Basically this fellow is a mini-dragon for the level 25ish range. He drops pretty good loot for his level and deals damage at a higher than normal rate.

This overblown tadpole
# Dec 24 2002 at 2:32 PM Rating: Default
I was in the Warrens with my 40th Level Cleric the past couple of nights pulling trains and knocking them all down with "Word of Souls" for faction. Anyway, got bored with knocking out 20-30 kobolds at a time and decided to hunt the rares for their lewtz;O). I got to this tadpole and conned him...found he was indifferent green, so I says to myself "Time to take greenie down." Start with instill, hit with Wrath multiple times, he breaks free and hits me for 70-75 double attack. Whoa, tough greenie! Instill once again and continue with Wrath till he dies. Whew, that was almost embarrassing. Loot him and get a potion of light healing and an awesome fishing pole(till I find it is no-drop Magician only!) Anyhow, take him 3 more times, each time he seems progressively harder...the last time I had to gate because I was 20m and he didn't even lose half life! Anyhow, in a nutshell, here is some things to remember:

1. filthy rats and diseased kobolds aggro regardless of level. Take them down quick or deal with extra hits and spell interrupts.

2. Hypothesis - he seems to get progressively harder with each fight, if you try to farm from him. Worthless anyway, since the lewtz, with exception to the potions, are no-drop.

3. His faction, even after taking him down 3 times, stays indifferent.

4. He hits hard for his level(

5. When you get him below one bubble of health, he trys to run, but glitches and stays in the same place when he gets to the room entryway, jumping up and down. Save root and snare when he gets to this point, just keep hittin him)

6. He dropped one potion each time I killed him...mostly light healing but one 1 charge invis potion.

Hope this information helps all you aspiring tadpole hunters out there)

At this time, I am a LvL 44 DRUID. When I take several lower LvL friends, strangers, or guildmates over to Odus to slay the great Mugglewump; there are some things I keep in mind. One important thing is the level difference between the members of your party compared to the many kobolds that inhabit this zone. It is best if most of the kobolds /con GREEN to the party members. (for obvious reasons of course) Make note that high LvL green con's will often attack anyway if a player is at a low enough LvL.

There are basically two directions to take in order to arrive at The Mugglewump. One of these paths will take you close to the BATLINGS. A few of these can cause all sorts of issues in trying to control a group of players and conserve mana at the same time. This is why i'd suggest taking your group along the other route. This second route will take you by many kobolds instead. While in battle or even before battle...Kobolds like the diseased one's will try to crash your party. Many speak to me of deaths directly caused by so many frustrating kobolds joining in the battle. A good idea is to slay them as they come. It's better to clean many of them out rather than to have them join in when you least expect it.

Make it clear to your party that sitting to med or heal will often cause more harm than good. In most areas, you'd get the same results of walking up and punching a kobold as you would get if you were to sit down in an attempt to med/heal. If possible, use your HIDE skill and make sure it actually worked before you sit. If you don't have the ability to HIDE, you could ask a group mate if they have INVISIBILITY available to cast on you.

When I take groups here for a little adventure, I remember to SOW everyone right before entering the zone. This makes sure that everyone has a fresh one on. Also, ahead of time I memorize my strongest AOE spell along with a group-port spell for evacuation. My AOE is only used if there is a moment of chaos. Always making sure that it's long casting time does not put anyones life in danger. (it'd be better to heal quickly than to risk waiting for the AOE to cast) There is always the chance for an interuption when kobolds begin to frenzy. Try to plan ahead for this to compensate by casting your spells a bit earlier than you normally might. This is especially important in terms of evacuating.

If your party is there for only loot and not EXP, using INVIS works good for traveling to the Mugglewumps lair without being hassled. (assuming they are around LvL 18 and above) In outings such as this, I normally begin casting my evacuation spell a bit before the player begins to loot. This is only because the player becomes visable when looting. Causing the many kobolds to frenzy.

