I am a 70 chanter on Cazic Thule. I nuked him and slowed him using forlorn deeds and psychosis. Almost all chanter spells are mr or have mr checks. He is NOT 100% mr resistant, just highly resistive. After a tash he was putty in my hands.

"I will not help the likes of you"
"I will not help the likes of you"

and he didnt even give me my stones back, im an iksar and it seems that he doesnt like iksars. is there anyway i could get this, i need it for shackle of bronze

You need to be sneaking. You can hit sneak even when feigning. When you stop feigning, you will still be 'sneaking' assuming your sneak was sucessful to begin with.

Easier method is to get a cloudy potion, invis yourself past the two gargoyles at the entrance to the tunnel. Approach Tektite from behind, hit sneak then click off invis. If all went well you should con indifferent. Get close enough to trade and put two Carnelians unstacked in the trade window. Trade and get your peice of Tektite. You cannot trade while feigning.

To get out, have another potion or try to sneak past the outside gargoyles. I would try to go to the right and try to stay behind the one on the right. If you do try to sneak between them, they will spot you.

At the entrance to the outpost, there are two named gargoyles. If you walk straight between them, there will be two other gargoyles guarding the end of the tunnel. The one on the left hand side is Tektite.

OK, This is way out there, ... maybe! Even if ye get aggro'd turning in the cornelians, simply run out the gateway, turn left, and FD near the pedestal holding the PoK book. I know for a fact you can port to PoK if ye FD and click the pedestal while FD'd. Been there, done that. Just my 2cp worth. Now if I can just find the varment!!! I need that shackle to get going again with quests.
P.S. SoW would probably help the run out, and invis helps the venture in.

I did this guy with my guild for the wurmslayer quest. Absoutly impossible with any number of lvl 20's or 30's. The wurms in BW were one group easy. Tektite is very hard. One thing is he is nearly impossible to single pull.
This is what we did.

We waited til the goons ran at 11PM. Then we took 3 pullers all 40+. One puller agroed to mobs and pulled them to SF zone.

The other puller pulled 2 mobs to the pok book and the raid took tektite. This was a great method and we took tektite and the other named gargoyle gaurd. It lasted a few minutes with a raid of 25 Most people were 40+.

No way to raise faction
# Mar 11 2002 at 4:42 PM Rating: Decent

The only way to raise faction with the outpost is by raising Venril Sathir Faction. You can do this ONLY by either killing Kunark dragons, or doing the sarnak braid quest. The sarnak braids drop of random sarnaks in the Overthere (Common)Once you get alot, head into the outpost.. Keep in mind only non KOS people can raise thier faction by turning in braids. If you are KOS originally, you can only kill dragons (Such as Veeshan's Peek dragons) To raise it. There is one way for rogues and enchanter, simply put an illusion on.. But nobody else can do the braid quest if your KOS. Get the braids head over to Captain Rotgrim, and hand them over, 4 at a time....

... except that when you /q, it's basically the same as going LD; things continue to happen to you for about 30 seconds, so if you've got mobs chasing you and you /q, you'll stop running, they catch up to you and beat on you for a little while before you poof. Your idea will work if you've got the HP to take the beating, but I wouldn't suggest it for cloth-armor pencilnecks :)

I dont have any problems with these guys at all. My religeon is Rallos Zek and I started off conning Apprehensively to them. Apprehensively is not KOS but darn close to it. I started killing Sarnak berserkers for their whips and turned them into The skelly captain inside the outpost. The Gargs now con amiable to me. My suggestion is, if you con apprehensively to them, you might just be able to get the Tektite with no problem, but if in doubt, raise faction with them by killin Sarnak berserkers and turning in their Whips to the skelly captain. Invis to undead might work for good races to do the same thing coupled with sneak ya might just get lucky and get faction raised to the point ya aint KOS no more. Experiment.... what the worst that kin happen... death? Heh I laff at death... heck... I AM death! heh

Actually, apprehensive isn't that close, but dubious is. Here's how it works (best to worst):

Ally, warmly, amiably, indifferent, apprehensive, dubious, glares threatenly (sp?), and scowls, ready to attack. Just so you know, apprehensive isn't a very good one, but it not close to KOS.

I was doing the carnelians (for obvious reasons stated above), and I could never get it to work. First, I got an invis. I went up to him, and right as I gave him one:

You appear.
Tektite tries to hit YOU but misses!
Tektite tries to hit YOU, but you block!
Tektite hits YOU for 175 points of damage.
You have fallen to the ground.
Dragoons all hit YOU till feign pops again...

Then, I feigned with 4 hp left! 4!! So I stayed in the hallway between the 4 guards feigned for a while, while my druid friend was trying to think of a way to help me. Then some loser trained a bunch of crud to the guards, my way out! The guards distracted, I ran out of the outpost and feigned. Later, with a brand new invis, I went back to Tektite. I was about to give him the carnelians when...

