Full Walkthrough

You say, 'Hail Tomekeeper Dahl'

Tomekeeper Danl says 'Good day, citizen. Please remember to keep your voice down in our library. Feel free to browse the extensive collection of books we have on display. Learning is all about you and our library is the greatest collection of educational literature in the world, as you can no doubt see. However, there are a few books we do not own and we are prepared to pay well to acquire [rare finds].

You say, 'What rare finds?'

Tomekeeper Danl says 'Yes, any rare books, tomes, essays, or other literature you find may be of interested to me. Although the finds I am interested in are quite high profile and would most likely only be found in the possession of very powerful or influential beings. Give me what you have found and I will pay you what it is worth to us.

The book he requires is called 'Immortals', which can be found on various named mobs in Skyfire (Guardian of Felia, A Lava Walker, A Wandering Wurm, Black Scar, Faerie of Dismay).

Give Tomekeeper Danl the book of Immortals and get this response:

Tomekeeper Danl gasps at the sight of the rare book and says, 'This is a great find indeed! I can only imagine who you had to.. persuade to give you the book. Our library would be very interested in acquiring this and I am prepared to give you this platinum and a referral that marks you as a friend of the library. If only [Lheao] could see this.'

You say, 'Who is Lheao?'

Tomekeeper Danl says 'Lheao was my predecessor here at the Library of Erudin. He has since retired, just a few years ago. I'm sure he would be most impressed with your find and offer insightful conversation on the subject. Although I'm not sure one of your profession would be interested in such a scholarly endeavor, no offense. If you are interested, find him and tell him you found the book 'Immortals.' I'm not sure where he has retired to, but I hear it is near an ocean somewhere.

He gives you a piece of paper called Danl's Reference.

Before continuing on, you will need to complete the following quests in this order:

Red Sash of Order (required to get the Robe of the Lost Circle)
Monk Purple Headband (required to get the Robe of the Lost Circle)
Monks of the Whistling Fists (to obtain the Robe of the Lost Circle, which is required to get the Robe of the Whistling Fists)
The Lost Circle (to obtain the Robe of the Whistling Fists, which is required in the next part of the monk epic)

Next, head to the hidden oasis in Timorous Deep. Once there, speak to Lheao.

You say, 'Hail Lhaeo'

Lheao jumps at your voice and begins laughing at his skittishness. He says, 'Ahh, hello there. Not many people know of this place, so visitors are quite rare. Hehehe. It's a very beautiful place indeed, so, ummm, please don't go telling everyone you know about it. Heheh. Thanks, friend.'

You say, 'I have found the book Immortals'

Lheao looks up at you, eyes wide in astonishment, and says, 'My god, you found 'Immortals'?! Where did you find it? Never mind, that is unimportant. I have in my possession a book that explains more about these individuals. Its value is unimaginable as well as the impact it is capable of. As you can see, I grow old. I need an individual to watch over this book and make sure it is protected. Would you be willing to [take this responsibility]?'

You say, 'I will take this responsibility'

Lheao says 'I'm sorry, but I could only give this book to a true master, such as a member of the Whistling Fists Order. And unless you can give me proof that you are one, in addition to Danl's reference, which is very unlikely, there is no way I'll let you take charge of [the Celestial Fists].

You say, 'What Celestial Fists?'

Lheao says 'The Celestial Fists is the title of a book written by an unknown author. His writing is sub par but the legend is interesting from a biographical standpoint alone. Its rarity commands top dollar in the scholarly community but the secrets revealed in the book are what truly makes it dangerous. I've thought many times to destroy it but just couldn't. I hope I'm able to find someone to watch over it soon.

Hand in the Robe of the Whistling Fists and Danl's Reference to get this response:

Lheao says 'Astonishing! To think that you are a master of an order thought to be lost to our world. Forgive my earlier doubts. I believe you are indeed worthy to be given the responsibility of watching over this book. Take great care that it does not fall into the wrong hands as it would be truly disastrous.

