Progression 2018
# Dec 29 2018 at 1:20 AM Rating: Decent
I came in here at level 80 on a progression server. I am getting 7% per kill and the 76 level focused air pet can tank 4 if needed. I believe the best focus is a 79 air pet from being a raid focus item. I took a 63 mage to 66 pretty quick inside. The best part is mobs hit softer than higher expansion mobs and give no added bonus for killing a harder mob. This is a good zone if you have a box crew or slower because you will get adds and any mage under 63 without a mercenary healer will get owned.Stay on the high rock and pull mobs to you because you have many roaming mobs and they will add to the fight.

Is the 7% at 100% regular experience or 100% AA experience? Also is this from today with the holiday 50% experience bonus?

SK's new to Swarming

Once my SK (2nd main) got mortal coil aa #1 the other sk's in chat informed me to begin swarming in paw to I could get used to doing it. My 75 SK with MC3 is able to clear the entire top area before repops provided your properly geared & mobs are 75% LB / 25% DB (LB needed for mc to go off). My SK is fully Katta vendor raid geared, Fabled everything else. Fabled Gem Encrusted Axe & some fabled shield I looted in PoT2. Best advice for sk's new to swarming, pull 6 tops, wait for mc to go off then go round up 10. Once you get better at it go round up 1/4 of the zone. This is great exp, and good to learn so when you hit the high end mobs you know what your doing. At 75 with MC3 I get 25-27 aa's per LoD. If your PLing anyone or boxing, park them in the back room where there are no spawns.

Best of Luck fellow SK's new to MC.. :) You'll luv it once you learn how to use it properly!!

Hi
easy zone
# Sep 21 2009 at 12:08 AM Rating: Decent
As a 70 ranger with 1120 AA and baz gear, all this zone is easy to fight in.
The only mobs that see through invis are named. The agro radius of mobs are really tiny. I've even put down the boss here just with cleric merc.
Loot is worthless and AA exp is a bit slow, but zone is easy for 68/73 mobs in. A good place to be when i want to play without thinking.

I don't see why there are so many people who rave over the xp in this zone. It really isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be. I've tried leveling here at 60, 65, 70, and 75, and the xp rate is actually slower than if I were to go to somewhere like atiiki, valdeholm, or even PoFire for 60-70. I mean, aside from all of this, its not like there is even any decent drops in the zone that make it at least somewhat worth your while.
rare now very rare?? seems that way

does this zone have double exp?
# Apr 12 2007 at 12:19 AM Rating: Decent
HI, Was just wondering did they make this zone a double exp zone. They say it is now a hot zone. Just wanting to know more about the zone been thinking about going there. What lvl's are the best? Can a group that has a lvl 61 bard, lvl 65 enchanter, 71 cleric, 64 war, 68 druid, and a 62 monk handel this zone.
General news on paw
# Mar 23 2007 at 5:00 PM Rating: Decent
If you are pulling to zi there are two potential wondering mobs. one spawns in the hallway in front of the hallway that ends in two chambers, and the other spawns in the middle of the large room with a door. These two wonderers do not follow a consistent pattern. Sometimes they go all the way to the zi itself and sometimes they turn back earlier. The highest level mob in this section of the dungeon is 69 and the pop time is about 22-24 minutes. There are no named mobs in this section (all dungeon before first doorway) but there are Unmasked Changlings (mobs may turn into an unmasked changling when they reach around 50% hit points. i think this happens about 2% of the time. everytime they drop an augment with 50hp, 50mana, and 60 endurance. no reason to roll for it as many more will drop). There is also a 60, 60, 60, augment that drops via a quest (kill 4 named elementals and loot their globes), but this augment can only be plugged into a #8 slot which many without higher level gear will not have. A bummer to do the quest and not be able to use the augment.

There are a few spots you can pull to that you will be safe from wonderers and pops, but in general they are very few. One of these spots is the large rock in the huge chamber that the rockbeast spawns in (this is also the home of the officer and is called the officer's camp. unfortunately it sucks to have to all cluster on a rock.) There is another spot that you can pull to which is entirely safe (if you see a beastlord named avargon sitting there then you will have found it).

