Reyia Beslin may be found at -154, -1502, -137.

    You say, 'Hail, Reyia Beslin'

Reyia Beslin says 'Greetings, ______. I am Reyia Beslin of the Ashen Order. I help to train our members and I am in charge of handing out the orange and red Sashes of Order. Would you like to know [how you can get an orange sash]? Or maybe you think you are ready to earn the [red sash]?'

You say, 'I think I am ready to earn the red sash.'

Reyia Beslin says 'So, you think you are skilled enough to earn the red Sash of Order, ______? I have just the [task] for you then. But be warned, this will be the toughest challenge you have faced yet. There are many legends and myths of great heroes and ancient evils from all over Norrath. Here in Freeport, we get travelers from all over the world, and we get their tales as well. The point is that most of these stories are just that, stories and fairy tales. Told to amuse people and frighten children. I also thought the tales I'd heard about the [Marnek Jaull] were only legends, but now I know better.'

    You say, 'What task?'

Reyia Beslin says 'I've heard a few legends of a powerful wand that Marnek himself used to wield. This was known as the wand of the Burning Dead, and was rumored to instill its owner with mystical energies. The legends I have heard all differed on the wand's creation and powers, but the basic story was always the same. I will [tell you the legend] if you like. The task I have for you is to bring me the two parts that make up the wand of the Burning Dead, before they can be assembled and used for evil once again. Bring me [Marnek's wand] and the [Sapphire of Souls], along with your orange sash, and you will have proven yourself a loyal member of the Ashen Order, worthy of receiving the red sash.'

You say, 'Who is Marnek Jauli?'

Reyia Beslin says 'Marnek Jaull led a cult of necromancers who followed the Burning Prince, Solusek Ro. He built an army, known as the Burning Dead, and spread destruction and fire throughout Antonica. Over the years, the Burning Dead fought many fierce and bloody battles with the paladins of Prexus, the Oceanlord. Though Marnek achieved many victories over the paladins, ultimately they were able to defeat him and destroy the Burning Dead. Legends say that before his defeat, Marnek created many powerful weapons and items, and wrote many books on his findings in the areas of magic. Many of these items were hidden away from the paladin forces, and remain untouched, waiting for Marnek's return, as the legends go.'

You say, 'What is Marnek's wand?'

Reyia Beslin says 'Marnek's wand is rumored to be found in the depths of Befallen. Those who currently hold Befallen are said to be new followers of the Burning Dead. Probably believing that they may one day be able to awaken the evil Marnek again. This group must be stopped, and these evil items destroyed, before their wicked armies grow powerful enough to leave their horrible dungeon and spread throughout Antonica.'

You say, 'What is the Sapphire of Souls?'

Reyia Beslin says 'The Sapphire of Souls is rumored to be held by a thief in Najena. No one knows how this guy obtained the sapphire, but we believe he is trying to strike a bargain with those who are currently holding Befallen. Apparently, we aren't the only ones who know of the wand's powers, and this thief thinks he can make a profit from it. Sadly, his greed will surely lead to his death.'

You say, 'Tell me the legend.'

Reyia Beslin says 'The legend of the wand of the Burning Dead goes basically like this, though you may hear slighty different versions from others. Marnek did a lot of experiments and created an unknown number of diabolical artifacts and weapons. One of his creations was this wand. Marnek fashioned a charred wand from the scorched bone of a paladin of Prexus, and Solusek Ro himself created the wretched Sapphire of Souls. Then, Marnek and his priests combined these, with the Burning Prince's blessing, to create the wand of the Burning Dead. Marnek used this Wand and its powers in his evil and destructive reign over Antonica. Years later, as Marnek starting losing battles to the paladins of Prexus, one of his own followers, a necromancer named Kenox, was able to steal the wand. Sensing Marnek's defeat, Kenox made his way toward Odus, hoping to strike a deal with the paladins for the wand. Would you like me to [tell you about Kenox]?'

You say, 'I would like you to tell me about Kenox.'

Reyia Beslin says 'Well, Kenox was not as sly as he liked to think he was. Marnek knew full well what he was up to, but let him continue with his plans. Kenox had arranged to meet with two paladins late one nght on a small island in Erud's Crossing, a place that would be considered neutral ground. Sir Toran Neshal, leader of the paladins, knowing the power of the wand, was certainly not going to make any deals with a servant of Solusek Ro, and definitely not foolish enough to take any chances with this mission. Imagine the look on Kenox's face when a ship carrying more than 25 paladins, including Sir Toran, arrived at the small island! The paladins immediately captured Kenox and the wand, and headed back to Erudin. Would like me to [tell you what happened to Toran]?'

