FIRIONA VIE: At one time, Firiona Vie was the site of a picturesque city. An allegiance of Faydwer inhabitants, including the Emerald Warriors and Storm Guard, established themselves here, setting up vendor shops, a guild hall, and provided a safe haven for those adventuring in to the volatile lands of Kunark. Since then, a war raged on between the forces of Firiona Vie and Lanys T`Vyl, and the alliance of Venril Sathir took over the once-flourishing outpost of Firiona. The elves of Firiona were evacuated out of their outpost and set up a makeshift establishment in the east, while the dragoons and cliff golems took over their former city.

Outside the city boundaries lies a stretch of land full of highly aggressive creatures. Young adventurers travelling to the Lake of Ill Omen will know all-to-well the dangers presented by the Mistmoore drachnids which are found along the path and stream reaching out from the city. There are also the drolvargs, a superbreed of gnolls which roam the forest and occupy an abandonned tomb in the east. And there are many creatures native to Kunark, such as the Kromdul forest giants, goblins, frenzied leeches, and the occasional froglok.

Neither the Venril Sathir alliance, nor the Inhabitants of Firiona Vie will tolerate any perceived threat from the creatures of Kunark. City boundaries are well-patrolled, and any intruders posing a threat to their people or their outposts are swarmed, attacked, and dispatched with relative ease.

looking for these two from the "Free the Nurgan Slaves" quest.

saw a post on allah's about a gm enigmatically stating they're still in-game but were moved when outpost was taken over. no mention or hint of WHERE they were moved.

of course SOE would do this--they're two of 3 quest givers who return decent ALL/ALL gear.

/sigh

anyone seen this duo?

There is a camp of three forest giants near the zone to Swamp of no hope. These can be taken down by a few low 30's or soloed by high 30's , but id wait till 40 or so to solo. there is a good chance for nice loot here and the spawn rate is fast enough to make good exp even if you go solo. Ive made 1000pp in a short time here before , but sometimes they dont drop quite frequently so its hit or miss. this is the best place to hunt in the zone imho.

I found an NPC on the dock of FV near the shore, his name is Noilgin Mindtune and he is holding a Lute. Our conversation went liek this:

You say, 'Hail, Noilgin Mindtune'
Noilgin Mindtune says 'Hello there, [your name], I hope you are enjoying your visit to the outpost. I know I sure am.'

I couldn't figure out any trigger words (and I tried plenty), and he was light blue at 46, so I tried to kill him which proved impossible, he was immune to all the songs I cast on him and melee damage didn't take his hps down. If anyone has info on this guy about possible quests, or whatever I would appreciate it.

Question on faction

5 posts
I have various characters, mostly good races : Vah's, halflings, frogloks. I have a couple dark elves though - both are agnostic. 1 happens to be an enchanter...

the question (2 part) is.. is there any way for my agnostic dark elves to raise their factions with FV enough to go inside safely or will they always be KoS? Also, as for the enchanter's illusions..such as human, high elf, etc, would they give protection or still be KoS?
RE: Question on faction
# Apr 28 2003 at 12:46 PM Rating: Excellent
If you are agonostic, your illusions will proctect your Dark Elf.

I have NEVER seen an evil race walking though FV. However, there are quests you can do, turning in Drolvarg Canines comes to mind, that raise FV faction. If your DE went in under illusion and did that quest, it would help, but I suspect it would never be enough for them to get over you blue skin and nasty disposition ;-)

Hi, all.

I have discovered FV as a great place to lvl...not a lot of ppl and so on. I am hunting there now with a partner, but I just made a lvl and wanted to train (misunderstood specialisation and didn't put any points in the other specialisation choices), but I can't seem to find a shaman trainer in FV. Is this for real? I mean, they have a beastlord trainer and all...I thought I'd heard about a shaman trainer being there...can there really be a trainer there for pretty much every class (actually, I don't remember seeing one for monks either) and not for Shaman?
Does anyone know exactly where all the shaman (barb friendly) trainers are? I'm thinking Halas and Luclin and Plane of Knowledge...that it?