The Celestial Fists Book is illegible.

Now head to Trakanon's Teeth and find an NPC named Kaiaren. He is located at Loc -1609, -2679, in the undead ruins.

You say, 'Hail Kaiaren'

Kaiaren says, "AHHH get it away from me go away .. leave me alone".

You say, 'What Celestial Fists?'

Kaiaren says 'Eh? What's that? Bah! That was destroyed long ago. Don't waste my time with fairy taAAAAAGGHHH GET IT AWAY!!!! HELP!!! They're all over MEHEHEHEHEEEEEEee!!

Hand the book "Celestial Fists" to Kaiaren, you will get the Celestial Fists book back and get this response:

Kaiaren's eyes open wide and he attacks you!

If you kill him, you'll get the response, 'Not bad.. Now lets see if you can find my trueform if you do we discuss this further.'

However it is not necessary to kill him. You can just Feign Death to eliminate his aggro.

Now go out and find Kaiaren's true form, which spawned when you gave the book to the angry form. This version is also called Kaiaren, and spawns at approximately +300, +2400 in a building next to the lake. He is indifferent to all.

When you hand him the book, he says the following:

(NOTE: The book you handed in was called "Celestial Fists." The book you get back is called "Book of Celestial Fists." Do NOT hand this book in yet, as he will also be expecting an item you have not yet obtained.)

Kaiaren says 'Now, then. Where did you find this, monk? This is not just some light reading to be borrowed from the town library. Who gave this to you?

You say, 'I got it from Lheao'

Kaiaren says 'Hmmm, never heard of him. Well, it doesn't matter, the book is here now. Curse that idiot for writing it in the first place. Not even sure why I let him stick around. If you ever see that clown monk Aradiel kick him in the shins for me! At any rate, I suppose you'd like to find the Fists and [have a nice chat with them], eh? Their master owes me much. I would reward you well if you were to bring me proof of the master's defeat'

You say, 'I would like to have a nice chat with them'

Kaiaren says 'Yes, I suppose you would. All you children looking for fame and glory will eventually learn the poison of ambition. But how will you find them? They are able to meld with their elements seamlessly and they certainly have no interest in fooling with the likes of you. No, you will need to get their attention. Fortunately, I know [how you can do this].

You say, 'How can I do this?'

Kaiaren says, 'My guess is that the weakest of the Fists will be the easiest to draw out. He is egotistical and arrogant. How he came to master the Discipline of Fire, I do not know. He will most likely be in another form, one of his element. When you find the one you believe to be the Fist, you must challenge him. If you use his true name, Eejag, in your formal challenge, he will respond. A flame can burn intensely but it cannot last for long. Know this when you battle him.

At this point, head on over to the Lavastorm Mountains with a group and find an imp named "A Fire Sprite" and say "I challenge Eejag." There will be a shout to the zone (if no shout, it means Eejag is already up):

Eejag shouts, "What imbecile dares challenges a Celestial Fist?! Do you even know who you are challenging? HA! You are nothing but an insect! I will enjoy crushing you, I have not charred the flesh of an idiot in decades! If you truly wish to fight me, the battle shall be held in my own element. Come, challenger, come down to the pits of flowing fire."

Head over to the fire pit by the entrances to Sol A and Sol B. Under the middle smoke plume, about half way down, you'll see Eejag (an Iksar) swimming. He cannot be pulled so you'll have to fight him where he is -- in the lava.

Once killed, he drops a Charred Scale.

Head back to Trakanon's Teeth and hand the Charred Scale to the true form of Kaiaren. The scale is returned to you, and you get the following:

Kaiaren says 'Ahhh, impressive indeed! Now that you have broken the chain of the Fists, the others may come toppling down if you persevere. The Fist of Air is now the weakest, then Earth, and finally Water before the master of them all, Vorash. You must defeat them in order, proving the demise of the last to draw out the one you are after. The task before you now is to take this scale and show it to the Fist of Air wherever he may be. Good luck.

