no pet is completely immune to resists, they are just very resistant compared to the mobs at their level. thanks for the heads up btw, i didnt know these were so low level, i might go kill some now.
I don't know if that's true or not... did Verant say they're not immune? My necro fire dot sticks on almost anything, all the time. And it's never once stuck on fire elementals or other fire mobs.
They have a 150 dd freez thingy with rnage so its like a breeth of fire. Drops are usually nothing or a bile with a uncommon to rare on teh other items.
I summoned a kodiak (fire pet), gave him full chain, 2 swords, burnout 2 and expedience. I sent in the pet and nuked with cinderbolt (350 to 380 dd) and cast rain of blades (273 dot) until he was on the run. He almost killed my pet, 8 percent of hp left after the battle. Not good xp for the fight, but occasionally you get good loot. I used up almost all my mana fighting it as well. If I decide to do it on a regular basis, it's gonna be in a group.
Are these things soloable? I have been soloing the Cave Kodiaks, and a few of these wander near. Looking at their level, they appear to be at or lower than the kodiaks. {edit} Need to fix signature. Teigyr is level 41 now.
You might be able to, they don't hit any harder than Giants. They have a nasty Ice proc that goes off frequently in melee combat. I got hit for 100+ several times by it, but because he was slowed and heavily poisoned by my DoTs...he didn't last long.
I used to be able to solo these things before the patch (lvl 41 Shaman) but no more ! Verant what kind of stuff are you smoking ? These are level 28-34 mobs at best ! I was nuked by Judgement of the Gods (lvl 50+ cleric spell) for 900+ damage by one of these things ! Since when can 34 mobs cast 50+ spells ?
They are certifiable idiots ! Saw a 55 Shaman friend get wasted by a Young shardwurm that is super green to him because they can cast spells they shouldn't be able to for 20+ levels !

Okay I have two questions: 1.) Is there a faction hit on these with CoV? 2.) How often do the spells drop off of them?
I'm a lvl 45 wizzy who needs a couple of these spells. I was just wondering if this will wreck my dragon faction if I try to camp them and if it will, how many am I gonna have to kill to get the spell drops. Thanks for the info...

do these drop the eyes and legs or not have killed at least 300 of them over a long time of grouping and soloing all i have seen is about 5 biles 7claws 5tunics.
For anyone that may think they can solo one of these lower than lvl 39, don't try it. I am a 39th druid with 200wisdom and a few mana items on top of that.I decided to try and solo one of these cause they have been a blue /con since lvl 33 at least.I cast all my self buffs and DS, and went for it. In the end i killed it, but it took all my mana and kiting skills to pull it off. Not to mention i never got cast on....so my advice is wait a few more lvl's or have alot of chanter mind buffs before trying.

My lvl 12 druid was up there and this thing saw trough camo, it never attacked though, think that my necro using gather shadows can pass, also a rogue using hide/sneak coned indifferent to them
Has anyone ever had this happen we where fighting last night in the GD we pulled a Young ShardWurm. (42 Druid, 42 Warrior) We started the fight with snare root and the Ro’s debuff and then DOT’s (also the warrior was using the silks that have like 3 charges of root the ones from CC). Things where going great till we got the Young ShardWurm to below half life and then all hell broke loose, it started to cast like crazy and we could not do any damage to it at all I had enough manna to cast Fire Strike 6 time witch is a 294 DD spell at 42 for a total of 1764 Pts. of damage, mind you this is after it is over half dead. At this point I’m OOM and very high on the agro list for chain casting and I was a little below half life and then all of the sudden bam “Loading Please Wait” like close to 350 Pts. of damage in like 2 sec. from a lvl 35 MOB new one for me the warrior for away. Does anyone have any ideas of what might have happened other than very bad luck?
Me SK. All me tizmic killin spots were camped so me went over in hill neer dragon circle where there are some wanderers. Affer me had murdered some dis young shardwurm ambles up. Being LOM me simply went invis and den ran up to take good look. Dat mistake, it apparently sees invis. It claw me twice for 6 an 8 den blast me for 131. So me hit shadowstep which move me to valley next to dragon circle, and den Fiegn deth. But the point be dat dis one at least saw Invis
Technically, they can't see thru invis. The vast majority I've seen couldn't (I'm an SK). However, this is not to say that there were not the odd one or two that did. The reason some can is, I believe, down to the elder shardwurms. Sometimes these can't see thru my invis, sometimes they can. This is, I assume dependent on how long they've been spawned - in other words, have they had chance to cast see invis on themselves (and anyone else - this being the point). It's the only think that makes any sense to me.
Summary, as i'm sure that doesn't all make that much sense: Generally speaking young shardwurms can't see thru invis. If you find one that can, the chances are it had see invis cast on it, most likely by the elder shardwurms. As for elder shardwurms, they most likely WILL be able to see thru invis, if they can't, it's most likely because they haven't had chance to cast it on themselves yet.
I think that made more sense the second time.
Salvestrom.
Yeah, I admit it - I just wanted to see my name in print.
Was running to the Dragon ring with me druid friend, both invis and sowed when one of these aggroed onto me, couple a hits and a 130 dd and I'm down a bub or so of health ... I then legged it to ring where it was kindly killed by a monk :)
what I don't really understand is why people run through places where the peeps can kill them EVEN if they are invis WITHOUT CONNING THEM as they pass! When I was in Najena w/ my pally at 21 and had invis and invis vs undead, I conned everything as I went. This saved my hide because a red con summon there saw me through it, so I didn't go near him, though he was in my path. Just seems kinda funny about high lvl peeps don't know basic safety, lol.
Errrr.... Nice Najena story, but last time I checked, you couldn't have both Invis and Invis to Undead up at the same time. Unless you were alternating between the two.
Your main point is still a good one - con as you go!
Claws drop pretty often I think. I helped to kill two of these and claws dropped both times. As far as a 28 warrior soloing these, very doubtful, even with a breastplate...these things have tons of HP for their level. I'd find a healer to help you :)
Hey I'm 39 wizzy with an ok 181 int...hey it's good for a human allright!
Love soloing these guys takes nearly a full bar but the exp is nice, (1/3a blue) and the loot is good plus it's a challange...and they are slower than you run so you don't need sow. Plus it's fun to have people stop and stair as you solo someof the coolest looking mobs in the game.
