the channeler, only... HE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE POPPING EITHER. :( is anyone else trying this part yet and having troubles too? man, i'm working on cudgels 7 and 8 now! i killed thuuga a while back with some friends who were just poking around and noticed him, someone luckily realised the essense was for a cudgel quest and the other shaman (a friend) let me loot it cos he wasn't working on his quests quite yet. i killed xalgoz last night with a monk friend, got my second piece for the HS key and got the necklace i needed. at this rate i'll have all the items i need before i get cudgel 5 done. :( i guess that's not so bad, except that i'd like to see the reward for my work thus far......

Where did you get the Slate Chant Rock? All the posts I've seen about Rockshanters say that they aren't dropping the rock any more. I don't think anyone else is going to try to turn the potion in when we can't even make it. I would love to help find the Coerced Channeler, if you can help me find the Chant Rock.

damn, sorry i didn't notice this reply. i haven't spent any time in nurga 'til today cos dlubish wasn't spawning and i already had my chant rock, but it dropped today while i was camping dlubish, so if it was broke before, it also seems to be fixed.

someone else posted this also, but... um... the dust doesn't seem to drop from the partisans in OT. i camped it an hour or more a day for 5 days or so then finally decided to try FM and it dropped off the first one i killed. it's not called knight dust when you loot it, and looks like succulent sap (only without the stacking number). the loc where i got it is actually around the huge statue atop the mountain at 200n 1300 or so, not 1300n 200n as stated.
also, yes, it takes a long time to get drixie dust. camped that for a while too, and kept getting adds. tried again a week later (today) and got it fairly quickly, luckily.
now if only they'd fix dlubish so i can finish quest 5. :(

I was wondering what the trivial level of alchemy is for all these potions. Is the third potion obtained from combining the two other potions in a grizzly bear skin bag or the alchemy bag?

Thanks for any info.

A Few Notes

A few notes on this quest:
I've been working on this quest for the past couple of days, and noticed a few things that I wish I would have known going into it.

1) When you're fighting Doval do it quick! Atheling Plague will heal him (and i think he also slowed and defuffed my pet but I don't remember). He also gets bored of you after about a minute and teleports you inside Chardok. Luckily my pet stayed and killed Doval before I invised myself to get my ass out of there. If you get teleported you can just run straight out and get back outside then you have to run back up to the top of the tower. I went to loot Doval's corpse, and before I even got to the tower Atheling teleported me again inside Chardok. Once again, I ran to the top of the tower, QUICKLY looted the skull, got teleported again, and then gated back out.

2) When trying to kill the iksar slave in Droga, I camped inside the jails for several hours trying to get the key to open the slave cell. After I finally got it I couldn't get the keys to work. I then found out if you shrink yourself twice, you can run straight through the cell doors! this means you can do this part easily solo. Just invis and shrink yourself, and run straight throught the bars, sit in one of the corners and wait for the right slave to spawn, then kill him. If he's not up you don't have to kill slaves to make him spawn. They automatically despawn after a minute or two and are replaced by the other slave.

3) If you're reading this while you're still on the 5th quest, make sure you save the mushrooms you forage while you're in Nurga for the Xinth.

4) You DO NOT NEED TO CHARM the coerced channeler in Dalnir. Yes, He used to be KOS. I've killed him many times while hunting in Dalnir, and I also read a few post on here saying that he needed to be charmed. Today, I was killing the second floor trying to make him spawn so a chanter could come back down with me to charm him, and to my surprise he conned indifferent to me! After I handed in the potion, he did indeed turn into Vagnar and he gave me the skull but he did NOT turn KOS to me. However, a kly did spawn on top of him at the same time. The kly then buffed up Vagnar, then Vagnar ran away, and the kly began immediately attacking me. Apparently this is a recent change by Verant.

I think the slaves actually despawn every 10 or 12 minutes, but yea, you don't have to kill them.

Anyway, the real reason I'm posting is to share my Doval experience. I didn't attack Doval when he spawned; I hailed him a couple of times thinking he'd aggro me. He despawned in less than a minute, no warning or anything. I petitioned - there were three GM Admin's on, all in cshome - but didn't get any response after 45 minutes of waiting.

So when Doval spawns, attack him immediately. He was no problem for me at 55, which isn't all that surprising. I slowed him and hit him with an e-bolt; he was dead in under a minute.

At long last this line of Cudgel quests has been continued as of the Patch March 7, 2002. Rejoice fellow Scaled Mystics!