You say, 'Tell me what happened to Toran.'

Reyia Beslin says 'Below the deck of the ship, Toran and his men questioned Kenox and carefully inspected the wand. Toran ordered one of his men to pick up the wand and try to identify its true powers. The man picked up the wand, but was unable to decipher its magic. He handed it to Toran, just as Marnek and Solusek had hoped, and the wand exploded, instantly incinerating the ship and everyone aboard, and lighting up the night sky with a giant fireball. Marnek's plan had succeeded. With the help and blessing of the Burning Prince, they had destroyed Sir Toran and an entire squad of Prexus' finest paladins. Years later, though, the paladins were able to regroup and ultimately defeat Marnek. The wand of the Burning Dead was destroyed and gone forever. Or least, that's what we thought. This wand must never be allowed to be made whole again.'

Marnek's wand is the Blackened Wand (identifies as "Marnek's Wand"), dropped by Priest Amiaz in Befallen (-487.77, 89.39, -76.61). The Sapphire of Souls is the Blackened Sapphire (identifies as "Sapphire of Souls"), dropped by Ekeros in Najena (-161, -47, -22). Bring them back along with your Orange Sash of Order. You'll need to be at least kindly faction to Ashen Order to finish the quest.

Reyia Beslin says 'Great job, ______! Congratulations. With the destruction of these evil items, the wand of the Burning Dead will never bring harm to anyone on Norrath again. It is my honor to present to you, on behalf of Master Closk and the Ashen Order, the red sash. May Quellious be with you always.'

You receive the Red Sash of Order.

Need missing dialogues, /loc of quest mobs, current faction hits.

The sashes/headbands are not NO DROP, i got my human friend to hand in all the items for the sash and headband, yea i guess i waited a bit too long to do it, but yet it went by fast, all i need is the blackened wand and i got my Robe the lost circle.

I've completed this quest 3 times with monk friends. Ekeros seems to be on a half hour spawn cycle with the occasional half hour passing with a PH instead. Befallen is the mind-numbingly boring part hes on a 20 minute cycle but More often than not Doesn't show - other quest mobs do though. 3 in room pops, necro alcolytes, greater skellies, ghouls. And Lindo Jinglebelly (or something like that) in the room next door that gives some quest I can't seem to decipher.

It's been suggested Ekeros spawns about once every fourth spawn cycle, which is about 15 minutes per cycle. This is not necessarily the case. I spent 5 hours in Najena hunting and waiting for Ekeros to spawn to no avail.

My guild were amazed at the rarity of this spawn, considering the quest item in question is not of particular value, until I explained that it's part of the progression for the Monk Epic quest. Unfortunately, Ekeros never did spawn while we were raiding the Najena.

I wonder if there isn't perhaps a place holder for Ekeros that hasn't been mentioned. Any ideas?

Near Rathly you must kill the Magician in the corner of the Adjacent cell, she is PH. Hes about 1 in 5 or 6. That room is commonly camped by mages working on epic, most mages give that thing away if they get it (I do)

The ONLY way to do these quests are to get your faction at high amiable by killing lots of orcs. After getting your faction you should do the white sash quest about 40 times. Im am considered an ally with the monks of FP and an ally to North FP. Another little secret is to get a druid to sneak you into Qeynos and turn you into a wolf and do the first part of the bard quest becuase there is NO zoning involved. I am also an ally with all bards. YOu also get faction with Guards of Qeynos and Treefolk<druids>.

    Hope this helped.

My 19th Iksar monk, (dubiously to FPmilitia and Ally to Monks [hit that on my first yellow sash] ) got to Dubiously with the milita without wolf form after 28-39 belts and the monks were still glaring (1 up from scowls and 1 from Dubiously) I got a wolf form up to indifferent. About 100 orcs later (a younger Iksar monk I was grouped with got the belts) and 1 more wolf form I was amiable. 56 white sashes in Wolf form took me to ally status, I was only warmly as an Iksar. Then I come back from Gfay and Crushbone do a Yellow sash and faction went up to 'Reqards you as an Ally'. Now that I got my orange sash ( and white/yellow/orange on a human monk mule) I need to get my next shackle...