Leveled from 70-75 here and still get good AA experience for several characters. Beasts can solo here with ease and with a pocket wizzie (level 75) smear the elemental peeps.

Bring Crowd Control or Solid Tank
# Dec 07 2006 at 1:50 AM Rating: Decent
Went with 72 cler/67 war two-boxing. Right at the front there are mobs that can't be placated with adds right next to them. Pull, Root, Root, zone like old school splitpaw days. Come back, fight one, rinse, repeat. In my situation I think I could get a lot more xp for my war in PoV. I'm not disappointed in the mobs, just the dungeon layout makes it hard to get one at a time. Bring crowd control.
Paw post 12/5 patch
# Dec 05 2006 at 9:18 PM Rating: Decent
Went poking around here tonight; 67 zerker tanking (8.4k hp, no tenacity), 73 shammy, 70 wiz, botted 71 druid, and myself, 65 bard. None of had been in the new Paw that I'm aware of, so once we broke in a ways, and took up camp in a side room not far from zone, it became an easy camp. Had about 13-14 spawns that we were clearing before repops. Max hit on me was 665 with 1600ac and the zerker was tanking em fine slowed. Can get a random aug drop which is 50/50/50 and lots of gems. In about 2 hrs, we got 3 to drop. Pretty fun overall, very good xp for me, the 70+ said it was pretty good xp, would've been better had we been familiar with zone from the get-go.

Was able to mez the majority of 'em with an occassional resist. They'd beat me up pretty good on some of the pulls, but nothing too dangerous.

Since the last revamp of this place is the Soulfire quest still done in there from Brother Hayle or whatever his name is? Seems kind of messed up if it is.

Actually, Brother Hayle can be found in Southern Karana now. He is under guard by several gnolls by a tree to the west of splitpaw lair:) I will look into the exact location and repost for u at a later date!

Just wondering if any of the mobs up to the door, if it is still there, in the new splitpaw summon? I would like to try it but not if they summon, root, shoot and dot tech does not work to well on summoning mobs.
Question
# Jul 01 2005 at 7:09 PM Rating: Decent
Are the gnolls that used to inhabit Splitpaw anywhere to be found (ala the Cazic-Thule lizards), or are they gone for good?

RE: Question
# Jul 13 2005 at 4:51 AM Rating: Default
Yes, the gnolls that inhabited splitpaw lair now wander around in South Karana, though some of the named mobs seem to be a more rare sight than they were before the revamp.

Well.. Its super hard just to convience people to come here after the revamp... exp is slow and loots are lame... although the quest for +60 mana hp end aug isn't that hard as the parts drop fairly easily and quickly off the appropriate elemental mobs.

This zone needs an exp mod added to make it worth visiting since the revamp.

Tons of adds. At times had 4-5 adds wander into camp. Fast respawn. Some mobs are no mez. Chanter and/or Bard required, and helpful to have off-tanker for the no mez, which also cannot be rooted. I'm a lvl 70 experienced chanter and it was fun...but challenging.

If you go, make sure you have a good group. Experience is a bit shy of PoFire, but the mobs are easier and you can plow. This will be one of my new exp places, as you have the chance for ok drops for bots/alts or if your not geared well and a nice little aug quest 60 hp/mana/endur.

I got like 1.5 - 2 AA in one hour with a lvl 70 grp (pally, bard, cleric, rogue, wizzy, chanter (with a shaman out of grp botted for slows), all with elemental gear or better.

I suggest a wizzy/druid for evac just in case your not ready for the challenge. The adds make this more challenging than RS imo..and I'm a 2+ year 8400 hp, Elemental, Time and GoD geared chanter.

So are there still gnolls or is this zone a new bigger Hole?
RE: Revamped
# Dec 09 2006 at 6:29 AM Rating: Decent
I would say its a much smaller version of the hole, with insane trains still...and when you tick off the wrong mob and get 12 elementals that quad for 600's, thats never a good thing.

from around 29 - 35+ you can do the mobs up to the first set of doors.

Two front mobs are usually lower level, ignore these after about 32 as they light blue.

The next two are slightly higher, if you have no mez / root / lull, you can run past these by hugging the left wall.

