For you young shaman wondering why we would want a dot that was not as good damage to mana ratio as our poison ones;

(1) This dot has high dps (damage per second)

(2) This dot has no DD (direct damage(which has a high chance to break root)) component, making root dotting a lot easier. at max range from mob Pull with malise, cast root Cast this and epic back up to max casting range and cast Bane of nife or envenomed bolt if ur pre 56 and then if the DD portion breaks root reroot the mob as its running toward you.

This method becomes better for xp than tanking a slowed mob with stoic chain canning when you start getting to mobs that hit for over 300 like in PoP.

Me personally ill put on like 5 or so dots with this method.
Stacking
# Jan 23 2004 at 11:44 PM Rating: Decent
Since one of the early 2003 patches, all dots stack. You and a Necro can cast the same dot, or you can stack your own Poison or Disease dots. The reason this line of spells is useful, is because they don't last as long as Poison based dots (with the exception of focus items), and they aren't as high aggro wise.

Just to be ****, let me point out that this is only partially true. Most dots stack except under a few limited circumstances. Certain debuffing dots, such as the necro dots effecting AC and STR, do not stack or have stacking rules. Also, a mob can only have 36 determental effects burning at a time. Once 36 debuffs, dots, or other determental effects are cast, all further effects will no stack. This would happen only in raid situations, even in raids its rare to see the 36-slot blocking.
RE: Stacking

IF your guild has been raiding Druav in PoF and many melees have the sword with the Boil Blood proc even a 36 slot limit can cause problems if there are four or more necros present.

In practice it happens rarely, but I have seen a necro get quite irritated at his massive dot being blocked by something doing 22/tick.
About that stacking issue
# Dec 06 2003 at 8:19 PM Rating: Default
About that stacking issue i dont know if anyone else has noticed this it is either a bug or stacking issues with our DOTS are rumors but ALL OF MY DOTS STACK, i havent actually checked this for a month or two but i was using 3 poison and 3 disease at once on a friend of mine. they all stacked. i dont actually use this because it would take up to many spell slots but i have used two poison dots at once instead of a disease for faster dmg a few times. i will check this again tonight and post back if it is stil like this.

Just got this ...
# Nov 02 2003 at 7:31 PM Rating: Excellent
Just got this for 410 points in BB camp. I would hv to say I am happy w/ this for the most part. The Damage to mana seems reasonable and comparable to Bane of Nife, with a shorter duration to deliver the damage. This spell can be resisted w/ Sv Magic and I would recommend leading w/ resistance debuffs first. The 24 second recover time makes resists especially frustrating. Hvn't Malo yet, but I think this spell will be even better when I hv an unrestible Malise-type spell to back it up. Works well by itself and w/ Bane, although very mana intensive to br castin all those spells each combat. In a recent LDoN adventure that included another shaman to cover slows, i did a Malosini, Bane, Anathema combo that did very high DPS (nearly 500 a click). Grp was impressed that the shaman could put out that much damage. Unless I got resisted, the 24 second recast time was actually useful, because it helped me know when my DoT was about to wear off. Agro wasn't too much of a problem, and a shaman shd be prepared for/capable of handling agro anyways.
All in all, I would say this spell is useful in the right grp situation, and a bit more useful in solo situations. I'm not sure if I recommend it; but depending on your play style and the kind of shaman you play, this spell may be just wht you were lookin for to help up your DPS.

IS this spell really in BBM camp?
# Oct 12 2003 at 10:16 AM Rating: Decent
I would like someone to confirm its in the BBM camp. My doubt is b/c there are lower level curse spells that are not available in the BBM camp... I must have this spell! Smiley: banghead

The lower level curse spells you refer too are offered at the BB Mistmoore camp. You must have enough points in that camp to see them however, but just to confirm i can see them so they are there.

The Shammy version of Remove Lesser Curse is NOT avail at BBMM camp. Only the Cleric version is. Since its NO DROP that will be a real waste of points. Smiley: frown

The Shaman Remove Lesser Curse is sold in Efrost.

OK, i've seen so much misinformation and half-
truths about LDoN spell locations that must cause
no end of grief to readers of these boards. Smiley: banghead

I'm sure posters are well-meaning but, c'mon
it's frustrating when folks don't confirm their
info. Smiley: jester

This should help resolve all the mass confusion. Here are 2 webpages that have reliable info....

Not sure he is referring to REMOVE curse but rather the (level 19 is it?) curse spell "Odium". I believe it is available at BB. For me, I'll be saving for this one not buying Odium. Did buy Pack Shrew tho, and it's a very useful little spell for not too many points spent.

