At the end of the 6th quest, Garadain Glacierbane mentioned a delicate [mission].

You say, 'What mission?'

Garadain Glacierbane says 'A Coldain... A very important Coldain, has been abducted by the Ry'gorr. He was gathering information that is imperative to our victory over the brainless heathens. You must find him before he is killed and escort him to safety. Return to me with proof that Corbin Blackwell is safe.'

You must find and rescue Corbin Blackwell. Kill Warden Bruke for his Shackle Key (no drop) and then go to Corbin.

You say, 'Hail, Corbin Blackwell'

Corbin Blackwell says 'Hurry! There's not much time. give me the key and show me proof that you are a friend sent to rescue me...'

Give both the key and your Mithril Insignia Ring to Corbin Blackwell. He will make his escape (and give back the ring). You must protect Corbin until he reaches Dobbin Crossaxe.

Along the way, four Ry`Gorr and four giants including Commander Bahreck, a named giant, will attack Corbin.

Corbin Blackwell says 'I thought I was a dwarfskin rug there for a minute! Thank Brell for your help stranger! Now cover me while I make good my escape. I am weakened and cannot endure much more.'

Corbin Blackwell says 'Almost there now, just a bit further...'

Corbin Blackwell says 'Uh oh, looks like they were tipped off somehow... I hope you can handle them.'

Corbin Blackwell says 'I'll hack at your knees 'til you fall down! Out of love for the Dain, for the glory of the crown!'

You must keep him alive.

You have slain Ry`Gorr Basher!
Your faction standing with RyGorr Clan Snow Orcs could not possibly get any worse.
Your faction standing with Citizens of Froststone got better.

Well since I failed miserably at the 8th step during the large battle, I had to do this step again. First time around, the warden showed up after 2 placeholders.

Second time around I am currently waiting on the warden. 6th spawn was the Warden.

On another note, the first time around the warden shouted out for the guards to help him. No guards showed up, nor did I kill any other giants in the area beforehand.

The second time around, 4 un named giants ran from behind me and joined into the fight. 67 warrior unbuffed, left this battle with 65% hp so it wasnt difficult.

When the mobs spawned and attacked Corben, the named giant spawned with 2 orcs in front of us and then behind us, there were 2 giants and 3 more orcs. All grey to me at 67. Corben took 3% dmg in the battle.

Attached is the full dialogue for this quest taken directly from my log file.

Interesting note: when I soloed this, I got a little frantic when I had about 6 Mobs beating up on Corbin at once and started AE nuking them. I thought all went well until they were all dead and Corbin kept pathing out into the ocean until zone edge turned him around then he reversed until he went to other zone edge in ocean and kept pathing back and forth. I tried everything I could think of including aggroing Dobbin and pulling him directly into Corbin's path and then evac-ing out to break aggro. When Corbin's health returned to 100 percent, he then went back and approached Dobbin's hut where Dobbin had returned to just before this. I THINK what happened from looking at my log file, is that my AE nuke aggroed Corbin on me, and he went into flee mode at 20 percent health. When I evac-ed I lost that aggro and he reverted to his normal path when he got full health. (Took forever for him to regen tho). Anyway, it all worked out fine. Unfortunately, I forgot to get Loc's on all the players. They are not hard to find, however and I think others have already listed those.

Best way to get the warden is to shoot him through the window on the side of the building he pops in. he is in the furthest east building int he camp. Pulled him by casting winged death, and proceeded to run back and forth along the north coast of EW. WD does about 10 percent damage per castiong, and he resisted it once. Couldnt snare or root (resisted), but with SoE, Shiedl of Barbs, and regrowth, took himm down easily, jus tnot fast. Never dropped below 70% health, but was getting hit constantly while casting WD. Didnt draw aggro from walruses or Ulthrok while doing so, but did try to avoid them

1st : don't get confused about who to give the ring to. Give it to corbin along with the key to start him walking. Once corbin reaches dobbin and thanks you, you can turn the ring into dobbin to recieve the note. You don't need to wait for dobbin to ask you for the ring.

