Under quests, please add +100 Ashen Order for new human monks starting in Freeport and handing in the "Tattered Note" to Puab Closk:
(1) In the character creation process, start a new human monk.
(2) Select Deity: Quellious.
(3) Select City: West Freeport.
(4) De-press the "Tutorial" Button so that the button is out/convex.
(5) Type in a long name.
(6) Click the Enter World button.
(7a) The character will spawn in West Freeport with a "Tattered Note" in inventory.
(7b) The character will spawn facing Puab Closk.
(8) Give the "Tattered Note" to Puab Closk to receive the following faction increases:
+100 Ashen Order

Qeynos is also a zone you can raise faction with them. While doing the headband quests in North Qeynos you get +5 faction per turn in. If you can get enough gnoll pup scalps you could turn a bunch of them in at a time and help raise your faction.

Can you paste some logs of the faction hits you got for each quest?

Numeric Faction

A couple people mentioned numeric values for their faction "p100, gaining 125 or 150 or so," and I was wondering if anyone would mind explaining how I could go about checking that. Seems like a better way to measure progress than the arbitrary "amiable, dubious, etc". I realize this is an old thread, but...worth a shot. :)

Well I've taken faction from amiable to Warmly (Max faction for iksar monk with Silent fists) via the headband quests, I went over to Freeport and found that I am still Threateningly to the Ashen order. After 3 hours at orc 1 in EC I am still threateningly but now have everything to finnish my sash quest but the blackened wand. I think I'll rescue "Tomer Instogle" a few doezen times and see what that does for my faction... Ashen Order is going to be a pain.

Lvl 51 Iksar monk I spend 4 hours in BB last night killing gnolls I had a loop around the etite area, by the time I finnshed the loop I would have to wait about 30 seconds for the gnolls to start respawning. After 3 hours I went out and checked faction I was still threat to the city guards, so I decided to gather gnoll pup scalps in the newbie zone for a while BB was boering by now. I gatheread 44 gnoll pup scalps and had mamaged to go to dub with city guards, I checked monk faction and I was at app. I tried sneeking to turn in scalps, no good have to be amiable to do quest, So I went to Qeynos hills and gathered the rib bones I needed, then went back to BB to kill more gnolls and get the BB pelts and BB skin I would need. After one more Hour I had gotteh the pelts and skin. I went back and found I ws amiable to monks I turned in 40 pup scalps (10 quest completes) then did 2nd and 3rd quests and found I was now at kindly considers to Silent fists. and 5 minutes from server down for patch... once I finnish out the Qeynos quests I'll update and tell how my FP faction is... No illusions/wolf form was used at any time durring this I was an Iksar the entire time.
A twist on old ideas.....

I appriciate all the posts about getting this faction up. As an Iksar Monk, its very good info to have. but one thing I dont seem to be noticing anyone mentioning is having all the compenents for the whole Sash series ready when you get to the point of being able to WolfForm to do the quests. That way you get hit with WF once and you take care of it all right then. Or is there something I am missing?

Thanks for reading!
My plan for faction
# Jul 23 2002 at 9:43 AM Rating: Decent
Well it's been established that killing orcs increases AO faction and killing gnolls increases Silent Fist faction. Killing gnolls in BB would seem to be slightly easier since they are contained versus having to run around the Commons finding Orcs or killing an Orc Camp repeatedly when it only has 6 or so orcies. And BB is more plentiful in numbers too.
Now if you'll note, doing the sash quests increases both AO and SF faction and likewise, doing the headband quests increases both SF and AO faction.
Here's what I am gonna try however:
I am going to kill gnolls til the burrow turns red with their blood. Then i'll kill some more and some more. Once my faction is decent with SF to where I can do the White Headband Quest (possibly with wolf form and maybe a good ench CHA buff (not sure if that will help), I am going to do the quest about 50 times and thereby raise both factions simultaneously. Yeah that's like 200 gnoll pup scalps but I can kill em easy with one hit of the attack key (like most people) or I will just /auction to buy the darn things and help out some newbs at the same time. Besides i'd rather get 200 pup scalps than have to worry about pawn scalps AND snake fangs AND chips (snakes and skellies don't help faction either). Will update after. Be safe.

P.S. I apologise in advance to all the peops that are gonna be in BB over the next couple days as I won't be leaving too many G'noll G'nasties to be had.
Faction Gaining

Bottoming out on faction with what you are killing DOES NOT stop faction changes for the other factions those mobs give.

