Got it today off the Druid vendor in WC for 1pp... Arrived there with 0 cash and was looking for Willows to make some quick cash and of course they were all burned out. took me a while to get the 1pp (should have just run to the bank) and was convinced it would be gone by now, but it was still there, so I bought it for my little monk... :)

although Eliki has agood point about the states on the sashes i still got to rat is as a BAD!!!! subject. The sash are not really ment for states it's for a quest after quest after quest, Until it comes to a stop. (Epic)So you can winny all you like but in the in it's all worth it the epic has some GREAT I MEAN GREAT states.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 19 2003 at 8:37 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) They're called "stats" or "statistics", not 'states'. Just wanted to clear that up becasue you sounded kind of dumb.

I only have 3k atm, so I cant get FBSS for a while :p I will probably get knuckle dusters first...

I am an Iksar monk, lvl 11 (I am twinked from my 32 cleric) and I have to say, even though I have some nice stuff like my two forest loops, I am most proud of my shackle of stone, because I quested for it myself. I wear that shackle with pride, and even though I have a second PBB that I can wear, I don't want to lose my identity as an Iksar monk, who helped the Court of Pain, and is wearing a disciple symbol of her class and race for hard effort, not wheeling and dealing.

I love the sash quests, I am sorry I cant do them, but in my opinion, VI scored with sash/shackle quests. Great way to get xp with kills, learn more about how quests work, get xp turning the stuff in, looking forward to something, taking pride in something you earned yourself, and getting more xp for turning it in. /Cheer for Verant on this line of quests.

The good news is that even as an Iksar, You CAN do these quests. The bad news is it takes an INCREDIBLE amount of faction work. Until last night, I had both the purple headband and the red sash, which I earned. Then I sold them :( I MUST HAVE BEEN ON CRACK!!! <sigh> Oh well, gotta do it all again.

Have to get Ashen Order up to amiable to be able to do their quests. That translates to about 1100-1200 deathfist orcs for an iksar. You don't actually have to kill them, just have to hit them (or even try to and miss) and then have them die by anyone except an NPC. Often, I'd just go to an already-camped orc camp in EC and kick (since this is my weakest attack) any orc that the group there was going to kill. They'd still get the experience and loot, but I'd get the faction hit anyway.

To get amiable faction with the Silent Fist (qeynos monks) just do the same thing to the Sabertooth Gnolls in Blackburrow, and will take about as many (actually slightly less, since Silent Fists are agnostic, they only hate iksar becauce of their race, they don't care that you worship Cazic-Thule, so you have a slightly higher initial faction, although you still start at ready to attack, won't take as long to get to dubious).

Anyway, mamaged to get the first three sashes without having to kill a single mob, just browsed the merchants in Freeport for the items. Had to auction for the Legionnaire bracer though, paid 10pp for it; the bracer isn't nearly worth that much, but I was more concerned about saving time instead of money. Had to go into Najena (still had the keys from going in there to get the Black Tome for my enchanter) and Befallen for the red sash items. Befallen was actually harder, had to face the thaumaturgist and Priest Amiaz at the same time, came close to dying in there, despite the fact they were both green. But I also got the Dagger of Marnek out of it, one of the items I'll need for the Silent Fists' purple headband.

Wearing this sash proudly until I can afford an FBSS! By then, I'll probably be ready to turn this in anyway for the Robe of the Lost Circle.
Monk Attitude
# Jun 29 2001 at 1:33 PM Rating: Decent
A monk is someone who has given up their search for worldly posessions, to take up the perfection of body and soul. Hence, we don't need Lewt to be happy. If you want the neatest, biggest weapons, be a Paladin. If you want treasure, be a Rogue, or a Druid selling your Sow and Port. If, however, you want to be the best, be a monk, and do the quest.

They should at least make all the sashes nodrop. People are now selling these when they either delete their account, or some lazy high level monk wants to start their epic and is offering more kpp then the quest is worth. I don't see someone wearing these as "a certain pride" if it can be bought in EC. Most people like to roleplay the "Flowing Black Silk Sash" as a true Black Belt sense more monks use it and the haste is worth wearing vs. quest sashes. My 2 cents..

I definitely agree.. make it no drop, someone accused my monk of buying my orange sash/headband since i had them at lvl 9. I quested for them myself, and no i didn't use my ranger to do it. Of course the guy didn't say anything derogatory about buying them.. he just asked who i bought it from, then didn't believe me later. Ah well.. i still wear them with a sense of pride, but i'd like it a lot more if they were no drop.

I have a lvl 7 monk, and I have the orange sash. All it takes is getting your offense skills and your defense as high as they can go. A lot of luck, and determination. (Plus the friendly druids/clerics/and shamans willing to practice buffing)

These sashs may not be that good at low lvls but like the iksar shackles they are a status symbol. If u have 1 of these as a monk it says something and gives a aura to you.

Its not the stats that give you that warm fuzzy feeling after completing all the quests by yourself. There's a certain pride to actually earning the quest items and playing the game as it was ment to be played, rather than having level 50 gear just handed to you at level 1.
lame...?
# Jan 11 2001 at 12:06 AM Rating: Default
Am I the only one who thinks these sash quests are lame? I mean... by the time you could go thru the loops to get this sash, you could have saved a bit of loot cash and bought 2 serpentine bracers.
I do like the way they go in a chain, one leading to the next, but I must say up until the mistical blue purple and black sash's, the rewards are fairly lame.

On a slightly different note, I think VI should introduce a weapon that looks like a true bo stick, meaning a 3 or 4 foot long stick like a piece of dowel. the clubs that are bulbous looking (like the wintry club I use...) look quite dorky and unrealistic for a monk weapon. I also the gem encrusted look of fighting batons is ridiculous... how about something that looks like a cut off magic staff (the kind with a gem in the top...)?? or something a bit different.

opps I made a mistake..(didn't know how to repley until now)anyways like i said before the sash r not for states it's for quest upon quest until it comes to a stop (epic) So u can winny and do whatever u what but in the end its all worth it, if u do it right anyways

LVL!!! 17monk (human) i have the orange sash working on the other sash going to get the all!!!. MITH MARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEACE Y'ALL!!!!

Lame or not, the sashes (and the headbands) are part of the Monk Epic Quest, so if you are intending to do it you don't have much choise....

I agree with Mr. Theodwyn. Also when your relatively low level around 12-13 the orange sash is a pretty good waste slot and it's free.

Dont flame me for this, but, If you do not wish to do the sash or headband quests for your epic.
You can just put the boot in on Quinn or Zephyl, get a couple of groups 55+ and kill one or tother, they both drop RotLC, EVERY TIME. even when it looks like their not wearing it!

They added that method in for roleplaying reasons. Many iksar monks would no think it to be in character to kiss up the monks of a hated race, but should still have a way to get the epic.

I personally like the friendlier way. I like getting on the good side of the human monks, but most iksar wouldn't. However, you can get the Robe of the Lost Circle at a significant lower level by questing for it than by killing these human monks. That, and the way I choose to RP my character, means I'd rather take the long road. I am prudly wearing my red sash at the moment, at my level I can afford to sacrifice the ac on better belts for a tiny boost in stats, and until I can acquire or buy a FBSS or turn in the belt for the quest, I'll wear this. Not many iksar monks have earned the respect of the human monks as well as the iksar monks, I like being one of the proud few.