Now head up to the Plane of Sky and find an NPC named "A Presence" on Noble Dojorn's island. It is in the form of a shadowman so only the name is visible.

Hand the Charred Scale over to the Presence and get this response:

a presence says 'Hahaha! That dolt Eejag fell to the likes of you? I'm not surprised. So, I guess this means you're here to challenge me. Normally, I wouldn't waste my time, but since you've defeated my younger brother, I suppose I'm obligated. I'm ready when you are, tell me when you're [prepared].

The Presence will despawn and a Human monk named Gwan appears in his place. Telling him 'I am prepared' causes him to attack (or do it the old fashioned way by engaging him first).

(NOTE: Gwan procs Fist of Air which can knock you backwards. This can be dangerous if you're too close to the island's edge.)

Once dead, loot the "Breath of Gwan" and go directly to the Mines of Nurga to find a sleeping ogre. He's KOS so you may have to have an enchanter charm him for this next part.

Once you're ready for a fight, hand him the Breath of Gwan to get this response:

a sleeping ogre says 'Your path of wanton destruction ends here. Gwan and Eejag were impatient and hot-headed. You will not defeat me, for I have the patience and perseverance of stone, unlike the children you have beaten before me. Are you sure you want to challenge me?

He won't give you a chance to respond. Trunt, a 59th level KOS ogre will immediately spawn and attack. He is immune to magic and a tougher fight than the previous ones.

He drops Trunt's Head.

Take the head to Lake Rathe and find a 58th level dark elf named Deep who lives in the lake. Hand Trunt's Head to her to get the following:

Deep slowly opens her eyes and looks up at you. She stares at you a long while and then closes her eyes and lowers her head again, saying, 'Very well, if you wish death so greatly, we will be happy to oblige. My master projects part of himself in the wilder lands known as the Overthere. He has granted you an audience. Find him and show him the head of our earth brother. At that point, we will discuss how we will end your life.

Deep despawns immediately and you get the Head of Trunt back.

Head to the Overthere, and find Astral Projection in the bottom of the scorpion chasm at +3830, -3545. He does not need to be fought.

Hand Trunt's Head over and get the following response:

Astral Projection looks up and down and says, 'Hmmm, I was hoping for something more impressive. This is just a small token of the last person who tried to interfere with my plans. He failed as you shall. But tell me truly, are you the one who has so rudely removed my students?'

You say, 'Yes'

Astral Projection says 'I assume you have read about us and spoken with the old man, Kaiaren. Since that time, I have grown in power and influence to a point unseen by any mortal. Unfortunately, I will have to demonstrate a small amount of my skill when I destroy you. This is bad. I must decide whether you are worthy to see the techniques I wield, even though you will die shortly thereafter. Tell me, who are you?

You say, 'I am the one'

Astral Projection chuckles and says, 'That's quite a boast. All beings strive for nothingness at the most basic level of sentience. However, almost none ever achieve this. Not even I have discarded my ego yet and you stand here and tell me you have? Perhaps you will be a worthy opponent. I shall be waiting in the great lake near here. Take that token as proof of things to come for you. If you still wish to throw your life away so needlessly, return it to my image there. I await your decision.'

He will give you an Eye of Kaiaren and then despawn.

Now head to the Lake of Ill Omen for the final fight of the monk epic. You can find Astral Projection (same form as the Overthere version) on the platform in the lake itself at +765, +860.

When you give the Eye of Kaiaren to the Astral Projection, he despawns. Deep and Vorash will then both spawn, and are very much KOS.

Deep procs Fist of Water, and hits for 170ish. Vorash procs Fist of Mastery, which is a DD and a stun, and hits for around the same as Deep.

Both Deep and Vorash have no items.

Once killed, Vorash says 'Foolish mortal! You think you have defeated me? Now, witness the true power of Rallos Zek!

Xenevorash will then spawn on the platform, regardless of where Vorash dies.

Xenevorash procs Fist of Sentience which is a 500DD and a stun, and hits for 250.