Example: when i bottomed out on faction for BB gnolls, i was dubious to Silent Fists. I continued killing gnolls for about 4 more hours, with bottomed out gnoll faction, and i am now amiable.

Therefore DO NOT DESPAIR. when you have bottomed out, just keep killing as your factions will still raise.

Started an Ashen Order monk on the FV server (where TLC still applies), proceeded to complete the sash quests through Orange, and then traveled to North Qeynos to get the headbands. My Ashen Order faction at the time I left for Qeynos was Amiable.

After completing the Orange headband, and also rescuing Tomer a dozen or so times, I hit Ally with Silent Fist Clan.

Now, since those quests with Silent Fist Clan also raise Ashen Order faction at the same time, I am surprised to return to West Freeport and find that I am still just short of Ally with the Ashen Order.

Not a big deal, but something that struck me as odd. Must be some sort of weighting system in use. Anyone know?
up to date on AO faction

I sucessfully completed my questing for AO (ashen order) faction tonight. Turning in belts to either the militia or warriors guild neither lowers or raises faction... dont believe me? The EQ manuel states that the AO is neutral between both the militia and NFP factions. Still dont believe me? Grab 3 DF belts and turn 1 into the militia and 2 into the warrior guild... and if you see "your faction with AshenOrder...." anything, then flame on =) Orcs in the commons is just about your best bet. Kill, Kill, Kill, and when your tired of killing.... kill 250 more and you'll be 1/2 way done. Myself, being an iksar, I killed for 5 straight hours... made about 300p in DF belts, and got myself non-kos to everyone in freeport (save the casters guild). Now... non-kos isnt enough to do a sash quest with the AO. You "need" high amiable or better. Once you're dubious, get a nice druid to wolf-form you... yes, then live only to port, sow, and wolf-form everyone in norrath =) then go to the quest giver and sneak. Once you successfully sneak, you'll be right about where you should be. Then get bone chips, pawn scalps, and snake fangs by the truck full. And turn in 2 scalps, 1 bone, and 1 fang until you're boared with that... then do the quest about 30 more times. Im now lvl 25 and am non-kos to about 3/4 of the cities in Norrath. I still need Kael, Skyshrine, Ogguk, and Grobb. Not bad for an iksar, eh =)

I long ago got enuf faction to be able to do the quests and even got my treant fists. Now however I find my ashen order faction is down to kindly. What could I have done to lower it? I havent done any militia quests and I havent killed any npcs. The only npc I have killed is Brother Zephyl for the robe. Could killing him actually lower ashen order faction? There is no faction listed for him anywhere.
How do I find numeric faction level?

I've been killing orcs for what seems like ages now, but amiable seems to be the wall I've hit with the Ashen Order. How does one know when they've bottomed out faction?

As I stated in the post below, you have to be in upper mid amiable stats before you can run this quest.

The easiest wa for an Iksar is to kill kill kill and kill as many orcs as you can until you can get high dubious with Ashen Order.

One you get high dubious, a wolf form will be able to take you up into amiable to the needed faction to run the quest. Once you can run the quest, never zone ( you loose wolf form while zoning ) and run the quest atleast ( no less ) than 40+ times. It will boost you into Kindly and even Warmly ( depending on your starting faction ) thus allowing you to run the quest w/out the requirement of wolf form ;)

Human Monks from Freeport start out at p100 faction with Ashen Oder ( AO ). In order to do the quest, you need aprox 125 or even 150 faction plus. Another words - you have to kill orcs to get enough faction to *prove* yourself worthy for the sash.

One way to do this w/out faction work for humans is to get a worlf form. The monkeys like wolves, and will post you FAR above the needed faction for the quest ;)
Increase Faction

I bottomed out my faction with the freeport militia, and read where you have to let whatever creature you want to gain faction with kill you, so I walked up to a guard and let him kill me, went back and did more quests and poof faction raised.. Can't promise this will work for your problem.. but it worked for me

ok i have been hunting faction for these guys i know to kill deathfist orcs. but lets just say the Ashen order is less than friendly with me. i bottomed out BB gnolls for silent fist & it only took me up to indiffernet(can't do their quests) i assume i'll run into same problem with the ashen order once DF orcs is bottomed out? any ideas on how to get past indifferent?

To my knowledge, ALL orcs in the Commonlands give positive faction for the Ashen order.