2nd: you can easily solo this using the pull corbin along the coast to dobbin / clear aggro method. if you're like me and can't mem blur, root him and camp aggro. thats what i did, worked no problem. after getting your note, go invis and (ranger predjudiced) track the enemy commander. follow him, his soldiers, and the orc bashers until the commander strays enough from them to single pull him. when i did so he was right next to the ry'gor fort, and he had under 40% remaining (they'd already wiped garadain's camp... but it only happened once). The soldiers will stay together, so I HoN'd one and pulled the other. Then did the other. I picked them all off this way to let garadain spawn again, cuz otherwise they'll keep killin' him. The orcs were easy marks, i used my ornate pants clicky root to separate one from the group, the others didn't aggro. Picked them off one by one too. Took some running around, and garadain died the one time, but I solo'd the whole 7th ring quest to include the mobs.

Whatever you do...DO NOT GIVE CORBIN THE RING when you get to Dobbin. Corbin Blackwell says 'Hurry! There's not much time, give me the key and show me proof that you are a friend sent to rescue me...' I was Corbin say this and I gave him my ring and he ate it then despawned. This is the exact same phrase ("show me proof that you are a friend") that is used in quest 5. I think it is bogus that they have Corbin say this at the end of the journey.

Just did this quest. Dobbin Crossaxe is bugged. At the end of the quest, two Dobbin Crossaxes will be up. I didn't realize this until it was too late. I turned in the Mithrill Ring to one and got the Note back but not the Adamantium Ring.

I've petitioned and currently waiting for an answer. I love quests, but these type of bugs really annoy me. You'd think after years of this quest being available, this would not happen.

Ignore my previous post. Obviously I was up too late, was too tired, and didn't read the quest correctly. Garadain returns the Adamantium Ring, not Dobbin Crossaxe.

Still there is a bug with that NPC since two of him spawned.

I was playing around with him last night, typically when I tried to pull him out of the building I would have to clear the camp or else the guards would pop on my head.

If you go to the left side of the building and shoot him with an arrow, he will run toward you, the guards will pop in the front of the building and walk back toward where he was. You can draw just him out without killing the camp.

Very high MR but not a real tough mob. If you get into trouble you can drag him to the coldain camp and they will take care of him.

Just did him a few hours ago. Took 3 PH's before he popped. Hm nice "surprise" to have 2 Gurads pop right on my head!! Not only is Warden Bruke extremely MR, both the guards are pretty MR too. (Both guards resisted root and slow, but Blood of Saryn stuck) Eventually I zoned to IC to clear aggro and went back (I had already managed to kill both guards). Once again I found that nothing stuck to Warden even with Malos on him, so just let dog tank him and just threw quiessence in to heal. Warden and Guards hit for max round 120-130 with 1000ish AC. Think I might get some help to finish this ring though!!

OK, he doesn't say THEY ARE UPON US... he says "Uh oh, looks like they were tipped off somehow... I hope you can handle them". This is when the giants and orcs spawn and you need to drag him out of the way.

After you kill all the mobs that chase u down at the ambush Corbin says "Well, you're a bit tougher than I had given you credit for. I owe you my life friend. The camp is right over here."

At camp, Corbin says "I have escaped! With the help of our friends here I was saved from certain death. We are in their debt."

Dobbin Crossaxe says "We thought it was too late, the Dain will be very pleased!"

Upon receiving the ring, Dobbin says "Thank you _____ your deeds will be mentioned to the Dain. Please take this note from Corbin to Garadain, it may help him achieve victory over the enemy."

A monk showed me this a while back, just as the 4 giants spawn attk Garadain, then run in a BIG wide arc avoid the giants, the giants run to where Garadain should have been. run all the way to the encampment(paci does not work). clear agro, i rooted him, camped out, and logged back in and then he said something like AH there is the hut, and walked over and completed the quest.