Actually, Odium is sold at the Guk camp. It's also a level 44 spell not 19. When I went to double check this on the link for Odium, I noticed you had posted there only 10min earlier...... /shrug Smiley: drunk

To tell ya the truth, I have NO IDEA what he really is referring to because there aren't any other Shammy curse spells sold at BBcamp period besides Anathema. I merely assumed that unless he was making it up, he must've been talking about something he saw for sale that was curse related. Smiley: confused

This just reinforces my theory that this whole LDoN expansion has caused massive dementia to the EQ populace.. Hella Spooky!!!

Of course if SoE hadn't made it impossible to see what each camp was selling unless you had gobs of points, we wouldn't be at the mercy of this silliness. Oh well, it's just one more dimension of the challenge of the game.

Have fun guys, and BEWARE THE MISINFORMATION CONSPIRACY!! Smiley: sly

the one thing i can see about curse spells is there is no resist curse gear/buffs so in pvp i would think that these would get to even the most well outfited player just my oppinion

i found that SvMagic would be the resist that works on this line of spells just wanted to clear that up
Looks?

What does this spell look like when cast? Thats all id wanna get it for is looks being since im lvl 65 and have way better dots.
RE: Looks?
# Feb 06 2004 at 7:36 AM Rating: Decent
This spell is very nice against mob that resist poison and disease for example Shissar mobs all resist poi/dis line of spells and our only useable dot until LDoN was epic, same with some of the BoT mobs..I plan on getting this one and the Bane so I can dble DoT curse only mobs when soloing.
RE: Looks?
# Nov 14 2003 at 11:04 AM Rating: Decent
As far as looks go, this has one of the coolest graphics for a spell that I've seen. Hits mob w/ a black cloud and red sparklys. Then several ghostly hands claw at the mob from out of the cloud (ala` LDoN curse trap graphics ... cept smaller hands).

BTW Nytewynd, there is a lvl 64 version (Bane I believe), that shd not suck for u. Its just over 600 points in EC/Rujarkan.

I don't mean to put you down but i belive there is one thing you didnt notice about this spell. It is not like any other shaman DOT, in that it does not do initial dmg. I belive that this is the only current Shaman DOT like this and as such is very very useful. Without initial damage, Root spells will not be broken, thus if you can pull with one DOT,root, and then cast this DOT you have no fear of being pummeled uness the root wears off naturally. I for one will begin doing massive amounst of LDON adventures again for this spell, all i can say is :well worth it.

The level 65 shaman poison dot dont have a initial dd on them, so the new curse dots arent the only ones w/out an initial dd. thought the lvl 60 one didnt have a dd on it but guess they changed that

Sweet Spell
# Sep 19 2003 at 7:19 AM Rating: Decent
The sweet part of the curse spells is the short duration. They put out nice damage and aren't wasted in a group because the mob dies too quick. Even the poison dots that last 60s don't usually have enough time to complete before the Mob is down. The 24s Recast time might be a problem if the group is rolling through an LDON dungeon but then again you may not want to cast this in every fight anyway because of manna.
Guessing...
# Sep 13 2003 at 11:04 AM Rating: Default
They are not at the BBM camp, that's trap spells and Pack Shrew there. Guessing SRo, since that's the Guk dungeons, and Deepest Guk is crawling with cursed frogs -- but I only have significant points in Mistmoore so far so can't confirm.

Actually ANATHEMA is at BB Mistmoore Camp.

Apparently you didnt have enough MM Theme points to allow you to see it for sale there. It costs 410pts.

Also I have heard that the lvl64 Curse DoT called BANE is sold in the EC Rujarkian camp.
If Anathema seemed spendy .... yer gonna be taxed 650Rujarkian points for this one Smiley: jawdrop

Re: Dakomodox
# Sep 09 2003 at 7:59 AM Rating: Excellent
This spell is not useful as a replacement for the poison line of dots, but as something to stack with them. Once this goes live shamen will have 3 different lines of dots to stack on mobs, disease, poison, and curse based.
how many ticks
# Aug 31 2003 at 3:11 AM Rating: Default

Description says curse counter:16, one counter = one tick, right? So then why does it say 5 ticks below it? and if it is only 5 ticks what use could this spell serve, when bane of nife is same mana and little more than 2x the dmg.

Counters indicate how much cure has to be put on the target in order to cure the effect. So it would take enough Remove Curse casts to take off 16 counters if you wanted to cure this.

Live

If this spell does get live shamans will get ALOT better at solo'n, not that they already arent, but if this spell gets to the live servers and can stack like and with DoT's (the poison ones, like Envenomed Bolt) its will be a good day for shaman
