Say "confront Calix" to request the task and "free" to zone in.

You say, 'Hail, Firiona Vie'

Firiona Vie looks up as you approach, taken out of deep thought. '_____, I still do not know where Al`Kabor is. Before the [beam] struck the dome, he had been reading the [books] in the city and wandering the streets, visiting portals. Since our journey began, he has seemed [troubled], and his agitation grew when we descended into the sea. I'm sure he was primarily concerned with the potential magical power of the leaders of this place when we eventually must [face them] if your [group] is ready.'

You say, 'My group is ready'

Firiona Vie says 'There is much left undone as we follow Lanys' path from the ship to the Citadel. It is finally time: We must [confront Calix] Quirinus and recover Tsaph. It seems unlikely that he would have harmed their [leader], Tsaph Katta. His people, calling themselves Indagatoris Opertum, worship him. We must be prepared to face not only great power but great faith.'

You say, 'What about their leader?'

Firiona Vie says 'I would never tell anyone whom or how to worship, but from what I understand of history, Tsaph Katta never really led the Combine. His efforts to bring his people together, while noble, fell apart the moment he was gone. I have no doubt about his skill as a leader and inspiration, but he has yet to be truly tested. I can only hope he meets up to expectations, but after building up his legend for so long, I don't see how they can be satisfied with the real man.'

You say, 'We will confront Calix...'

Firiona Vie says 'Wonderful! We appreciate your assistance, and we can never repay you. We will never forget the risks you take on our behalf. Some of my companions have gone ahead. We shall meet them when you are [free].'

You have been assigned the task 'Confronting Calix'.

Firiona and her allies need your assistance in confronting the leader of Arx Mentis to rescue Tsaph Katta.

Defeat Calix and rescue Tsaph Katta 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Speak with Calix Quirinus to begin the event. First, you'll have Principal Indagator Gordianus to deal with (has a few AEs and spawns damage auras that you'll need to avoid.

Once Principal Indagator Gordianus is dead, you'll have Calix Quirinus go aggro (spawns adds). Soon after, Lanys T`Vyl goes aggro as well, and you'll have both of them to contend with. Each has their own AEs and unique abilities.

Kill Calix Quirinus to complete the event, and stand under Ognit Eznertob to avoid Una Lucem's AE at the end.

Event Summary

Phase One

- Speak with Calix to trigger the event.

- Here, you'll have to contend with Principal Indagator Gordianus.
--- Lanys T`Vyl and Calix remain out of the fight, for now.

- Principal Indagator Gordianus:
--- Casts "Lesser Stormpulse" every 35 seconds (PBAE 20' range 43,000 dmg + double attack inhibition + fizzle rate increase).
--- Casts "Lesser Energy Wave" every 25 seconds (rear 40' range AE for 42,500 dmg + knockback).
--- Spawns storm auras every 60 seconds that pulse "Lesser Manastorm" every 3 seconds (40,000 dmg + 2,500 mana drain).
------ His damage auras sit idle for a period of time before eventually exploding. As the fight goes on, more auras appear at a time.

- This phase ends when Principal Indagator Gordianus dies.

Phase Two

- When Principal Indagator Gordianus dies, Calix Quirinus and 2x "a Doomscale destroyer" go live.
--- The friendly NPCs will kill the two adds.
--- Calix Quirinus takes control of Galeth's arc worker suit and sends it to attack the other friendly NPCs, at which time Lanys T`Vyl goes live.

- You now have Calix Quirinus and Lanys T`Vyl to contend with.

- Lanys T`Vyl:
--- Her health can't drop below Calix's health (will auto-raise +1%).
--- The more health she loses, the weaker she becomes.
--- Casts "Lesser Surge of Pain" (500' range PBAE 10-tick levitation suppression + 1,000 mana drain + 37,500 dmg).
--- Casts "Lesser Repulsion" at same time as "Surge of Pain" (100' range PBAE knockback + one-slow dispell).
--- Casts "Lesser Mana Conversion" buff on herself (causes spells to heal her for 50,000hp).
--- Casts "Lesser Lifescourge" (emote-based frontal beam spell; reduces max hp by 20% for 60 seconds; has 25 corruption counters).
--- Swaps between tank targets every 75-100 seconds (switches from top hated to second hated).
--- Alternates between being vulnerable to melee (title "Exhausted" appears under her name) and vulnerable to spells (title "Rested" appears under her name) - she will emote about this as well.
--- Spawns undead adds four at a time (adds have very low hitpoints, but hit for a max ~10,000).
--- Weakening as she loses health:
------ When below 60% health, adds stop spawning.
------ When below 40% health, stops casting "Lesser Lifescourage" and doing tank swaps.