Once he is killed, his death message is:

Xenevorash's corpse shouts 'Grraaaagghhhh!! NOT.. POSSIBLE!

He drops a Demon's Fang.

Finally, head back to Trakanon's Teeth and hand Kaiaren (either form) the Demon's Fang and the "Book of Celestial Fists."

Kaiaren bows his head and breathes a long sigh as if relived of a great weight. He then looks up at you and says, 'I honestly did not believe you could have defeated Vorash. Even though he sought nothing but war and bloodshed, it is a life nonetheless and we must mourn him. I will sew these fangs into magical fist wraps and they shall be yours. Remember Xenevorash. A purpose can be found for every situation and individual. To achieve perfection is to perceive this truth.'

You receive the Celestial Fists.

Changes to Monk Epic Quest

Upcoming changes (as of this writing) to the Monk Epic

February 2021
- Monk Epic changes:
- - Increased the chance for Targin the Rock from 5 percent to 15 percent and Raster of Guk from 2 percent to 10 percent.
- - Brother Zephyl, Brother Qwinn, Ran'un, Brother Velan Torresk, and Thena Lonnes have grown in strength. They are much more dangerous. Also, persons killing these folks will be greatly disliked by monk factions.

For those curious about the exact changes regarding these NPCs, the monks in Freeport "Thena Lonnes" and "Ran'un" are both now level 55 (up from 35) hit for approximately 100dmg (up from around 30) and have approximately 20k HP (up from around 500). These are the monks that drop the Red Sash of Order.

I did notice a significant difference in the strength of the "Brother" NPCs.

Faction hit for killing any of them is now -500 Ashen Order.

Mess up final turn-in? Don't panic!

So, on Ragefire, since I've never done the Monk epic 1.0, I decided to run mine through it all.

And, of course, I mess up the final turn-in. I give (Mad) Kaiaren both the book and the Demon Fangs, he gives me the book back, but keeps the Fangs. (Sane) Kairen had popped, so, I thought I'd give it a shot, and ran to him and gave him the book. He basically said thanks and have a nice day.

Yes, minor panic set in (I really didn't want to camp the pipes again)!

I went off raiding with my guild and on a whim popped into Trak's Teeth afterwards. (Sane) Kaiaren was still up. So, I went back and re-did the final steps to get the Fangs, starting in Lavastorm. I got it all finished, turned in the Fangs to (Sane) Kaiaren and he gave me the epic.

(Sane) Kaiaren remained up for at least 2 hours after I messed up the initial turn-in.

So, don't panic. Just re-do the final steps and go get your epic.

At the point mentioned below, the following should be added either before or after the line with Red Sash of order:
Monk Purple Headband (required to get the Robe of the Lost Circle)

Before continuing on, you will need to complete the following quests in this order:

Red Sash of Order (required to get the Robe of the Lost circle)
Monks of the Whistling Fists (to obtain the Robe of the Lost Circle, which is required to get the Robe of the Whistling Fists)
The Lost Circle (to obtain the Robe of the Whistling Fists, which is required in the next part of the monk epic)
Another quest not mentioned that needs done.

There's a post from around 2012 that mentions if the lowbie char loots Trunt's head and does the turn-ins from there, then Kaiaren will accept the Demon's Fang.

This is false. I just tried it. He hands it back without saying a word.

Decided to do my monk epic. Im super lazy so, i camped Brother Z. Took about a week of maybe 12 total hours of camping to get the Robe of Lost Circles. Another day to get both idols. Used invis vs undead and Fd for the final turn in. Skipped the headband and sash jazz completely. Rest of the quest is hand in kill hand in kill hand in kill. After the initial setup which you may have better luck then me. Less then 3 days of total hours involved
Monk Epic 1.0 Preamble
# Aug 11 2015 at 11:28 AM Rating: Decent
Before you start your monk epic you must be made aware that you need the Robe of the Whistling Fist. However, there are a series of quests that you must complete in succession in order to obtain it.