You will notice an NPC on the Bridge in East Cabilis named Hierophant Granix. He is as Shaman Trainer and when hailed says, " 'Leave me in peace Cradossk, I have little desire for company now. The Faceless sends visions to me that may hold the fate of our race in sway. '

You ask him, "What Visions?" and he replies, "'The spirits tell me of strange happenings around the ancient city of Charasis. None of the mystics that have been sent to investigate have returned. Something is surely happening in the ancient tombs of that city. I pray to our lord for some way to calm the tortured spirits of our fallen brothers that haunt the Howling Stones. "

You must now gather a force strong enough to fight in the South Wing of Charasis or Howling Stones as it is known. If you aren't aware Charasis is a dungeon in Overthere that requires a key to enter. The key quest info you can find at http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=682. The dungeon requires a solid group of 50's to go very deep in. Kill random mobs until you have aquired one dusty skull and 4 glowing skulls.

Return the Dusty skull to Hierophant Granix and you recieve this message, "Hierophant Granix peers at the skull intently. 'There is strange magic in this skull Cradossk, what ever necromancer animated this skeleton was a powerful warlock indeed. I sense the power of several ancients in this relic. Take this skull to Oracle Qulin in the field of bone, he may be able to perform the ritual which will free this ancient's spirit from the mortal realm. "

You will find an NPC by the shore in Field of Bone named Oracle Qulin. Give him the skull.

Oracle Qulin runs his scaled fingers slowly over the cracked, brittle skull. 'Granix did well to send you to me, I may yet be able to recover the spirit of this ancient and set it free. Come! I shall need your help with this ritual. '
Oracle Qulin dips the skull in the crystal waters. He lifts the skull over his head and stands completely still, allowing the water to drip down off the skull down over his body and finally on to the parched sand. '
Oracle Qulin begins to chant. Quietly at first but then louder and faster. He speaks a language you only vaguely recognize. It is the voice and language of the ancient oracles. His voice booms out over the water filling your mind with images of the ancient Sebilsian empire and the great Iksar rulers of old. '
Oracle Qulin 's voice stops suddenly, leaving the air completely silent. Even the waves seem to have stopped for a moment. You begin to move toward him, but he raises a hand toward you motioning for you to stay still. '
Oracle Qulin says 'Suddenly without warning the skull flies from Quilin's hands and flies into the murky waters. It stays submerged for a moment and then flies toward you, but this time an entire corpse is attached to it.

This spawns an Arisen Iksar who you must kill. He is approximately lvl 50 so you will want a few friends for this depending on your level. Once killed he drops Wet Skull Fragments. Give those to Oracle Qulin

Oracle Qulin says 'It seems this particular ancient does not wish to be put to rest. Return this note to Hierophant Granix and tell him what happened. He will surely wish this skull to be disposed of properly, but I do not have the power to do it myself. '

You return the note to Hierophant Granix. Hierophant Granix says "It is as I feared, the mark of the warlock has surely driven these ancient spirits mad. We can not allow these spirits to roam free in our world Cradossk. Take this case and place the glowing skulls of other ancients inside of it. Return it to me with your Cudgel of the Heirophant so that we may remove these cursed spirits from our world forcefully. "

He gives you an Ornate Skull Case which is a 4 slot combinable container. Put the 4 Glowing Skulls from Charasis in this container and combine them. Then hand in this combined container and your Iron Cudgel of the Heirophant and you receive:

Skyiron Cudgel of the Arisen
Magic Lore No Drop
Slot: Range Primary
Skill: 1H Blunt Atk Delay 24
DMG:10
5 Stamina, 5 Charisma, 10 Wisdom, 5 INT, 30 HP, 20 Mana, 10 SV Disease, 10 SV Magic, 10 SV Poison
Effect: Tainted Breath(Combat)
WT: 4.0 Size: Medium
Class: SHM
Race: BAR TRL OGR IKS VAH

next quest is as follows

After handing in your Hierophant Cudgel and Skull box to Granix he gives you your 7th Cudgel and says,"'You have done well Cradossk. Perhaps you can help clear these troubling dreams from my tired aging mind. Commune with the spirits of our Ancestors and learn from them. Never forget that the ultimate power comes from knowledge. The ancients are privy to much knowledge that mortals will never see. Should you be granted enlightenment from our ancestors, share your knowledge with me so that we may use this knowledge for the benefit of our brethren. I will continue to study the [dreams] that [cloud] my mind. "

When you ask him "What dreams cloud your mind?" he replies, "I see much darkness...darkness and death. A void of life...the cold grip of death. An Ancient pact...with forces too terrible to describe...A great Leader...a fall, and a second coming. I see...a symbol of...an ancient city...Kaesora. I would begin there young Mystic. The spirits of that fallen city may hold a key to our future. "

Go to the ruins outside Kaesora and you will see a new Shaman NPC there, Oracle Vauris. Hail him and he motions for silence. He points at the shifting sands below him without a word.

