Basically this fellow is a mini-dragon for the level 25ish range. He drops pretty good loot for his level and deals damage at a higher than normal rate.
I looted a "Soiled Evocers Robe" or somehting like that off him. Had pretty $hitty stats with a -9 to str if I remember correctly. Anyway point being that I think it is for a quest. Anyone have any clue if it is?
If you are worried about the amount of plat he drops then you've missed the point. This guy is much tougher than a typical 25th leveler. You can make much more plat farming the upper level kobolds for their bronze weapons. Just be kind and dont wipe out the whole population. Leave some for the others.
It should be noted that the late William S. Burroughs coined the term "Mugwump" in a short-story within his novel, "Naked Lunch." Burroughs' Mugwumps are a lot nastier than this Muglwump, though. Someone at Verant has been reading up.
You guys say this guy is a shaman and meleer, kinda like the beastlord from the new luclin expansion. But then you say he casts Whirl til you hurl, and thats what confuses me. Its an enchanter spell. Is he like part shaman, part warrior, and part enchanter? Lonladilie 19 enchanter Povar Server The White Phoenix Order
Since the only two spells I honestly remember affecting me in combat with this guy were Slow and Whirl Till You Hurl, I'd have to say he's an Enchanter who hits really, REALLY hard.
Could be this particular mob just defies class definition.
Does anyone know if this guy drops a paladin breasplate, and if so, what are the stats. I am lvl 32 and I have been hunting him for a while and I have only gotten 3 items off him. The Helm, Cast Iron Stein, and Soiled Evokers Robe. Hes easy for me to kill, I always finish him off with 2-3 bubs of hp left. I normally let the other chars in the zone have his loot since I can't use most of it. Please let me know if he drops a paladin breastplate similar to a Dusty Breasplate that I could use.
He drops an Erudite Paladin/Cleric only chainmail shirt that has some pretty decent stats. I don't recall what they are exactly, but it did have a Str and Wis bonus. It's called a Midnight Sea Chain Tunic, and has a pretty sweet graphic.
way back when the warrens was a new zone i checked it out and in a group we killed this guy, dropped a Soiled Evokers Robe that looks kinda cool, but the stats aren't all that great. i think they're something like 9ac 2int neg5cha 10sv fire and some agi
Muglwump its around 25, technically it is 'almost' a shammie... almost : he got around 1800 / 1900 hp , hits for 60 , up to 75 to a 29 pallie full armored (imagine if you are a caster, ouch). So no 18 could solo it, not even a 25 char could solo it. he cast, yes ... but not a lot, it trusts a lot more in its melee skills (no wonder, btw). As special skill he go a kind of massive attack : he goes on a Rampage, and hits everyone who he considers as a menace (so that attack will hit all melees fighting it, but as well all casters, healers , etc that aggroed him or helped). The room where he pops is pretty full with wandering kobolds and some rats: make sure you kill any 'Diseased Kobold' in the area you going to fight as any 'filthy rats', they will attack you and could be a trouble for caster trying to med up or even cast.
Repop time goes from 24 minutes to 90 minutes. He drops all the stuff listed in the equipment list. Know that sometimes he will drop 2 items of those at a time ( he always AT LEAST drops one, but sometimes you will gladly loot a shield and a pole, a pole and a stein, etc ), so waiting time is not bad if the group got several classes interested in different items. He also drops some potions: healing, inv , etc.. not bad :)
Btw, loot trivial rules are a bit more complex than the usual statement : if it could attack you or gives you exp does not mean you get the loot. Some mobs attack you thou they are a trivial challenge, some mobs wont give you exp but are not a trivial challenge, some mobs trivial for a char could become non trivial if its grouped with another char.. for instance Muglwump is trivial for a 40 druid, but its not trivial if that druid is grouped with a 29 pallie; i still have to check it a bit further.. pallie inflicted more than 50 % of the dmg, while druid healed and doted once. Anyway it was not a trivial kill for the PARTY.
Really, really good post up until that last paragraph. You've got the tactics down with Mugglewump really well. Note: He loves to cast Slow, and once in a while tries to get off a Whirl Till You Hurl spell (which actually affected me once, and I swear it really did make me nauseated).
Trivial loot codes really aren't all that complex. I think you're reading a bit too deep into the messages you get when you kill something.
You WILL NOT get the trivial message unless a magic, no drop, or lore item drops off the mob. Some mobs WILL attack you even if they are trivial (diseased kobolds, for instance). If you are grouped with a high level character and kill a mob that they would not get XP for, it's a trivial kill and you cannot loot special items from the corpse. This does not include bronze weapons, bamboo splint armor, and the like. They aren't lore, no drop, or magic.
I've spent MONTHS in the Warrens. It's one of the best zones in the game at low levels...the only problem is the difficulty in finding a decent group at ANY hour of the day.
I was a 15 cleric at the time grouped with 2 25 warriors and a 20 wizzy, we tried to kill muglwump, the first atempt we tried to pull him out hence many adds wich killed us all, second time we went to where he spwans and died again, and the third time we pulled him to the zone so we wouldnt die any ways the third time we got him down where you couldnt see red on his hp bar both warriors dead wizzy oom and me kept getting resisted and couldnt hit him and died of adds, we all zoned back to find him full hp at his spawn point again
How the heck did you "pull him to the zone"?? he is an XL creature and there is a small archway just before the diseased area that he cant get through. (to keep high levels from "pulling to zone", dot, then zone and letting a newbie loot no drop items thus making the "trivial code" useless)
I have seen this mob at the zone getting his head kicked in. And I have been killed in a tunnel in everfrost by an Ice Giant that couldn't have fit in after me. Apparently size doesn't matter to mob's.
