Aid Grimel is located at the top of the elevator in the Library in the Plane of Knowledge. Before you hail him, you must be flagged from killing Rallos Zek and Solusek Ro. You must also have an unmodified minimum skill of 220 in fletching.

At the end of the previous quest, Aid Grimel asked whether you have skills with a fletching knife.

You say, 'I have skills with a fletching knife.'

Aid Grimel says 'Aye I can see you are skilled with the fletching knife ______. It is good too, I need to replace Councilman Taldarius's bow from Plane of Air. Combine a Planing Tool, two Wind Metal Bow Cams, an Air Arachnid Silk String, a Featherwood Staff and the signet. I hope the bow will be up to his standards, he sure loved his old bow.'

Give Aid Grimel the resulting bow (trivial > 300).

Aid Grimel says 'Masterful work ______! I can see your skill in the curves of the bow. Take this as a sign of my respect for your skill. The last item I need before we can be off is some food. I warn you this will truly test your skills. Do you fancy yourself a master chef?'

All the "bow staff" items in the game got renamed to "bowstave" in Sept 2018.

tinkering

Does anyone else see the flaw in this part of the quest, in that you are totaly dependent on someone else not failing at doing the combine on the cams; as well as trusting them to give them back to you after they have made them since the items ie chunk of windmetal are not that easy to obtain. with the ornate armor at least if your smithing is not up to snuff you can at least hire an npc to do the combine for you. This realy bothers me that our success or failure depends on the ability as well as honesty of someone else.

Only the Cam parts are smithed. The cams themselves are tinkered. I can't imagine any guild capable of being elemental not having at least 1 GM tinkerer in it, and if you can't trust your guildies then you are in the wrong guild.

I see your reasoning flawed. The Cams are smithed, which you did to start this quest, and trivial at 220 which, funny enough, you have to be in smithing to start this.

Do you get the signet back if you fail?

Yes, both failable combines involving a signet (tailoring step 5, fletching step 6) return the signet on failure.
DONT do this
# Jun 15 2003 at 6:04 PM Rating: Default
DONT forget to put your signet from the previous step in the fletching kit. The recipe w/o the NODROP signet makes a featherwood compound bow (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=17778) which is NOT NOT NOT what u want.

Do I have to?

Is it neccessary to complete the previous Aid Grimel quests to do this one?

Yes, because the last combine for each quest requires the signet from the previous quest, meaning you can't skip a step.