If a monk lost his sash from dying and not being able to recover his body. Can he start these quests over?
    RE: Lost Sash
    # May 18 2001 at 8:39 PM Rating: Decent
yes you may start them over but it may be a little embarising to have someone at a high lvl hunting orc pawns
    What lvl?
    # May 06 2001 at 11:36 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I got the orange sash at lvl 6-7 even though it said for 12, what lvl do you have to be to get the red sash (I dont think I can wait till lvl 25)?

Is there anyway for an iksar to get his Red Sash without doing a lot of faction? Basically I mean I'd get the components, give them to a human monk friend, then he'd go in and get the Red Sash and give it to me. Do you have to do the previous quests? Or can you just do this one right away? Also are the items needed to get the Red Sash no drop?

    # Jun 10 2001 at 10:54 AM Rating: Default
You need to hand in the last sash with the items to get the next one.
In this case it would be the purple sash along with all the lore, NO DROP items

I just did this quest and the belts are white, yellow, orange then red. There is no purple sash plus all items involed are NOT no drop but I can't remember which were lore.

Well, there actually IS a Purple Sash, BUT you apparently have to defeat an Ashen Order guildmaster type to get one. Unlike the Purple Headband, no quest for the Purple Sash of Order has yet been discovered.

To advance beyond the Red Sash of Order to the Purple, Blue or Black sashes, you have to pry them from the cold, dead fingers of one of the monks hanging out at the Ashen Order; to advance beyond the Purple Headband to the Blue or Black headbands, you have to loot them off of the monks at the Silent Fist Clan.

I have not yet gone after any of these, as my monk is too low and would get creamed trying it, but I looked into all of the sashes/headbands (all of which are also listed here on Allakhazam) when I started out on these quests, and so I cannot personally confirm any of the details.

As far as I'm aware the main reason for doing all the sash and headband quests is that they are needed to do the Robe of Whirling Fists quest. Agreed that the actual hedbands and sashes are quite poor, particularly as they have no AC value.
    I could be wrong though.

the final headbands and sashes are used to get the robe of the lost circle, which is then used to get the robe of the WHISTLING fists, and is later used to get the celestial fists (our epic).

As for why the quests for the belt are worth it or not, I compare it with martial arts in real life. While in real life one does not go off aquiring varied body parts of creatures to gain new belts, the core dedication and persistance is still there. It is a simple matter of determination and dedication to the art. The fact that the belts hold special qualities and are needed for further more powerful items is a bonus beyond the accomplishment in my view.

    # Nov 07 2000 at 10:37 AM Rating: Default
I have camped the Priest two times, in the same night, thanks to the server crashing immediately after I got the blackened wand. The first time we were bored so cleared the entire level of befallen behind the secret door. It seemed like within the hour of doing that both the Thaumaturgist and Priest appeared. The second time we camped, we figured lets just wait around and he'll pop that fast again. No such luck, however, once we got bored four hours later and killed everything again, the priest popped. To add to my belief the rare spawns will pop quicker if the area is all dead, another monk came down after we left, and he just kept the whole area cleared behind the secret door. Within thirty minutes he gave me a tell saying how he just got both the dagger from the thaum and the wand from the priest. I have heard of certain things spawning quicker if the whole part of the zone they reside is killed, so I think maybe this might help in making the Priest appear faster.

maybe it's just me, but the red headband/sash are REALLY hard. The mobs aren't too tough, but they are either rare or hunted often. it took me weeks to get the red headband and only about 3 days to get the purple headband. i wear the headbands out of pride mostly, they really do suck considering the work needed to get them.

If you're doing these quests for anything but faction or for the future Robes, then there's really no need to do them anyway. I've done all except this, and I have one part for the robe already

It seems difficult and not worth it to get this. I have gotten my orange sash for my monk and I dont' think I will get this one because it just isn't worth it in my opinion.

I believe you are thinking of the Highest Sashes, they are not avalable from quests but you can get one better than purple from killing Erin Phrinsnip(not spelled right). He is the highest monk in Qeynos anyways

The sapphire is actually the Blackened Sapphire and not "darkened". It looks like an ice cream cone when held (+5 mana, +3 Sta). Ekeros is a rare spawn in Najena.

I usually call the Blackened Sapphire "The Nuclear Sno-Cone". IT looks like a Sno-Cone (the summer kid's treat in the US) and glows with a purple light, so it fits. ;-)

While hunting the DE magicians for objects for the magician focus quests I found that Ekeros spawned about every 3rd or 4th round. Each spawn cycle was about 15 min. He's not really rare as he comes every few rounds...just have to wait until it's his turn.