NOTE : not killing the giants means they wipe out the dwarfs back at the rygorr fort(one is a REALLY long spawn timer) and needed later on. so it works but it sucks all in the same

I would like to mention that if Corbin is rooted out of the way of the giants after the 2nd phrase is said, it takes about two or three minutes for him to regain his composure to continue his journey to Dobbin.

If, however, Corbin is ensnared, then it takes fourteen minutes until snare wears off before he regained his composure to continue his journey to Dobbin.

At first we thought the script got botched, but he eventually started back up again by saying, "oy yeah, the hut is over here" or something to that affect.

How i soloed this as a 65 necro:

I used my Regal band of Bathezid (chardok ring 2, right clic 25pts DS)

buff youself (shield, rune, jboots, ...) summon & buff pet, free corbin, follow him very closely, when he says his 2nd message, right clic ring to activate DS

Now you have to stand ON TOP OF THE DWARF, don't be more than 20ft far from him
When you see the mobs poping, agro them (with ToM or another fast casting spell), agro them all on you so that they eat DS full force (you'll see a spam of 25 non melee damage), heal yourself with ToM (that means chain ToM) you should have the same number of mobs on each side = no moving, try to keep the numers even.

If done right, corbin will get out of it unscathed

Corbin's script requires that he walks his path far enough to say both phrases ("Almost there now..." and "I hope you can handle them"). If you drag him away too early, he'll insist on roaming back to his phrase spots to say them anyway, even if you pull him all the way to the end.

The spawns all rush one certain loc ahead of his path. As long as you aggro Corbin after his second phrase and before he's within aggro range of that certain spot, you're okay.

Note that doing the quest multiple times will result in multiple giant/orc spawns being up at once, including multiple Commander Bahrecks being up. They will then roam back and forth to the orc camp, making a cycle every few minutes, which takes them directly through Garadain's camp. The giants will wipe Garadain's camp every time Garadain himself is spawned. No idea what the despawn time is on the giants/orcs, gave up watching after two Garadain respawns, so we finally wasted them.

Just did this quest for the first time. A few things.

In the prison, hand him the key and your 6th ring. You get the 6th ring back immediately, so you can redo if you fail by just getting another key.

He'll run off, say "we're almost there" then "They're upon us!" the second he says that, if you're an FD or memblur class, run him towards the coastline to the north/northeastish.

You can run him all the way into Dobbin's camp and FD there. The other Dwarves didn't assist him on me.

I FDed him outside the hut about 10 times, even fully clearing aggro once, and he didn't path into the hut. I figured it'd been ninja-nerfed, or I'd screwed something up. I stood there for a while reading posts and stuff to see if anyone else had come across it, and eventually he walked into the hut on his own and chatted with Dobbin.

Took about 3 minutes. After the chat, he stood there again. Do NOT give Dobbin your ring yet. You must wait for Corbin to despawn. Don't worry, it'll take a long time again, but it'll happen. Be patient. Dobbin will ask to see your ring eventually.

Oh, and I found out that using the train and FD method, the mobs that should rush Corbin instead rush Garadain's camp and wipe it out... or it was coincidence, but I saw them all pathing back to their spawnpoints from the camp, showed up and it was all dead. Everybody in zone said they weren't touching the dwarves.

But anyway, easily soloable.

soloed the warden easily with a 56rng...get on side of building to pull him with none of his guard buddies (i used snare) then it's just a matter of kiting him around, went through about 200arrows and kept as many dots as i could land. all in all took about 10min to bring him down

Me ( a Dru 46 ) and my friend a lvl 52 mage thought we kill this guy for fun, and see if he had any loots worth keeping. Killed him once without adds. Only fire landed on him... Pet took a good beating.
Then we decided to take him again, he poped 5 mins later... This time 5 Guards poped out of him and killed my friend and pet in 2 secs. Then they just walked back into camp... I ve started the Ring quest, and luckly i kept the key that droped of him the first time. This is good for xp if you are a group, but not that easy if the Guards get you... Well, we sure did have fun here.
He did drop an ok Femur with Yaulp II as effect...

