Ok, Will you only have to finish the quest once? Or is there a chance you will be dubiously to the the militia still? Cuz i really don't wanna waste any more time on a quest that does nothing for me?

This quest is given by Guard Valon at the toll booth in the Commonlands. You must have a certain faction level with the Freeport Militia in order to receive it.
The Orc Picks quest (also given by Valon) can be used to increase faction. (Dialogues needed.) You'll receive an 8-slot container called "Bag for Cutthroat Rings". Cutthroat Insignia Rings are dropped pretty commonly from dervish cutthroats located in the Commonlands and North Ro. Combine them in the container and turn in the result to Guard Valon. Faction increases: Coalition of Tradefolk Underground The Freeport Militia Faction decreases: Knights of Truth Priests of Marr You also receive a Militia Armory Token for use in the Reserve Militia quest. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

He says something like "If the Militia trusts you enough we may give you other tasks" or something along those lines. It just means, he won't give you the bag until you do the orc pawn pick quest enough to raise your faction. *theory*

how good is the xp in this quest for a 13th lvl mage?
Can you wear the tunic which is the result of this quest?? If not then it won't help you much to do this.

How come you morons cant understand that you have to do the orc pick quest first if you dont have faction. LISTEN get the bag... ok you still w/ me.... collect the rings... Hey im still talkin dont let your attention span get ahold of you now LISTEN... after you get the bag full.. HIT COMBINE... the bag will change and you cannot open it any longer... hey get your hand offa the mouse and keep reading....after that take it back to the guy you got the quest from and give it to him.. MAKE SURE THE BAG IS CLOSED AND YOU CANNOT OPEN IT..... after you give it to him he gives you a coin... take it up to the guard on the third floor of the milita building get your fricken tunic and your DONE!!!!!

Actually, this is a decent quest for new servers, such as Firiona Vie. Banded didn't appear on FV until about 3 weeks into it, due to the fact that new server people have to get cash, then get smithing up, etc. Anyways, the Tunic is 9 AC, +3 Dex. Not much, banded walks all over it, but for a new start up server, it's a hell of a lot better than patchwork.

You think wrong. Banded is AC15, as a simple search would have shown you.

Listen man. There are reasons why they have quests like these, this one happens to not be for exp, it's for faction so some of us can stop being KOS to the guards and merchants. And the cursing just shows your immaturity. Why don't go back to the newbie zones and hunt bats and snakes, it's obvious you can't play with the big kids.

i said "i want to hunt dervish cutthroats" no period, not caps, just like that. he gave me bag, I filled bag, hit combine (which he tells you to do) then it becomes a lore item (changes graphic to that of a backpack) and you can no longer open it. then give it back to him (btw bag is called "bag for cutthroat insignia rings") he will give you a millitia token coin to take to armorer on second floor of FP militia house, give the coin to him (will post again after I do it to tell you where he is) and should get tunic...

I have tried this quest over ten times now, i cannot get the bag. I say " i will hunt dervish cutthroats." , and nothing. I always remember the period and I always give picks first. he never gives a bag. can I use my own?

I did this quest 3 times. He gave me the bag, I filled it with the rings, I gave it back to him and I got nothiing back. No token,no faction, no nothing. All he Says is somthing about "You should donate this to the freeport milita" or somthing 8 times.
I even tried asking the quest right before I turn in the bag. I could of just those rings to a vendor for 1gp a peice.
As far as im conserned, this quest SUCKS.

You need to hit the Combine button before giving the bag to Valon. If this is not done, the outcome will be what you have mentioned.

How do you do these faction increasing quests with being less than indifferent or KOS to them? i want to not be KOS to freeport militia
There are quests in Highpass Hold that can increase your faction with the Freeport Militia, as well as some of the other "shady" factions in Antonica. Captain Ashlan and Captain Orben give out these quests.

Ask Guard Valon, "I will hunt dervish cutthroats." and don't forget to place a period at the end of your sentence or it will not work. He will give you the bag, fill it with Cutt rings, give it back to him, he will give you the token, take it to Freeport West, give it to the guard on the 3rd lvl of the Militia house, he will give you a reserve militia tunic, your done.

I gave him the orc pics, and he gave me the Money, but no bag. Anyone know why? I'm a lvl 17 warrior.

You have to ask for the bag. Not sure of the exact words, but it has to do with killing dervish cutthroats. When you give him the Orc Pawn Pics he will say something to you with the correct words in brackets.
Faction does have something to do with it. I had to give him like 16 - 20 pics before he would give me the bag. He has to see you as better then indifferent to get the bag.
