You say, 'Hail, Sir Hobble'

Sir Hobble holds a cracked monocle up to his squinting eye. 'I say!! A talking bear!! Squire Fuzzmin, come and take a gander at this rare find! The wonders never cease in the land of Kunark!!'

You say, 'Hail, Squire Fuzzmin'

Squire Fuzzmin awakens from a quick shuteye. 'Yawn.. Oh!! Hello. Don't mind the rusty old tin can. Sir Hobble is on a [quest] of sorts. I tell you, I would leave if he did not pay such good wages to carry his equipment.

You say, 'What quest is Sir Hobble on?'

Squire Fuzzmin says 'Sir Hobble is searching for [three special dragons]. For all I know, they're not even dragons. He can't see or hear very well. He still thinks I am the only troll squire around.'

Sir Hobble tries to slash a drachnid webstrander, but misses!

You say, 'What three special dragons?'

Squire Fuzzmin says 'Apparently he is after three dragons which are supposedly named Azdalin, Gylton and Xyfl. He will not rest until he holds their scales. I wish you could [find the dragons].'

You say, 'I will find the dragons'

Squire Fuzzmin says 'If you bring me three scales I will be able to place them upon the next three victims of Sir Hobble. Then we can depart from this accursed isle. He would never know the difference. Do this and I will give you a warrior weapon out of the old knight's armory.'

Get the first two scales from the named wurms in the Burning Woods, Azdalin and Gylton.

For the third scale, you'll have some running around to do. Begin by giving two Carnelians to Tektite, a gargoyle guard in The Overthere:

Tektite takes one hand and pries out one of his eyes, which he casts far into the plains. He then places the carnelian into his eye socket. He turns towards you and holds open his palm.

Tektite pries out his other eye and places the second carnelian gem in its place. His eyes burn brightly with scarlet fire. He then hands you a fragment of Tektite.

(In the alternative, you can kill him to get the Tektite.)

Then take the Tektite to the Temple of Solusek Ro and find Lord Lyfyx of Burwood.

You say, 'Hail, Lord Lyfyx of Burwood'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood bows as a courtesy. His face gleams as if tinged with red. 'Greetings, my friend. Welcome to the Temple of Ro, sanctuary to those who follow the words of the Burning Prince.'

You say, 'What Burning Prince?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood closes his eyes and shakes his head in sorrow. 'Far away and better forgotten.'

You say, 'Who is Doowrub fo Xyfyl Drol?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood says 'So you can pronounce my name backwards.. Is that your lot in life? Pronouncing names backwards? Be gone with your silliness! We need no court fool.'

You say, 'What is the Temple of Ro?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood closes his eyes and shakes his head in sorrow. 'Far away and better forgotten.'

You say, 'What about dragon scales?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood says 'Tektite and peridot shall get you what you desire.'

Hand him the Tektite and a Peridot.

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood places the gems inside an ornate metal box. He begins to tug at his skin. Your vision blurs as he performs his magic. 'This is what you seek. Now leave and bother me no further.'

Your faction standing with Temple Of Sol Ro got better.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men got worse.
You gain experience!!

Head back to Squire Fuzzmin in Firiona Vie:

You say, 'Hail, Squire Fuzzmin'

Squire Fuzzmin awakens from a quick shuteye. 'Yawn.. Oh!! Hello. Don't mind the rusty old tin can. Sir Hobble is on a [quest] of sorts. I tell you, I would leave if he did not pay such good wages to carry his equipment.

I don't say anything cause I'm diggin in my bags for the scales, and he goes on to say this, twice in a row:

Squire Fuzzmin says 'I need the three dragon scales of Azdalin, Gylton and Xyfyl.'

Squire Fuzzmin tumbles around and stands on his hands. With his feet, he pulls a long polearm from a nearby weapons cache. 'Woohoo!! I can taste the brew in Freeport already. Here you are, my friend. A real Wurmslayer!!'

Your faction standing with Inhabitants of Firiona Vie got better.
Your faction standing with Emerald Warriors got better.
Your faction standing with Storm Guard got better.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got worse.
Your faction standing with Pirates Of Gunthak got worse.
You gain experience!!

I rather enjoyed his RP talk, being somewhat of a role-player myself. It was fun trying to make sense of it. What I don't understand is, why is a 57 Woodelf Druid talking like an Ogre or Troll?