Sat in jail area for 2 hours and killed everything in sight.. All giants, orcs, etc.. Had 3 groups ready to taken him out and escort Corbin to Dobbin..

I haven't heard of this before.. Has anyone seen this before?

The Place Holder for the Warden is the Single Kromrif Guard in the sheltered structure by the NE corner of the camp/base (approx. LOC is neg 50, pos 50?). I killed PH about 7-8 times (approx. 10min intervals) before Warden finally spawned.

Its a good idea to clear all the Giants before engaging the Warden. Whatever Giants are in the camp when Warden is attacked, seem to immediately appear at his side to assist him.

Attacked him twice today. First time with camp cleared and we only got one Giant Add part way through the fight (possibly a respawn?)...an easy kill for 60Pally, 55Druid, 52Ranger, 51Cleric.

A short while later, we noticed Warden was up again so we attacked him a second time, not bothering to clear the camp of other Giants (over-confident from the easy first battle). Immediately upon engaging Warden, 4 Kromrif Guards pop'd to assist him ...we were unable to land one snare/root the entire battle and after our cleric was at 10% health, we trained the 4 Giants and the Warden to the Coldain camp where the Dorfs finished them all off...no Key the second time.

I soloed this guy with a strategy of mine ). Go on the side of him and pull with snare ( thats what i did ) so you dont agro the 3 giants that spawn ( but Warden keeps resisting snare ). Kite him while heading to nearest Coldain camp. the coldains will agro on him and start attacking. keep kiting him around while coldain beat on him. after he has around 1.5 bubs left run far away, like to other side of zone. the coldains will be to far to make him poof.(i got to bridge, thought i was lucky ). then you have your key! =).

So when Corbin reaches Dobbin Crossaxe, and he blabs on about saving him, you give the ring (6th) to Corbin or Dobbin?? I dont wanna mix this up, cuz i can solo the second part, if i can only get the keys!

These quests are a lot of fun. I"ve done up to the 7th with just a 52 Bard, 55 Monk (kos) and 60 Cleric (kos). A lot of people can do them solo too.

8th ring is not much harder, I will just need someone who can cast invis.

When i petitioned i was told that Dobbin Crossaxe has nothing to do with this quest and that he is the WRONG NPC!!! I am being made to return the head of the frost giant Commander just to get ring 6 back!!!

Maybe you have to wait for Dobbin to say something, THEN give your ring to him. I accidently gave mine to Corbin =(. But im on 5th ring again and quickly moving up.

Friend told me when Corbin gets to Dobbin, wait for him to dispawn then give ring to Dobbin. Not sure about this tho.

This quest was done last night, by a 56 Pally, 42 Druid, 51 Cleric (they concentrated on Corbin and the Ry'Gorr) and myself a 43 Bard. Aggroed the Giants and ran them to IC Bridge area. Decided I needed exp and Charm kitied the lot. Very easy although used all my mana and had to DoT the Commander. After fight even dinged 44 woohoo

Just soled the dwarf rescue part as a pally.Was really easy,I turned my key+ring to the dorf and he began walking.When we were close to Dobbin camp,the giant commander shouted something so I taunted the dorf,I dragged him to the north (to the shore not far from Utree).Then,I rooted him,I logged to clear aggro,and when I came back he was on his way to Dobbin camp again.Gave ring to Cobbin and turned note to Garadain.Was ultra easy and u can solo it if u got FD,root or mem blur.