A lvl 26 warrior, lvl 26 ranger and a lvl 21 monk took this big tadpole out easy. And just as a pair of 26's it involved two of me- I died and ran back and killed him with my partner. He does not drop anything that you can sell as far as I can tell
Unless you want to try to sell a 1-charge invis potion. (I did try, personally -- nobody laughed but nobody wanted it, that's for dang sure.) Or perhaps you could try and sell that potion of light healing? As far as I can tell the potions he drops are Verant encouraging you to make a 1-10 newbie happy. :)
killed him 5 times today and a few the day b4 with wizard friend, wizard really wants the robe but it didn't drop, with a 2.5 hour spawn times its a BIT of a disappointment, all the other no drop items he dropped were destroyed because no one in the zone could use them
A 22 ranger and myself(24 mage) tried this guy and he obliterated us. The weird thing about it was my mana just seemed to dissapear. I swear I had a full bar of mana when we started. Sent my pet in to take the initial damage, cast Malaise(resist), Shock(resist), Malaise(hit). Looked at my mana bar it was below 1/4. Hit him with 2 more shocks for full dmg and was oom. Needless to say Mugl finished the ranger and was still at almost 1/2 hp and a mage oom was no challenge. Just curious if anyone experienced a similar mana loss?
Seems if he's not blue to you he will resist just about everything. Took him with a 20 chanter that said he could only get choke to stick, out of all his spells. 24 shaman succeeded in slowing him and that was about it, if memory serves. But with a low to mid 20s group consisting of any three of rogue, tank, monk, healer he should drop easy.
it hurt i am 36 shaman you must he 60% mana or you will die he has a rampage skill which is 75 points of dmg in hit 1-4 time in a or grrrr died once then i kicked his but all over the warens Drops: cast iron stien 5/31 3 wis and 3 ac 2 stam and an eurodie sk helm 2 int 2 str 1dex and effect reclaim energy =) be safe all
Tried to solo this oversized tadpole at thirty, got obliterated; even after using Harm Touch. He's one frickin' tough Froglock Tadpole. GFinally killed him with a thirty magician and her pet; common drops seem to be Potions of Invisibility andthat Magician NO DROP Fishing Pole thingy.
The loots are really great for this level. He has a very high resistance to the wizards root but a really low to fire (a mag 21 blast him for 148dmg). There is still one problem : this monster has GATE so don't miss him when he has low hp!!! Ulmwe magician in my 21 year (I have already killed him one time with a 33wiz but he left us the two other time.)
So as a young troll I conned this guy and he was indifferent. Of course, every darn doggy in the place wanted to taste my blood. So I'm wondering, is it because we're both big and green and hence he feels some sort of kinship, or what? Interesting (if not unheard of) that the faction hit is for Clan Kobolk but he is apparently NOT on Kobolk faction. Is he agro to you soft-skinned little people?
First off, if you arent aware yet, nothing in the warrens drops anything if it cons green to you (verant's anti-farming. I personally love the idea and hope they impliment it in a lot more zones / do it in the already existing ones) There are tricks around it, but that's lame. If youre looking to farm, dont corrupt our precious Odus.
Ok, When I was killing him, it was me, a 24 erudite sk at the time, and Neain, 25 warrior. We took him with little to no problem. He does have (i believe) a 2 hour spawn time, (could be 2 1/2 or 3, it's been a while, but at least 2) same as the Prince, Batlord, Huntmaster, King, and High shaman. the only named mobs that do not run on this timer are the Smithy and (cook?) who if i remember were 20 or 30 minute. The rest of the named mobs were reasonably easy in comparison except the King + priest, we never did truly try to take them til we were both around 27, and leaving the area anyway.
Once my shadowknight was up to 27, I could solo the muglwump with ease, but since I already had the only drop i could use, I had no point to stay.
Other loots I know of that he drops: I once got a Potion of Invis Helm of Rodissan (erud sk only) Fishing pole (mage only, like +2 int) and if i remember there was a erudite pal/clr only item. Hope i helped a bit.
Im a 48 rogue, and last night after my Hole group disbanded, i figured id try out the Warrens, as id never gone there before. I killed every named in the entire zone, save for the packmaster. Only on the Muglwump and The High Shaman and the Krode Diviner did I get the trivial message. When i get that message, does it mean it was about to drop something, and im too high to get it? Also, could a 30 chanter solo this zone and still get the loots?
TRIVIAL LOOT CODE means, basically, that if the MOb is "too green," however that is defined, then it won't drop any loot that is NO DROP, LORE, or MAGIC, it will drop its regular loot though.
IE if it would've dropped 100pp, a rusty short sword, and a NO DROP +2 cha earring, the message would occur and you wouldn't get the earring.
Well, if I could only remember the name... But when we killed him (28 war 30 dru 33 rog) without too much effort, he dropped a no drop 1hb weapon with 3 wisdom, looking like a mug. Our druid got it of course. If only I could remember the name... and all the stats...