Name of scales?
# Sep 07 2001 at 2:38 PM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know exactly what the three scales are called? I know there are regular dragon scales, as well as the quest scales, that can drop, so I want to make sure I have the right one. I killed Gylton, and looted something called "Dragon Scales." It was Lore, but the name of the item was pretty general. When I cast Identify on it, it said "Item Lore: Gylton," so I'm torn. If anyone knows, please respond. Thanks! Good hunting! :)

I've completed the Wurmslayer quest once, and have but one scale remaining (the elusive Azdalin) for twice.

Squire Fuzzmin spawns once you hail Sir Hobble. Sir Hobble is a rare spawn, who seems to start somewhere in Firiona Vie (not necessarily, in fact, rarely if ever, the town), and begins trekking around. Unless you are extremely lucky, you will need a tracker with you to help find him. It's said that you can kill goblin battlemasters, as they are his placeholder, however, in my experience, this is only true about half of the time. Sometimes it works (or was that just random ironic luck?), sometimes it doesn't. Anyway, as Hobble treks, he is under assault by whatever creatures around him which are aggro to him, and in FV, that's just about everything. You cannot slow him down, you cannot stop him, you can only hail him, which is all you need to do anyway. Once he's been hailed, hail him again. And again, and again. Until you are sick of hailing him. Meanwhile, have your tracker now start tracking for Squire Fuzzmin.

Like Hobble, Fuzzmin pops *somewhere* in FV, and like Hobble, he's almost immediately under assault by denizens such as the drachnids. Fuzz is on the move as well, and you need to pursue him very quickly, lest he'll fall prey to the monsters. HOWEVER, the one time I did complete this quest, Fuzzmin popped in Firiona Vie, behind a building, and he was stationary. That was nice.

Once you've found Fuzz, hand him the three scales and voila >>wurmslayer<< which *IS* a fantastic weapon.

This weapon does mighty damage and thus draws some pretty major aggro, but as a Ranger with Jolt, I find it a treat to use. When hasted, and with Lammie in my secondary hand, I'm a machine.

In any case, I hope this answers your question. Good luck in your wurmslayer quests.

I don't have any idea why you would use a lammy in your offhand. That totally defeats the purpose of having it. There are many offhand weapons that can be had for much less than a lammy that have a higher damage(berserker sword and blackened alloy longsword to name a few) Stop trying to impress people by saying that you have a lammy when its obvious that you don't know how to use one. Sell the wurmy, get a nice haste item and put that lammy in primary where it belongs. You will do more damage faster, lose the 15 stones of a wurmy and keep that stamina bar from draining.

The quest could be gone by your guild. the dragons are like 45+ (i think) and the lammy drops in old seb, i think from memory.... and costs like 8 - 10k (Is that right? might not be)

The wurms are more likely 45-, killed them several times, Azdalin x3, Gylton x2, every time they were blue at 45. They are bad asses though, need a full group to take them down.

I have a quick question. Is it possible for a level 10 warrior to complete this quest if he has some people help him out? I am just curious because i dream about owning a wurmslayer. :) I had a decent character on a friend's account (23 pally)before he got deleted. So i have to start over. anyway, let me know what i can do. TommyBoy71@aol.com

I reckon if your level 10 warrior is accompanied by several level 30+ for the wilds of Firiona (and those nasty drachnids), you could hail the necessary guys (Hobble and Fuzzmin) to turn in the scales. You can not really hope to acquire the two scales that come off of the wurms, as they are high level 40 mobs. Each requires a pretty adequate group to take down. As for the third scale,

"The third scale is found by talking to Lord Lyxfl of Burwood (apparantly the alternate form of the wurm Xyfl) in the Temple of Solusek Ro. He wants a piece of tektite and a peridot. Tektite is a gargoyle located in The Overthere. Hand him two carnelians (or kill him) and you will get a piece of Tektite. You can also kill him for the scale, but you should bring a good group. It is also said that Xyfl sometimes appears in Wurm form in the Burning woods and can be killed there for the scale."

I suppose you could do this part on your own with some craftiness.

How low is too low? I suppose anything less than it takes to group and kill the wurms Azdalin and Gylton. Low 40's, *maybe* high 30's if the rest of your group is nice and high. (and nice and high)
Squire Fuzzmin Made Easy
# Sep 02 2001 at 11:03 AM Rating: Excellent
Here's what our guild did and it worked 5 times in a row...

Get the scales. There's plenty of info above on how to get them so I'm not going to waste any space on that part. Getting Sir Hobble to spawn and his flunki, Squire Fuzzmin, was a bit more challenging. But here's what we did and it worked every time.

