Not Bad
# May 02 2003 at 2:01 PM Rating: Decent
I often find that saveing money is nice, and with this in mind i normally run to LoY zones via paineel and the warrens. Today i came through and like to kill the funny named mobs, killed the tadpole thingy today and he dropped this.

This item is clickable from the inventory and needs cats eye agates as a reagent. Not a bad free buff if you need one, and fun

I identified this shield, and it identifies as "Item Lore: Shield of Tsanirk". I cannot find any quest info about this, so it must be an unsolved quest.

*SUPOSEDLY* if you sell an item to a merchant when he sells it back it's recharged - seeing as how this is no-drop though, even if it's true, it's probobly moot with this item - I'd just recomend getting another one.
Skunks have feelings too.

I am an Erudite SK, when i was 35 and going back to Paineel i always take a look to 2 mobs who still give xp and still drop stuff and con green to me.
The Kobold King and the Mug.
Mud drop the shield, helm of the Ridossan(only sk erudite whish is a other part of the Paineel quest : legging of the Ridossan), an enchie lantern, a magician fishing pole, a necro robe ,a paly breastchest and some potion too(invis a light heal).
I never meet him from when i go out of 35, maybe he still drop at higher level too.
All those item else the potion or whatever are Lore and NoDrop.

It says he drops an etched chitin sheild?
and yet people say he drops a fishig pole?
what does he REALLY drop?

He drops a good variety of things. Besides the common drops of invisiblity potions, light healing potions, and opals, he also drops:

Helm of Ridossan: Kick-*** Erudite SK only helm. The ONLY way an SK can cast Reclaim Energy, as far as I know.

Etched Chitin Shield

Mage-only Fishing pole

Soiled Evoker's Robes: Necro/Wizzie only robes. Cool look and pretty damned decent stats.

Midnight Sea Chain Tunic: Erudite Paladin/Cleric only chainmail. Very sweet graphic, nice color. I know 45+ clerics who still wear this stuff.

Enchanter-only Lantern

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, though there may be more.

One of the things that I like about this dungeon is that the loot does fit the levels of people who should be hunting in this zone. Although the Muglwump is a tough mob, a solid group around 18-20 shouldn't have any problems with it. The shield dropped on the second spawn and my group awarded it to me.

Personally, yes, there are other shields out there that are better (CGS comes to mind), but the stats aren't too shabby either. I play a paladin and I'll take a Rune 1 if it means saving my dwarven behind while running to the zone sometime in the near future. Maybe there should be more than two charges, but it still beats none.

As for it being no drop, I don't see any problem with it. Even lore items can be farmed if you have someone that can port out and hand it off to friends at the nearest portal. Let someone lower in level feel good that they have an item that they can keep for themselves.

The graphic looks nice, and I've had to turn off my view of seeing other people inspect me. It got to be too much.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 04 2001 at 6:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I got bored fighting in here with my 18 Ranger so i brought in my 40 druid. I could attack and kill anything in here EXCEPT Muglwump. I tried casting on him out of the water, in the water with him, standing on him. I tried meleeing him and nothing. Couldnt touch him at all.He didnt aggro. I got the message that my spells were being cast just nothing after that. VI protection since it is a lower level special mob that has a good loot table for youguns? Other wise it gets dusted and everything rots since its loot is so class specific and no drop.

drops off Muglewump, giant tadpole thingy. camped a lot, but he is around 26-27. blue to my 28 warrior. cons blue to a 25 as well, but Mugglewump annihilated the guy. so he is about 27ish. btw, all named NPCs in the Warrens should con blue up until about 35
Looks awsome
# Mar 17 2001 at 2:15 AM Rating: Good
i got this sheild after i helped someone kill the giant froglok tadpole since he couldnt use it the sheild looks awsome even if it is really heavy. looks sorta like a giant scale

The Muglwump drops this in The Warrens, along with many other items, all no drop lore magic. He Has dropped for me a enchanter only lantern of the violet flame, a magician only fishing pole, this shield, and a Midnight Sea Mail Coat which is Erudite cleric/pally only, also one more a SK erudite only helm with effect reclaim energy. Mulgwump spawns about every 45 minutes or so and drops 2 items a kill, all no drop. 35 wariror he was high green, but he has a TON!! of HP's for his level, good luck to ya.

Rune I is a lvl 16 or 20 enchanter spell, gives you about 50 hp worth of damage absorption before it dies. If this is only attainable to lvl 20ish players at that level the mobs are hitting for 30 to 40ish, 2 charges aren't going to go very far hehe.
chiten shield

I thought this was a 4 - 20 level place???? Why would this guy be blue to a 35 druid? I have a 12th druid I was hoping to get one of these for!
I hope you gave your soul to your god; because your **** is mine!
RE: Levels....
# Sep 10 2001 at 5:46 AM Rating: Default
Level 25 mobs still give experience to a 37 so Muglwump wouldn't be trivial till sometime after that. A 40 Mage was killing the King yesterday on Brell and said that HE's still not trivial to him.

This drops off Muglwump, one of the named spawns (a giant tadpole) ... the bulk of the mobs are lower level kobolds and bats.

(He was blue both times I saw him at 34)

Confirmed blue to 34. also blue to a 32 necro that was there. easy solo for a 34 paly, plus some pretty decent exp at that level. first time dropped a Evoker's Robe (WIZ\NECRO only) second time dropped this shield. spawn time on muglwump is about an hour, give or take 5 mins.

#Gohda, Posted: Mar 15 2001 at 1:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Its decent considering the lvl of the zone.

Perhaps this would have been cooler if it weren't NO DROP. The AC is decent and the saves are nice too. And if the effect can be used without a bug, it is a nice peice of armor. But making it NO DROP takes the edge off. Since high-level players will be unable to get one, I would think that the ones who CAN get them would certainly not mind making a few plat in sales.

They wouldn't be farmed as often since they are LORE. But I bet a few high-level players would be willing to help out the young ones by buying a shield just for looks.

And what happens when you get a better shield, or decide to duel wield? Destroying this seems like a waste, but the alternative is to clutter up your bank vault.

Well, since this item has charges, I would expect that once the charges were used up you should be high enough level to get your self something better...

For Clerics, Druids, and Shaman either a non-shield item or the Charred Guardian Shield.

For Paladins the Charred Guardian Shield.

For Warriors - Dual wield is kicking in so there is no waste.

I agree though:
If I were to get one, I would want the ability to sell or trade it off to any higher level player stupid enough to buy it!!!
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 16 2001 at 10:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LOL it is suppose to be for LOW LEVEL people not you High level camping scum that come in and take all of our newbie stuff!
#Tyrithin, Posted: Jul 22 2001 at 11:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) High level people can't come in and take it. The only people who can loot this shield are those who can still get XP off the Mugglewump, idiot.