The headband and sash quest items are a series of chain quests that upgrade the items as you progress. In order to keep this post short I have decided to not list the details for these quests since they are mostly low level - the only real enemy you will encounter is RNG on spawn and drop rates. The culmination of the quest chains: The Red Sash of Order and the Purple Headband are needed for the first robe combine and cannot be skipped. In the past, you were able to kill guildmasters for some of the items but I think that is no longer the case. Depending on your race / deity combo you may need to do some extra work on your faction in order to progress onto the next step in the chain*. If this is the case look up the faction for quests and or/or npc's you can kill in order to raise your faction. Steps 1 and 2 can be done simultaneously.

====================================================================
Step1: Red Sash of Order
White Training Sash QL1 > Yellow Sash of Order QL8 > Orange Sash of Order QL12 > Red Sash of Order QL25
Factions needed in West Freeport: Knights of Truth (Focus), Ashen Order, Silent Fist Clan

====================================================================
Step2: Purple Headband
White Headband QL1 > Yellow Headband QL7 > Orange Headband QL8 > Red Headband QL20 > Purple Headband QL30
Factions needed in North Qeynos: Guards of Qeynos (Focus), Ashen Order, Silent Fist Clan

====================================================================
Step3: Robe of the Lost Circle QL35
Nagafen's Lair> Kill Targin the Rock (L35-39) and obtain Code of Zan Fi
Lower Guk> Kill Raster of Guk (L37) and obtain The Idol
South Karana> Hand Brother Qwinn: Code of Zan Fi + Purple Headband = Needle of the Void
Mountains of Rathe> Hand Brother Zephyl: The Idol + Red Sash of Order = Rare Robe Pattern

In sewing kit combine : Needle of the Void + Rare Robe Pattern + Shadow Silk + Song: Jonthan's Whistling Warsong = Robe of the Lost Circle
The above is a no fail combine. However, Shadow Silk is 36 Tailoring Trivial.
====================================================================
Step4: Robe of the Whistling Fist QL50
Karnor's Castle> Kill Drovarlg Pawduster (L46-47) and obtain Metal Pip [Zan]
Chardok> Kill Iksar Betrayer (L56) and obtain Metal Pipe [Fi]
Dreadlands> Hand Brother Balatin: Metal Pip [Zan] + Metal Pipe [Fi] + Robe of the Lost Circle = Robe of the Whistling Fist

Notes:
Faction Levels: Scowl,Glare,Glower,Apprehensive,Indifferent,Amiable,Kindly,Warmly,Ally
QL=Quest Level
*For example: If you screwed the pooch with Guards of Qeynos and would like to reset it to the default purchase the Potion of Peace: Guards of Qeynos 172 Crowns from Alerynril the Loyal (Plane of Knowledge). WARNING! Do not use the potion if your original faction is worse than where you currently sit with Qeynos Guards (See faction levels).

Monk Epic 1.0 Walkthrough
# Aug 11 2015 at 1:35 PM Rating: Decent
Unfortunately aside from the items needed to make the Robe of the Whistling Fist, the Monk epic has very few items that can be pre-looted. On the plus side this makes it easier to remember that most times you walk into one event with one item and walk away with another. The Robe has to be quested and is required to complete the epic.

Preloot:
1) Robe of the Whistling Fist: See post above. Result of quest chain.
2) Immortals (book). Skyfire Mountains. Various mobs see Step1 for link.
3) Charred Scale. Lavastorm mountains. Triggered mob - Eejag.

Important Note: Steps4-10 can be completed while you are still working on the Robe of the Whistling Fist. Just hold onto the Demon's Fang.