- Calix Quirinus:
--- The more health he loses, the stronger he becomes.
--- Casts "Lesser Energy Conversion", 150' range PBAE, every 45 seconds which does range-based damage.
------ Does 22,500 dmg at close range to Calix, up to 90,000 dmg at further range away from Calix.
--- Once below 50%, gains two spells (emotes are seen by inflicted targets):
------ "Lesser Energy Charge" (every 20 seconds on four targets: 50% spell interrupt; DOT for 30,000/tick (60 seconds); cured by moving 120' range in any direction).
------ "Lesser Energy Barrier" (same time as Energy Charge; four targets; inflicted player should not move more than 25' range with this debuff on, or it drops. After 10 seconds, if this buff isn't still on the player, they are hit with "Lesser Energy Discharge" for 62,500 dmg.)
--- Once below 30%, gains another attack:
------ "Lesser Energy Flow" (alternates with "Lesser Energy Conversion" casts; range-based damage the opposite of "Energy Conversion" - the closer you are, the more damage you take).
--- Lanys T`Vyl must be 10% health or lower before you can kill Calix.

- To complete the event:
--- Calix Quirinus remains locked at 2% health until Lanys T`Vyl is at or under 10%. At this point, Calix can be killed. This completes the mission.

- One last problem:
--- Una Quirinus, having remained out of the fight all this time, does an AE for 200,000 dmg after the completion. Get into Ognit Eznertob's aura to protect yourself from this.

Event Trigger

You say, 'Hail, Calix Quirinus'

Calix Quirinus shouts 'So, you dare to show yourself here, in my sanctum. I am shocked by your stupidity. You assault my people, nearly kill my [daughter], and now you come here. Your [desire for death] must be overwhelming. You were correct, however, [Lanys]. They are persistent and dangerous. But their reign of terror ends now.'

You say, 'Your daughter?'

Calix Quirinus says 'Una is the perfect child, first of her kind. She is the future of Norrath. The perfect being, blended from all the greatest parts of all the races of Norrath. Myself and others that are less perfect will give way to them, and those that they create will replace them in time. We grow much stronger with each generation. You, unfortunately, are a remnant of the past, no longer wanted, no longer needed.'

You say, 'Lanys?'

Calix Quirinus says 'She has her uses, of course. She has helped us anticipate your actions, though her direct contributions could be stronger. She is quite mad, clearly, but insanity can be a useful tool for those that know how to channel it.'

You say, 'You are the one with a desire for death'

Calix Quirinus says 'Fine, Gordianus, deal with them, I must see to my daughter.'

Firiona Vie shouts 'Even though so much blood has already been spilled, it is clear that you will not allow this to end before even more is shed.'

Calix Quirinus shouts 'Really? What about my daughter's blood? She is precious and unique. She is the future of Norrath, and you would destroy her.'

Una Quirinus shouts 'I can still fight them, father! Don't give up on me yet.'

Calix Quirinus shouts 'You can barely stand, child. Just wait here while Gordianus deals with these intruders. Save your strength. Once they are dead I will use the chamber to heal your wounds.'

Firiona Vie shouts 'I'm sorry, but I can't allow that. Tsaph needs that chamber, and I have no plans to allow the Lifeguide to be used to forward your insane plans. You should never have allied yourself with Lanys. She can't be trusted. Death and pain are the only things she brings to your alliance. Death, torture, pain... All the things she brought to Dagda she will bring to you.'

Lanys T`Vyl shouts 'Hah! It's no surprise that you blame me. That's all you've ever done. But it wasn't me that hid behind her friends. It wasn't my fault that I had to go through that pathetic barbarian to get to you. If you hadn't brought her here to protect you, she wouldn't be dead now.'

Calix Quirinus shouts 'Vengeance? Pain? Perfect. This is what you deserve for what you have done to my people, to my daughter.'

Lanys T`Vyl shouts 'Good. You get your revenge. I will get what I came for!'

Calix Quirinus shouts 'No! You must not disturb Tsaph Katta! He will die if you open that chamber or take the healing gem. Put off your petty desires for a little longer! Stop her, Gordianus!'

