This task is the fifth group mission in a series for Solteris access. It follows the mission 'Counter-Attack!'

Tactician Sodut is located in Katta Castrum at about -560 +100 (south courtyard area from the temple zone in).

You say, 'Hail, Tactician Sodut'

Tactician Sodut says 'Prime Researcher Elnot sent you? I'm sure that we can discover what you need to learn, in time, but first we must finish what we started together. I am confident that Emperor Vaakiszh holds the key you need to save our city, if you are brave enough to [undertake] this final mission.'

You say, 'We will undertake this mission'

Tactician Sodut says 'I knew I could count on you! Excellent. [Alert] me when you are ready to proceed.'

You have been assigned the task 'Confront Emperor Vaakiszh'.

Tactician Sodut has given you one last task. Alert him when you are ready to enter Zhisza and he will help you slip inside the habitat without detection... he hopes.

Tactician Sodut has asked you to enter Zhisza one more time. He believes that now is the time to strike a decisive blow against the Shissar who wish to destroy the Combine. Move to the heart of the Shissar temple and at the highest point of the temple's interior you will find the Emperor. Tactician Sodut believes that if you strike him down you will be able to end the aggression of the Shissar once and for all and restore order to this city.

Kill 5 of the Temple Patrollers

Kill at least five temple patrollers. You should see enough of these on your way up to see the Emperor.

Confront Emperor Vaakiszh

The emperor is located at the very top of the temple. He is not KOS.

You say, 'Hail, Emperor Vaakiszh'

Emperor Vaakiszh hisses loudly. 'Why have you come here, Kumbukk? Your [death] can be the only result! I am of Zhisza's line and all in this temple will rally to protect me!'

You say, 'It'll be your death!'

Emperor Vaakiszh says 'Very well, fool! Guards!'

The emperor will summon three waves of shissar adds, 2-3 shissar per wave. Shortly after the third wave, he will become active and summon a final wave.

Emperor Vaakiszh calls forth his guards!

Kill him.

Search Emperor Vaakiszh for any documents that might be useful

He drops Orders to Vaakizsh (identifies as "A series of orders to the puppet Emperor Vaakiszh"). Someone must loot this item and give it to Sodut.

Return to Tactician Sodut and show him what you've found out

Tactician Sodut says 'Hmm, well, hello there _____. I'm sorry if I seem distracted but right now I fear the entire city may be in danger if I do not unravel this [mystery].'

Receive a positive faction hit with Combine Empire Merchants, a number of Onux.

For progression purposes, you need to complete this 'A City in Peril' mini-task before moving onto the next group mission in the series, 'Where There's a Will'.

After many failures on this mission due to aggro issues and adds, only way we were able to beat it was using infusion. Resisted all fd procs with it. Use strategies listed below along with infusion.

Your task 'A City in Peril - Speak with Tactician Sodut' has been updated.

*note- 'Undertake' is the key phrase to request Solteris#5. I must have gotten a taskadd for #4 beforehand, but never did 'A City in Peril' (Solteris #2b) until just then. This text came about after accomplishing 3, and 4 already.

an anguish geared grp can do this mission have done it many times our pally tank buffs to 19 k with everything all anguish gear , some expndable aa's can help a lot , killing all the adds you can is the key if you have a chnter ae stuns on the last wave is the way to go ,if not an off tank like a plai or sk or monk (warrior, monk , cleric ,shaman, ruid ranger is a combo that we use well here , monk stayson adds til they are all dead warrior cc's emp til rest can help takes 30 seconds or so so warrior needs to be smart and do the right things to buy the grp that 30seconds they need to finish off the adds ,

weve won this at least 10 times now with similar grps strat just changes a lil based on grp make up and no one has more than anguish gear , but we do all have lots of aa's vet rewards , and on occaisoon iuse expendable aa's specially if the tank on emp is not a warrior

The emperor says that all in the tempe will come to his aid but only the "event adds" will appear. Of course, you should have at least the floor below him cleared to avoid possible social aggro (not tested) and get some maneuvering space.

1. You start the event by saying "Death".

2. The emperor does NOT activate.

3. 3 waves of 2+ mobs spawn in the corridor outside, commanders being unmesable but all are rootable. Kill as much as you can.

4. Wave 4.
Now the emperor activates and another wave is spawned outside.
If someone is quick with AE root or the likes, the adds can all be intercepted outside before ever entering the room.

We fought the Emperor alone and killed the adds later.

When getting ready for Wave 4, you should have the tank ready at the emperor, attack on and spamming bellow.
If not aggrod quickly the Emp can warp someplace else and the event will reset.
Besides, you don't want 3k flurries on a random group member.