Step.1
Skyfire Mountains> Kill various mobs and obtain book Immortals (Open link to see list of mobs that drop it)
Erudin> Hand Tomekeeper Danl the book of Immortals to get in return Danl's Reference

Step.2
Timorous Deep> Hand Lheao the Robe of the Whistling Fists (See above post) and Danl's Reference to get in return Celestial Fists [Illegible Tome of Immense Power]

Step.3 (Read Carefully)
There are two Kaiaren's in Trakanon's Teeth. One we will call "Crazy" Kaiaren and "True" Kaiaren. "Crazy" Kaiaren hangs around the undead ruins by the Old Sebillis entrance (n1500, n3200). "True" Kaiaren hangs around west of the lake in the middle of the zone (p300,p2500). NOTE: I am unsure if both versions are up all the time.

a) Trakanon's Teeth>Hand "Crazy" Kaiaren Celestial Fists [Illegible Tome of Immense Power] you will get it back. This will cause "Crazy" Kaiaren to go bonkers and spawn his true self at the other location. It is not necessary to kill the crazy version but worry not if you do as it does not affect the next step.

b) Trakanon's Teeth> Hand "True" Kaiaren Celestial Fists [Illegible Tome of Immense Power] to obtain Book of Celestial Fists. Do not hand him the new version of the tome as this is the item you need to hand in for your epic.

Step.4
Lavastorm Mountains> Kill Eejag to obtain Charred Scale.
Look for an imp south of zone named "A Fire Sprite" and say "I challenge Eejag". Eejag will spawn in the middle of the lava pool in the center of the zone (Where rock pier exists). He is below the lava and cannot be /tar'd above it. Go under and kill him.

Step.5
Trakanon's Teeth> Hand "Crazy" Kaiaren the Charred Scale. You will get it back.(Confirmed. True version wasn't up. I handed it to Crazy version.)

Step.6
Plane of Sky> Kill Gwan to obtain Breath of Gwan.
Gwan is a triggered mob on the Noble Djorn Island. To get there: If you are in a guild purchase Cloudy Stone of Veeshan from Zeflmin Werlikanin [ Portal Crystals ] and hand it to him. Alternatively, purchase the stone in Brell's Rest from Marie Fay and simply give it to a wizard to port a group up to the Plane of Sky. Relm M`Loch in the Plane of Tranquility also teleports a character one at a time, per stone.

Purchase A Key of Swords from the Key Master and click on the Noble Dojorn pad (It gets added to your keyring). The mob you need to hand the Charred Scale to is "a presence" which will have no form, just the name will appear. Once you hand to Charred Scale it will despawn and Gwan will appear. Say "I am prepared" or attack Gwan to get the fight started. Be sure to keep him centered on the island as he procs a knockback, so be careful around the edges. Kill Gwan to obtain Breath of Gwan.

Step.7
Mines of Nurga> Kill Trunt to obtain Trunt's Head.
Look for "a sleeping ogre" hand him the Breath of Gwan. He will despawn and Trunt will appear. Show him who is boss.
"a sleeping ogre" is in the center of the zone and does not respond to any hails. Just hand in the breath.

Step.8
Lake Rathetear>Hand Deep Trunt's Head you will get it back. Deep despawns on turn in.
This appears to be a flag check since you get Trunt's head back. Not sure what will happen if you skip this step. I'd advise against it.

Step.9
The Overthere> Hand Astral Projection Trunt's Head to obtain Eye of Kaiaren.
The Astral Projection (looks like a human monk) can be found in the scorpion pit in the center of the zone.

Step.10
Lake of Ill Omen> Kill Xenevorash to obtain Demon's Fang.
Hand Eye of Kaiaren to the Astral Projection (looks like a human monk) which can be found on the island in the middle of the zone. He will despawn once you give him the eye. Deep and Vorash will spawn and must be killed. None of them will have items but the first one to die triggers Xenevorash to spawn. You want your epic? Kill him and loot Demon's Fang.

Step.11
Trakanon's Teeth> Hand Kaiaren (either form) the Demon's Fang and the Book of Celestial Fists to obtain Celestial Fists.

Grats!

The Deep hand in does nothing, and is totally skippable. It is just there for lore and to explain why you fight both Deep and Vorash during the final fight.