Killed Warden Bruke with a 55 cleric a 40 bard and I,60 pally.They were at bridge in case I'll get a train and after having read all the posts I was a bit anxious.But not only I single pulled him (!),with stun (!),to the bridge but he didn't even gate (!).I'm pretty sure I can even solo him (conned light blue).Now I'm off to try 2nd part of quest :)

Ok, everything ran smooth (doing this solo) until Corbin got to Dobbin's hut. I'm kos to dwarves so I feigned a little early. Corbin did his "you tuffer than I imagined" line then walked to Dobbin's hut.

Wanting to get into position to hear the next text I hit sneak and stood but had failed at mem wipping Corbin so he reaggrod and came back after me. I promptly fd again and Corbin depopped.

Having read the other text in this post I positioned myself near Dobbin and waited the 10 minutes for the "Show me proof" line. It never came. I waited 20 minutes. Nothing.

I had just resigned myself to doing this portion of the quest again when a second Dobbin spawned! I thought maybe this was because the existing one had respawned and was the one that would give the note. I took a leap of faith and gave him my ring.

The sound of exp, and a note! WOOOOT!

Warden Bruke seems to do that insta-gate thing EVERY time to me when he gets low enough on life to run. I've had the 30-giant spawn thing happen to me a couple of times now. It lags the whole zone.

If you need to kite him solo, just make sure to keep another giant alive and near him when he gets low. That way he never turns to run and will keep chasing you until he dies.

The giants he spawns (Kromriff Soldiers) are very magic resistant. Fire-based DoT stuck every time, but could neither chain(snare) or charm them once. If left alone long enough they WILL despawn automatically.

Tonight I got my 7th Insignia ring. We had myself 53 ranger , 50 cleric and 54 Ranger. 54 Ranger (Selesr) Kited off all the Gaints. I ran in and aggro'ed the Orcs. Let me say there is more than 4 of them.. more like 6-8. Selesr snared all the giants and then helped with the Orc Bashers. Once all the Orcs were snared and rooted Corbin kept aggro'ing them so Cleric just Atoned (Memory wipe) him. After the Atone he just went on his way to Dobbin safely. We just kept the Orcs and Giants away from him and rooted. He got there safely and I turned in my ring and got the note to give Garadain. Turned note in and got my 7ac +7str +7sv mag ring...

And who says Rangers suck... LOL to all who say you need 1-2 full groups... Just get 2 Rangers =)

BTW Cleric didn't have to heal either of us until we decided to finish off the mobs for fun and exp.

I just did this quest with only the help of a cleric for Warden fight. I'm a 56 Sk. It took me a total of about 15 minutes.

I pulled the Warden behind the hut and started whooping on him and the cleric kept me alive. I've killed him twice so far and he never gated on me. Looted the key.

Pulled the guards and interrigator to clear area and then turned in key and ring to Corbin. He then starts off on his walk. I stayed close to him and followed along, had him on target the entire time.

He gives you a hint about when ambush comes by saying "we are almost there." About 15 seconds after that he says "they are on us" yada yada. Like the others have said, as soon as i saw him speak I attacked and ran back from where we came. Nothing agro'd us and I led him over to the Dobbin hut. When I got close to it I simply FD'd and cleared agro.

I stood up and waited for him to say the "you are braver than i thought, you have saved me" message. He then walked into the hut and talked to Dobbin. After about 10 seconds he poofed and Dobbin asked for proof. Gave him ring and he gave me a note to take back to Garadain. Handed the note to Garadain and he gave me the 7th ring.

Then we chased down the giants from the ambush and slaughtered them... hey, they were blue! /grin

Well, I just completed this step of the ring quest solo and it was astoundingly simple.

When you take down Warden Bruke three giants spawn around the front of his hut as soon as you attack him. So don't attack him while standing at the front of the hut! Instead, target him and run around the back of the hut and cast something on him. The giants will spawn around the front, he'll run out the back and will not agro any of them. Result: 1 key.