After saying Death in the hallway outside the room spawns:
1x a_shissar_commander
1x a_shissar_shadow_knight (not 100% on the name here)

Second wave:
2x a_shissar_shadow_knight

Third Wave:
2x a_shissar_shadow_knight
1x a_shissar_commander

Fourth Wave:
2-3x a_shissar_shadow_knight
1x a_shissar_commander
Emperor Vaakiszh

Shadow Knights can be mezzed, Commanders are unmezzable, they and the shadow knights hit for 500ish.

Emperor hit for 3298 max with 35% shielding on a paladin. As mentioned he Flurries (frequently) and Rampages (didn't seem to be for much).

Hi, not in a anguished geared zone but am well dressd with necro and paladin.
Guild has one heavy tank and have done this missions with a 18k tank but we couldnt not finish the last fight with emp. Just wondering is it a waste of time to continue trying? Are the mobs inside zhisza so hard that if we got access we would be struggling to get the mobs inside dead? Any input would be great primarly want to get in here for nice paly cleric drops which seem to be absent from everywhere else in this expansion.

Thanks

mission 5, confront the emp

just finished it today after the new patch, much easier..im 21khp 2600ac war max aa.... commanders are non mezable, all other adds mezable, adds spawn 2 on first round, 2 on 2nd, then 3 and 4 on last round, then emp is active, i am not sure if he spawned a 5th set of adds, I dont think so. so if you have lots of dps you can clear most of the adds before round 4.
war should go fort when the emp is active and charges group, all dps on the emp, an offtank is a good addition to this fight as well as an enchanter, so easy with enc. enc mez all non commanders, off tank picks up all adds on wave 4 for mez and to ot, once the fort wears off, war goes defensive and clicks all his skills, everyone burns dps dis on emp and drops him fast, then cycle non mez commander adds, and then mezed adds, hand in the documents ftw took less then 1.5 hrs. much much less mobs and easier adds on boss then pre-patch zortho

confirmed, the emp spawns two commanders on his spawn, before as the adds are being fought. We wiped twice with a paladin, bard, shadowknight, cleric, warrior and wizard. We are partly demi-plane geared and party anguish geared. We almost had it though. I am sure we could have pulled it off, but him attacking with the adds was much harder.

You say, "Hail, Prime Researcher Elnot Wymun"
Prime Resarcher Elnot Wymun says "Time has not cooled Prexus' anger at us, and our danger could not be greater. The very existence of our city hangs in the balance. If we do not find a solution we are all doomed. Meanwhile the artifact continues to [darken]"
You say, "Darken"
Prime Resarcher Elnot Wymun says "I think I see now the link that eluded me btween the failing Pellarus Satum and the darkening skies above the waves. Prexus hinted that the Pellarus Stum is in fact a god-artifact and if that is true then it can belong to no other god than Solesek Ro. If my theory is correct then the Pellarus Satum is powered by a link directly to [Solteris] itself."
You say, "Solteris"
Prime Resarcher Elnot Wymun says "Solteris is the Throne of Ro, the seat of his power. Nowhere else is in Solusek Ro more powereful than atop his thorne in Solteris. If the Pellarus Satum is linked to Solteris then the [cause] of our present misery must lie there. Something is gravely wrong with Solteris itself and it seems to worsen every day".
You say, "cause"
Prime Resarcher Elnot Wymun says "The only way to know for certain how to repair the Pellarus Satum is to attempt something that no other mortal has ever dared. We must [send a force] to Solteris itself to discover the root of the darkness that is spreading accross Norrath and resolve it, if it is even possible for us to do so".
You say, "Send a force"
Prime Resarcher Elnot Wymun says "I fear that this task is beyond the knowledge of the Combine. To travel to Solteris we will need to seek the knowledge of outsiders. It will be dangerous but I believe the [Shissar] hold the key we now seek."
You say, "Shissar"
Prime Resarcher Elnot Wymun says "Seek out Tactician Sodut in the city. You must work with Tactician Sodut to uncover a way to use Shissar technology to travel to Solteris. I eagerly await your return ________"
You say, "Hail, Tactician Sodut"

This quest is extremely difficult now. My understanding is the previously you could fight all the waves without the Emp aggroing, now the Emp aggros and spawns two unmezzable commanders every time. Pretty tough quest and I am in a DP+ guild. Casting chain heals on the main tank alone wasnt even moving his hp, even after Emp was slowed. (DP equipped pal).