The only Epic 1.0 quests with flags are the Berserker Epic 1.0 and the Beastlord Epic 1.0. The rest were created well before flags existed at all; and the most that was ever added to any of them were level checks and some anti multi quest code.

Someone needs to rewrite the walkthrough for this quest, including all the side quests and such, IN ORDER, so that simpletons like myself can understand them. I can't make sense of what I'm trying to read now. Needs to be accurate and in order, with in order being the most important thing. Just my own personal opinion. Not everyone is a gaming genius.
Minimum Level Turn-In Required!

Confirmed today (12/12/14) Kaiaren will NOT accept the "Demon Fangs" or the "Book of Celestial Fists" if you are not high enough level.

I REPEAT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MQ THIS QUEST IF YOUR MONK IS NOT HIGH ENOUGH LEVEL!!! (Most likely level 46 but I will test this further)

I MQed this quest for my baby monk (level 10) like normal. My high level (level 85) had the "Book of Celestial Fists" (the correct one/cycled once from "Celestial Fists") and my monk had the "Demon Fangs." Kaiaren accepted the book no problem and prompted some text regarding something about sealing the evil (which meant awaiting the fangs). Immediately after, I tried to give Kaiaren the fangs from my monk and upon clicking give, the window just closes, returns fangs to inventory, and doesn't respond with any text (not even "I have no use for this item Blahblah, you can have it back.").

After about 10 minutes of trying to figure this issue out, Kaiaren (Sane) despawned swallowing my book in the process. I petitioned and got my book back and ran another experiment.

This time I shrouded my high level with the book to a level 10 goblin. I then proceeded to do the turn in to Kaiaren (Mad). The same thing that had happened to my monk happened to my shrouded high level. Window closes, returns book, no response. Luckily it he didn't swallow any of my items this time since the GM who returned my item said it was a one time deal because they don't "support" MQing which is understandable.

Conclusion: I think after the epic change (new damage ratio) they may have change it so Kaiaren doesn't accept any items from characters who are not high enough level. My monk's level was 10 and my high level was 85. I will continue to try to do the turn in every 5 levels since I don't want to have a higher level shroud than my monk to prevent any items getting swallowed.

You can skip the Red Sash of Order (required to get the Robe of the Lost circle) and
Monks of the Whistling Fists (to obtain the Robe of the Lost Circle, by camping Brother Zephyl in Mountains of Rathe or Brother Qwinn South Karana to get the Robe of the Lost circle.

This was very common back then to impress people. What they did was the epic at 46 then deleveled themselves I knew a few people that did it just for the hell of it.

While there may be some who have done that; it is completely possible for even a level 1 monk to have the 1.0 (I have one). You just have to have someone higher than 46 loot the drop off of Eejag, go kill Gwan and then the lvl 1 can loot the piece from Trunt.

Pre-46 turn in

Tried to turn this in tonight at 25 and the NPC said he did not need them and that i could have them back (demon fangs and book of celestial fists). My monk looted everything that i killed for the robes and turned them in no problem. He had no problem getting the book of celestial fists either. What i did for the demon fangs was this:

Higher level toon kills Eejag, loots scale.
Higher level goes to sky hands in scale, kills gwan, loots breath.
Higher level and monk go to nurga, higher level kills trunt, monk loots head.
Higher level drags monk to the remaining NPC's for turn ins and kills, monk does all looting and turning in.

I have seen a level 12 monk with the 1.0 and am not sure how he did it. I will wait till 46 and try the turn in again. If i have to get a new scale on the monk and go to sky/nurga again that won't be any problem but at 25 the final NPC would not take the 2 final turn in items.

Hope any of this info helps someone someday.

P.S. I used my 71 mage as the "higher level toon" above. Fights were easy no problems at all except mobs are very resistant even with malo so my pet did all the work. CotH helped a lot with travel time as well.

As far as I know, you can't do the turn-ins early.

However, the final turn-in may not be level locked, so they just MQ'd it.

Most likely, however, is they got it on a 50 monk and deleveled 'em.

