Aid Grimel is located at the top of the elevator in the Library in the Plane of Knowledge. Before you hail him, you must be flagged from killing Terris-Thule. You must also have an unmodified skill of 220 in Brewing.

At the end of the previous quest, Aid Grimel asked whether you had any brewing skill.

You say, 'I have skill in brewing.'

Aid Grimel says 'I bet you could make a wicked brew! However I am forced to drink a refreshing drink while out adventuring. I do have this powder that will give the best drinks quite a bite though. Mix the powder in with two Kaladim Constitutionals and a flask of pure water. If you need more dust just ask for it! Put three twice brewed constitutionals and the signet in this drink barrel. As hard as drink barrels are to get these days, you need to return it to me along with the drink you create with it.'

Aid Grimel gives you a Portable Drink Barrel and some Fermenting Dust.

To make purified water, mix one celestial essence with two flasks of water in a brew barrel (trivial of 66).

To make twice brewed constitutional, mix the fermenting dust, purified water, and two kaladim constitutionals in a planar brew barrel or New Tanaan Brewing Barrel (trivial 252).

To make the portable drink, combine three twice brewed constitutionals with the hardened leather signet in the portable drink barrel (trivial unknown, but presumably around 250).

If you fail the combines go back to Aid and tell him "I have skill in brewing" and he'll give you a new supply.

  • Give the portable drink and portable drink barrel to Aid Grimel.

Aid Grimel gulps down a Twice Brewed Constitutional and burps loudly! 'Ahhhh that was refreshing! That should hold me over for quite some time. I see you are quite deft of hand, perhaps you would care to put your jewel craft skills to the test?'

I turned in the Portable Drink but did not receive the Clay Signet. I guess I now have to do the blacksmithing quest over again as well in order to get another hardened leather signet.

You need to also turn in the barrel. If you just turn in one, you won't get it.

Incredibly, even at 300 skill you can fail the final combine. If this happens you may lose the 3 Fermenting Dust. If such happens, go back to Aid and tell him "I have skill in brewing" and he'll give you a new supply.

How can you skip the smithing part and get the barrel?
    Mqable?

This hand in requires 2 items. One is the actual portable drink and the other is the brewing barrel. I know you can get the brewing barrel without the doing the first turnin. Can you skip smithing by MQing this part?

You can temporarily skip the smithing part by multiquesting, but Councilman Taldarius won't give you the quest for the last earring step if you don't meet the requirements for every skill. So eventually you'll have to go back and do it anyway if you want the best earring of the set.

Most of the grandmaster smiths that I know have said that they won't multiquest for people because if you can't get past smithing, then you probably won't have the motivation to raise all tradeskills.

currently working on this quest as an iksar warrior at 175 int its taking a long time to do the skills but got most of them at 180-200 now so just the slow boring bit left on most of them
this has to be one of the best earings out there many raid mobs havent got loot as good as the final earing but dam i wish they would make tradeskills fair for the dumb melees like me out there but well least i will be GM on the tradeskills after /shrug maybe one day they make something usefull in iksar cultural.

even with the new tradeskill tweak its gonna take a lot of combines to get this done

good luck to all who try

oh I have a guildie who has finished her's and there really is no better earring that you can earn fairly on your own in the game it is well worth all the time and effort spent to earn it.

Do you get the Signet of the previous quest back if you fail, or do you lose it... that would suck to be on the 7th or 8th combine and then fail and have to start all the way over

Once you start combining the signet in recipes, keep in mind that you WILL get the signet back if the combine fails. So don't stress out (as much) about failed combines.

Slightly picky perhaps, but you can't do this quest until you have Tanaan Crafting Mastery 1 (AA ability at 51)

Incredible time/money sinks for these quests, and not sure if end result is worth it. But still a nice gesture to true Tradeskill Masochists :D

I think the level range fits it as you need to be flagged to Elemental Planes to finish the quest as the last item drops in those planes.

If you have access to ele planes your xp flows as it took me 2 days in Fire to gain the tanaan mastery 6 of 6. (18pts)