Principal Indagator Gordianus shouts 'I can't harm her and you know it. You should never have given her that seal. My magic won't touch her.'

Principal Indagator Gordianus shouts 'Now the storm begins. I am Gordianus, first Principal of Arx Mentis. They call me Magestorm. I shall now teach you why.'

Al`Kabor says 'My companions, I'm afraid I can't protect you all from these storms, merely four of us.'

Principal Indagator Gordianus

First, you have Principal Indagator Gordianus and his auras to deal with. You'll see this emote as he spawns one:

Principal Indagator Gordianus shouts 'Do you feel it? The storm is coming!'

They move around the event area. Stay out of them to avoid their damage auras.

You only have a very short time after Principal Indagator Gordianus's death before Calix Quirinus goes live (summons from 100% health).

Principal Indagator Gordianus has been slain by _____!

Firiona Vie shouts 'Lanys, stop! Opening that chamber might kill Tsaph!'

Lanys T`Vyl shouts 'What makes you think I care what happens to this relic, Tsaph? Doomscale, keep her from interfering.'

Calix Quirinus & Lanys T`Vyl

Lanys T`Vyl stays out of the fight until Calix Quirinus is around 85-80% health:

Lanys T`Vyl shouts 'Get out of my way, you old fossil. Finally! Now I have the whole Lifeguide! That just leaves finishing you fools off and I can get on about my business.'

Calix Quirinus shouts 'You will not leave with your prize, Lanys. You cannot breach the Citadel. We can discuss your plight once you have aided me in destroying the intruders that you brought to our home.'

Lanys T`Vyl shouts 'You are demented, Calix. But I will not die here. My magic links us. I cannot die while you still live.'

Calix Quirinus shouts 'You, Galeth! Even if you inhabit one of our creations, you can never truly control it. But I CAN!' Galeth stops moving for a moment, and then moves toward his companions.'

Lanys T`Vyl also summons from 100% health. Now, you have both of them to contend with. Keep in mind that Lanys T`Vyl's health cannot drop below Calix Quirinus's health, and that the lower in health Lanys goes, the weaker she becomes while the lower in health Calix goes, the stronger he becomes.

Lanys has an emote-based directional "Lifescourge" debuff (reduces maximum hitpoints of anyone in the path of the beam spell); occasionally memblurs herself (save for one random target on her hatelist). Throughout the encounter, she alternates between being vulnerable to melee attacks and vulernable to spell attacks (you'll see these two emotes indicating which one she's vulnerable to at the time).

Emotes you'll see here:

Lanys is growing tired. As her ability to block your attacks lessens, she quickly casts a spell to protect herself from magic.
--- vulnerable to melee; immune to spells

Lanys regains her endurance and begins to block nearly every physical blow, just as her magical defenses drop.
--- vulnerable to spells; immune to melee

Lanys T`Vyl shifts her attention to someone else that has been irritating her and forgets the transgressions of everyone else!
--- this is her memblur and target shift

Lanys gains strength. She seems linked in some way to Calix.
--- seen if you try to damage her lower than Calix's current health

Lanys T`Vyl says 'Heads up, _____!'
--- seen 10 seconds in advance of directional "Lesser Lifescourge" on target

A power begins surging through you. It weakens as you move.
--- "Lesser Energy Charge" lands on you; move 120' to remove it

A power surrounds and protects you, but it is very fragile.
--- "Lesser Energy Barrier" lands on you; do not move 25' while it's on you

The barrier around you prevents a deadly energy discharge from striking you.
--- you avoided one of Calix's positional AEs towards the end of the fight

Lanys grows weak. As she does, so does Calix. You believe he can be harmed now.
--- Lanys is under 10%; you can now kill Calix to finish the event

NOTE: Lanys T`Vyl continues attacking until Una Quirinus does her AE. (The event is won at this point, so dying after Calix's death has no actual consequence other than the inconvenience of having to run back to the task.)

The Finish

Calix Quirinus has been slain by _____!

Galeth Veredeth looks confused. 'Did I... Did I just attack you? I'm so sorry, Ognit. I hope I did no permanent harm to the Erudite. That Calix fellow took control of my body. Perhaps this form was a poor choice.'

Firiona was very grateful for your help. Tspah Katta shook your hand and was very pleased as well.