Thanks!

RE: Shaman Trainer?
# Mar 15 2003 at 9:43 PM Rating: Good
They are in one of the houses by the dock where the boat comes. If you are going from the bank to the boat, it's the first house on the left, where they sell the alchemy herbs and shaman spells.

They are barbarians.

Halas, the barb trainer is outside the Tribunal temple, in the west side of town.

Luclin, Shadowhaven, the shaman trainer is downstairs in the "tree room". You have to go to the big building near the port-in from the nexus and hop onto the port pad inside the building to get down there, and click the tree to get back out.

All of the above are barbarians.

Shar Vahl, I think he's downstairs in the king's castle.

That one's a cat.

Hope it helps, WWW.EQATLAS.COM is really the best place for more specific location info.

Thanks for the info...I rechecked the atlas map and site and don't see one...I was positive there was a shaman trainer, though...so I guess my mind was telling my eyes they were crazy :)
I did find Barbs on/at the docks, but none of them were shaman trainers...just merchants and an npc quest guy... I'll look again. Thanx.

I've had my lvl 33 warrior soloing drovargs here for a few nights. I don't understand why this zone is so... unused. At any time there have been 13-15 pc's in zone but trying to put a group together or trying to get a partner to hunt with here has been impossible. I think the xp in this zone is great. If your on the Innoruk server and want to group in Firiona vie for the next few weeks, send a tell to Tolwe.

Whoever the dude is saying that his Iksar strolls down FV lane is a LIAR. PERIOD. I have 2 Iksar characters and MAXED THEM IN FV FACTION.. IN EXAMPLE: YOUR FACTION WITH FIRIONA VIE COULD NOT POSSIBLY GET ANY BETTER. Guess what Nimrod, your race and deity can never be accepted there due to the history of FV. Iksars were never meant to be allowed to roam in FV and they never will. Go to some of the forums and check it for yourselves...or better yet, do As I did. pair up rour Iksars and hunt green goblins until you are crazy. I killed a minimum of 2200 and that's when I stopped counting. If any Iksar tells you he can walk through FV. MAKE HIM PROVE IT. It can't be done. Period, ever, end of story....unless EQ changes the make-up of the Kunark setting in the future.

"Oh, and by the way....my Enchanter can't use Iksar form there either....with maxed faction.

This is a good zone for level 40 players to solo Drolvargs to level up to 44. You can also do well with the Drachnids if you have a partner or two as they will train you in nothing flat. I have been trying to do the goblin raider and battlemaster quests for two weeks now and have killed several of each resulting in only 3 headbands and 1 bracer. I'm not sure that these quests are worth the time as you only get Elven mail armor. Overall I like the zone because it is not overcrowded, 19 PCs are all I've seen here at one time.

I am Lvl 30 DE SK. I make the trip from BB to FV on a regular basis. There have been several mishaps with the boat and guards, as I am VERY KOS in FV. As most of us Darkies are. As for anyone that is going to LoIO from FV the safest way is once the boat docks, just get wet and swim. It won't hurt a bit. Don't be afraid of the water. At lvl 30 I am maxed at 150 on swimming. It is almost as fast as walking or running. Anyway swim towards the zone, keeping close to the statue and docks, but not too close for us Dark races. Oh well, hit the zone line and keep the zone line on your left and run keeping as high as possible. I have made this trip as I said numerous times, with out being attacked by spiders or anything else. Just be careful if you are a Darkie around the guards stay clear. That is the best way I have found to get from FV to LoIO Good luck and thought I would give my 2cp for what it is worth.

One thing I have noticed is that FV is nearly always used as a resupply point for good races and nothing else. There is some awefully good hunting here for level 25-40. For some reason, people only rarely give hunting this zone a chance. Most go to FM or OT. It's a shame that more people do not form groups and hunt here. This zone has giants, drolvargs, drachnids, goblins; I have even seen a Froglok Knight once. Why is it that no one wants to hunt here?