The next four mobs are single pullable.

There is one mob in an enclosing to the right, with two small rooms either side, the one on the gnolls right has a single mob (which wont aggro if you pull this one), the room to the gnolls left is empty, and you can run into here to pull the centre gnoll.

You can then pull the gnoll in the small room.

The next two are just past this area, both are in mini enclosing's and are single pullable.

The next three are two by the double doors (higher level than the others), and one in the corner. I dont recommend pulling these as a duo without lull, as you will generally aggro all three, lull the corner and left door gnoll, then pull the right door gnoll, then move to the next door gnoll and then finally the corner.

Be aware there is also a lower level wanderer, who shouldnt bother you after about level 33-34.

Also if a mob runs through the double doors, dont follow it, generally it will get healed then come back WITHOUT friends, of course, not letting them run is preferable.

Thats a total of 12 mobs on 12min respawns or so (I think, dont quote me on this), which should be enough for a duo.

Aggro Spire Guards

I was having a grand time at the spires outside Splitpaw, soloing my Druid by snaring single guards away from the others or Harmonizing pairs. I quickly went from mid lvl 27 to mid 28.
More importantly, I was making a ton of Plat, which I will need to buy the lvl 29 spells!
But, with a bubble and a half to go to make lvl 29, suddenly every time I showed up at the spires 4 or 5 gnolls would gang up on me! Is this a KOS situation? And is there anything I can do to reduce the Aggro? I welcome any suggestions
RE: Aggro Spire Guards
# May 14 2003 at 12:08 PM Rating: Default
You have to watch carefully, sometimes two gnolls pop on the same spawn spot and what you think is a single gnoll is only one. Also, while a few of the outside gnolls are stationary (seems to be one static gnoll per spire), there are at least as many who roam around the outside of the lair. With the spires and the hilly layout of the lair entrance it's easy to miss seeing another gnoll or two behind a spire or on the other side of a rise. A couple of them also run out away from the spires and come back, so check for returning "patrols" before pulling around the spires.

As far as KOS goes, there is no faction on the gnolls, everyone is always KOS to them.

Well, as far as I know everyone is KoS to the inhabitants of Splitpaw, aside from maybe Enchanters using Werewolf form.

Most likely either Harmony didn't stick or you simply had some rotten luck with pops and roamers.

best time ot come here is around 28 or s0...they drop up to 4pp and alot of FS weapons.....as i bring all my char's here 28-35(exp and loot hard to beat) my exp is most pulls will bring1-3 mostly 1 or 2...only trouble is the casters...if ur pulling past the bridge after claering all b4 those then u must have a ench or bard...other than that exp and loot rocks...small trains but rare(healer a must they hit hard for lvl and caster nuke upwards of 200) i think unless changed on 18 min repop time..we usually set up camp in big room past the BR just looking at double doors

RE: GOOD FOR RAIDS?
# Apr 17 2003 at 7:35 AM Rating: Decent
Well we went in this morning (some lvl26-31 Ranger, Paladin, couple of casters (druid and shammy, and cleric I think, and an outsider who I think was a necro in one group) escorted by three level 50+ (Druid, Chanter, Big Tanky Pusscat) to keep an eye on us.

Went very well, XP was awesome. It was handy to have the big guns mezz any overpulls/sudden pops.

Only real problem we had was when the group was split meleeing two mobs, two of those widemouth snakes popped and took out our lower level casters suddenly and frighteningly quickly (they poison pretty well) there was nothing we could do about it.

It's a fun place to raid but not at all easy due to sheer number of mobs.

I hope we go back one day so I can finish Gnollslayer.
GOOD FOR RAID?
# Dec 17 2002 at 5:30 PM Rating: Decent
My guild was thinking of going to this zone and doing a mini-raid. I'd really like to do this so I can get the Spell:Summon Corpse and Robe of Ishva. Getting a full group of late 30's, low 40's players should be no problem. We could also probably get more, maybe another full group of 30's, if needed. Would 1 group be able to handle this zone and the NPC that drops the spells & robe? Thanks
Should we go?

If memory serves, Garou form will make you non KoS, similiar to Elemental form making you non KoS in The Hole.
