does anyone know how many points this spell costs, and do you have to get them in any certain Ldon arena like the group temp spell.

Just thought I'd post this as I had lots of problems getting my Iony's spells to give me a definate success or fail message. Stand real close to the target barrel, chest, box etc when casting. If you are standing too far from it you won't get the message. Took me a while to figure this out. Once I got real close to the objects, I got the appropriate pass/fail messages, otherwise I just got the rocking back and forth messages.

Hope this helps save someone the trouble I had trying to figure out why I never got the success or fail messages and missed out on lots of containers 8(

I have used these spells several times successfully.

A few observations:

1) Always try casting augury on an object first. If you cast augury on an object and can't be opened with spells for cursed traps and locks, then you will get a message saying so, i.e., "spell only works on cursed objects."

2) If the object is cursed and augury works, then you will get a definite message saying what it finds, "you are sure object is/is not trapped". If the object rocks back and forth (and/or you get an indefinite message saying that the object rocks or some such) and you don't get this message about whether or not it is trapped, then try again. If you still don't get the definite message as to whether or not it is trapped with repeated casting then it's cursed but you can't open it, possibly your spell is too low.

3) If you get a message saying the object is trapped, then try removing first the trap and then the lock with the other Iony's spells. In both cases you get a definite message saying so if you are successful. Only then is it safe to open the container (with the Open skill). Again, if you don't get a definite message then you can try again with the same spell at each step. In a couple of cases containers required casting twice at one or more steps.

Containers almost always drop something good, like an augment. It is almost always worth the trouble to open them.

Well, I tried this last night for the first time. I have the 'Greater' line of the cursed variety. What you described in #2 happened to me.

After multiple detects, cleansings, and unlockings I was completely unable to open the chest. How in the world could I NOT be able to open a cursed chest with the highest spell line available?

When I tried to open it we were cursed, implying that it was, indeed, a cursed chest.

You had an issue because even tho it was a cursed based spell the trap and lock was magical. There are 3 types of traps in the LDoN dungeons.

Mechanical- only able to be opened by rogues and bards.

Magical- only able to be opened by int casters thru spells.

Cursed- only able to be opened by wis casters and necros thru spells.

The trap spell used in the trap may have been curse based but the trap itself was a magical trap. You might also note that necros are the only class that is able to open both magical and cursed traps. I feel Sony gave the necros too much again but that's just the luck that the necros get.

ok heres the skinny on these spells. first off they can only be bought from Adventure vendors when you have enough points earned from completing LDON adventures. they can Only be bought in wayfayrer camps.

Secondly they have 2 different lines of spells. the first ones detect, disarm, and open holy traps. the second line detect, disarm and open magical traps (thieves are needed for mechanical traps).

augury detects a holy trap lock
cleansing disarms a holy trap lock
excorcism opens a holy trap lock
you have to sucessfully cleanse the holy lock item before you perform a excorcism.

apprasial detects a magic trap lock
discombobualtion removes a magic trap lock
extrication opens a magic trap lock
you have to sucessfully discombubulate the magic lock item before you perform a extrication.

test apprasial and augury on known none trap items to see what the message is, you will know if it works as its a different message. also if your using the lessor spells in a high level dungeon they may not work also. (not sure on what they would cover but i would assume the lessors cover 20-30s avg. party level, the normal (lvl24) spells cover the 30-40s level, and the greater would cover 40s+..but these are just estimates and HAVENT been confirmed).

The reasons the spells are lower than 20 is that you can obtain is technically at lvl 15 you CAN go into a dungeon if the total party avg. level is 20 or above..but you have to be withen 7 levels of eachother so that means that this would be very hard to do..ie have like 5 lvl 21 to 22 players and one lvl 15 player in a adventure group(avg 20). You may just want to wait till your 24 and buy the normal spells instead of using adv points on the lessor spells.

if both apprasial and augury do not detect that the lock is traped then it could be a mechanical lock. thieves and bards are needed for those.
How these spells work.

Ok to clear up a lot of confusion about the ldon spells.

In LDON there are THREE types of traps. They are mechanical, magical, and cursed.

MECHANICAL traps can be sensed by a bard or rogue and ONLY by a bard or rogue using their sense trap skill. These traps can then be opened by the bard or rogue with disarm and lockpick.

MAGICAL traps are opened by INTELLIGENCE casters and ONLY intellegence casters via the new LDON line of spells. The wizard, mage, enchanter, and necromancer have these spells. The first spell tells that caster if the trap is indeed a magical trap. If it is then the caster should use the appropriate spell to disarm the trap. Lastly that caster must open the lock with the lock break spell. ONLY these FOUR classes can open MAGICAL traps and none other.

LASTLY is the CURSED traps. These can be opened by the holy classes via their new LDON spells. Also note that NECROMANCERS can also unlock cursed traps. Again the first spell line must be used to tell if the trap is a CURSED trap of not. If it is cursed the disarm trap spell must be used. Lastly the caster must use the lock break spell. ONLY the holy casters and necromancers can open cursed traps.

Also, each spell is able to work up to certain lvls of traps. The lvl 14 spell can open traps to a certain average group lvl and not farther. Likewise the lvl 24 and 34 spells go up to higher lvl traps. I DONT KNOW which the lvl 14 24 and 34 stop working on so if you do please post away.

As you can see these spells can be very helpful to get and are not junk as most people believe. Know also that the trapped chests can have nice items inside such as AUGMENTATIONS and gear that rares have, as well as money and experience.

So next time you are in LDON and come across a trapped chest.....take the time to learn which of the three types it is. Then open it...you will be glad you did :)

Thanks you and I hope this helps a lot.

Too bad this does not tell you if it is cursed trapped or cursed locked. I ran into a chest cast this. Since it was cursed it let me cast it.... so I guess had I simply ducked out once the spell started casting I could have saved my mana. Then I cast Exorcism to remove trap then Cleansing to remove curse lock if that was the problem. Tried opening the chest and still got hit by the trap. Not very impressed with this line of spells so far. Anyone else want to post their experiances?
What it does...

This is the greater version in the Augury line.

This spell is cast on LDoN objects to see if they are cursed or not. If they are cursed you most definatly don't want to break or open then.

they are indeed purchased with adventure points, the other 2 spells will either attempt to remove a cursed trap, or attempt to unlock a cursed lock.

My group with a rogue maxed in detect/open/disarm and she usually gets them open no problem, however the one gave her an unusual message, something like you cannot tell if this is trapped, it was not the normal you sense no trap message, well that box was trapped and locked, she could not disarm because couldnt tell if trapped, and pick locks failed as well. We believe that the chest had cursed trap and cursed lock and therefore could only safely be opened/disarmed with this line of spells.

I don't know what they do, but I believe you use the points you earn with the wayfarer's to 'buy' them off their special merchant(s). This may be true of all the new LDoN spells (I hope not). :)

So, to answer the "where", check out the 5 wayfarer camps (BB,NRo,SRo,EC,?? - i forget where the other one is)