You appear.
You write in the grip of agony. You have taken 941 points of damage.
Tektite tries to hit YOU, but misses!

I was so lucky feign didn't fail, I couldn't even see my health after whatever it was that HT'd me. I checked, and with the buffs I had, I had exactly 1k hp. Without buffs I would have been toast. I tried again, only to have the luck of:

Bard's Illusion fades.
Bard trains the undead marines.
Bard is slain by an undead marine.
You say to yourself,"good thing i'm invis".
An undead marine scowls at you ready to attack. What would you like your tombstone to say?
An undead marine slashes YOU for 175 points of damage.
You appear.
An undead marine slashes YOU for 175 points of damage.
An undead marine slashes... above message x8.
Tektite tries to hit YOU, but you block!
Tektite tries to hit YOU, but you dodge!
You mend your wounds and heal some damage.
Dragoons begin to cast a spell.
/bye
You writhe in the grip of agony. You have taken 941 damage. x2.
You have been slain like it's not even funny.

Needless to say, this quest still isn't done yet. All I need is the stupid tektite and I'm DONE! Who would have thought this part would have been so hard?

"You writhe in the grip of agony. You take 941 points of damage". Okay, thats obviously harm touch, but considering HT dmg only raises by 10 each level, wouldn't that make this guy lvl 94?!? I could of course be wrong since you're the one who took the damage, but it still seems a bit odd to have THAT much damage done by HT. Just my thoughts.....

You're obviously not a shadowknight, and have never played one.=) It's ok, though! We're gonna get you straight! heheh! When you get into your 40's Harm Touch does a little more than 10hps per lvl +1hp. With my Sk, at lvl 50, he could Harm Touch for 731. I was close too 800 at lvl 52, but I can't remember the exact number. Now, when someone like General V'Deers or Arch Duke Xog, who are lvl 61 Sk's Harm Touch you, they will be using their disciplines many times. I made the mistake one time of letting V'Deers HT me for over 1000hps. After one punch, I was dead... I didn't even have the chance to run! =) Oh well... Hope this helps ya out with your sk knowledge.

Any merchant that sells jewelry supplies will sell carnelians. In East Cabilis, Klok Ixmid sells carnelians for about 1pp a piece. There's three shops between the bank and the monk guild; she's in the one closest to the bank.

No, sure doesn't. Neither does his 3 friends. If you're trying to get the piece of Tektite, easiest way is to get someone not KOS to the gargoyles to cast an invis on you. You can walk up right behind him, hit sneak, and hand him the two carnelians (in two separate slots). You'll get the pieve of Tektie, and your invis will drop. Don't worry, you're safe from the two facing in to the post, they won't turn around. But when you head outside, get that person to invis you again before you get in front of the gargoyles facing outside, or they'll attack. Once you're a safe distance from the gargoyles, you can drop your invis.

Bards can able get a piece of tektite from him.

Go into the outpost using your Sonorous Clouding (invis) song. I then stood near Tektite and pressed "sneak". I checked to ensure that sneak was working then walked behind him. I turned in the 2 carnelians and got the Tektite.

Why did I use my invis song and not just sneak? Well my sneak skill is pathetic (probably around 40). I had tried using just sneak the first time and it worked for about 5 seconds until Tektite and his buddy aggro'd on me and killed me (level 50 bard).

It is not that they see through your illusion if not agnostic, it is the fact that your faction is so low from following a good god that you might still be kos. I have a rogue of Bristlebane and was initially kos in outpost. After some sarnak killing I could enter the outpost in dark elf form at apprehensive, if I took off the dark elf illuion was still kos. Not that it matters since can sneak/hide around in there with no fear anyway, not even the undead near docks can see you.

I did this tonight with a human necro. You don't have to talk to Tektite to get the piece out of him, just hand him the carnelians (at least that worked for me, and he con'd apprehensive to me).

The piece of Tektite is both lore and nodrop. You can get the guy in temple of ro to talk about it with "I want your scale" and hand over the tektite and peridot and bingo you have your lore (but NOT nodrop) scale.

If you do the first choice then you can get the third scale without killing the paladin. Is that right?
Spawn time

I was wondering what the spawn rate on this gargoyle is. I went to Overthere to get some tektite from him and a human NPC kept showing where he's supposed to be. I'm assuming he was slain before I got there and the human is a PH maybe.
Tektite no drop?

Is the tektite no drop? I assume it is, but I thought I might as well ask anyway...
Yep

You could try talking...

You could give the paladin some tektite and something else to get a scale without killing him. Try simply telling the Paladin that you want his scale and see where it goes from there.
3rd scale?

I thought the scales are gotten like this: one from the paladin in Sol Temple, and two from the wurms in BW. Where does Tektite come in?

The pally asks for tektite in exchange for the scale. I suppose you can kill him to get the 3rd scale, but why lose faction when you don't have to?
you can kill him for