Go to Kaesora and Kill Xalgoz. He spawns every 20 minutes or so in the Church there and is approximately lvl 48 or so. He's an easy kill for a couple lvl 50 plus. He drops a Shrunken Iksar Skull Necklace. Loot that and give it to Oracle Vauris.

Oracle Vauris takes the necklace from you without a word. He looks into your eyes for a moment. He seems to be searching for something. Apparnetly he finds whatever he was looking for as he pulls an empty bag from his belt. He takes th enecklace and snaps the cord wit his teeth allowing the skulls to fall into the bag. he looks you square in the eyes again and motions for you to put out yoru hand. You do so and almost immediately regret it. Vauris takes the knife from his belt and slices open your forearm allowing your blood to fall into the bag. He uses the cord to tie the bag and hands it back to you. "You now share the mark of Rile, Cradossk. Your fates are intertwined." He then gives you a Bag of Iksar Skull Dust

Ask him, "What Rile?" and he replies, "Have you learned nothing in all your years of service to the hall of Terror? The skulls on that necklace were the bones of the traitorous Iksar who defiled Rile's Relics. Their final moments were spent in Charasis, destroyed by their own dark magics. Rile was the son of the most powerful and terrible [emperor] the Iksar have ever known. Not since the days of Ssrae... 'His voice trails off and his eyes glaze over a bit. You sense that Vauris has been touched by some unmentionable terror. '

If you ask him about Xalgoz, he replies, " 'At last you see Cradossk. The one you speak of is indeed a servant of Rile's father. His presence on this world has disrupted the spirits of the ancients. This disruption must be put to an end. Slaying him will do little good unfortunately. We will have to make use of other powers to truly banish him from this world. If we are to do this we shall need a true relic of Rile, and the soul of his father. Only with these items can we hope to free Rile's soul from the void between death and life. But first there are others that serve the risen emperor that must be destroyed. "

Ask him "what others?" and he says, "The servants of the emperor wear many faces. One in particular is know to wear several himself. Of Serpents and Iksar is his current incarnation, a twisted vision of a dark union. Bring me his essence, for I will need a vessel to siphon the emperor's soul into. Bring me these 3 items along with the pouch of bone dust and we shall see what fate the ancients have chosen for us. '

The Changeling Essense drops from a Named Goblin in the Frontier Mountains by the name of Thuuga Dengibl. He is about lvl 50 in strength and can be found on top of a rock near the Lake of Ill Omen Zone at -2100, -2400

Next you must kill a Named Froglok in the Froglok Village in the Swamp by the name of Kaggy Krup. He is of about the same level as Thuuga is. 3 or 4 50 plus can take him. He is actually up in one of the buildings in the western part of the village. He drops 'Glowing Kunzar Amulet'

The 4th item you need is dropped by Venril Sathir in Karnor's Castle. There are two versions of Venril. One is much tougher than the other. Both drop the Blackened Iksar Bones which you need. These can be master quested so this may be a good way to get the item if you can't easily field a group to take down Venril.

Give Vauris the Changling Essence, Bag of Bone Dust, Glowing Kunzar Amulet, and the Blackened Iksar Bones. Oracle Vauris says 'You have done well Skek. Now it is time for the true test of your clairvoyance. Only a true Scaled mystic will be able to put these spirits to rest. Be warned, these souls will not go quietly into the next world. They have strong ties to this land, and it is these ties we must break. Take them to the City of the Kunzar, the birthplace of the emperor. Only there will you be able to tear asunder the dark rituals that have twisted the souls of our ancient heroes. I will await you in that place Cradossk. " He gives you Iksar Relics NO DROP, LORE.

You now need to head into Charasis again with a decent force. At least a single group of 55 plus from all accounts. In teh South Wing you will find An Iksar Apparition. Give him the Iksar Relics. He immediately turns into Venril Sathir and 4 other mobs - an Arisen Disciple, Priest, Necromancer and Acolyte - aggro you. This battle can be fierce but this version of Venril is not the same as the one in KC thankfully. Venril Sathir drops a Skull of Rile. After you kill these mobs an amiable mob, the Spirit of Rile appears. Give him your Skyiron Cudgel of the Arisen and the Skull of Rile and you get the following message.

