been in POH for the last 3 nights with a 65 mag and me a 60 druid .killed his ph a buch of time but still no Magi P Tasa. .P.S watch out for the spite golems got hella magic resists ..mage was able to lower his fire resist and was able to land his dd like ever othe cast but only hit for like 600..mage pet tanked it and i kept pet healed with Tunare's Renewal worked out fine ended up with 80% mana
Took this guy down today on Drinal... SUPER EASY! Solo'd by 65 Magician... Lets put it this way, If you can solo the other mobs in here, you can walk all over Magi P'tasa, I didn't heal my pet once due to the fact he was casting the whole time and he only took pet down to 76% health. Maybe lucky? But I highly doubt it. To get to him.... You zone in, go over the bridge to your right. He spawns in the building like ten steps away from the bridge and directly across from the bridge. There will be 2 mobs in the first room, and 3 mobs in the next room to the right. He and his PH are in the room with 3, him being the closet mob on the left hand side right beside the door that opens and closes. I don't think I can be much clearer than that. And I hope this helps for those mage doubting that they can solo this stuff. EASY! Hell, you can agro pull the mobs to his room single, just take it slow. One last thing.. I honestly wouldn't bother waisting the time paying a chanter or cleric for KEI/Virtue, as those were the first two spells to get dispelled from me and I had dummies up. Take care Magi, and hope you all get epic'd soon =) PEACE!

Furthermore... Staff of Elemental Mastery:Earth also drops off "A forsaken Revanant" so keep that in mind when your clearning mobs... And no mobs that I have came across yet run, so don't need a snare'r. And finaly, incase you are still having trouble finding magi P'tasa his spawn location in Hate is approx. +350 -400. Give or take! PEACE!
Oneiric Nitemyst 65th Magician <Keepers of The Key>
White to me -- 55 magician. Died very quickly. Dropped the Wand of Swords, whoopty-doo. AFAIK, he was the only "mini-boss" we killed, though we also killed The Deathrot Knight & the Champion of Hate, if those two count.
This clown dropped a staff of elemental mastery: fire & a Shattered Emerald of Corruption for my mage on July, 1st :) -> my ranger's now happy to wield his second Epic
This guy is a pain in my rear end. I killed him around 20 times or more the entire time I have been high enough to get epic and even high enough to get into plane of Hate and NOT ONCE did he drop my stone. He didn't even drop the mage epic staff. He dropped the lame fire staff and some funked up wand of something or other that was also mage only. Needless to say, this guy is a waste of time. His building how ever is the perfect place to sit and wait for the other minis within range to kill them since they actually DO drop what they are suppose to.
Fighting him at lvl 58 with help from a 65 mage he was DB to me!!!
His lvl of difficulty was approximately lvl 55 in comparision to the 48-52 A Reverants.
Sry that i cannot verify the exact lvl of this weak creature.
You can take him down with a nice 55+ tank and a 56+ cleric and some form of slow easily. (careful of the golems cuz of 100% resist ... other than that it's easy!)
If this guy is lvl 60, then he is the weakest lvl 60 mob in all of EQ. I duoed him with my 62 Mage and a 47 cleric healing my pet and had absolutly no trouble at all. He was dead in less than a minute and my pet never got under 60% life, cleric never even used CH. If I were guessing i'd say he is about lvl 55. I had more trouble with the spite golems than him in fact, because of their high MR.
Probably: killed him for the first time tonight and he was a real wuss compared to many of the other mobs in the zone.
Ok, we had about ten people from 49 to 65 (but mostly 50s) raiding the zone for various epic drops, but given how easy it was I don't think you'd have too much trouble with a smaller group that knows what it's doing. The Hand of the Maestro was much tougher, for example, despite supposedly being a lower level.
Incidentally, while he didn't drop the epic staff, he did drop a staff called something like a Wand of Swords, Mage-only with three charges of Shock of Swords.
I have camped magi twice now first time was for 16 hours straight, he spawned 3 times. The second time i camped him it was for 7 hours straight killed magi 3 times third time he droped it however he was not weilding it, this was on CT server
#REDACTED,
Posted:Jan 04 2004 at 9:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OK, I have yet to see Mage P'Tasa spawn, and been in zone 3 hours now. Hoping this does not turn out to be like some of the other posts listed here. We have had little problem with any of the mobs, and only deaths have been the Chanter from Mez/Slow, and the crazy Monk pulling. Luckily we have 2 Clerics along so no issues there. Will post more info after were done.