You are wrong, just come to Tunare and as Xianzu to to log on his level 1 Epic 1.0'd monk. So I am talking from personal experience here.

I am 100% sure that what Nelyan's problem was that he had not yet cycled the book thru to get the right book. So when he turned it in the 2nd time at 46, he was handing in the correct items. Honestly, I am surprised his fangs did not get eaten as you can turn them into either the crazy or the sane guy for the final item.

It is also possible that there is a faction component that his monk had not reached. With the exception of the Beastlord and Berserker 1.0s; all other Epic 1.0s can be achieved at any level; the only thing that leveling does is lower the faction requirement somehow. Since the monk getting the 1.0 had not done most of the turn ins it seems they did not have the faction built up themselves to do the final turn in their level. This is most commonly ran into by those doing the druid and ranger epic quests.

Well i hit 46 last night and tried the turn in again with the book/fang i had... Worked no problem. Got epic and am happy. Appears for sure this one can't be turned in before 46 by the monk. MQ'ing may still work as long as the person helping with the MQ for the final turn in is over 46.

Dunno if anyone else put it in their post but the title awarded for this epic is "Apostle"

The Overthere "Astral Projection" does not spawn in the location mentioned in this guide. Correct loc is: 766, 857, -498.

P -857.6151, -766.8771, -498.6524, 0, 0, 0, 1, Astral_Projection

Do not say "i am the one" before you hand in the head, he will despawn and takes a long time to respawn.

You can save some time bypassing dialog runs:
- Skip Kaiaren run with Charred Scale, go directly from Eejag kill to spawn Gwan.
- Skip Deep run with Trunt's Head, go directly from Trunt kill to turnin at the Overthere Astral Projection.

Also "a sleeping ogre" is no longer kos as mentioned so no need to bring a Enchanter.

Finished today (55 monk, no AA) october 5,2011. was a long quest but not many hard parts except for last fight in lake of ill omen, but was not hard just long,Deep and Vorash took probably same time to kill as Xenevorash and merc had about 50% mana left. When Xen spawned on platform, i let merc med up before fight and merc had full mana through whole fight.and an annoying thing about last turnin (had to log on ranger to track) as Kaiaren didnt stand near entrance of ruin anymore he had moved and stood at LOCATION <Kaiaren -1715 -3061> did turnin and got my monk epic :)

I started on Friday by killing brother Z for the Robe. Dropped on 3rd try. PHs are:

a drake or Hasten, spawntime about 16 mins, Spawn is close to hillgiant hill.

Drolvarg camp: about 8 hours in 2 days, not that bad, killed about all mobs in castle while waiting so my monk would get some EP. nice cash too since the clicky armor sells for 400 pp to NPCs.

Chardok camp: about 6 hours in 2 days, killed everything that was up so my monk could get some EP while beeing FD.

Warning: on the bridge to Korucust(?)is a trap that uses charm spells. While my 78 shammy resisted them all, the 55 Monk didn't. Got killed by my merc...damn.

The longest part was to find information, if i could do the following turn ins at the Mad Kaiaren:
- Eejag Scale
- final turn in (Demon Fang + Book)

BOTH TURN INS CAN BE DONE WITH THE MAD VERSION!

Grouped with a 78 shammy and a port bot it took about 4 hours to do all the stuff past the rotwf. Since i planned to do it straight away i got the robe of whistling fist and turned in 20 mins later, so i did everything according to the guide.

Working on 1.5 now.

Btw: Monk was about lv. 52 when i started in Karnor, after the final turn in he was lv 60...nice exping =)

Regarding the brother zephyl/hasten/rangerguy/a drake spawn cycle, its not 16 minutes, its less than 4min 30 seconds.
A spawn happens in one of 3 locations on the hill giant hill, and it will either be a drake, or one of the 3 nameds depending on the spot it spawns in. Waiting for the spawn near Glaron the wicked should let you spot them all coming down the hillside as long as your timer is active after every ph kill.
Got the blasted robe today after on and off camping frustration the last few days.