Ognit Eznertob shouts 'Quickly! Gather!'

Get to Ognit Eznertob's location.

Una Quirinus shouts 'I die, but I take our foes with us!'
Una Quirinus begins to cast a spell. <Retribution of the Indagatoris Opertum>

Your immunity buff protected you from the spell Retribution of the Indagatoris Opertum!

Firiona Vie says 'Well, here we are again. You have brought war to this place, murdered and tortured my friends, and corrupted all of those you call Doomscale. You have come to represent all that is terrible in this world. And now you have finally failed.'

Lanys T`Vyl whispers, clearly pained by the simple act of speaking, 'I have always been stronger than you. Your allies and that... monstrous child were, once again, the only reason you survived. Now is your chance to prove your strength. Prove you are worthy of all the worship these people give you. End me. Finish what you started. Take my life. End your struggles. Protect your friends.'

Galeth Veredeth says 'You can't do that, Firiona. Don't follow her into that darkness.'

Firiona Vie says 'She is correct. She has destroyed too many lives. It will be a service to the world, to the Mother of All, to everyone, if she is dead. It doesn't matter what happens to me. I am willing to sacrifice anything for those that I care about.' Firiona raises her blade over Lanys.'

Firiona Vie says 'But you are right, Lanys. I am not as strong as you. I can't just murder a helpless foe, not even you. And you are correct, I couldn't defeat you without my friends. I am weak. It is my understanding of that fact, and my ability to trust in those friends, that has stopped you. I can live happily in that weakness.' Firiona reaches out and takes the Lifeguide from Lanys' burned and broken fingers.'

Tsaph Katta says 'Thank you, stranger, for your help. I can never repay you. I only hope that I can be worthy of your sacrifices.'

Al`Kabor groans, rubbing the back of his head. 'What hit me?'

Ognit Eznertob says 'Well, we managed it. I can't seem to be happy about it, though.'

Galeth Veredeth sighs. 'At least it's over. It may be years before our hearts recover. I still can't believe Dagda is dead. I'm not sure that healing Tsaph Katta was worth the price. I suppose it can't be, at least for us, her companions.'

Firiona Vie says 'Such a terrible loss. Such a hollow victory. It seems to be time to [leave].'

During Gordianus, the storm auras that spawn look like giant auras of lightning. They sit idle after summoned for a bit until eventually they explode. as his fight drags out he spawns more each wave, and it becomes slightly harder to avoid being in one. If you are in one your vision will tint blue (with after effects on)

When Gordianus dies Callix and the two "a Doomscale destroyer" mobs standing next to him go active. Firiona vie, Ognit, Al'Kabor, and Galeth attack the Doomscale adds. They destroy them both pretty quick, once the two Doomscale mobs die Callix takes control of Galeth's Arc Tender suit and has it attack Al'Kabor and Ognit (They both go innactive, with Al'Kabor FD on the ground, Galeth attacking him and Ognit deflecting hits). I think Firiona may continue assisting but i don't know, wasn't watching her. Lanys goes active at this point.

The undead adds she spawns appear 4 at a time, con light blue to 105, and have VERY few hp. Laughably few. They hit moderately hard (maybe 10k, maybe less) and die almost upon impact with any damage shield. It's easy to just let them die to DS and heal through them. It does not appear that Callix spawns any Arc Tender adds during the mission as I saw none.

Under Lanys' head you can see (Rested) or (Exhausted). It appears (Rested) is spell vulnerability and (Exhausted) is melee vulnerability. Casting detrimental spells on her when she is (Exhausted) WILL heal her. Meleeing when (Rested) will not.

Callix Hitpoint locks at 2% until Lanys hits 10%. At which point Callix can be killed.

Upon Callix's death the mission is officially marked as completed and you get completion credit. Lanys will walk over, FD, Una will stand up and threaten to explode. Galeth, free of Callix, stops attacking the others, he, FV, and Tsaph gather under Ognit's aura with him and Al'Kabor (as should you...) which appears as a yellow energy cone. It seems you can stand a tiny bit outside it or perhaps behind it and still be protected as our SK did and we still got the achievement, but don't take the risk probably. Upon Una AEing she dies and the chest spawns.

This run the chest dropped "Ring of Hollows" and that's it.

Side note: Firiona drops her sword on the ground to take the Lifeguide from Lanys. The sword cannot be picked up.