From zonein go over hte little bridge thing and go straight into the building directly South of you, turn left into the 2nd room (kill the 2 mobs in the 1st room before you do ;) ) the 2nd room has 2 mobs in it, PTasa's PH is the mob in the SE corner of the 2nd room, as Far as I know it will Always be a Male Forsaken Rev. I could be wrong but I have never seen it spawn as anything else.
Well, I had gone to hate for 23 days in a row sometimes there for as long as 13 hours at a time. The magi popped all of 3 times in all those days and much to my dismay he did not drop anything except the fire staff. I took a 3 week break and went back for another go at the earth staff, yet again my efforts yielded nothing but money. I had given up, after all I went 64 levels without my epic so I obviously didn't need it too badly right? One night a few weeks later my hunny told me to log on with him and he'd take me to hate...I scoffed at the idea, i was at this point sick to death of Hate and all its inhabitants and had sworn off all future trips there. Reluctanly I did log on and go with him to hate. The magi popped after roughly 2 hours and again he did not drop what I sought so desperately. My hunny told me to sit tight another 30 minutes or so, he had a lucky feeling he told me. The Magi room popped once more, a mummy, a chest, and a Forsaken Reverent (male) we killed all but the Male Revenant, we saved him for last. All hope was gone from me, the odds of getting it were feeling slim to none and slim just left town. So, he proceeded to pull the Revenant...lo and behold...the elusive Earth staff dropped, of course when he told me I thought he was playing a cruel joke on me but upon further inspection I found what he said to be true. Ineed the staff dropped, not off the Magi but off a ordinary male Revenant. That staff was the last piece I had needed and indeed was a more than worthy challege to obtain but all in all I think the effort put forth on my part to complete this Quest has made me appreciate it a little more even if the pet is not as good as the 60+ pets, but I suppose all in good time SOE will upgrade them ( all Epics). After all, A char's life effort it to obtain the "Epic" which is supposed to be the "Uberest" weapon / item for your class. Minor note : the spawn that dropped the staff for us that night popped in the left hand corner, the bottom corner of that sub room. Good luck to all future Magician's camping the staff and my god I hope it does not take you as long as it took me, nor as much money to buy the port stones to port our groups and any reps that we had incoming.
Hopefully those who are discouraged about hunting the Earth staff for the Mage epic will take heart from this.
I went to Hate last night with a 65 Necro friend. This was our first trip to the new revemaped plane and my first trip to Hate specifically for the purpose of hunting P'Tasa. We proceeded to clear the stairs to the right of the zone in and went to the room straight across with the piano where P'Tasa and his PHs spawn. We cleared the room once, moved back to the zone in and started pulling from a few other areas while we waited for repops. When his room respawned, the Necro pulled one of the mobs and who should come with him but Magi P'Tasa himeself. He was a very very easy kill and amazingly enough, he dropped the staff.
So my camp of Hate for the elusive Earth staff lasted all of about 30 minutes. I realize this seems very unfair to those who have spent countless hours there, but I don't post it to brag, but to help you take heart. If I can get lucky so quickly, persistence will pay off. Not to mention, in the new zone, the XP is pretty decent, the loot is good, and its a nice change from some of the zones you are used to.
If you haven't been to Hate lately, and if you've given up on ever seeing the Staff of Elemental Mastery: Earth, give it another try, you just might get lucky.
Good Luck
Zithryn 64 Mage of Quellious
P.S. To answer a question I just noticed below, he was NOT wielding the staff visibly.
Well last night he dropped the staff finally. After a few weeks of camping him. Our guild killed him last killed him 3 days ago and then last night. I belive its about 125 mobs till you spawn him including the mobs in his room across the stairs in that number. Last saturday he dropped a mage wand that allowed casting DD spell and nothing else. Lastnight he dropped staff by it self. So for all of you looking for the staff its real and it drops more commonly from what ive been told and seen for myself. I been visitng hate for 3 weeks and seen the staff drop twice so its more common now. Just have to have patients. Good Luck
Magi P'Tasa droped the Concordance of Black magic, The same one that drops from Innoruuk and Maestro, for the third turn part of the marsinger quest. I guess we don't have to kill the big bosses to get this sweet ranged item. Yea for the little guilds!