Clear out the Kromrif Prison Guards, the RyGor Prison Guards and the Interrogator of RyGor to get to Corbin. Hand him the key and follow him. He'll walk a little way and will shout soemthign like "They are upon us" when the 4 orc, 4 giants and the commander spawns. IMMEDIATELY attack Corbin to agro him and run him towards the ocean. The giants and orcs will be too far away to agro and Corbin will come hairing after you. Run him back a bit towards the prison then double back and run to Dobbin leaving him behind and camp to clear agro. When you log back in, if you have done it correctly, Corbin should have regained his senses and will be wandering towards Dobbin. Wait until Corbin despawns and Dobbin asks you for your ring. Et voila! Quest completed.

One word of warning though, the giants and orcs you just spawned will not just vanish. They start to head towards the Rygor fort front entrance. I was not aware of this when I did the quest. Neither were the poor saps camping the fort. Two groups of peeps in the forties were annihilated by the returning giants and orcs. Sorry lads. 8)

This is the first really hard quest in the coldain ring series. First you have to camp the Warden. He drops shackle keys. Then you clear the 2 giant prison gaurds and the 3 orcs and then talk to Corbin. You give him the shackle keys, show him ring, then he starts walking to Garadain's camp. Then he gets ambushed by 8 mobs (4 orcs + 4 giants.) I watched as a full group of level 60s did it with ease. They were: 1 ranger, 2 warriors, 1 enchanter, 1 cleric, and 1 druid. The enchanter mezzed the 4 orcs. The ranger and druid each took a giant and snare kited them away. The 2 warriors dealt with the 2 other giants with the cleric healing them. They also buffed Corbin prior to the fight (you have to make him a pet first, then buff, then mem blur.)

Well, let me say this. To do this with no fear of losing a peep, you'll need 2 enchs and 2 healers, plus tanks. One MOB (Commander and 2 orcs) come from the left and ahead of Corbin. Second MOB (1 orc and 2 giants) comes from the right and ahead of Corbin. Last MOB (1 orc and 2 gaints) comes from the far right. You need to make sure each group takes out a certain MOB. The Orcs can be mezzed, but the Giants cant. Enchs can charm 2 giants and beat up on the Commander to keep him busy. But watch out when the charm breaks. Thus the tanks need to kill the other 2 giants quickly before the charms break. Then concentrate on the Commander. Enchs will have to restore there mezzes. Watch out for Corbin he'll attack as well which can break mez. One group will have a very hard time with this part of the quest. Believe me, I need to spawn the Warden again.

I'm guessing that Corbin needs to reach the loc in front of Dobbin, and isn't really going TO Dobbin, but what may work, is have a monk pull Corbin around the mess of giants and orcs to Dobbin, being that they too are also probably heading to a set loc, and not really chasing after Corbin till they get within agro range.. now if they spawn in agro range that would be trouble,
could be wrong, but I may try it when I get up to this ring, since you really lose nothing but the shackel key if you fail, and the warden isn't too hard to kill

hmm another idea, have someone charm him right after you start, sow him, break charm, mem blur, and hope him moving faster helps a bit :)

This works well, although there's a catch. Have any class that can Feign Death follow Corbin closely. You must wait until the giants and orcs spawn, and then agro Corbin and run him away towards the destination (east) out of agro range of the charging orcs and giants. (If you try to do this before the giants and orcs spawn, it won't work; Corbin will walk back to the spot after you Feign Death, and then the giants and orcs will spawn.) Once you have Corbin out of danger, Feign Death and Corbin will walk the rest of the way to the dwarf huts and you can complete the quest.

be careful is a trap , when you attack warden 3 other giants pop infront of him the 4 of them canot be snared or rooted by a 60 druid and a 60 shaman cant land spells on them , you will need a large meelee force to do this next part

Yup, What I did was I got DMF.. Walked up on top of the ruin that Warden Bruke spawned in & shot him with an arrow. Then I ran behind the ruin to pull him solo there.

Once you attack him 4 38th level guards will spawn in front of the ruin, stand around for 5 seconds.. then walk inside.. if you get Bruke out of the way fast enough they wont follow.