The spirit of Rile says 'Use your cudgel to unite my soul with my body Cradossk '
The spirit of Rile begins to shudder and shake, the bones fly from your hands to meet their rightful soul. The spirit and bones being to glow and meld into one another, forming a swirling mass of ethereal energy. Abani begins to mouth incantations in an unfamiliar tongue. Their voice rises ever higher as mystic energy surges through the room. Then, in a suddenly flash, the spirit and corpse disappear without a trace, leaving only Cradossk holding a Faintly glowing Cudgel in his hand.
and the final reward is...

This is a copy of part of the March 7th patch message:

"** A Tale **

Prime Heirophant Vek leaned over and looked into the jeweled case silently. The young mystic behind him nervously fingered the cudgel hanging from his belt. He knew what was coming. The hold of the faceless had firmly taken hold of his heart and was beginning to squeeze.

Vek turned to him quietly and simply said, "Find them." He then walked silently out of the room.

Hierophant Zand turned to the young Mystic, "Do as he has asked. Do not return until you have the skulls of the ancients in your possession." The young Mystic stumbled as he ran out of the room, visibly shaking.

Zand looked down into the empty skull case. Something glittered softly in the corner of the case. Zand reached in and picked up a small earring, emblazoned with the symbol of the Kunzar.

Zand walked quietly out of the room, and somewhere the soul of a dead emperor laughed with unholy malice."

While it could just be a meaningless tale, it does mantion several things which are worth investigating. It seems like the next step is to talk to Vek and Zand in East Cabalis.
But it does sound like it could be a continuation of the quest, it mentions iksar hierophants, a cudgel, and skulls. I don't know maybe I'm just getting my hopes up...

But since they did finally complete Greenmist, and it turned out to have pretty sweet stats, I'm hoping they did finish this line of quests and finally added a decent reward.

Congratulations on finishing this very difficult 6th Quest! I too, have just completed this labor. You post that verant has said that has said they will add another 7th Quest...where did you here this? Have you found the starting point?
As of today, nothing new begins with the completion of the 6th. If ever in doubt, go to http://www.championsofcabilis.com
This is an awesome site for the Iksar (any class)
The following is from The Champions of Cabilis

After you complete the last quest for you Cudgel of the Channeler (and many congrats by the way you are an elite Iksar Shaman by now) you speak to Hierophant Dexl, the other Hierophant.

If he doesn't come back, it's no great loss, he wasn't Hierophant material anyway

He's most likely in the belly of some beast now.

You say, 'What Dragon kin'

Jaxxtz says 'Yes he said he needed to steal secrets from the hated Sarnaks to aid him in his true quest. He said the sarnak know ways to cleanse the mind from intrussion, he would say no more.

There is an Alchemy potion recipe that drops off Sarnak Adherants in the Sarnak Fort in Ill Omen. This ties directly into the text given by Jaxxtz the herb merchant. The recipe is written in Lizardman and when read show's this

OPAL SLUSH OBTAINED
Sarnak Nightdust Sarnak Partisans in Frontier Mountains. Partisans in Overthere do not drop.
Gorge Moss Foraged in Gorge of King Xorbb.
Sponge Mushroom Foraged in Mines of Nurga.

DRISTILATE OBTAINED
Firiona Drixie Dust From Drixie's in Firona Vie.
Stoneleer Emerald Plume Found on Cockatrice's in Overthere.
Slate Chant Rock Found on Goblin Rockchanters in Mines of Nurga. Has a tan colour to it.

Once made the potions will be called "A Potion of Swirling Mists." It is not a drinkable potion, only a potion in name. It is trivial to make with alchemy at around 40.

At this point you will need the help of an Enchanter of at mid-30's level. If you go into Dalnir on the second floor there is a spawn called the Coerced Channeler. He mumbles to himself and if killed screams about a river of Xinth. Once charmed by the enchanter you can give the Coerced Channeler the Potion of Xinth.

Find him. Do not return until your task is complete

In the Temple of Droga in the Jail there you can find the room which spawns Iksar Prisoners. One of the Spawns is an Iksar Slave. There are 2 that look identical but say different things when hailed. You want the one that when hailed gives you this - an iksar slave peers up at you. His face is covered with grime and he shows scars from goblin whips.

By asking Klok Poklon, in the "Upstairs Bar" near the shaman guild , "Who are the Sisters of Scale"...
He responded "Hmm, yes, the Babble around here is that one of the Klok's in the Lake Garrison has one of the Sister's of Scale Skull up for Auction. The Temple will bury him when they hear of it!

