These are all nice ideas but what is not mentioned is how the level of the mob compares to the cleric. Here is a list that illustrates approximate % of stun failure (it is not exact calculations rather the table is based off my experience when playing a cleric):

Red = 99% stun resisted
Yellow = 75% stun resisted
White = 50% stun resisted
Dark Blue = 40% stun resisted
Light Blue = 20% stun resisted
Green = 10% stun resisted
Gray = 1% stun resisted

Now lets say and you are experiencing in the latest high level zone full of reds and yellows and you have an agressive puller who pulls 3 red con mobs to your group and you have no crowd control but there is 1 cleric in the group. Do you think it is a good idea to cast an AE stun spell?

Now lets say you are doing some task solo and a boss mob who cons red and 2 guards that con light blue. what do you think will happen if you cast this spell?

Now lets say you are in a zone experiencing with dark blue and light blue cons. Does it look like an AE stun may be a bit more useful in this situation considering the confidence level of the stun actually landing is higher?

Assuming the stun is successful do you have the armor/stats capable of allowing you to withstand a beating long enough to live? Remember your a cleric not a Paladin.

Would a single target stun be more useful in any of the above situations?

Of course there are other considerations like is the mob(s):

immune to stun
immune to root/snare
taken any HP damage
taken any other type of agro
social to fellow mobs (intelligent)

So before you even consider throwing a stun consider the mobs level in relation to yours and you may live to tell about it :)

I like the stun...
# Jul 23 2004 at 12:45 AM Rating: Excellent
The stun has becime an integral part of my life... I play on Rallos and have to deal with a lot of raid style pk's... I like to mess with them and if Curse or PopControl or one of those groups come along... usually all that saves me is this stun... then at least I can gate out IF I have to...
Level Cap ??

You're dreaming.

*Technically* this spell has no "known" level cap. It's kinda like Sacred Word in that respect.

However, over level 55, you start seeing "this creature is immune to the stun portion of this effect" a LOT. You also see mobs do nifty things like gate or ch out from under a stun that supposedly landed.

So...if you plan to make this spell part of a working strategy, put the time into a "cast this then gate" test of this spell on a day when your divine rez is up. You'll want to know in advance if it works on your targets or not.

For example, it works *great* in Fungus Grove on ...everything that isn't epic. But it suxxorz muchly in North Ro LDON's over about a lvl 60 group because of all the immune mobs.

Ok, duno about you other clerics out there, but I prefer not to have agro, unless my tank is dying and I have a druid in the group. At 56, I can take a pretty severe beating, cast DB when low health, run to the back away from the tank, click off DB, get agro again, take a beating, cast DA. If you plan on using an AoE stun, you better be prepared to steal agro. Only time I can see this being useful is when the chanty has agro and needs to get off an AoE mezz. just my 2cp.

This spell isn't useless, it's just rarely needed.

As far as getting agro...it's a truly basic stun and it lasts NINE seconds. That's more than enough time to root some mobs (which if it is your damageless cleric root won't even break the stun), or mem gate, or give the wizzie a minute to evac.

This is a *basic* stun. It does *no* damage. Anything anyone else does to the mobs will pull the agro off you. So if you pop this and the war follows with his aoe taunt disc, you're good. If you pop this and a nearly beaten chanter pops an aoe mez, your're good. If you pop this and the offtanks pick their targets and you root a few others, you're good. If you pop this, and the necro picks a couple to kite around with darkness or the ranger snare kites or whatever, you're good.

Lastly, if you pop this and no one does *anything* but spank the main mob that was called as the "inc" mob in the first place, all you have to do is run "through" that fight to get the mobs off you and onto your tank. This is a very basic stun with very low hate. They will ignore you and start socially hitting the tank who is beating up on their buddy nine times out of ten. Follow this little dance up with a HoT and NOT a direct heal so that you don't end up with heal-taunt agro and you'll be fine.

Besides...

You...wear...plate. I know it sometimes interrupts heals to be hit, but that's why you have a nearly uninterruptable group HoT aa ... and if you cannot take being spanked a few seconds even a little bit by level 55, upgrade your gear a bit. This isn't a spell you'd use on mobs that would *paste* a 55 cleric in good gear because *those* mobs would just return you a "this creature is immune to the stun portion of this effect" message anyway.

This spell will NOT save you from a truly bad situation. If your puller brought 5 things that are gonna flurry the tank to death and you don't have evac.....

But if you were farming greens..I mean greys...for tradeskill supplies and you happened to pull too many to handle all at once and you need a second to get a fast heal and to get your Ward back up...this is great.

revamp/edit : spell has a 1.0 second casting time, don't stand too close :) I've stunned myself twice in duels with this puppy. Both times against a 65 SK (me = owned x 10). Good for a quick stun if you need it. Still wouldn't suggest using it as your main stun (prefer force myself). Happy hunting :)

not totally useless. I used to use it while AE'ing SoLA for example (pull 15-20 gobs, AE stun, which gives me time to AE Damage).

But definitly wouldn't want it loaded during a exp group.
what lvl mobs?

This will stnu you if you are close to the targetted mob. just a warning so you dont sit for 9 seconds watching your group die around you while youre stunned.