You know I have never figured this one out. It is like the Oasis and South Ro in the old world. You can zone in to Oasis with 40 people jumping the first poor gator that spawns while dodging Spec trains. Then you zone into South Ro fight the same mob with no competition. Shrug go figure.

My best guess is that people go where others tell em to go. Don't know much about FM, however in OT you can zone line hunt. You couldn't do that as effectively in FV. Of course you wouldn't have a Dragoon randomly killin a few folks every game day either. : )

Ok for you KoS people in FV, there is hope. My level 53 Iksar Shadow Knight is able to stroll down the streets of this town without getting jumped (and he is not invisible either :) ). In order to accomplish this feat, you need to kill thousands, and I mean THOUSANDS, of Goblins...the ones in Warslik Woods and the Lake of Ill Omen will do. Likewise killing Grachnist and the Pit Fighter will give you bigger positive FV faction hits, so your best bet is to go to the Goblin Fort in Warslik Woods and just slaughter goblins until you start seeing them in your sleep.

That is one of the SAFEST ways to travel to loio, however I never go without a self casted invis and a SOW. Lucky me, I bound myself at the mill so I have only taken that trip twice =)

Drachnids regularly cross the river and will hit you even if you're underwater. They'll probably aggro on you too if they see you no matter where you are.

**** drachnids. It's no fun as a low-20 working up a nice set of bubs in LOIO and losing it all cause you keep dying en route to FV. I can only beg for rezzes and sows for so long without feeling dirty.

Go get bound at the bank...It is a central area and is right by the tunnel to the forest to get to LOIO.

My brother was running through the area and he never notices anyone calling for groups there. I'm a fresh 30 paladin and was planning to hunt the Drachnids due to the abundance (positive or negative) of them. Will I be able to find some people to hunt them with me? And is this a good or bad idea?

Best kept secret in the game.

A strong group of mid 20's can take on the drolvarg camp for some great experience.

The best experience however is in the Drolvarg underground. You will need a chanter and a cleric here as the pulls are endless... For one reason alone... Nobody else is here!

This will be your first exposure to drolvargs as they get much stronger when you meet them at the Dreadlands.

So, this is the safest way to get to LOIO?

>>>>>>>>>When u leave the outpost take ypur right and follow the shore, pass the stream and go on till the zone border, if u see a drachnind on your way, just go into water and swim. When u reach the zone border u will find some cliffs full of trees, climb and go the highest u can and then head north, always very close to the zone border, u will pass first the Dreadlands entrance (a tunnel sorrounded with ruins that u can pass walking over it) and after that, sooner than u think, u will reach the stream again that leads u to the entrance to LOIO.<<<<<<<<<

I think I've picked up that the other way (following the river) is more traveled...is that because it's faster? Or just because it's easier to travel?
RE: Safest Way
# Jun 29 2001 at 9:32 AM Rating: Default
I don't know who suggested the way of turning right as you leave the outpost. This way is extremely dangerous and passes drolvarg camps, forest giant camps, and there are many drolvarg, frogloks, leeches, and drachnids wandering around that could make a high 30ish very nervous. Besides all this, the stream to LOIO is just a short jog to the LEFT of the outpost on your way out. I don't know why anyone would go around the entire zone to go such a short distance. I am level 20 and the ONLY time I ventured anywhere outside the outpost and east of the river was when I was following the shiledbearer that occaisionaly shouts "We march onward!" After shouting this he runs away from the outpost straight into the forest, followed closely by some high elf NPC chick. I thought I would be safe with them around so I followed them. They ran straight into a drolvarg camp and started battle. They don't do so well and are both killed. At this point I'm very worried about getting back and sort of wander around. I reached the zone border at a point about halfway between the outpost and the LOIO zone, the long way. Along the way I picked up a froglok that was red to me and had to zone to Swamp of No Hope. Later on a passing leech aggroed on me and I had to zone again, this time into the Dreadlands. It took me a while to get back to the outpost and I am surely never going that way again.

Hello!

It's Botten the cleric again. I'm level 35 now, so I have learned a few things since my last post. I have been almost exclusively in LOIO and OT since my last post, and have done a bit more traveling through FV.