You need someone who can track, someone who can root, and one other. It is possible to do it with fewer than three people, but it's a lot easier if you have atleast 3. We did it with 2 druids and a warrior. It is also advisable that all members in the group be level 45 or higher. Send one of the group into Firiona's "bar room". That's the hut with Lenka the barbarain barfly and her ogre buddy. It's also where you buy the bard songs and brewer supplies. Hail Lenka to get her attention. Say to her "I want to see something interesting" and she will show you a blade and stuff. Keep that phrase on your shift-up-arrow cuz you'll need it.

The other two members (one of them with tracking) start looking for Goblin Battlemasters and kill them. As soon as you kill one, start spamming Lenka with "I want to see something interesting". The tracker should be tracking constantly. The battlemasters are PHs for hobble, but he only spawns if someone is talking to the barfly.

Track Sir Hobble, Hail him, and then root him. Squire Fuzzmin will make his way to Sir Hobble. You may have to track the squire and protect him, but he won't stop once you hail Sir Hobble. It is also possible to NOT hail Sir Hobble if you can find Squire Fuzzmin on tracking. He will stand at his spawn point until Hobble is hailed.

Once you root Hobble, he will not respond to further attempts to hail until the person in the group who attacked him (with root) camps or gates out. When Squire Fuzzmin arrives give him all three scales.

Fuzzmin did not agro on the person who rooted Hobble, but our rooter/tracker was a 49 druid and that may be the reason. So you might get mixed agro results depending on the level of the person rooting.

We did this 5 times in a row and it worked every time. Spamming Lenka in the bar room is the trigger, but the battlemasters must be killed first.

Easy!
:)

G'day! Jus did this quest so I thought I'd give my 2cp. To get my wurmy, I collected all the info from this site, so I'll put it in one post now.

1) Take two carnelians to Tektite near the OT outpost. Have to be evil race. I used a friends enc, but you have to be agnostic. Take the tektite and a peridot to Lord Lyfyx of Burwood. This dude is in Temple of Ro, a stones throw from the druid rings...loc is 1291 283. He'll give ya a scale.

2)Azdalin. This guy has a mean placeholder, who goes by the name of gullerback. Blue at lvl 51 I think. He hits mighty hard, and has 100% MR. Azdalin spawns after him. Kill him and gt his scale.

3)Gylton. No place holder for this dude, wanders near he fort I think. Once you finish killing him, be careful coz you'll get lotsa adds.

4)Sir Hobble. This is one tough dude to find. He was in the north of the zone. I was lucky enough to find him as he spawned, in a little clearing with a few rocks and stuff, no trees. If you find him a little bit after, he will be trying to kill spiders and the like, and seeing as he's blue to me at 40, he doesn't last very long. Hail him a few times coz he don't reply straight away, and jus follow him. Squire fuzzmin will be along soon after you do. They don't stop when hailed, so you have to hand the scales in while following them. Awkward coz they don't run so you have to keep stopping. Bang you'll have your wurmy! I love it truely!!

Definately not the greatest wep in the game, but its something that one should own, coz it does kick. Even Rangers can give stm out so you don't have to worry bout that. Ne who! long post! Hope this info helps ya!

My experience with WS quest...
# Aug 16 2001 at 12:29 PM Rating: Decent
Okay... at level 35 my Ghoulbane which I also quested for was getting pretty weak. Every person I saw had a better 1hs, so I decided it was time for me to get my Wurmslayer! First, I made a darky mule and ran him to OT, begged for some cash, bought 2 carnelians and a peridot, gave Tektite the carnelians, boom, Tektite. I bring that and the peridot to Lord Lyxl of Burwood or whatever, X scale, finished.

Then I was soloing crazed goblins in BB when I heard someone auctioning, "Selling G scale." I snapped it up for a nice 200pp. G scale, finished.

The A scale was the tricky one, I went to Gfay, I went to BW, I finally just got plain lucky when a nice gal by the name of Lysette sold me it for 1kpp. A scale, finished.

The tricky part is finding Hobble. I went to FV and hailed Lenka in the bar, checked the East part of the zone awhile. I did this about 4 times with no results, so I finally hired a tracker. He was a 47 ranger by the name of Cereston, and he had nothing on track. We killed a lot of goblins, hoping that would spawn him, and after about 15 minutes of killing goblins and anything in our paths, he appeared on track in the East part of the zone. We rushed over there and found Hobble fighting 2 drolvargs. The ranger and I both taunted the drolvargs off Hobble, and he finished them in a timely fashion. More drolvargs came, more drolvargs died (very simple for any tank 35+) and after about 2 or 3 minutes the little guy showed up. I didn't say any lines, just gave him the scales, and my brand new shiny Wurmslayer gleamed in my hand. Wurmslayer, finished.