The Mugglewump has a few no-drop items for certian classes. Take players along with you that are of those classes. It is also ok to take folks along who are not one of the listed classes that could use the no-drop items. The Mugglewump often drops potions which can be used by ALL/ALL. Or perhaps a Peridot which may sell for a few plat.

This thing was light blue to my 36 druid, and i was almost left wishing i'd had a fighting partner. My root and snare were no good, i just kept nuking and praying, and finally it was dead - having taken me down to 12/871hp. And all i got for my trouble was some silly potion.
Hits Hard.

Man this guy is hard....well hits hard anyway.

If you tick him off enough he cast a Spell that makes him go all Anarchy on ya. Ended up hitting me for 84 damage. Heh thanks to my pet I could go back and heal up a bit.

I agree with the post below, this IS a mini dragon, although doable by a small group instead of a guild. I killed him when I was level 28 (monk) with a level 31 paladin (although, pally was there cause he lost his corpse, if I remember correctly and wanted a set of cold iron). Almost immediatly he casted slow on me, I was tanking (more ac), and he could hit me for up to 72 points of damage, a bit more than a lvl 25 should hit for, but hit slower than average I noticed. He had more than average hit points and procced Whirl til you Hurl, easily resisted though. He also used rampage a bit after he was down half life. I just needed mend for this one, paladin didn't need to heal me once. Only thing that kind of ticked me off were the diseased kobalds that joined in, causing me to hit less...

Tadpole
# Jun 21 2002 at 3:46 PM Rating: Default
I was able to take this overgrown tadpole down with my 30 half elf warrior at half hp. used a Black alloy longsword and icetooth claws, armor worn was crafted mainly, cept for my bp which was Ry'gorr. Killed em 3 times total and was never over half health and only once got below 1 bub of health during fight. The diseased rats are more bothersome to me than this guy.

with the slow that the muglewump casts your "***" will be face down on the ground. yes, you're level 32, yes, you can own a_large_rat_01. but i wouldnt try to take him down at your level and underestimating him like that.
being cocky will be your ultimate demise.

IDIOTS!!
# Apr 15 2002 at 2:27 AM Rating: Default
Allright you ALL are idiots, The Muglwump is A dragon class, It Dosen't cast whirl till you hurl it proc's it on a sucessful bash, It rampages after loss of 1 bub of health, and casts slow, nothing else, only slow.

The drops are many and all no-drop, so if you plan on looting it, you gota be there, the spawn time is 3 hrs, (i timed it), Most of his drops are Erudite only, (stein, sheild, and Lanturn aren't)

Now if you have any other questions about this DRAGON, feel free to ask me

20 group
# Mar 25 2002 at 4:04 AM Rating: Default
in a group of 5. me <bard of 20 seasons> a 21 cleric, 20 warrior, 21 paladin and a 16 druid had very little trouble killing the overgrown tadpole. the paladin and warrior and i meleed it, with me singing guardian and elemetal rythm, hymm and anthem. plus the cleric buffed us against magic so we all resised the whirl till you hurl bit. he hit pretty hard, ranging from 30 to 75 a hit. but between the 3 of us melee and the cleric and the druid healing, we had no problems at all.

I hope it went better for you than me.

I attacked this bad-boy with my 39th cleric and he very nearly killed me. (My cleric isn't well equipped though.)

He hits in the 50 to 70 range and resisted every one of my roots. When I attacked him in the pond my Wrath spell 'impacted' on the top of the water and didn't affect him.

Muggle usually spawns every two to two and one-half hours. although he can break his routine (rare) and pops in 30 mins or under two hours.
Other spawn times are: The King 60min , Named Shaman, 60 min, Big Bat with the hat is on Muggle's Schedule, Diviner 45mins , Prince 45 mins, Packmaster (usually his rat Place Holder) about 20 mins (havent really timed him , but he pops fast), Ranger Doggie that drops the Bow is 45 min.

This guy cast's whirl till you hurl so it led me to believe that he was an enchanter but then I heard hes a dragon class and even with my small experiance with dragons{0} I figure that dragon mobs cast all kinds of nasty little spells

PS has the slow spell "slow" too