First off, let me re-evaluate my last post.

I mentioned that I believed drachnids were about level 30. Not true!!! They were all red to me at 25 so that is what I based my opinion on. Now, at level 35 I see blue, black/white, yellow and red, so they run the full spectrum. My new guess is a range of levels 30 to 40.

I also would like to expand on my comment of hugging the western zone edge. This is still, by far, the safest way, but heading out from the bridge and turning west is not the safest way.

There is a large building inside the FV outpost that lies west (and slightly north, I believe) of the bank that houses a tunnel that ends near the western edge of the zone. By all means, take that route over heading out across the bridge!

The end of the tunnel that sits outside of the FV outpost is guarded, so you are safe until you venture outside. The western zone edge is a scant 20 paces from the tunnel opening.

I would be remiss to not mention that, despite what others may tell you, the edge of the zone is NOT perfectly safe. I have been, and assume that I will be again, jumped and killed by drachnids while skirting the zone edge as far up the "wall" as I could go. The risk merely lessens there. It does not disappear altogether.

Remain vigilant and run like the wind!

Greetings from another halfling! It's me, Botten the cleric. I can tell you a few things to keep in mind. The boat ride from BB is quick, once you get the shuttles to move from the dock that is.

You wont be KOS in Firiona Vie unless you are in wolf form, so make sure you don't ever use that! You will know you have reached the Firiona Vie dock when you see the large statue (it looks Greek) so exit the boat at that time.

The only danger I see in this region is actually GETTING TO loio from Firiona Vie. The path you must take goes through the land of the Drachnids-a tough (around level 30, I believe) bunch of magic casting spiders and the drixies (they look like butterflies). Either of these and many others will kill you quickly.

To illustrate this I have a level 25 Paladin who had SoW, STR, AGI, DEX and various shield buffs cast on me (read: LOTS of HP) and a drachnid rooted me to the ground quicker than I could say Firiona Vie! I was almost dead and had to cast LOH and pray that I would become unrooted before I died. I did finally and made it back to the city with one bubble of health left after LOH had restored me to full.

Bottom line, sometimes the only thing that will save you is pure luck and sometimes you just die. As with any zone though, if you can hug the western zone wall on your trip from the city to the LOIO zone you should be safer.

Hope this helps.

I have posted this before but think it is necessary again. Theres a way to get save to LOIO without dieing slained by drachnids and froglock, i have use it lot of times now every time with good results.

The normal rooute pleople use to go to LOIO is following the stream that starts left from the bridge leaving the elven outpost. DONT DO THAT. When u leave the outpost take your left and follow the shore, pass the stream and go on till the zone border, if u see a drachnind on your way, just go into water and swim. When u reach the zone border u will find some cliffs full of trees, climb and go the highest u can and then head north, always very close to the zone border, u will pass first the Dreadlands entrance (a tunnel sorrounded with ruins that u can pass walking over it) and after that, sooner than u think, u will reach the stream again that leads u to the entrance to LOIO.

There are signifficantly less MOBS at the border than along the stream so u will be safer. As i said, i have done this lot of times and have never get killed.

Another way to do the same (even safer) is to stop at the middle of the bridge that leads u out form the elven outpost. U will see that the walls sorrounding the outpost raise from the water. jump on the wall to your left and run along it keeping and eye to the shore. U will see that the shore is close to you first, that it slowly goes far away and that in some point it starts to come close again. That closer point is the zone border so just jump from the wall and swim, thereŽs no risk in water. When u reach the shore, just do what I said before, climb the cliffs as high as u can and head north.

Hope this Help u to get safe to LOIO.

I have a lvl 13 enchanter in the field of bone. Do I have to travel to another continent to buy spells or are they sold in FV or some other zone in Kunark? Do any merchants outside of Cabilis sell jewel craft metals or gems where I wouldn't be KOS to get to?

The jewel craft items are only sold within Cabilis. And yes, you will be KOS to the guards outside the city gates and inside the ruins.