Asking around the vendors in Lake of Ill Omen yielded this:

Klok Sargin says 'Looking for the skull I had for sale? I am afraid I sold it to a staunch lizard champion. I would gladly give you his name if you would do me a [slight favor].
You say, 'what slight favor'
Klok Sargin says 'The lake garrison has requested that I work on a helm similar to the ones worn by sarnak dragoons. The problem is.. I need one to examine. You go get me one and I will tell you who purchased the skull.

The Helm is dropped by Sarnak Dragoons in the Sarnak Fort in Lake of Ill Omen. The Helm is NO RENT so run straight back to the garrison and Klok Sargin. Hand him the Helm and you get this:

Klok Sargin appears a little shaken. He has a few bruises on his face. 'Uhh. Thanks. I sort of told the lizard who bought the skull that you were asking for him, and, well, he was kinda mad, and... Cradossk , meet Bruiser"

I will make swamp mush out of them!!

Hand all 3 to him and you get this message:

Hierophant Dexl goes into a trance and speaks with the voice of an ancient. 'You have returned the skulls of the Sisters of Scale. For this you shall be rewarded. Take this hierophant's weapon. May you use it to smite the foes of our people.' Dexl comes out of the trance. 'What?!! Whew. Hey!! Where is my cudgel?'

The reward for this quest is :

Iron Cudgel of the Hierophant

Big updates on this quest. If you charm the Coerced Channeler in Dalnir and hand him the Xinth potion he is replaced by Vagnar. Vagnar gives you a skull then runs off screaming. He's aggro at that point and can be killed. He points you to up high in the place of Burning Pines. In Burning Woods outside Chardok are the 2 guard towers. It's possible to get into the East tower top if you have levitate and scale of the wolf on. You can climb up the side of the mountain and run for it. Inside you meet Atheling Plage. If you say "Give me the Skull of the Sisters of Scale" he starts a dialogue asking for the skull of Digalis. This skull is dropped by the Iksar Slave in Droga who is a Shaman. He's down in the jail and looks like the Monk quest guy but mumbles to himself. Kill him (you take a Cabilis faction hit, weird...) and get the skull. Return to Atheling and he spawns Mystic Doval from the Bar in Cabilis. Doval is a Sarnak Lover and attacks you while Atheling heals him. Easy kill at 51. Doval drops the 2nd skull needed. If you ask Doval back in Cabilis (kinda screwy since you did just kill the guy) about the sisters of scale he tells you one of the skulls is up for sale in the Lake zone. Go to one of the Kloks there and ask about it and he tells you he gave it to a staunch lizard Champion. He can tell you who if you get him a Sarnak Dragoon Helm. Now these aren't dropping but after speaking with GM Aradiel it should be dropping after the patch tomorrow. So there you have it this quest will hopefully be completed within the week.

There is a new line of dialogue when you kill the Coerced Channeler

'As the coerced channeler dies he whispers 'Xinth.....a pool of Xinth'

He's definitely the guy to hand Xinth to but alas I need an enchanter to charm him. Anyone got an enchanter who can help on the Nameless?

Well this seems to have slowed to a halt. A few people, myself included, have Xinth potion. However no one seems to be able to get it together to go to Dalnir. I want to go but need a high level enchanter to help me. I think I can get one this weekend maybe and finish off the coerced channeler idea.

Vagnar
# May 15 2001 at 2:36 PM Rating: Default
still, the coerced iksar (channeler?) in dalnirs looks to me like the most likely candidate. the sarnaks of dalnirs are masters of mind control and seems likely vagnar would go here. has this guy been hailed by his name, Vagnar? in many quests you have to hail mobs whose identity is suspect by the name given to you by the quest giver.
"hail Vagnar"
is anyone trying this?

I'm sorry if this sounds rude, and yes, my iksar shaman is only level 10, but please tell me, is any one trying all the things that people are suggesting? and if you are trying these things, could you please post whether it worked or not?

What book are you talking about? This is a new one to me, I'd love to know more about it. Could be a book for this quest. Giving it to someone could cancel the charm on them. hmm

The book is one of the items required for one of the iksar warrior armor quests (the greaves, i think). It has nothing to do with the cudgel quest. :)
Cleanse mind from intrusion

It is the book from the advicor in sarnak fortress in Lake of Ill Omen. It has the effect of cancel magic, but when it procs it procs on you, it weigh a lot and is generally crappy, cant sell to merchants or anything.