This one rough for sure, but I have defeated with solidly CoA-geared group (WAR was about 16KHP/3KAC unbuffed, 2 shammies, druid, cleric, rogue). Got Solteris flagged with basically this make up (kinda insane, I know, since I wont see that zone for years heh) -- sometimes a ranger or chanter replaced a shammy. Don't get me wrong, there were wipes galore and it took some perserverence but it's definitely doable for the mid-tiers. It probably helped that the folks involved group together a lot so were in sync too.

Incidentally in order to get this mission you need to say "undertake" to Tactician Sodut. Then say "alert" to enter.

You are thinking of mission 4.

We have tried 3 times now on 5, still no luck. Mainly cose it takes 3 hours to get to Boss, then a wipe, and people get fed up and leave.
Final fight
# Feb 23 2007 at 8:46 PM Rating: Decent
For the boss spawns: Soldiers hit very hard and are mezable. Commanders are very weak hitters and can be OTed by any melee class. Shadow knights hit for maybe 1k max, not sure if they're mezable but they can be OTed by a well-geared melee class. I suggest assigning the tank to the Soldiers and have him keep an eye out for when the Emperor spawns. The Emperor procs feign death on the tank, which can wipe the group out very quickly; that's what got us on our third and final try.

We confirmed today that you do NOT need to clear the whole temple. We sneaked past several sections of the temple and left a lot of mobs alive but the only mobs Emperor Zaarisz summoned were the weaker spawned waves of mobs (although they do come VERY rapidly, no more than 30 seconds between waves)

Pretty much nothing on the lowest floor of the temple on the route to the 2nd level sees invisible, but there are many see invis on the 2nd level, and the 3rd level doesn't really have anything you can avoid clearing -- so it's a fairly slow trip to get to the Emperor.
Undertake

Undertake (is the keyword) to spawn the mission so you don't have to run back to Elnot repeatedly once you have completed the earlier Progression parts.

In a CoA guild, warrior, cleric, druid, bsty, wiz, bard.
Cleared our way in, got to top, hailed, started waves. Mezzed as we went, when unmezzables popped, swithed targets, took down commanders, took down named.
Win.
First time in there, didn't know what to expect, not that bad at all really.

This event is way insane. If you are not in a End game guild with a 20k 3500 AC tank and Massive DPS this event is next to impossible. And to make it worse if you do fail the first go and go back to try again it will not let you. You get the first wave of 2 adds (yellow con) then nothing else.

The way the event works is you kill 10 if i remember right Shissar Patroler's then you need to kill Emperor Zaarisz. you need to clear the entire Temple as the rummor is that he will call any mob in the Temple to assist. At first he is non KoS so can clear his room. Once you group is ready you say Death to him and the waves of adds start in groups of 2. When the 4th wave spawns the Emp becomes active. You need to kill him As fast can possible while the adds are still coming 2 at a time. The Shissar Commanders (hit between 100-400) are not Mezzable so don't even bother tring to.

If you wipe or succor to ZI with Druid or wizzy you might as well wrap it up the last 3 hours that you spent clearing is wasted and you have to start all over again.

So far this expantion has Events way out there in left field. I have heard even some of the Top Guilds are having troubles with these. Was told tonight that one of the top guilds tried the first raid in this series and it was so bad that they will not be messing with it for a while.

mobs we killed didn't respawn so decess/evac or whatever wouldn't mean you'd have to start all over again. if you wipe, emperor will reset himself (you can tell when he's indiff con). we tried final fight against emperor 3x, finally winning the 3rd attempt. group was shm, war, bst, wiz, clr & mnk, and not all in high-end raiding guilds. had to kill adds until we were able to attack emperor (3 or 4 waves of 2 adds per wave), at which point we just focused on emperor to burn him down quick. adds didn't despawn after emp was killed so we killed them too. adds DO summon tho, so imho best for entire group to just stand near emp so tank can keep aggro on all.

Uhh... I dont know how you had the tank take all 3 mobs at the end without a mezzer and not being in a high end raiding guild.. We attempted this with a 3.5k ac 20k hp warrior and he popped furious then final stand and they still chewed the hell out of him since emp himself flurries for 3k.. The only reasonable way to beat this I can see is either a quick mezzer or a non-laggy good kiter for the adds, we did figure out that you can actually tag them before they get to his room so you can run them out of the temple and out of the way (in theory) Our kiter has had to leave by the time we cleared 2X now so Im not sure if that will cause the emporer to poof and reset or not but I do not believe it will since they spawn outside the room anyways...

Top guilds do have some trouble with these events.. but there are already 3 guilds raiding in Solteris the top raid zone. Currently Triality beat first 2 events.. and did so within 3 weeks of expansion release. Township Rebellion and Cestus Dei both have beat another event.