There ARE merchants in FV who sell gems and metals for jewel-craft: a full line. Look for a hut with a torch out front and 2 dwarven merchants inside. They carry a very full line of items.
Jumping off the boat
# May 02 2001 at 6:43 PM Rating: Default
You can actually see firona sometimes as soon as you zone in, and if you have sow on or if levi is still holding, just jump off the boat and you can swim anywhere you'd like without fear of a guard nailing you as you walk onto the dock. The boat just pauses on zone entry to make the "distance" seem further.

I was just wondering if anyone knew if Human SKs are KOS in FV? I am apprehensive in OT so am able to bank and sell if need be but it is so far away from the Lake (and through very dangerous country at that). All iksar start deep KOS with Firiona Vie. Killing Sarnaks will not help the faction either (but won't hurt). To improve FV faction, you need to kill several thousand goblins.
HOW TO TRAVEL ACROSS FIRIONA VIE AS A LOW LEVEL
# Mar 02 2001 at 1:03 PM Rating: Excellent

In my short experience in Kunark as a lvl 17 druid my first great problem was to travel across firiona vie heading to Swamp of No Hope or the Lake of ill omen, without being slained by a drachind, a froglock or any creature roaming around. In my first two attemps I figured that i can easily do it with sow and camouflage (druid invis) and following the road to Swamp, great mistake. There are aggresive mobs everywhere, and u know invis can fade at any time. In addition, there are mobs that can see through invis and i can assure u that sow would not help you to overrun them after the two very high point hits you are going to take before u notice u are in trouble. Just to give you an idea of how painful can those hits be, iŽll say that the third one will take u directly back to your bind point, and then you are going to start wondering how are you going to recover your stuff with all those high lvl monsters around. In my case, i have to wait for a kind high lvl bard to drag my corpse back and that service cost me a pretty high amout of pp (for my lvl of course).

Well, in my third attempt i put in practice a tecnique that i read about before, but applied to trips from Qeynos to Freeport for very low lvls. I decided to follow the shore to the west after leaving the bridge that connects the elven outpost with the rest of the firiona vie zone and run without stopping till the zone end (eyes wide open of course). u will find some cliffs there that are the western border of the zone, climb and follow them to the north running as high as you can,and you will first reach the dreadlands entrance (a tunnel sorrounded with ruins that u can pass walking on the cliff over it) then the Lake of Ill Omen entrance (easy to find cause the only river that u will find on your way leads to it) and if you cross the river and continue running along the cliffs you will finally reach Swamp of no Hope. The cliffs are not in a straight line, so u will always have to be in attention about the zone border, always stay very, very close to it. I have done this two times (once going to swamp and once returning) and have absolute no problem, just a few mobs roaming around, few enough to keep an eye on them while you run. In those two crossings i only see two drachnids an a firiona drixie and can easily avoid them, great difference with the road where u can see a mob everywhere you turn along almost all the way.

Hope this help u reach your destination in Kunark.

As a 24 Rogue I have found that I can hide/sneak past all the bad things in FV on my way to the lake, perhaps I have just been lucky to date but I have not been aggroed in FV yet **** happy bout it to) I have heard that the Drachnids (sp?) can see through invis, does anyone have an accurate answer to this? I would hate for that to be the case as I am usually buck naked on corpse retrieval when travelling through here.

Loxi, The only thing I have consistently noticed is that if a Drachnid fights something and lives; for some reason they can see through Hide/Sneak. I have stopped to watch a fight between a Silkstrander (the only Drachnid not listed in the zone guide and the highest level) and a Pilgrim only to have the Spider finish that up and turn to me. If it chases someone to the zone and comes back to its' "route" it can often see invis as well. I have no idea why, maybe another Drach buffs them? Anyhow, avoid fighting Drachs, also Con any that are in your path, if they are scowling, give them a wide berth...

Anyhow, the usual thing to do at that moment is to die, horribly and quickly. Then you go get your corpse...

If it makes you feel any better, I can kill them now with a little help from my Druid friend and I give the Leg Tips out to little Rogues ;)
